- bethany (10/5): Would return - We stayed for one night whilst visiting Whitby and I’m so glad we chose this guest house. Great location, great hosts, simple room but the comfiest mattress and had everything you needed. Nothing - everything was great.

- David (10/5): -
- Fiona (10/5): - Its a beautiful building, the rooms are calm, peaceful and clean and a very easy walk to the town centre. There's also parking close by. The room was large and comfortable and breakfast was lovely. The owners were on hand to offer help and provide suggestions for places to eat as well as advice on upcoming events in Whitby. Nothing, it was all lovely
- Grace (10/5): - We had a fantastic stay! The room was so comfortable, spacious and clean. The house is really comfortable and clean overall, but also has nice historic character. The breakfast was great and we were welcomed really warmly. Great location too, not too far from anything but also in a nice, quieter neighborhood.

Parking was on road outside they provide a permit you pay £2 per day
Nice breakfast cereal or cooked breakfast etc
Location good walk 5/10 min into center pass shops/cafe/pubs walk back up hill on return

- joanne (9/5): Great stay, would definitely stay again. - The location is great, at the top through the whalebone arch. Owners friendly and helpful and breakfast very good. Nothing to dislike.
- Sonia (10/5): Excellent all round, would recommend. - Friendly efficient staff, excellent hot cooked breakfast, excellent location, room was quiet had a great nights sleep. The room we stayed in was not en-suite, we did have a private bathroom on the landing, this was reflected in the price we paid.
- sharron (9/5): Lovely stay and lovely property to stay in with a mega breakfast - Clean welcoming with a host who gave us lots of information about what was happing each day Unfortunately the shower was poor with more of a drip than a shower but did you job
- Vicki (10/5): - Very welcoming, breakfast amazing & room very clean
- Lynne (8/5): Good - Breakfast was good. I would have liked a bit more flexibility. We had a timeslot of 8.40am. The room was clean and comfortable but the low beams made positioning of one of the beds awkward and I was unable to watch the TV. I didn't realise there would be no shower gel in the shower, so had to buy some, but we don't often stay in guest houses, so that might be normal. All in all it was a good experience. The hosts went out of their way to help with the parking issues in the area and were generally very amenable. As above. Awkward positioning of beds in attic room.
- Richard (8/5): Great guest house with very friendly owners - Great location. Very friendly staff! No shampoo/ shower gel
- Taylor (8/5): Very hospitable and helpful - Good breakfast and well situated Room on top floor
- Susan (10/5): Great stay - The owners were very professional and friendly.. The room was spacious and very clean..The breakfast was cooked to order. Nothing
- Woodman (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tanya (9/5): Beautiful, friendly stay - Lovely guest house, hosts made you feel welcomed and relaxed. Breakfast was lovely and tasty, felt like a family. I didnt like the fact you couldn't bring food back to your room, but I do understand why and respect the decision
- Michelle (8/5): Very good -
- Diane (8/5): Very good -
- John (9/5): Superb -
- Paul (10/5): We will be back. - Dead easy to pop into town.
- Jimmy (9/5): Whitby Goth Weekend Stay. - Great location and very helpful information about the location from the hosts. Our stay was very comfortable, the only little gripe was the pressure in the shower was weak.
- Paula (10/5): Great hosts and a lovely comfortable room - Lovely hosts Paul and Helen. Thank you for a very enjoyable stay at your lovely B&B. My room was clean, very comfortable and I enjoyed my breakfast. Thank you for your recommendations, they were spot on. Next time I visit Whitby, I won't hesitate to book the Boulmer again. Everything was spot on
- Paul (8/5): Very good -
- Lee (10/5): A Nice Quiet Trip Away - Well located, only a short coastal walk back until the main part of Whitby, while being away from the noise of the town centre.
The hosts were extremely helpful and the breakfast was delightful, with generous portions.
- Steven (5/5): Passable - The location was brilliant Very dated and very cold heating wasn't on much not good when it's -1 outside
- Barry (9/5): Superb -
- Karen (9/5): Overall a lovely stay we were made very welcome - The owners was lovely, the place was clean the bedding was clean! The breakfast was lovely wasn’t waiting long either
The location was fab would definitely go back 🙌
- Debbie (9/5): quiet room and location.comfy room.lovely scenery. - fantastic breakfast. comfy spacious room.
- Christina (10/5): Brilliant little family holiday - Lovely in all ways Nothing
- Andrew (9/5): A nice guest house, ran by lovely people. A great find. - Lovely, welcoming hosts. Nice room. Nice breakfast, great location. The shower was a little underpowered, which had allowed dirt to build up in the head.
- Mary (8/5): Very good -
- Esslemont (10/5): Enjoyed Whitby the owners where pleasant and helpful - Everything you would expect for a good breakfast cup of tea or coffee plus oj A little bit closer to the pubs and restaurants
- Simon (9/5): Superb -
- Louise (9/5): Superb -
- Peter (10/5): Highly recommended would definitely go back. - Fantastic breakfast , Paul told us the best places to eat and where to go, nothing to much trouble.
- Pauline (10/5): Staycation - Lovely hosts room was clean , great location, food was lovely.
- Tina (5/5): Passable - The accommodation was very clean but a bit dated. The breakfast was very good. When we arrived, we were told we had the attic room, room 6. When we got to the room , we were surprised to see that the eaves were so low at one side of the bed that you had to duck down to get to the bathroom or the other side of the bed. Given the fact that I had a brain haemorrhage some years ago and was advised to be careful, I knew that going to the toilet in the middle of the night (which I do a few times each night), would be a problem. I asked Helen if we could swap rooms as we were the only guests on the Thursday and explained why. She said the other rooms were booked out by repeat visitors who had asked for particular rooms the next day( this was untrue as I made a point of asking 3 of the other couples who said they hadn't been here before). The only advice Helen could give was to swap sides of the bed with my partner. I didn't want her to hit her head in the night either, so we had no choice but to sleep with a light on. I wouldn't have booked had I known this in advance and told Helen this. She offered us another room, which she said would be another £80 for the 4 days as it was a family room. To be fair, you should be informed when booking that this room has restricted headroom, then at least you could decide if this is unsuitable.
- Eric (9/5): Superb -
- John (7/5): We won’t be returning to that property - Cleanliness was very good Old fashioned decor
The male owner of the property was slightly abrupt in his manner and talked to other guests non stop during breakfast service
- Janice (9/5): Superb -
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional - Great hosts, room and location. Nothing, it was great.
- Alison (9/5): Superb - Great location, very nice place to visit Variable weather. Still great trip though
- Steven (10/5): Exceptional - Everything can't fault Nothing
- Adrian (10/5): All in all a fantastic weekend celebrating my partners birthday. Goth weekend was an added bonus. - Both Helen and Paul were fantastic hosts. Paul was a mind of information and gave us a lot if information about the local attractions of what what going on and where to go. (we didn't realise it was Goth weekend) It was amazing and an eye opener tosay the least. The location was brilliant just a short stroll to the centre and all the best pubs. Bed was super comfortable and made for an excellent nights sleep. Breakfast in the morning was also great. Full English form local suppliers. I would recommend. There was nothing we didn't like.
If i was to be very critical and it would be very critical our shower was a little slow but we were on the top floor so think this has a little to do with it
- Steven (9/5): February 2023 - Very clean, hospitable hosts with great local knowledge. Good location near to town centre. Room was in attic so head height was restricted in part of room.
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent food host very helpful 👍
- Tom (8/5): Very good -
- Chris (10/5): Exceptional - Very quiet at night, no sound of traffic.
Breakfast was excellent
- Howard (10/5): excellent - spotlessly clean. very attentive hosts. good information freely given by the hosts. a good hearty breakfast, great location - a simple short walk to the pubs, restaurants and everything that Whitby has to offer - first class accommodation everything was great
- Deegan (8/5): Very pleasant, quality B&B, perfect for our New Year break. - First class breakfast. Very good, friendly service and spotlessly clean room.
- Matthew (10/5): Fantastic thank you - Hosts were friendly informative without being over the top. They told us about events going on in the area that we wouldn't of known about otherwise
- Nick (10/5): Exceptional - Very clean and homely feel to this accommodation, from the moment we walked in the hotel door to our room we both felt very happy that we had chosen to stay here. We were warmly greeted upon arrival and felt welcome to stay. Also we found the location to be great for exploring Whitby.
- Barrie (10/5): Exceptional - Nothing was too much trouble, Paul was very informative with local history, Helen was an excellent cook and kept the rooms very clean and comfortable, would definitely stay with them again
- Phoebe (9/5): Superb - Staff were so lovely and accommodating. Location was really close to the pavilion which was perfect for me.
- Karen (10/5): Exceptional - The accommodation was clean. The breakfast was lovely and the hosts were really friendly and informative. Parking virtually outside and very cheap for the two days. We took a bus to Robin Hood Bay which was brilliant too, no driving required, a bonus for me.
- Martin (10/5): Exceptional - Clean quiet very friendly
Lovely room with en suite
Excellent breakfast
Great location for getting in to whitby
- Vinnyk (9/5): Warm Yorkshire Welcome at Boulmer Guest House - Helen and Paul were excellent hosts. They gave us a warm welcome and lots of advice of things to do in Whitby. They helped us sort our parking out too. Room was better than expected and glad we didn't go for one of the many cheaper b&bs. It was a clean and comfy base for weekend. Tasty breakfast cooked to order. We had an amazing time in Whitby and will check out Boulmer Guest House if we return again next year! Thanks Helen & Paul. Poor water pressure in shower.
- David (9/5): Would recommend to others - It was very clean and well kept There wasn’t much to dislike about the property
Not to keen on Whitby car parking
- Shirley (10/5): Amazing weekend, delicious breakfasts cooked by Helen and a very lovely house to stay in. - Fabulous location, close enough to walk to everything but far enough to get a quiet night’s sleep. Difficult to park. Once you have parked you stay in that spot.
- Terence (9/5): Superb -
- Jo (8/5): Lovely people, lovely place to stay. Great location. Just a couple of things that could be better. - Location and lovely room The pressure on the shower definitely needs some attention. To the point where I didn’t wash my hair because it would have taken ages. And the breakfast scheduling. Would be nice to have the option of maybe until 10am rather than 8am to 9am and being given an exact time to come for breakfast.
- Agris (10/5): everything was ok - location been good, not so far from town centre and beach. food been beautiful
- Stephen (8/5): next time a different room but it was a nice stay with a clean guest house. - the breakfast was very nice but probably change the sausage supplier, also try some cereals as well, breakfast room very clean and well presented . room 6 very dark you have to bend down to pass by roof and corner of steel frame bed support, shower very small. on street parking which you have to pay for.
- Glenn (9/5): Superb -
- Charlotte (8/5): Very good -
- Jane (9/5): Superb -
- Christine (9/5): Superb - Location and for friendly hosts. Cooked breakfast lovely. Bedroom in loft area with beams that if you got up in the night could injure yourself if not careful.
- Anonymous (10/5): Perfect for a weekend getaway. We will definitely stay here again. - Homely with character and in a great location Nothing
- Jason (7/5): Good - Lovely hosts, very helpful and witty. Comfortable room and the breakfast was perfect. Bathroom was missing a toilet brush and the bathroom door was hard to open when fully closed.
- Lynch (9/5): Relaxing, clean and comfortable and a good location to amenities. - Traditional lovely guest house, liked the quirkiness of the attic bedroom, it was very clean and comfortable, breakfasts were delicious and Paul and Helen very welcoming and helpful, would highly recommend. Nothing, no complaints at all.
- Kevin (10/5): Weekend away - Nice clean place, lovely couple running it, couldn't do enough for us and location was good Water pressure in the shower was very low, but we were at the top of the house, so I can understand why
- Magda (9/5): Excellent place - Excellent place. Close to the beach or tourist attractions. Very friendly and helpful owner. Highly recommended for families with young children.
- Kerry (8/5): Very good -
- Julie (5/5): Passable -
- Maria (4/5): Dissapointed concidering beimg told this room was one of the larger doubles there wasn’t much space to manouve between b - Great location
Nice breakfast Stayed room 6 rooftop bedroom with very low beams, unfortunately my husband banged his head causing a huge lump. This caused him to miss his breakfast 😢
Mattress (double) was rock hard and pillows flat, very uncomfortable two night stay.
Half toilet roll in bathroom water still in kettle from previous guest
Very disappointed and very tired
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional -
- Macleod (10/5): Really enjoyed it - Everything was excellent Nothing
- Bethany (9/5): Superb - The owners were lovely, very welcoming. Great location!
- Sarah (8/5): Very good -
- Lee (8/5): Very good -
- Baer (10/5): Exceptional -
- Craig (8/5): The stay was just ok. Nothing more. - Breakfast was fine but if you wanted Cereal, you had to pay for it which I didn't agree with. It was £1 per person per cereal each morning. We did not ask for extra toast as we expected to pay extra. None of us got much sleep. The Bed was not the comfiest.
- David (8/5): Enjoyable 2 days stay. - The location was our choice but it was located high up in the town.
The breakfast was good and enough to last you through lunch. The room was situated in an attic space but we had not indicated to the owners that we were seniors and with a big bag plus one smaller we struggled up several stair flights.
The parking was a problem and could only be got using a nearby leisure centre car park ,however, the excess time beyond 6pm was added onto the morning
