- AJAY KUMAR (10/5): - The location is amazing, I fell in love with the place the moment I landed here. The staff was polite and helpful. Mr. Harish and Rasika were friendly and kind. The food was delicious, the cottages are cute, Wi-Fi was strong, everything was so clean and organized. The best thing was the river, and the canal was the icing on the cake. For peace loving people, it was no less than a paradise! I am not sure about this, but was the drinking water free of cost?? It should be, especially if you are living on the banks of a river.
- Prabath (8/5): - Friendly staff
- Hasitha Ranathunga (10/5): - The rooms were very clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, and the prices were quite reasonable for the quality offered.
The Resort Manager, Mr. Harischandra, provided excellent service and took the time to explain and help us explore the surrounding area. He also arranged a vehicle for our trip to Baker’s Bend, along with a skilled and reliable driver, which made our experience even more enjoyable.
Mr. Rasika also delivered good service, ensuring that all our food requirements were met and attending promptly to every request. He was efficient, attentive, and always quick to assist.
We sincerely appreciate the excellent service provided by both of them. Thank you for making our stay so pleasant and memorable! There were no working TVs in the two rooms we stayed in. Other than that, everything was good. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay.
- World_Traveller_1 (10/5): - Great location. Very peaceful next to a river. Friendly and helpful staff and the restaurant has very good food.

- Tobi (9/5): - We had a pleasant stay at River Garden. The well designed bungalow was very comfortable, clean and spacious. The location is great, overlooking a beautiful garden and paddy fields, within a short walk the river (nice swim spot) can be reached. The staff was friendly and the dinner we had at the restaurant was tasty, though the portions were quite small. Overall a nice place to stay and explore the beautiful area of Belihuloya Kettle in the room would've been nice
- Anusanka (8/5): Awesome - We liked the location and time spent with the environment. Good service was given from Thilak which inspired us more.. The breakfast should have more variation as we got the same breakfast for the two days. Also we didn't had a television in the room
- Sandeepa (4/5): -
- Chaminda (6/5): - LOCATION EXCELLENT
- Chamod (7/5): Good - Location
- Martin (10/5): - First let me start with commenting on other comments. Yes there are some stairs, but its really not a big deal unless you have some problems walking (they will also carry your luggage down and back up).
The rooms are spacious, clean, modern and well thought trough. They are a bit moldy in some corners but that is to be expected, also the price reflects things like that.
The bathroom is very nice with an actual water preheater so you get really hot water.
When first entering the room they prepare incense so it smells really nice. You will also get a tasty welcome drink. There is also 2 bottles of water.
In the morning you can look on the rice fields while the sun rises. You can see thr sunrise from your room :).
Peacocks, monkeys, rice irrigation channel, it all ads to a beautiful jungle experience and the river a bit lower is perfect to cool down on a hot day.
We didnt have a calhamce to try the restaurant.
All in all we really liked it and would highly recommend.
- Юлия (10/5): - Хороший дом для любителей социальной дистанции. Хороший дом для любителей чистоты. Хороший дом для любителей сказочной природы. Хороший дом для любителей тишины.

- Tania (5/5): Friendly staff, lovely area but room not up to scratch - We choose this place as a stopping bridge on our travels and to experience somewhere more remote. The staff were absolutely wonderful and very helpful and organised us a local walking tour which was one of the highlights of our trip to Sri Lanka. The river and waterfalls are a fun place to hang out. Unfortunately the rooms are very very damp - this could be down to a mixture of the monkeys stealing the roof tiles and heavy rain however the smell is very evident as soon as you walk in and it doesn't leave you. You can't open the windows for ventilation due to the mosquito's and bugs. We suggested they build a frame with a net on to fit in the window frame so they can be opened during the day.
- Asoka (1/5): Found some bugs on the beds. Never recommend to anyone. - Surroundings Over priced. Requested couple of tea bags but never received. Parth to the cabanas was very slippery and strenuous so not recommended for people over 50. Steps are very high and hard to climb. Only 3 identical cabanas but prices are different.Dinner was very cheap but low quality.
- Senavirathne (5/5): - The surroundings are very beautiful. There is a problem with hot water, the shower only gets hot water for 1-2 minutes, then no more. Hot water is essential because the surrounding environment is very cold.
- Sahan (8/5): Pleasing stay, delicious food and friendly supportive staff - Location and Surrounding with Nature Lack of Maintenance of the property
Shortages of amenities
- Vithanage (4/5): Rooms were smelly. - The rooms were way down. No railing to hold.

- Jannike (9/5): Beautiful spot by the river, great value for money - Beautiful location by the river, comfy rooms, very friendly staff, great value for money Nothing major
- Kulathunga (9/5): Fantastic stay – spotless rooms, super friendly staff, amazing food, stunning views, and a perfect location. - I had a wonderful stay! The room was spotless and very comfortable. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, always ready to help with a smile. The meals were absolutely delicious—every dish was fresh and full of flavor. I also loved the beautiful view from my window—it made the stay even more relaxing. Plus, the location is perfect, close to everything but still peaceful. Highly recommend!
- Varuna (8/5): Very good -
- Nishantha (4/5): Not worth for money you pay and never stay in this place again. - Dirty bathroom, shampoo and body wash bottles were not refilled.
No coffee. TV wasn’t working.Staff was busy with the restaurant and doesn’t care about the resident guests.
- Chamin (9/5): My family and I greatly enjoyed our one-day stay at the hotel. - The food was delicious, and I appreciated the wide variety of choices available, despite the à la carte menu. The room was luxurious and very clean. Its location near the riverbank, surrounded by lush trees, created a tranquil atmosphere with the soothing sounds of flowing water. We appreciated the hotel's outbound training facilities, especially the boat rides on Samanalaweva reservior. The staff were very well-trained, and their guidance made the experience truly enjoyable. Overall, I had a very positive experience, and I cannot fault the hotel or its facilities. The only area for potential improvement is in staff training. While the staff were clearly trying their best, and were well-intentioned, they seemed to lack formal training in providing excellent customer service.
- Ramon (8/5): Very good -
- Mikkel (1/5): Bad - Ants everywhere, hundreds of flying termite coming through the gaps in the windows, had to seal the windows with blankets and spend hours killing them, and still they were running around in the bed all night.
The food was really bad quality, the noodles over cooked.
And then the gardener trying to sell us stones.
We asked if we could rent a kayak, but they could only do it with a guide, we didn't want that, so we said no, he kept talking about responsibility and security, and we said okay let's talk about hiking in the area ourselves, and then he talked about responsibility and security again, in the end we had to go to the room, but he came to our room and start arguing again, we had to tell him if he doesn't stop then we will leave the hotel.
- Rankc (7/5): Great Location - Fantastic location right next to a beautiful river. Comfortable and cosy cabins. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Room price was good value. Our only problem was that the hotel was a bit run down and showing its age starting from the name board and reception area. Rooms need more pillows and coversheets. I guess we should have asked for one more bed sheet and extra pillows but were too tired after our day out. Didn't have meals in the hotel as there are other restaurants closeby.
- Sampath (9/5): Superb -

- Bernd (10/5): Love to return if I get another chance. - Everything. Probably the nicest room (cottage) during my bikepacking trip in Sri Lanka. Really down to the detail.
Super flexible and helpful. Good food. The tablecloth shall be changed more often or at least when it’s dirty.
- Judita (10/5): Thank you! - The hotel was in the woods, near the mountains and river. It was really peacefull to sleep in the room, because all you can hear ir the river next to the house and birds:) truly recommend! And also in the reception during the papers work the manager gifted us a Papaya drink. I was really pleased by that.
- Johan (10/5): Great stay in beautiful and overlooked area - Amazing garden, very cool area, and nice rooms. And most of all, very cool staff. Extremely helpful and nice! Also we had visit from monkeys and cute dogs. We slept comfortably. Unfortunately, we could only stay one night - we would've loved to stay longer. Do not miss out on the pahathudawa waterfall just close by. There was a bit of ants in the room. But no other bugs. And there is a lot of jungle nearby which makes it hard to avoid completely. It did not bother us, but nice to know before booking.
- Sudhira (5/5): Passable -
- Reeza (8/5): Very good - We enjoyed the stay. Some areas need an uplift. Overall im happy. Calm and quiet environment that was a plus. Steps to the restaurant is difficult climb.
- Dinesh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Samitha (9/5): Absolutely wonderful! The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Thank you for making decorating the birthday table w -
- Goh (10/5): Exceptional - The room which is stand alone chalet is wonderful.
- Pree (10/5): Great place for a peaceful holiday with lovely staff. The sounds of the river lulls you to sleep. Stay at least 2 days t - Beautiful and peaceful location with a river in the Back yard. Surrounded by greenery and forest. Lasantha and staff are warm and friendly and went above and beyond. I was leaving early morning to Horton Plains for a hike and they had a packed lunch ready for me at 4 am! The food was traditional and tasty. There are 3 cottages for accommodation with good wifi, comfortable bed and hot water. None I can think of. You need to be prepared to negotiate some steps.
- Harsha (8/5): Very good -
- Sunil (10/5): Exceptional - Nice location. Very calm & peaceful. Very good staff. Hotel manager very kind & helpful. Much better if it is possible to upgrade facilities in the restaurant.
- Pravee (8/5): It’s in good location with beautiful river . - The location and the river It’s not kids friendly or elders friendly since have to climb up and get down in steps
- Umayangana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sasanga (9/5): Superb -
- Glenn (8/5): Fabulous team lead by Manager Dulitha who made me feel welcome - The private big Chalets with a modern clean ensuite. The wooded setting near the water made it a super place to relax. The in-house SL breakfasts were superb Nothing! May be the location of the Restaurant close to the main road. Was compensated by the lovely views especially of Horton Plains.
- Ruwan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Samitha (8/5): Very good -
- Lakdasa (9/5): Superb -
- Lakdasa (9/5): Superb - Everything They charged me on my card the day before I went and then they charged me again at check out since they had not synced with their booking engine.
- Indunil (2/5): Not value for paid amount.not satisfied at all. - Location is good
bathrooms are good. old rooms
lack of garden lights.
no hand rails for stairs in the garden area and dark at the night.
no tv in one room and poor quality tv in other room.
- Dr (8/5): Very good -
- Jane (10/5): Exceptional - We loved this place and found it completely by accident - I am so glad we did! Beautiful scenic views and very delicious food. Dulara Silva was the loveliest man and made our stay so fun. Organised loads of activists for us (trekking, kayaking, zip lining and waterfalls) He made sure we were always smiling. All the staff were incredible- nothing was too much trouble. Thank you! Nothing
- Hansini (9/5): Superb -
- Thammita (9/5): Superb - Nice location . Nice placements
- Deanna (10/5): Love the place ! - The location of the place is out of this world, natural beauty, the river is so beautiful. Rooms were comfy, Apart from that the staff were really friendly.
They also have many outdoor activities such as kayaking, outbound training activities, hiking, tracking, cycling, camping etc. etc.
- Azmeer (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarath (4/5): The food is OK. But the cabin is in very poor standard. Not worth for the money what we spent. - I like the spot it's close to the Belihuloya. The cabins to be much more improved with the price.
- Alahakoon (1/5): Bad - River and the nature. The hotel has not been maintained well. The restaurant does not tidy and clean. The fried rice was too much salty and we didnt eat. Food options available in the menu was not available(pork). They had charged me two times, With the card and without the card(Using card details available in Booking.com). It was really difficult to sort that out and we frustrated a lot. We booked a triple room. But the extra bed was very narrow.
- Subash (6/5): Pleasant - Nice staff! Humble and helpful! Booked luxury room for three nights but got the lower standard room for the first two nights. Lower standard rooms had problems like bad smell and broken shower.
- Ranjith (6/5): Pleasant -
- Prasad (6/5): Pleasant -
- Jennifer (8/5): Good value for money with exemplary customer service. - The room/ cottage was lovely , the fed was super comfortable and the bathroom was really great with a powerful shower. The location of the cottage was so peaceful and quiet and you could hear any sounds from the road. Dirula went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed particularly a Wi-Fi router to help with some difficult personal issues we were having to deal with. Much appreciated. He also organised a driver to take us to Worlds End Hike. Cannot fault our short stay here. The road side restaurant is a bit noisy but the food was very reasonable and delicious
- Maud (8/5): You feel at home 😍 - The hotel manager, the kitchen staff, the helpfulness, the charm of the place, the instant hot shower, the spacious room. The humidity.
- Sumudu (7/5): Good -
