• Sarah (1/5): NOT a private space - very disappointing and upsetting experience where we didn't stay - - We booked two nights accomodation but left the property after only 20 minutes when realising it is located under the same roof as the owner, separated only by a locked door. We could hear footsteps in the adjoining room and felt uncomfortable speaking at a normal volume. While the main attraction is the view (which is undeniably beautiful) it cannot be enjoyed in privacy. The owner’s windowed double doors are directly adjacent, allowing clear visibility into the living space, which would've made sitting out there feel quite intrusive. Although the accomodation has its own driveway and rear entrance, the overall lack of privacy made us feel too uncomfortable to stay. We also noticed what appeared to be a dog bed in the space, suggesting a pet may be present, which was not stated in the listing. We requested a refund on the basis that the listing was misleading, particularly regarding privacy and layout, but this was declined. Additionally, the owner requested that Booking.com block me from leaving a review - which was not possible as we still paid full price. PS - this is my first negative review online, but I feel it’s important to share an honest account so others are fully aware of the setup and can make an informed decision. It is not fair that the listing does not state it is part of the main house.

The water to the bath didn’t work as advertised, bath salts weren’t provided, and it was extremely dirty. Cigarette butts filled both fires outside. There was no firewood provided. The coffee machine had not been emptied and the milk jug smelt horrible. There was a hair on one of the pillows and the doona smelt like perfume and one side of the bed wasn’t tucked in, which makes me think the sheets had not been changed. The bathroom mirror was dirty. There was no gas to the cooktop. There was no hot water to the hand basin in the bathroom.
• Jessica (10/5): Perfect weekend getaway. - Paul was a wonderful host, nothing was too much trouble and Freddie his dog and Gigi the kitten made our stay super enjoyable. The house was lovely, warm and comfortable and the views spectacular. We can’t wait to return.

He even offered to light up the outdoor fire for us :) *The view is stunning!!! It’s so so so beautiful up there. Breathtakingly beautiful :) *The house is clean and neat! Everything you need is there! We personally love the bedding :) *Freddie (the dog) was an unexpected bonus! We love her so much and enjoyed her company. She is super welcoming. Definitely enjoy her hospitality :) *We didn’t expect we enjoyed TV at night so much. Winding down after dinner time at the living room whilst watching TV feels so homey 😊 Nothing. We greatly enjoyed our stay :) definitely will be back when we are in SA!
