- laurel (10/5): You must try to stay here - Everything! Regardless of the rest of your travel plans, you should try to stay more than 1 night here...regardless of season. Its truly a retreat to unwind...set right on an ocean cove. It was perfect.

- Diane (10/5): - We loved our stay at Cliffs Edge Retreat! It is a beautiful ocean side resort with its main lodge and restaurant (Forager) and collection of cottages. It is conveniently located around 45 minutes from St. John's and only 30 minutes from Ferryland. We stayed in the main lodge in an ocean view studio suite, which was modern and beautifully decorated. The full kitchen was very well equipped, which we appreciated as we prepared several meals during our two night stay. Our end unit suite (L12) was located across from the laundry room and next to the exit door to the outdoor sauna, so we did hear some noise at times, but it wasn't too bothersome. Our balcony had a beautiful view of the ocean, but it was partially obstructed by one of the oceanfront cottages across the road. Suites L5, L7 and L9 would likely have the best balcony views and are located far enough away from the entrance doors on both ends of the hallway. There is a limited menu at the Forager Restaurant (which you will walk past to access your room). We didn't have a meal there, but their baked goods and coffee were excellent.

- Arlette (10/5): - We had trouble finding the office at first. It is at the Forager restaurant. The rooms were great, large, comfortable and modern. Parking was easy. Staff was very friendly. They were very amenable. They gave the room we booked away but upgraded us to a room with a view. (Unfortunately there was a hydro pole in the middle of our view.) Dinner at the Forage restaurant was great. The only downside was the cost of the prepared sandwiches which we bought the next day for lunch (43 dollars for a smallish baguette sandwich with Brie, and another Caprese one with tomato and cheese). All things considered, it was a great stay and we would recommend staying there.

The cabin itself is cosy and incredibly well appointed, down to binoculars and games. The only thing that was missing is a patio heater. We would have liked to stay outside and look at the millions of stars for longer but it gets pretty chilly at night.

- Sandra (10/5): - The Cliffs Edge Retreat is a beautiful spot to just get away from it all. The rooms provide a quiet and relaxing atmosphere, with all the comforts from home. The oceanview is spectacular. There are Adirondack chairs on your own deck. Barriers provide privacy from the neighbors and a shelter from the wind. There is a small kitchen equipped to cook adn has a full size fridge, (if you want to do that on vacation). There isnt a lot of options for breakfast, so I'd recommend bringing breakfast items. My only regret is that we didn't stay longer.

My moms 89 and she sat and watched the views and we will cherish the memories forever!!! A set of sheets and blankets for my brother who slept on the very comfortable couch should be left in the room ... he had nothing the first night because we arrived so late.

However, the week of trying multiple times to get answers from Management around options given wild fires and Air Canada strike which was making it impossible for the booking to be used as was intended, was infuriating. I made a request explaining the situation on August 13 and didn’t receive a decisive response until Aug 19, which was the day of the booking. Due to this extensive delay, myself and husband had to take time off work and arrange childcare so we could use the booking rather than throw the money away. This was less than ideal and deplorable customer service especially after paying close to $600 for 1 night!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend it! Only downside was communication: staff on site were quick to respond to an issue, but responsiveness over text (which is their suggested means of communication) is slow and inconsistent. Not a huge issue for us, but it would have made our experience seamless.
- Jane (8/5): - The property at Cliff's Edge was absolutely amazing. Our cabin was beautifully decorated, clean, and the view was stunning! Only small downfall, the map of the property at the front desk needs improving.

- Verified traveler (10/5): Amazing Ocean front getaway! - What an amazing Stay. Arrived extremely late and was able to use their wifi (no password needed) to gain access to my code to open the door and was surprised by how amazing the room was. We could see the moon shining off of the ocean.

The little restaurant was nice with friendly staff and a great view, but the menu selection was limited and a but pricey for the amount of food you receive. Was gard to find, as the address on the website was not the same as where it actually was located.

- Ravinder (8/5): - The place itself is very nice and the rooms are modern and well equipped. Unfortunately the advertising is a bit misleading. Most of the photos show rooms with hot tubs and a great view. Unfortunately those are cabins and should be clearly labeled as such. The room we got had no veiw and no hot tub. There is a shared sauna but no hot tub shared or otherwise. This was a disappointing to walk into, when one expecting a view. This needs to be clarified when one is booking a room.

- Hanna (10/5): - My friends and I stayed here for our 30th birthdays. This what we liked: The cozy robes, the amazing view (we saw a whale!!), the outdoor seating, the hot tub, the restaurant (cod and oysters were sooo good), comfortable beds, the peace and quiet, the gorgeous bathrooms, the nice soaps, and our server girlypop Hannah (she had great recommendations for us on places we could swim and eat- thanks girl!!) This is what we wished for next time: A more welcoming welcome when we arrived, binoculars in the room, a cushion for the outdoor seating, a foot rest or table for the deck, earlier check in times, less threatening vibes re the many many policies. Overall we had a fab time and would LOVE to return again. 😊

Rather a view of the parking lot. We were not greeted upon arrival. The girls at the restaurant were very nice and hospitable. Bed was very comfortable.

The room was beautifully decorated and very spacious. Bed was comfortable and cozy. The sauna on the deck was a nice option that we didn’t have time for since we arrived late. The deck facing the water provided a great spot to view the scenery.
