Guest Reviews
- Belinda (4/5): Under construction and the service is bad and lazy - everything is for the owners convenience. - The location is great and filtered water in the common area to fill up your water bottle. When we arrived the hotel was under construction and the bathroom was dirty. The bathroom is not properly sealed so there are bugs and black dirt came out of the shower whenever first used. The location is great so perhaps this could be make up for it, however, the owner is lazy and everything about this hotel is for his convenience. Breakfast finishes early when he needs to go somewhere so he’ll leave it out cold for you. The owner will tell you not to use the aircon for long or change the settings. The hotel is currently under construction which is not mentioned. The owner will make up the surcharge on the spot for paying by card for your stay so you’ll need to get cash out to pay for accomodation. Overall, the quality of service does not make up for the rundown state and current construction of the hotel.
- Diego (9/5): -
- Mariel (10/5): Tranquila. Agradável. - Localização. Café da manhã. Conforto do quarto. Havia obra no local
- Aguilar (8/5): -
- Mitja (7/5): Good location, good price, bad management - Good location. Manager was entering our rooms, leaving them unlocked. At the moment, guesthouse is a construction site.
- Lisa (9/5): Really enjoyed my stay. - At first I was a bit taken back by the renovation work taking place but it did not impact my stay at all. My room was a great size , loved I could relax in the hammock and get hot water for my morning coffee all day! Free clean water available to top up my bottle and I slept so well as bed was really comfortable. Quiet and a good breakfast. Value for money and owner was very helpful. Great air con. Despite the middle of property doing renovations, no work was taking place during my 8 day stay.
- Dirkje (8/5): Prettige ligging. - Fijne locatie, overal dichtbij. Heerlijk balkon met hangmat. Goed ontbijt. De douche kreeg ik niet goed regelbaar.
- Valeria (10/5): Excelente!! - Eduardo fue muy amable desde el primer día, el último día me olvide algo en el lugar y ya estaba en Santa Cruz y él me lo envió por ferry.
- Angela (3/5): I think I would have had a better San Cristobal experience at a different hotel. - The location is great. Not far from playa Mann and not far from the downtown area. The staff and owner were also very friendly The hotel appeared to be under construction which was a bit of an eyesore but not what my main problem was. Everytime we left the room we came back to GIANT bugs. I’m not even that squeamish around bugs and I get it’s the price you pay to be surrounded by beautiful nature. But, maybe put a screen on the open window in the bathroom? Also worth noting we were on the ground floor and noticed that someone could have easily climbed into our open window. Galápagos is extremely safe but between the giant stink bugs, spiders and the open window on the ground floor, I didn’t sleep well.

- Darragh (10/5): -
- duncan (8/5): Comfortable but could be manage by a good person. - Beds are comfortable with a great view & the staff lady is very very kind and sweet! The manager is a crazy and treat very poorly his staff.
- Mateusz (10/5): - The hotel has a great location, it's very close to the beach and various restaurants. It's within walking distance to the ferry terminal and 10 minutes drive from the airport.
My room was very bright and clean. I also had a balcony with a hammock and a great seaview. Eduardo was very friendly and helpful with providing me with advice about tours and arranging airport transfer. I really enjoyed my stay at the Royal Galápagos Inn and having a free breakfast every morning which was a nice bonus. I would definitely stay here again in the future. Muchas gracias! Nothing
- Tomáš (9/5): - Perfect location, nice owners, good wifi speed, nice view from top of the hotel Old fashioned rooms
- Sophie (7/5): Cute hotel close to beaches and town. - Beds were comfortable. Balcony was a nice place to sit. Close to beaches and downtown. Rooftop terrace had a great view. Could use a refresh.
- M_ (10/5): - A nice place to stay in San Cristobal, very close to the Sea, beach, Shops, Restaurants.
Beautiful views from the terrace!
The 2 owners are so lovely they make you feel like at home. Thank you :)
- CamiC1992 (9/5): Excelente experiencia - La ubicación del hotel es maravillosa. Cerca de todo: malecón, restaurantes, playa Mann.
El personal muy cálido y el desayuno rico.
- Jose (6/5): Too expensive for what it offers. - The location is good. Is close to Playa Mann and Tijeretas.
The room was big and had a balcony. The wifi was not good. It came on and off all the time.
The hot water on the shower only worked for 2 minutes, after that it got cold again.
They are making a construction next to the hotel, so it smells like fresh wet cement.
- Louis-Emile (10/5): Super séjour avec vue 😎 - La vue sur mer de la terrasse et le bon petit déjeuner
L’accueil chaleureux du propriétaire qui parle très bien français (mais aussi anglais et allemand !)
- liagarcia (8/5): -

- Nina (9/5): Great place to stay, very attentive staff, great communication, exceptional service. - The breakfast was absolutely amazing! It felt much more like a B&B that a hotel - very personable and wonderful service! The staff was attentive and very friendly. They went out of their way to accommodate their guests! They were able to offer advice on local tours and even arranged one for us at a much cheaper price than we found in town. Communication was prompt and kind.
- Kathryn (10/5): A wonderful place to stay in San Cristobal - A wonderful place to stay in San Cristobal. Close to beaches, restaurants & walking distance from the pier. Eduardo and his wife are so kind and friendly, they make you feel right at home. Facilities are great, clean and comfortable with a great shower. Breakfast was delicious.
- Ronen (9/5): Superb -
- Karen (7/5): Great location and stunning views…. Good budget option - The location, I read previous posts about having to walk up a hill. It was a 100 metre slight incline, nothing more than you would have walking along the street. It is set back one block from the centre of town. This was great, because it was away from street noise(could still hear the sea lions :)) and I could take advantage of the absolutely STUNNING view from the hammock on the balcony. This location means that you are closer to the beach and the walks that you will want to take advantage of.
Staff are just lovely, definitely a family feeling as you walk in. This of funny grandad and beautiful sweet auntie. Room is basic, and has let’s call it “character” if you are picky about your bed and facilities this might not be for you. TV is more of a decoration on a shelf. From what I saw you will have to spend significantly more to get 4 star accommodation on the Island but you will be compromising on the view and location. I extended my stay by 2 days and if I could I would have started longer. I was really happy and I was happy to pay the more budget price and do extra activities.
- Leonardo (9/5): Great place. - Good breakfast, the room is big and the bed is very comfortable. Great view from the balcony.
- Anonymous (10/5): Cozy stay close to beach and restaurants - Excellent and delicious breakfast with very friendly and attentive staff. Rooms as described and shown in the photos and kept very clean. We especially enjoyed the hammock on our balcony that made our stay even cozier. Thank you so much 🙏🏻 N/A it was a good value for money
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional - Great location, friendly and helpful hosts, very clean, peaceful, with creative architecture/ambiance. I really enjoyed my stay and would happily stay here again 😊
- Pauline (10/5): Incredible - I had an amazing stay at Royal Galapagos!! It’s very safe, the staff is soooo friendly! The owner is an absolutely lovely lady!
The breakfast is very good! The bed very comfortable, and you’re at a walking distance of one of the most incredible beach in the world, playa Mann ( incredible because you’re nearly sharing your towel with the sea lions on the beach )
And to cover all that, you have the sea and sunset view from your hamac on your balcony! Just perfect! If you want to enjoy your stay at San Cristobal, just go there! Best place!
- Betty (2/5): Never again, hotel from hell. Terribly disrespectful to solo female travellers. - The breakfast was great, fresh fruit, the kitchen staff was friendly and lovely and thoughtful. The rooms were cleaned everyday. The location is perfect and walking distance to town and the beach with many sea lions. Construction around in day time, too noisy to make work calls and zooms. Little ants running around from the holes in the wall even though the room has no food. two hornets nests outside of my door and the neighbours', wasps are dangerous. I had to ask the cleaner to get rid of the nests for safety reasons.
There is no basic things like 'privacy signs' for your door, other guests have complained that the owner walked into their own room without consent or permission when they are half dressed or in the bathroom, just to switch off their air conditioning to save power. I think thats very unacceptable. Privacy is a pretty basic thing. It violates safety and basic premise of hotel operators. Pretty sure its bordering on illegal to do that. No hotel owner just strolls into guests' room anytime they like. All their valuables are there, they are not fully dressed.
I was late to breakfast one day, and was given a long lecture on the time and punctuality. I think its more professional to tell the guest that breakfast time is over, no one needs to be lectured like a little kid. That was wierd.
I was diving almost every day and needed a few more bottles of shampoo as my hair is long. Most hotels will just give u more bottles for free upon request, the shampoo are tiny and the quality was poor so i had to use a few in each wash to ensure my hair is properly cleaned. And the owner had a long debate with me and was reluctant to give it, had a huge arguement in front of a guest and his staff on this issue for a few cheap bottles of tiny shampoos cos it was cost to him It was very embarassing, rude, and not a way to treats guests. Very ungraceful and impolite.
He could have asked to charge guests for something so cheap, but instead had a huge fight in front of everyone on such a small issue. the bottles like probably 5 cents each or something. It made the guest feel very unwelcome, and being overly stingy is not gracious at all.
- Alexander (9/5): Nice place to stay at a low price - Excellent location right next to everything . The bed was very comfortable and the AC was very cold . Geat owners and staff. Good place to stay
- Ingalls (9/5): Enjoyed it very much - Wonderful breakfast with pleasant presentation.
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kirk (8/5): Very good - Great location. The breakfast was great - coffee, amazing juice, eggs, warm bread, granola, yogurt, bowl of fresh fruit and jam. The room was very spacious with a nice view of the ocean. Room 7, our room, has a substantial leak that the owner is aware of. There were a few times we had hard rain and the staff placed towels on the floor. These were left with us to use when it rained again.
- Lucinda (9/5): Absolutely met my expectations and would recommend as a great place to stay. - The location is great, breakfast was lovely and the room with a balcony was great too. One of the beds' mattresses was too soft for my liking (but I slept on the other bed which was fine)
- Michael (10/5): Inexpensive and a great place to stay - Everything was great
Eduardo and his family are great hosts There was nothing we did not like
- Leah (9/5): Fantastic stay, great hosts, would definitely stay again. - Great location a block off the main street within easy walking distance to everything. The only thing I would improve would be a small refrigerator in the room to keep drinks cold.
- Mario (10/5): Exceptional - An easy few minutes walk from the main pier, quiet area, spacious rooms and nice view from the balcony
- Alberto (8/5): Very good -
- Ozge (10/5): Great location, friendly staff - It is a wonderful hotel with its location, ocean view and staff. The owner of the hotel was also very helpful in getting to know the area and arranging tours. Some of the great details were that they prepared breakfast earlier than usual on the days I left early due to tour times and stored items that I would not use on my other island visits. Nothing, everything was great.
- Freshnie (8/5): Very good -
- John (10/5): Excellent value with spacious rooms and great breakfasts. - Excellent value for a large room with views over the bay. Breakfasts were substantial and they can serve them up to half an hour earlier if you’re going on a tour. Eduardo and his wife were great hosts. Nothing.
- Alice (8/5): Really enjoyable stay - Excellent location, clean rooms and really friendly staff. The breakfasts were great too. WiFi is ok for Galapagos, but not the strongest.
- Mccraith (8/5): Very good - GREAT LOCATION -GOOD BREAKFAST HELPFUL OWNER AND SPEAKS GOOD ENGLISH
LOVELY BEDS AND PILLOWS FEW MORE AMENITIES IN ROOM WOULD BE HELPFUL GLASSES ETC BIGGER TELEVISION
- Zena (10/5): Exceptional -
- Castillo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Barry (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ingrid (10/5): Exceptional -
- Pauline (7/5): Good -
- Lesley (9/5): Fantastic stay! - Had a wonderful couple of nights here. The location is great, out of the busy part of town, yet only a 5 minute walk. My room was comfortable, with the balcony a bonus. Lovely rooftop lounge area to view the sunset. The owner Eduardo is delightful, he is so kind and helpful, always smiling. The breakfast was fantastic, and they even served me early when I had an early tour. I would absolutely stay here again, and am happy to recommend this hotel! Nothing!
- Stefan (9/5): Superb -
- Jesse (9/5): Superb -
- David (10/5): Exceptional - This was an amazing find. I wanted to get away from the power cuts and hassle of Quito and the Ecuadorian coast has become too dangerous. I stayed here for 16 nights over Christmas and New year and it was brilliant. My own balcony with a hammock and sea view. They are extending the hotel with an additional 15 rooms and sometimes it disturbed my siesta
Life can be hard 😭.
- Leah (7/5): Basic property but comfortable and clean. - Great location, helpful staff and good breakfast.
- Jukka (10/5): Comfortable stay with beautiful sea view - Location is perfect, just 100m from main road and pier.
Rooms are clean with a beautiful sea view, which can be enjoyed from a comfortable balcony hammock!
Eduardo is an excellent and helpful host who knows the Island in and out. He prepares tasty breakfast with fresh juices, coffee/tea, eggs, cereal, etc. + some local specialty.
He also helped organizing a driver for an island tour to see El Junco crater lake and the giant tortoise ending at a beautiful beach swim with the sea lions.
There are good restaurants next door, e.g. INTI Garden organic kitchen with Italian flavour, and Midori Sushi pub.
And the 50+ sea lions at the pier surprise daily blending perfectly with humans.
It was a really nice stay at Royal Galapagos Inn - highly recommended.
I will definitely come back again!
- Britni (10/5): Great value for money in a prime location - this was an incredibly reasonably priced option in a great location. The sunset view was great. Right next to the best restaurants on the island. Not to mention right be the beach covered in sea lions. Beds were extremely comfortable and room was immaculately clean. Could not have enjoyed our stay more.
- Gianmarco (9/5): Superb -
- Viel (10/5): Exceptional - Location was great! The bed very comfortable and the breakfast was amazing!
- Lisa (8/5): Very good - I really liked the owner. It was a simply place and we enjoyed it.
- Svetlana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Viktorija (8/5): Very good - Great view from windows and balcony. The same breakfast every day, cleaned only one day room, finally problems with hot water.
- David (9/5): Nice hotel for a stay in San Cristobal - Nice hotel in San Cristobal in a good location and with a solid breakfast. It is located a few streets away from the most busy streets but still very close to get there quickly. The staff is very nice and friendly. Highlight for me was the balcony equipped with a hammock, where you can take time off to relax between activities. Another nice point is, that there is a water station provided to fill up your bottles, which is nice in an environmental sense but also from a monetary view, since buying water can be quite expensive on the island. The only minor thing is that the walls are a bit thin, so depending on the neighbour you might hear some noise.
- Heather (7/5): Great location, friendly staff - The location was great, very close to the "main" street. Anything I needed was nearby, restaurants, laundry, grocery etc. The hotel could use some "sprucing up" but it was fine for the few nights I was there. The balcony was nice, I appreciated the dark, thick curtains that kept the heat of the sun from blasting the room in the late afternoon. The A/C worked well. Light on amenities, which seemed to be the case for both of the hotels I stayed at on San Cristobal, but the highlight of the Island isn't inside your hotel room. It was a quiet and pleasant place to stay. The owner and his wife were very nice and the breakfast each morning was fantastic. The WI-FI was extraordinary. I was working my first two days on the island and didn't miss a beat. There is Starlink in the lobby and decent wifi in the room. A bedside lamp would be nice for reading at night and updated towels/bathmat for the bathroom would be a simple nice way to freshen the room. A rug when you walk in to catch some sand would also be nice, but generally, I was happy with my stay. Would not suggest for those with mobility issues.
- Daniel (6/5): Pleasant -
- Molly (10/5): Can’t wait to go back! - We loved our stay here! The balconies and views are fantastic. Beds are comfy and rooms are super clean. Lina is a fantastic host. Looking forward to returning!
- Lene (6/5): Old but charming hotel - Spacious rooms, great location, good breakfast Lot’s of rules, very early breakfast and check-out. The hotel is a bit worn down
- Ana (10/5): Excellent hotel and location, with beautiful sea views!! - Fantastic stay at an excellent hotel! Perfect location, and beautiful little stroll to the town center.
Huge room, with an equally huge balcony with 2 hammocks, which we definitely napped in. Loved the ocean view too, it makes such a difference!!
Eduardo and Lina were wonderful hosts, lovely people. We always felt taken care of.
The breakfast was delicious as well. Highly recommend!!
- Katherine (9/5): Superb - I wanted room with hammock on balcony and they moved me to one right away. Very nice to relax in hammock and have view to the sea after a full day out and about the island. Great location. Friendly staff. A little noise next door from a new building project but not too bad since gone most of the day.
- Elba (10/5): Exceptional - The hotel has a great location close to Playa Mann but also to the Boulevard which is great when you are travelling with children.
Don Eduardo the owner is very kind always willing to give you advice. We will definitive come back to this hotel. Breakfast was ok but it could be improved with minor changes. They provided the same food every single day with no variation which at the end of our trip we were tired of the same food..
- Florent (9/5): Superb - Wonderfully welcoming hosts, the hotel is simple but very comfortable and clean. Beautiful views from top rooms. Ideally located not far from the beach and the city while remote enough from downtown Water pressure in the shower could sometimes be stronger
- Carla (10/5): Highly recommend staying here. It’s a hidden gem, perfect for the budget traveler/solo travelers. - Very clean and comfortable rooms for a reasonable price, ideally situated and close to all points of interest. Beds are great. Housekeeping daily. My room had a balcony with a view of the sea. The staff here are amazingly kind. Had some issues with hot water initially, but they fixed this right away.
- Leonardo (9/5): Excellent location and friendly staff. - Location is excellent, one block away from the sea. Staff is very helpful and accommodated all our extra requests for breakfast, towels, etc. I wish the check out time would be more flexible, I can understand why is not but that reduces the possibility of enjoying the last day at the beach.
- Eugen (9/5): Superb -
- Martin (6/5): Pleasant - The owner (man) was an intense person,
- Frances (8/5): Very good - Nice, big comfortable room with a big picture window and a balcony. Good location close to the sea and the roof terrace was great for watching the sunset. Breakfast every morning and staff were friendly. There was only half a curtain in the room which was a privacy issue when the lights were on given the size of the windows, such a strange thing to not replace given the over all standard and price point of the hotel. The room I was in had windows to the stairwell which they could do with adding blackout blinds to as the stairwell light turns on and lights up the room anytime the stairs are used. Room wasn’t cleaned while I was there for 3 nights. Generally these are minor points that didn’t affect my enjoyment of the stay but at this price point on the island it’s worth mentioning
- Simon (10/5): Great hosts, good value for money - Stayed here for 4 nights (our first stop at Galápagos Islands).
Hotel is located a nice short stroll from the town centre; 2 great restaurants in direct proximity; all other shops and restaurants a mere 5 min walk away (walk along the huge seal colony - spectacular every single time).
All rooms face the seaside.
Cold filtered water is offered for free on every level of the hotel.
Daily (except Sunday) and very thorough room service.
Great breakfast (07h00-09h00) incl some home made local specialties. Early breakfast offered in case of early tour. At departure, sandwich offered due to very early ferry (leaving hotel at 06h00).
Eduardo, his wife and his employee are very friendly and positive. Eduardo speaks Spanish, English, German and French (maybe more?!) fluently.
Thanks for granting our wish for a quiet room on a high floor! Table in the room and little storage space in bathroom could be nice.
Otherwise all good!
- World (10/5): Best location! fantastic breakfast, Big room w balcony & hammock - Location, Balcony with hammock, Breakfast and Owner/Staff!
The location is quiet and a beautiful two minutes walk on promenade to busy town.
The breakfast is perfect w eggs fresh fruit from owners farm, toast etc. There is filtered water station on each floor. The room is large and the in room balcony w hammock. There are also 2 amazing terraces on top of hotel for sunrise / sunset.
The hotel has energy efficient / sensor lights that turn off / on at night so may be dark until trigger light. The owner is a lot of fun and will help with any questions. I extended my stay by a few more days.
- Charles-michel (9/5): Superb -
- Laura (9/5): End of travels in Ecuador and Galapagos treat. - Decided to splash out a bit for a non hostal backpacker. Wasn't disappointed.
Nice spacious room,. Balcony with hammock and sea view.
Good breakfast, eggs, bread, butter and jam. Good fruit salad and lovely thick juice and loads of coffee. They will do any early breakfast if you have a trip or ferry to catch.
Good location, fairly central but quiet. Nothing
- Angel (8/5): Very good -
- Moritz (10/5): Exceptional - Not only was the room spacious and luminous, the hotel clean and the breakfast good. All the staff were super friendly and accommodating, always with a big smile.
- Luis (6/5): Noisy and unpleasant - The property was basic but ok, and well located. The staff, including the owner were so loud. The owner seems to be involved in politics, so he was helding his phone calls early in the morning yelling on the phone, which is not pleasant and unexpected given the quiet location. They also had to stick unannounced a political party ad in our room balcony, the guests’ comfort and atrempt to rest didn’t matter.
Staff sleeping on a couch in front of reception and pieces of raw meat laying on the kichen’s floor at our arrival day. How did we get there? No one at the reception at arrival day, so we had to search everywhere.
- Kučerová (8/5): Comfortable stay - Our stay in Royal Galápagos Inn was comfortable and we enjoyed it. The rooms are spacious, beds are comfortable and they have air-con which is a must. We specially enjoyed the balcony. Breakfast was tasty and the staff was helpful. Wifi connection was poor and unstable. We had also room right next to the staircase even with windows into it, so it was very noisy during the night and the lights woke up us quite often.
- Lori (6/5): Cute room, but door doesn't lock - The room was big and had a great balcony and comfortable bed I arrived at 5pm and the lady at reception was not there. I called and messaged and she got there half an hour later. She said I didn't have a reservation but Booking and my name written in the book in front of her indicated otherwise. Then my balcony door didn't lock (my room was one story up). She said there's no crime. I'm a solo female traveler and that doesn't matter. Doors that lock should be standard for every hotel room. Her attitude was a detriment to this otherwise cute hotel. Other guests said the same thing about her.
- Susan (8/5): Very good - We liked the friendly reception and being taken care of.The price is very affordable. We missed access to coffee early morning, but the rest was very good.
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Alberto (9/5): Great zstaybatvzRoyal Galapagos - location lights timer no very efficient you, walk in the dark at times. needs improvement
- Pierre (7/5): Good hospitality, comfortable room, good location but no Internet and lots of construction going on - Location was good, close to the seafront and to Playa Mann where I worked. Nice little breakfast (served) although it never changed in 3 weeks. Room was spacious with a nice big balcony and hammock, very clean, so it was very comfortable
Friendly staff of 2 people This is not a real hotel more like a large guest house. The owner Eduardo is friendly, but there is no attempt to provide classical hotel amenities. WiFi was dreadful throughout the stay and that was a real problem (zero signal in the room, extremely poor outside, not even enough to downlaod emails)
A very large extension is being built (slowly) and therefore there was a lot of construction noise during the 3 weeks of my stay, right outside the room. This may last more than 1 year
- Gladys (10/5): perfect stay in a perfect setting - location was perfect. attention was great. eduardo is a very helpful and charming person. always asking how he can help and very handy. full of stories to share as well as useful information. he is a known guy in town. the royal galapagos is located one block from the front street. you get to enjoy the view and breeze without the hassle.
- Groves (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing, Eduardo is great!
- Cecilie (8/5): Very good -
- Pamela (9/5): Superb - Location is excellent, ocean view and 2 minutes walk from the main street and piers where all the restaurants and souvenir shops are, and close by to Playa Mann. The beds and pillows very comfortable. The room needed a little more cleaning, one bed coverup was stained. In the balcony there were bees making a honeycomb. Also some little ants in the room.
- Adrian (10/5): Exceptional - We had a great stay. It is a clean hotel with big rooms in a quiet part of town. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
- Justsimplyamazing (9/5): Great hostal - Eduardo is the owner. He is almost 70 but runs the hostal almost on his own. One lovely girl is doing the breakfast and houskeeping.
Everything was great especially the fresh Juice. Loved it.
Perfect location. It's close to everything in town.
Oh and the bed was very comfortable. No fridge. But I survived :-)))
- Stahl (6/5): Pleasant - Good pillows amazing view and location Nos so clean, owner is a bit grumpy and not too accommodating.
- Gianluca (2/5): read the comments, they explain all. Dirty and not good value for money. first time I regret using booking.com -
