They even offered a small breakfast before getting in the boat There is only one bathroom with a shower, urinal and toilet which was always wet and a bit dirty. The room was nice but no top sheet was offered and only a small velvety blanket.

Das Zimmer war für eine Nacht gut, perfekt für die Weiterreise. Das Zimmer und das Bad könnte sauberer sein und es hatte sehr viele Mücken. Für eine Nacht jedoch gut.

• Katherine (9/5): Perfect for a 1-night stay before getting the boat to Karimunjawa. Simple. - A great budget roomstay before getting the boat to karimunjawa. It’s basic with a shared bathroom and kitchen area but has a real cosy feel and ideal for a night or two as you can see the ferry from the door which saves time in the morning before getting a boat. The kind host even made us breakfast! A little dated / cluttered decor

• J0AM (7/5): - Very convenient location if you travel to Karimunjawa, just a few meters from the ferry boarding point. The room was small but clean, with a kitchenette and dining table, plus water, coffee, and tea available. I appreciated the extra lights in the room - places of this type usually rely on a single ceiling bulb, but not here. Cons: there is one shared bathroom combined with a toilet for all rooms. Having a separate toilet would definitely be an advantage. The bathroom was clean, but the floor was constantly wet. The urinal for men inside the same shower room felt a bit obscure and unintentionally funny. Early in the morning (before 6:30am) there was a lot of noise and shouting from the next-door office, which also serves as the entrance to the rooms. Everything carries through the door, so it feels almost like you are staying in the office itself. There are no restaurants or shops in the area, but food can be ordered online with Gojek.

• Florian (8/5): Gute Unterkunft für eine Nacht. - Preiswerte Unterkunft, um am nächsten Tag die Fähre nach KarimunJawa zu nehmen. Gute Lage zum Hafen. Die Leute waren freundlich und haben sich um den Ticketkauf gekümmert. Morgens haben wir noch ein Frühstück erhalten. Die Kommunikation war etwas schwierig, da die Leute kein/wenig Englisch konnten. Wir hatten am Anfang ein paar Insekten im Zimmer. Ich denke jedoch die kamen einfach von draußen rein.

• Iraitz (7/5): Estancia adecuada para una noche antes de coger el ferry - La ubicación para coger el ferry por la mañana. Se encuentra justo a la entrada del puerto. Nosotros teníamos el ferry a la 13:00 por lo que fuimos a la ciudad a pasar la mañana. Si no se tiene el ferry a primera hora, creemos que es mejor alojarse en la ciudad. La persona que se encarga del alojamiento nos consiguió los billetes para el ferry y nos organizó el shuttle desde Jepara. Cómodo para una noche. Las habitaciones dan a recepción o a la cocina, por lo que pueden oirse los ruidos de recepción. El baño es compartido y se encuentra en la zona de cocina. El baño estaba limpio. Cuando llegamos no estaba la persona encargada y la persona que estaba anduvo un poco pérdido, le tuvimos que pedir una sábana encimera y nos dejó otra bajera ( ya nos arreglamos). En la zona no hay mucho que ver, pero el taxi hasta el centro no es nada caro.

O quarto estava muito limpo e ainda nos prepararam ovos para o pequeno almoço. O Fahim ajudou-nos com tudo, desde a compra dos bilhetes do ferry até aos transfers. Espero muito voltar um dia!

On nous a aidé à réserver nos tickets de bateau ainsi que pour louer un scooter sur l'île. Les chambres sont fonctionnelles, il y a la clim et on s'y sent bien. La salle de bain est propre. • Michael (10/5): Exceptional - Ardian house provides a perfect launching place for a trip to Karimunjawa. Facilities are basic but exactly as advertised, clean and well maintained. Ardian and his staff are warm and welcoming.
• Hester (1/5): Don’t go here if you don’t want private information leaked - Honestly, the place was fine when I stayed there. Nothing special, but clean, comfortable, and easy to combine with the ferry, and a good bang for your buck. However, the accomodation allowed someone to pull my phone number from my reservation, and he used it to try to introduce himself to me, saying I was beautiful and that he was trying to get to know me. In general, that is a digusting violation of privacy that any accomodation should be incredible embarrassed of, but given that I was there as a female solo traveler made it even more uncomfortable. I tried to resolve it with the accomodation in a nice way, notifying them that this had happened, mostly since the stay was actually quite comfortable so I did not want to leave a bad review. Instead, they lied to me and dismissed my complaint, telling me that my number was simply used to try to help me with transportation. Besides the fact that this was obviously not what my number was used for, I also never requested any help, nor ever even brought up the topic of transportation. Moreover, I had already left so I obviously did not need help with transportation either way. Bad end to an otherwise okay stay.
• Blair (1/5): Disastrous homestay experience - Accomodation is located just inside the port terminal. Appears to have a nice communal kitchen area I have never had to give a bad review on booking.com…but this property definitely requires it. In case you don’t want to read the long version of our experience with Adrian House, here’s a bullet pointed version of issues we had with this accomodation: 1: They double-booked our room, but only admitted this roughly an hour after we turned up. Before then they refused to tell us what was going on. 2: Despite being promised they were going to move us to a “larger, nicer” accomodation, we had to stay in a room that was infested with lizards, ants and cockroaches 3: We were promised a cooked breakfast for our troubles the following morning. This never happened 4: We were told the incorrect time to arrive for the ferry, meaning we turned up late and had to spend the 6hr journey on the floor. 5: Adrian house still insisted on charging us a commission on our ferry tickets, despite our later accomodation securing the same tickets for 150k less Full description below: Unfortunately, this is where the good elements end. We had booked our stay in Adrian house weeks in advance, and turned up at 7pm having received no prior communication that there was an issue with our booking. When we showed the booking to the person at the counter (who had limited English), we were stonewalled with simply “wait ten minutes” for the next 45 minutes about why we could not enter our room, even when an Indonesian friend spoke to him on the phone. After threatening to go somewhere else, an English-speaking worker called Fahmi from the hotel arrived to tell us that our room had been double-booked and that they were waiting to clear the other family (who they claimed had falsely told the reception they had booked both rooms). After waiting another 20 minutes, Fahmi casually informed us that we would need to move to a different accommodation he assumed was “much larger and nicer” as it turns out the family had legitimately booked both rooms and the accomodation had just double booked us.

• Carla (10/5): Great option before getting the ferry to Karimunjawa. Good value of money! - Great option for taking the ferry to Karimunjawa in the morning, only 1min walk to the pier. I was positively surprised by the quality of the room, it was big, clean, very comfortable bed and AC worked fine. I’m not the kind of tourist who cares for a TV, but it was very nice to have one working as my stop in Jepara was only for rest and taking the ferry in the next morning. There is a common kitchen with hot/cold water, tea and coffee available. The bathroom is shared but very functional and clean. The good restaurants are 5min by grab/gojek. I really liked my stay and totally recommend this place. Great value of money!

• Polly (8/5): Perfect location for the port - Amazing location if you are taking the ferry to Karimunjawa. Ardian was extremely nice, and went the extra mile to help us, he got us dragon fruits for breakfast let us use one for his motorbikes for free so that we can can go to a restaurant for dinner and arranged the transport to Yogyakarta on our way back to the islands! The room is basic with shared bathroom but very clean and for the money you pay you can't expect anything more. I would recommend. It can get noisy as you are by the port, but the location is very convenient, so we were ok with that.
• Paul (8/5): Perfect location!! - Karimunjawa!! Very few have heard of these small islands off the North coast of Java, an archipelago of 27 islands, most of them in a marine reserve. The main island is reached in 2 hours by a speed boat, from the quaint port of Jepara. Stunning is not describing the islands, jaw droppingly perfect scenery, white beaches, emerald turquoise waters, picture perfect handcrafted wooden jetties, snorkel waters so clear to see the stunning corals, multicoloured fish, a truly magical experience. The Mangrove Park, a 2km trekking is in a remarkable setting, stop for grilled fish, under the call of prayer, and run for cover from the thunderstorms. A scooter gives you the opportunity to visit this verdant island of lush vistas and mountains, small business like cashew roasters, or side road café, perfect examples of why you should sometimes leave the crowds behind, and go off on an adventure beyond the bounds of crowded beaches. It should not be a surprise that Indonesia holds some secrets in its islands, after all there are over 17,000 of them! The island of Karimunjawa is, for now, a proper hidden gem, crystal clear waters, vivid rainbow coloured coral reefs, and the picture perfect postcard Eco Casa Resort, a small island life feel, the secret is out! Breakfast!

• Crista (5/5): Passable - Spacious and clean room and good airconditioning. Location is super good, 2 min walk from the port There was just one toilet and shower for everyone. And it was occupied a lot of times.. communication of the staff members and owner was terrible. I had to wait for an hour before I got my room, but there was no communication about it. The only communication i got was “boss is not here” and something vague through google translate “room hotel later”. I had no idea whether there was a room available for me. In the end the room was double booked and the owner solved it in favour of me. But the communication about this was horrible. As a solo female traveler who arrived in the evening this was a very unpleasant situation.

Unfortunately perhaps the weather and our mood played a part, but the room and bed felt not comfy at all and the red lighting used made it feel dark and dirty in the room. Also, having our room right next to the road and the scooter garage made it impossible to sleep.

• Fausto (3/5): Convenient to walk to the port but you almost sleep in the office - Excellent position, just by the port, which can be reached by walking 2 minutes. The room we were given is accessed directly by the main room of the building, which is the office of the tour agency, so there are people coming and going all day and it is quite noisy, with no privacy at all. The room is very basic, which can be expected from the low price, but it not convenient because to access it it is necessary to cross the office, as is the case to go to the shared toilet/bathroom. We also arranged a long-distance transport with a car with them and they were not professional, as they quoted a much higher price than agreed a few days before, giving the excuse that they understood we wanted to go to another, nearer place. The price paid in the end was fair, but we nevertheless felt they were taking us for a ride. Also, the driver did not use toll road, which would have saved us at least 3 hours, and did so only when we asked him to do so and gave him extra money to pay the toll. If they had told us before leaving, we would have definitely chosen the toll road and would be prepared to pay extra for it.
