Guest Reviews
- Isaac (8/5): Enjoyable stay. Peaceful weekend away from the city hustle. - Spacious, peaceful, fishing at the dam Beds could be better
- viresh (8/5): - Space Showers are not difficult to control
Need more blankets for winter
Fireplace in lounge needs to be checked
- Naresh (10/5): - The property was very old and like ambitious. Everything is good except bedrooms because four bed rooms are linked
- Alisha (9/5): - A well equipped, spacious and cozy home. Our family of 10 thoroughly enjoyed the stay from the scenic views to the lovely boma. We loved the big dam, great picnic and bass fishing spot, dam rowing as well amongst my other activities in and around the area. 24/7 security was great, friendly staff always available to assist. Will definitely recommend đ
- Sashlyn (3/5): Uncomfortable stay - Had lots of fire woods
House is big
Washing machine Had rats under the beds
Lizards living in the sofas
With there mess all over
Lakes had no entrance to use
Was not told that you need a 4x4 for this stay
- Quanita (9/5): We had a wonderful time and enjoyed the authentic farm life. - Beautiful setting. Very spacious and comfortable. It has everything you need for a wonderful family & friends' holiday. The boys enjoyed watching the ploughing and care of the cows. They enjoyed their time at the dam and beautiful walks. The road to reach the accommodation are not great so do the trip to the location in the day.
- Holder (7/5): -
- Ahmad (9/5): -
- Albert (9/5): - Beautiful scenery. Extremely relaxing environment. A lot of potential to be a GREAT venue. Very friendly and accommodating hosts. Could upgrade beds, bedding etc. Short of a few kitchen and braai utensils.
- Ayanda (8/5): - We recently stayed at this farmhouse and had a truly wonderful experience. The roads leading up to the property are a bit bad at the moment, but the host is incredibly helpful and personally guides you to the house. The road conditions are due to ongoing repairs, which is obviously outside of the hostâs control, but itâs something worth noting before you travel.
Once we arrived, we were welcomed by a beautiful, rustic farmhouse with a large yard â perfect for a family staycation. It genuinely feels like visiting your grandparentsâ home in the countryside, warm, nostalgic, and full of character. The surrounding area is absolutely stunning, set in the mountains and surrounded by peace, quiet, and complete tranquility.
Inside, the house is clean, cosy, and very comfortable. It looks like the mattresses were recently updated because we all slept extremely well. The home is spacious enough for a very large family â we were 15 people, and everyone had enough room. There is ample parking, lots of yard space for games, and a bonfire and braai area that we all enjoyed.
I also have to highlight the host â she is absolutely amazing. This is a self-catering home and there are no shops nearby. Once you pass the SPAR in Nottingham, thatâs the last shop. The closest stores are about 30â40 minutes away, so make sure you have everything on your list. We unfortunately forgot salt, cooking oil, and milk, and out of the kindness of her heart, the host shared some of her own groceries with us. We are truly thankful for her generosity and hospitality.
Overall, itâs a beautiful home with no negative comments from our side. We would definitely return â especially in the peak of winter in 2026, when the farmhouse charm would be even more magical.
- Nomalanga (9/5): Superb - The hosts are amazing and super considerate. It gets really cold sometimes but there's plenty of firewood readily available, which I thought was really thoughtful which made us spend most of our evenings by the fire pit. This is an awesome place to get away from the busy city life with family or friends.
- Kollmorgen (8/5): Enjoyed the stay and we will return soon. - The size of the house and the views No way of starting the fire in the fireplace. Firelighters should be provided. No towels.
Location was a bit far from where we needed to be but all in all a great place to stay.
- Tashnee (10/5): 5 Star for sure - Everything Everything was perfect
- Mariette (5/5): Passable - Beautiful location with fantastic views. My stay at this accommodation was quite disappointing. The mattresses on the beds urgently need replacing, as they were incredibly uncomfortable. No extra blankets were provided, making it difficult to get a good night's sleep.
Additionally, there was no garbage removal service, which led to an unpleasant accumulation of waste. The bathroom also had maintenance issuesâtowel rails and hooks were loose and in need of re-fixing.
Every night we heard rodent activity in the roof, which made some of the kids very uncomfortable.
Overall, the lack of attention to comfort and upkeep of the property made for a disappointing experience.
- Nzimande (8/5): The drive was bad, the stay was excellent - The place was great, ticked all the boxes. The roads arenât suitable for small vehicles
- Paula (10/5): A heavenly break away - The house is so big but comfortable. Everyone was very impressed. Could have done with a few more days as the place was so relaxing. Also the fishing is good. Nothing. It was great.
- Shabbir (9/5): Superb - Clean comfortable accommodation, which is well priced. Surrounded by spectacular scenic views. The farm also has a beautiful dam, which guests have access to. Mattresses could do with upgrading.
- Kogie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lindiwe (7/5): Good -
- Venika (8/5): True farm experience in a farm house with lotsa character - We love the character of the old farm house and the view is brilliant. We loved the peace and quiet and truly enjoyed the Big Dam which was like having your own private dam. The accommodation was warm and the fireplace in the lounge and boma outside was a fantastic touch. The double beds in the farm house is really old and uncomfortable đ but all the children truly enjoyed the bunk beds
- Mthokozisi (10/5): Location was amazing with spectacular views, the hosts were very friendly and helpful. Th - Location was amazing with spectacular views, the hosts were very friendly and helpful. The house had everything we wanted. Nil
- Naiem (8/5): Very good -
- Kollmorgen (4/5): Disappointing - Good location for what we needed the premises for.
Large house and kitchen. We did not feel cramped. The mattresses are not good. They were way to soft and uncomfortable.
No means to light a fire in the lounge.
I was in the main bedroom with a long line of cupboards. The rodent activity behind the BIC's at night kept me awake.
Floor in the showers need a good scrub.
- Sahl (8/5): Very good -
- Cecilia (7/5): Good - It was a beautiful farm house big enough for the whole family. We had a pleasant time and enjoyed the beautiful views and the dam where the kids could fish. Plenty of space for the kids to run around and play some cricket and soccer. Overall it was a great experience.
- Priyanka (9/5): Superb -
- Ahmad (9/5): Superb -
- Yasmin (10/5): Loved it - Review for Meshlynn Farm House....
As a last minute (rushed) booking we didn't expect too much. But what we got was worth every cent!!! Clean & comfortable with a great outdoors. Lots of space inside and out and well catered for. And the view from the house was absolutely fabulous! Our host Jimei was excellent and communication was fantastic from the time the booking was confirmed. Thank you Jimei for making our stay so pleasurable and comfortable. Anyone wishing to visit the area should consider this as their stop...but just make sure you have a 4x4 to manage the roads in...10/10.
- Marelize (10/5): Breathtakingly amazing - The scenery is breathtaking, John and Jimei are amazing people. Thank you so much! Itâs a home away from the noise with a peaceful environment! If youâre looking for a different type of fresh air, then I would definitely recommend Meshlyn Farm house. The house is massive and thatâs what we liked, as well as the fire place! The shops are quite far out though so be sure to buy everything you need, the roads are gravel and there are loads of potholes but it made the road to the Farm house worthwhile.
