- Lauren (10/5): Relaxing. - The staff was so amazing and helpful. The rooms were pretty dark but I think most would like that.

- Fernanda (8/5): Really liked it - The property is very nice, rooms are clean, luminous and spacious. I do not recommend staying here if you dont have a car, a scooter or ATV cause it is up the hill. We had a car so it was good and silent. The only bad thing was that for the 3 days we were there, there was water problem in 2 of them. But I believe it was a non recurring problem.
- Thijmen (9/5): Overall great stay - The environment, and the chill atmosphere. Besides that the room was decent. Bad WiFi connection in the room and the water turned off for a couple of hours. No big problem though.
- Bogart (5/5): Okay nothing special. Terrible parking. - Nice pool and pleasant staff. The parking situation in this place is horrible. It is a steep hill and they do not have enough parking spots to cater for all their guests. The house is pretty worn and outdated and the bathroom is badly designed.
- Georgie (10/5): - Beautifully quiet and secluded from the main buzz of the town, immersed in nature. Very comfortable bed, amazing what feels like outdoor shower and great kitchen. A really perfect place
- Lynn (9/5): Not too far from town, clean and immersed in the jungle. - Spacious, clean room. Nice view and surroundings. The air conditioning unit dripped water and my expensive shoes were underneath it all night, thy were wet through by the morning as I hadn’t realised.
Kamer erg vochtig, waardoor muf rook. Groot terras, maar direct grenzend aan looppad.
- Floyd (7/5): Lovely hotel and spacious rooms, very loud and bo sound proofing at all. - The room and the outside areas were really nice, staff were helpful when around. It had a well equipped kitchen which allowed us to cook most nights which is great as Santa teresa restaurants can be expensive. No sound proofing at all. Were woken up but our neighbours coming home from parting every night between 12am-2am. We did request that to the hotel to ask them to be quiet after 10pm which they said they did, but it made no difference until we spoke to them personally. Obviously we may have just got unlucky with our neighbours, but even then the walls are extremely thin and you can hear all conversations. It is also up a very steep hill, this wasn’t an issue for us as we rented an ATV for our stay, but can imagine it being quite difficult to climb up and down everyday without one.
- Leroy (9/5): - The property was pretty, when you’re in the room it looked like you were in the jungle
The room has a lot of space and was very clean when we arrived. The swingbed in front of the room is a nice touch to your room.
The staff is super friendly and will help you with anything (in our case we had an special occassion🙈 a tarantula in the room, which is not very strange since the hotel is located in the jungle. By the way these spiders were harmeless for people) We had a car so for us it was not a problem but the hotel is located on a steep hill, which will be a pain in the ass if you have to walk all the way up

- Sylvain (8/5): Nic pool - Zen atmosphere Proximity with super busy road, vey noisy.
- Barbara (9/5): Bel emplacement mais peu chaleureux - Emplacement
Cadre
Grand chambre
Grande terrasse
Piscine & jacuzzi Zéro service
- Sylvain (8/5): - Very zen concept Location is next to a super busy road

Accueil charmant.
- Carlos (7/5): Good -
- Morgan (8/5): Very good -
- Andrey (8/5): Very good - It's a fantastic spot if you want to retreat from the noise for the night. They have a really nice outside area with a pool, and the inside is nicely designed, spacious, and comfortable. The only drawback is to get there you have to go up a steep hill for 200-300 meters. So either you have to take a car/bike, or it's a challenging hike. And there's no Uber in town (technically, it works but never finds any drivers).
- Charlotte (10/5): Excellent - Excellent stay: clean, chill, green. Functional kitchen perfect
- Gray (7/5): Good -
- Samantha (9/5): You will need a car or motorbike - Nice place with a nice balcony. Staff was very friendly. Loved the balcony. Would come back to this place! The stairs to go to the beds on the first floor are steep and kind of scary to get down from.
Because the place is located up a hill you need a car or motorbike during your stay. It’s too far and steep to walk.
- Maxime (9/5): Superb -

- Luciangela (10/5): We enjoyed Canaima Chill House for the hole trip. The best thing about it was Maryluz, the cleaning lady who became a fr -
- Martina (9/5): Superb -
- Sandra (5/5): Cool location a little out of the main road if you have a good car or an ATV. - We liked the pool. Spacious rooms and a nice bathroom with a window. Cool relaxing areas around the pool. Very difficult to get to. The road is very steep, muddy and under construction. Payment is strange since they say they charge your card for the first night automatically but then text you they only accept cash but nobody was at the reception. Now I am getting asked to send card info via WhatsApp.
- Fleur_ (6/5): Pleasant - The appartment is spacious and has all the basics. Bed is confortable.
Swimming pool is nice.
The employees are really kind and are keeping the place clean.
I'm not putting a lower rate because of them. The appartment is incredibly dark, it's definitely not like in the pictures. Maybe a change of the type of lights would improve that a lot.
The road is maybe one of the worst we had to take during our 2 weeks in costa rica(1000km driving ), they told is they will do the road in the future but it doesn't change the fact that the road is pretty bad, maybe because of the rain and the many motos and atvs passing by.
They also asked us to pay in cash, but it's said that they accept the credit cards...
It's not soundproof nor smellproof, we could hear conversations and people cooking meat very early in the morning (all doors and windows were closed but there's a gap at the bottom... )
- George (9/5): Superb - Stayed for two nights.
Great adventure place for a Costa Rica experience. .
The staff was friendly
- Thu (7/5): Quiet freedom from tourist traps - Beautiful property, feel like you are in the rainforest with all the glass windows and folding glass doors. Jacuzzi and small pool, areas to relax. As part of your room, you have a porch with a bed swing and glass dining table. Curtains nicely give you privacy. Inside is a canopy bed on a platform and gorgeous shower with a glass wall with views of nature. There is a kitchen area, stocked with some dishes, pots, silverware. There is a propane burner for cooking. Quiet since we were always one of two guests (low season). Joel answered all our questions and tried hard to make our stay as perfect as possible. We enjoyed going into the jacuzzi and pool and listening to the bird songs. A monkey climbed onto the covered deck area and we spotted an iguana in a tree nearby from the lounger above the pool. You really feel immersed in the rainforest. You can open up the room to the outdoors by pulling back the accordion doors and windows. Down the road is Eat Street restaurant and not too far, Soda Tiquicia and Soda Pura Vida. Down the road, Taco Corner was really good and we ordered para llevar and took it to Playa Carmen. Beach is just a straight walk down the street. We liked that the property was away from the main drag and it felt intimate. The rooms smelled a little smoky and the toilet needs an update (cannot throw TP into it). Shampoo, conditioner and body soap could be better. The kitchen cabinet doors are difficult to open and close. A lot of care in constructing the property and wonderful architectural features, but with a little updating, it can return to what it once was. Intentions seemed like for a yoga retreat, but no classes or services really offered. The hill to get to the property is rocky, muddy, steep, and narrow. You need 4x4 or ATV and be comfortable navigating unpaved roads. The street was used fairly often.
- Marcel (7/5): Mixed stay - The staff was very nice and the room was clean. Beautiful building and located in the middle of the rainforest. The road in was quite bad, but read about that before and was doable with a low clearance 4x4. The hot tub and swimming pool we're luxurious (a couple sharp edges underwater in the hot tub though. Cut my foot a bit). The room was spacious and beautiful with the large windows. We did see someone walk past above, so I'd close the curtains for some privacy. Would've really enjoyed the stay if it was quiet and if there was power. There was a power cut during the night. Not a problem by itself, but there was no backup generator and it lasted all night. So no fans or airconditioning. They had am emergency light in the room in case of power cuts, so it seems like this happens regularly. Would expect at least a generator. There was no gas bottle for our cooker. The bed was very firm. The room next to us had a family in it and the sound proofing was not good enough. Woke up many times from one of the screaming kids.
- Aneta (9/5): The stay has been amazing! :) - The hotel was amazing - relaxing vibe, calmness, amazing pool. Staff was really friendly. We would stay there again! :)
The location is not for everyone. It is located in the forest, up in the steep hill. We were travelling with a group of friends (all around 30 y.o.) the walk up to the hotel was a nice workout, but we did not enjoy the dusty road. Overall, we would stay in the hotel again as the location is close by the street food (main road) and a nice beach spot. We have seen some nice birds / monkeys close by the hotel. Dusty roads, steep hill. You need to be a good driver to drive up the hill and park your car.
- Rob (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful spot and a very good place to be!!
- Shannon (8/5): Very good -
- Emily (7/5): Not So Chill House - The property was very cute and is surrounded by nature and lush greenery. The pool is small but was nice during the day, and we were lucky enough to see a troop of capuchin monkeys stop by to get a drink of water from the pool. It is a 5-10 minute walk to the beach and restaurants along Santa Teresa. Extremely walkable area if you don't mind getting in some cardio when climbing back up the steep hill to the property. The rooms could have been cleaner. There was a massive gap below the door of the room which invited many bugs to enter. Noise from other guests could be heard clearly due to the close proximity of the rooms to the pool and jacuzzi area. We had a bottom floor room and the patio offered little privacy and noise from the upstairs guests was astronomical. Getting up the hill was doable in a 4x4 SUV, but the provided parking area was tight enough to raise your blood pressure. Overall experience was not as chill and relaxing as the name suggests.
- Carolin (9/5): Beautiful place, we would like to come back! - We had a wonderful stay at Canaima Chill House!
The apartment was spacious and had everything we needed!
The shower offers a nice view into the forest, a lot of beautiful birds passed by.
The veranda was huge and had a swinging bed, perfect place to relax and read. There was even a connection to the kitchen (bar with chairs).
The pool was clean and refreshing, once in a while we saw a small group of monkeys.
The staff cleaned everything daily as there was a lot of dust swirled up from the dusty road. It didn’t bother us, it’s the season.
In general, they were really helpful and taking care of everything. Can’t say I didn’t liked it… but the way up to Canaima is challenging and steep at the end, 4x4 is necessary, walks up and down keep in shape.
Be aware of the season, in dry seasons it can be very dusty, therefore be careful not to fall.
- Kamila (9/5): Relaxing stay in beautiful surroundings - Beautiful aesthetic accommodation. Great to relax and enjoy the nature. Kitchen well equipped. Nice common space with jacuzzi. Located not too far from the beach and shops. Going uphill was a little difficult especially with the luggage as we did not rent a car or atv. Would be nice if the hairdryers were provided in the accommodation.
- Jacquelyn (10/5): I would love to stay here again. Highly highly recommend. - Gorgeous room and beautiful views!! Bathroom shades didn’t close fully so not a ton of privacy but we didn’t care. Worth it!
- Sam (10/5): It was magical and we wish we could stay longer - We loved the hotel - it’s super nice and comfy! You can cook your own meals and properly relax - there was a workers making sure everything clean - they were very friendly!! The rooms are amazing it’s in a wild place up the hill and people complain about it but this wasn’t a problem for us. We used it for our exercise but we are young and healthy - if you have knee problems for example this could be a problem but you just need a car or quad. Also this is why sometimes there are leaves in the pool but it’s because it’s in pure nature - we saw monkeys
- Connor (10/5): Exceptional - The property is beautiful, rooms were great and it was overall very relaxing. Highly recommend
- Lidor (8/5): Very good - Location is great if you have a car or STV without it it’s very hard to get there. It’s very uphill
- Ellen (8/5): Very good - Very relaxing space with great views of the jungle. Loved the pool and garden. Staff were really helpful too. The big hill, walking up and down it takes only ten mins but it's dusty and lots of ATVs use it so it was not fun for my asthma. If you're planning to walk at night, bring a flashlight for additional safety so folk on the road can see you.
- Gloria (5/5): Difficult to get to. Tries to be cozy but is not. - Each room has its own porch area which is beautiful.
With a hanging/ hammock bed, table and set of chairs.
It has a feeling of being like a tree house you are in the middle of vegetation.
Kitchen is well equipped. We rented 2 rooms, both had the doors to the bathrooms broken.
The road the hotel is on is very noisy and very steep. By car or on foot it is a difficult climb.
The cleaning staff started early in the morning, I felt my privacy invaded. Also nobody wears a uniform, so at first it seems like random people are walking around.
- Andres (8/5): Very enjoyable. Be ready for a hike if you you will not be getting a 4x4, as its 400m uphill - Very nice facilities. The pool and whirlpool were very nice as well as the chill area. Although staff was very friendly, i believe the working hours are unusual. Only from 7:00-15:00 and if you need anything after that, its likely you will not get it. If this will be the case, at least leave access to extra towels or basic amenities (especially when a room was not serviced that day)
- Gómez (10/5): Excellent - Amenities and the spacious room The road uphill is difficult the property was great
- Arthi (9/5): Lovely place. Set up really well! Wish the power hadn’t gone out because it was quite hot at night. - Beautiful place A bit far from the town and located on a difficult hill. Power also went out for most of our stay
- Claudia (8/5): Very good -
- Luis (8/5): Relaxed stay in chilled-out and unique jungle lodge. - Truly unique and beautiful hotel. Feels like a lot of thought, effort and love has gone into the design.
Cool waking up to the howling of the, well, howler monkeys lol.
Genuinely very chilled atmosphere, properly up in the jungle, blissfully away from it all.
Friendly and helpful, but non-intrusive, staff and owner, Joel and Juan, with useful tips.
Great to have a kitchenette.
A/c worked ok.
The area and town feels safe, so no worries on that front.
Arguably located on the busiest and best part of the Santa Teresa strip. Also, minutes away from the Nautilus yoga deck and a few more minutes to Believe lodge (with more yoga)
Plunge pool was nice. It didn't bother me hugely, but there was a slight lack of privacy in the downstairs rooms.
I was fine with the trek up the hill - but just be aware that there is one. No bother walking up with a backpack if you are used to that kind of thing. It's only a few minutes and brings you deeper into the forest. Frankly, it is some welcome exercise for those of us coming from a sedentary lifestyle.
Very slight nit-picking about first-world problems, but I couldn't get the jacuzzi to work well, but that could be my own fault.
Overall an enjoyable stay.
- Estefany (8/5): Very good -
- Estefany (9/5): The place was nice, clean and has beautiful view. - It was great, the place was so chill that you disconnected from everything
- Fiona (9/5): A lovey stay in a v beautiful note. - Beautiful property 5 mins walk into the main ST strip, close to restaurants and bars.
Great amenities for cooking etc. lovely pool and jacuzzi .
Lots along wildlife about- saw monkeys, lizards, hummingbirds all whilst staying there.
Rooms cleaned every day.
- Antonia (10/5): Beautiful chill house - We loved staying here. The hotel is up the hill from the beach but it is walkable otherwise a 4x4 is needed. Once you arrive at the hotel you are in your own haven with a pool, jacuzzi and day beds to help you relax. The rooms are lovely with a hanging double bed and then two single beds in the loft accessible by a bamboo ladder. Joel went out of his way to be helpful and organised a whale watching and snorkelling my trip for us which was one of our highlights of our trip. Would definitely recommend.
- Kris (4/5): Disappointing - The pictures of the stay look really great but this place really needs an good update and cleaning. Staff did their best helping us but a reception that closes at 15:00 hours is not really helpful.
- Katja (8/5): Great place to stay. - It was located at a very nice spot and very well maintained. The interior and exterior was tastefully designed and gave a luxury feel. It was great to return after a hot day and cool off in the swimming pool or enjoy the hot tub. The service of the staff was adequate and prompt. The kitchen utensils were a bit poor compared to the rest of the interior. But this was only a minor point of improvement. The road towards the appartement can be a little challenging but that’s part of the adventure.
- Kirsten (10/5): Exceptional -
- Maria (7/5): Good -
- Shari (8/5): Loved it - The room Was wonderful
- Carena (6/5): Pleasant - There was no breakfast, no blankets in the room , I asked for more from 2 numbers and emailed since there were only sheets in the room and got no answer. Reception was usually closed.
- Amos (9/5): Superb - We loved everything. A boutique hotel on the side of the mountain in the forest. Getting up in the morning into the forest and the birds chirping. The rooms are amazingly designed, spacious and beautiful. Comfortable beds and a special shower. A fully equipped and useful kitchen and we loved the balcony with a swing bed hanging from the ceiling. The hotel has a great pool and a large jacuzzi. The staff helped with everything. The only thing that bothered me a bit is that the road to the hotel is a dirt road with a serious ascent.
- Georgios (10/5): Exceptional - Its a really chill house. The vibe was pure pura vida. Room was clean , the staff was very friendly. We enjoyed our stay. Would return for sure!
- Antonela (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sophie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Natalie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bragoni (8/5): nice place to chill - the personnel is really nice. - ready to help if needed.
the chill house is nice and rooms have lot of spaces.
common spaces are also really big, with 1 pool and one hot tub, although we stayed mainly in our space or at the sea. the street where the house is located is made of sand and it is basically always dusted around.
it is not their fault of course, I hope one day the government will make a real street there.
the house though, could fix the “problem” of the parking: is the same situation there and the access to it is not good
- Janine (10/5): Highly recommend location was amazing. I felt like I was in a retreat or a spa. - The location was amazing. I love how he felt like we were in the middle of the jungle we even got to see white faced monkeys I cannot express enough that this literally was a chill House, the pool, the hot tub the outdoor sanctuary was amazing and the owner took time to sit with us, and explain what to do and see. nothing it was perfect
- Hannah (9/5): A super chilled jungle oasis! - This place lives up to its name - it’s super chilled! It’s a lovely, quiet place to relax away from the busy road. The room was lovely, with loads of space and jungle surrounding us. A green oasis! The staff were friendly were helpful too. The drains smelled a little but can’t be helped!
- Priya (7/5): Good -
- Sandra (10/5): Exceptional -
- Orl (8/5): Shabby chic. - Shabby chic place with a nice jungle vibe and a special charm, in its own way. The place has only few rooms, so it is intimate and secluded. All our stay was completely "self-service", as we never met anyone of the staff for the 2 nights we were there. All in all, good price per value. Parking is not ideal, so when the place is full is almost impossible to park without blocking somebody else's car. Overall, the entire place would really benefit from a makeover and a general clean up.
- Vere (6/5): Dissapointing, mainly because of bad hygiene. - The place is set in the jungle so it has a nice jungle vibe away from the busyness of the main street. The aircon was working well and the beds were nice and soft. The kitchen was well equipped. Most of the staff are friendly and accomodating. Where to begin… We went here on recommendation of Reisjunk but I guess it’s been a while because this place is very much in need of some upkeep and refreshing. When we got there there was just a lady there (wife of the owner/manager?) and we asked her to check in, she made a weird face and said there were no new check ins for the day… after showing her our reservation she called her husband, who then confirmed we were checking in. So she gave us a key and showed us our appartment, not the most warm welcome to begin with and appearantly there is only someone behind the reception untill 15:00 so make sure you let them know if you arrive later then that.
Furthermore I felt that the place was very dirty, there was dust everywhere, I found hairs in the bed and on the pillow, the decorative pillows had mould on them, windows were stained, there was a dead cockroach in the bathroom, the towels smelled so musty and gross, I felt dirty after drying myself with them so I used my own hammam towel that I brought from home. We got our room cleaned during the day but they left us with the same smelly dirty towels which I thought was weird. The outside light on our porch was broken. The outside pool area also felt a bit dirty, pool water a bit murky, the jacuzzi accumulated a weird amount of brown foam, the pool deck was dirty, the hanging loungers looked great but taking a closer look they all were smudgy and dirty as well. We did see the staff clean so it’s not like they didn’t clean anything but I could tell it was just not well enough.. All in all this place really really has all the potential to be an amazing idyllic spot but I just felt that for me the hygiene and quality level was not what it should be to be able to give it a good score… Please please just give this place a good makeover and thorough scrub and make sure the upkeep is good, than this place could be lovely again, but as it is right now I would not recommend…
- Nesrin (10/5): very modern design place with quite a lot of space. it is indeed a place to chill! -
- Abigail (9/5): Superb - Beautiful location! The walk up the hill isn't so bad!
- Paul (8/5): Very good -
- Charlotte (3/5): wanted to leave as soon as arrived - nice to be surrounded by nature and good location - bear in mind a 10min walk up a very steep hill so only good if you don’t mind this Unfortunately our room smelt really bad - we flagged with staff and they said it could be the gas in the room so disconnected it but that didn’t work.
The bedding and mosquito net smelt so fusty as did all the curtains which properly haven’t been changed since it opened.
Our door didn’t close properly so hot air was meeting cold in the room and creating condensation and adding to fustiness.
Pool was not clean and no filter it seemed so didn’t fancy going in it.
The room and facilities felt so unloved, really need some updating.
- Laura (6/5): Pleasant - The layout of the loft pool and common areas were not clean nor the bedroom and bathroom
- Melissa (6/5): Fealt like someone was going to jump out and say we were in a bloopers show at any minute, especially because this was “ - size of the property Property needed some maintenance done, small items that would make a big difference and keep it fresh. there were a lot of little things that built up that pulled away at the charm of the property. such as difficult parking, which we knew going in, but then no one at the front desk to ask questions, okay, then we turn on the fan and the chain breaks, pushed the bathroom faucet on and it wouldn’t shut off, the toilet was suppose to have 2 buttons on the top to flush it with and one was missing so used the one that was there but it stuck and you had to open the top to reset the plunger….then it had mosquito netting around the bed for you to let down, so we did but then it would get hung up in the fan that you couldn’t turn off because the chain was broken so you were jumping around trying to straighten everything so it didn’t cause more issues!
- Kane (6/5): Lovely relaxing property but needs touching up. - Spacious and stylish room. Lovely pool. Facilities in room a bit lacking. AC leaking water, ceiling fan not effective at all, lights went off during one of our 3 nights but back on after a few minutes but worst of all, no water in any of the taps before our check out - we couldnt shower or use the bathroom just before leaving which is quite disappointing.
- Michaela (10/5): Exceptional -
- Doane (9/5): Delighted in the design touches - This place is beautiful! Boho style at its best! Room smelled a bit of mildew—tis the end of rainy season and the road up is tough with potholes so be prepared
