Guest Reviews
- Anthony (9/5): Lovely cottage for 2 in Croyde. - Lovely cottage with all the facilities two people will need for a stay in Croyde. The property has a patio area to sit and relax in the sun to have breakfast and when we returned from the beach. Parking space just across the road included too. We were very lucky that the weather was amazing during our stay. The centre of the village is only a short 10/15 minute walk away. If you are going to the beach it is best to drive. Plenty of parking there for £6 a day.

- Kerrin (10/5): Fun little quirky place. Perfect for a couple of days away - Great little place, perfect for our few days surfing Had everything we needed and very clean
- Matthew (10/5): Beautiful cosy stay in a fantastic location - The whole annexe was highly liveable and inviting, the bed space was particularly cosy. The kitchen was well equipped. Location was pretty, quiet and excellent for walks to Croyde and Woolacombe. The garden in the property was peaceful and beautifully set. Our host Andrew was friendly and welcoming. Very hard to find fault
- ROBERT (10/5): Wonderful stay in a beautiful location. - Fern Cottage Annexe is in a lovely location. Short walk into Croyde and easy reach of Saunton and Croyde beaches.
Cosy and comfortable with Parking. Nothing. This is our second stay.
- Thomas (8/5): Annexe in beautiful area of Croyde - Great location 10 mins walk from Croyde. Lots of great walks especially if you use “Mikes Maps” sold in post office. Good value for money No comfortable seating we spent every evening reading in kitchen and wooden chairs were not comfortable despite cushions. The bed was a bit claustrophobic with the low ceiling. Bring food provisions as nearest supermarket is in Braunton.
- Kyffin (9/5): Really enjoyable stay. Would definitely go back and would recommend. - Quirky. Great location. Friendly, helpful host. Great shower, comfy bed. Parking. Lovely 10 minute walk to Croyde village and another 5 to the beach.
- SHEILAGH (10/5): - The whole place is bijou Steep stairs down to the wet room.
- Adam (8/5): Love it! We’ll be back! - Quirky and full of character! Love the cabin bed and the portholes 👌. Andrew was a total gent and very welcoming and helpful. Being ultra ultra picky…. But the tv could do with being a bit higher on the wall so you can watch comfortably from the sofa and the bed.

- Claire (8/5): - Beautiful, quirky little cottage, with everything you need. Great location for exploring the village. Perfect for a short break. Great host. The bathroom floor got very wet after showering, which is fine. But then, when using the toilet, you'd get wet feet/shoes with nowhere to dry them before walking through cottage!
- Victoria (10/5): The perfect hidden gem to stay at in Croyde - Location is great, really close to the centre of croyde and the beach. It was a really beautiful and quirky place to stay, had all the amenities we needed Nothing!
- Kraus (9/5): Well thought out, comfortable and pretty little place - Andrew was very kind and helpful. It was a bonus to be able to park in the private car park opposite as the location is a small village without roadside parking available otherwise.
- Richard (9/5): Superb - Quirky, and full of character but also comfortable with a modern touch. Very clean, a great location and helpful host.
- Benjamin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Leanne (10/5): Fern Cottage Annexcellent - The accomodation is very comfortable, clean, well equipped & good value.
Lovely outdoor area with bbq.
Free off-street parking.
Easy access to beaches & areas of interest in North Devon.
The host Andrew is organised, welcoming, friendly & very helpful.
I highly recommend & will return. That I couldn't stay longer.
- Joanne (8/5): Very good - It was as pics Kitchen was grubby and the whole place was uncomfortable with no where comfortable to sit ..swop the corner unit for a settee and it would be fine
- Pamela (5/5): Passable - Host was very helpful Cleanliness was not the best and needs a microwave
- Thomas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Angela (10/5): A lovely warm annex well stocked with comfortable beds . Short walk from the pub . - The annex was cosy and warm .
Large bed that was really comfortable
Shower was powerful and warm.
Good to be able to park off road Struggled to work out oven temperature as the markings were worn off. Perhaps an oven thermometer would solve this problem
Bathing area is very open plan so would recommend taking some sliders /flip flops as the floor does remain wet . Liked the mats on the floor
- Anthony (8/5): A comfortable stay a short walk from Croyde village centre. - Comfortable and had all that we needed. Convenient location. Friendly host. There was nothing that we didn’t like about the property.
- Jennifer (8/5): Andrew was very accommodating and very helpful. If you had a problem, he was there almost immediately. - Very quiet All the stairs you had to climb and also the bed being up very high does not suit a person with disabilities at all and also had no microwave which would’ve been very useful
- Julia (10/5): Cosy, comfortable and quaint - Warm, cosy and well equipped. Slept very well in the comfortable bed. Enjoyed the excellent, hot shower and spacious, well equipped kitchen. Super location - just a few minutes walk to the centre of the village. Great to have designated parking and a charming garden area. Super value for money. Would love to stay here again. Nothing it was perfect!
- Robert (9/5): Perfect for a couple. Great location. - Perfect for us as a couple.
Walking distance to Croyde village.
Lovely Nothing
- Kenneth (4/5): Disgusting, avoid all costs - Great location, easy key collection, heated mirror, allocated car space No microwave, dirty crockery/utensils/glasses.Unable to operate hob, overflowing shower tray, dead earwigs under musky smelling cushions, damp feeding bed,no proper mattress protector but worst of all penny pinching heating, shocking!!!!
- Sophie (9/5): Tucked away little pocket of comfort. - Location was excellent and parking was good. Central heating and hot water were great. Kitchen was well equipped. Ingenious bathroom had a great shower but may not be to everyone’s taste as privacy was not immediately apparent. Bed was incredibly comfortable. It is mentioned in the description but getting into the bed was a bit like hard work, but then I have some mobility issues and had been forewarned. Perhaps something like a small set of steps rather than a box would make it feel a bit more sturdy.
- Joshua (10/5): Wonderful Stay at Fern Cottage! - Wonderful Stay at Fern Cottage!
We had an absolutely fantastic stay at Fern Cottage in Croyde, Devon. The cottage itself was incredibly cosy, well-stocked, and felt like a home away from home. Everything we could possibly need was provided, and the attention to detail made our stay very comfortable.
A special mention goes to the host, Andrew, who was exceptionally welcoming and helpful. He provided great local suggestions, and we followed his advice to eat at the Blue Groove, which was an excellent experience. We also took his recommendation for a walk over the moors to Saunton – the views were breathtaking!
Fern Cottage and the entire experience were top-notch. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay, and we’re already looking forward to coming back! Na
- Martin (6/5): Not very good! We booked out after one night! - Location was fine!! This property is not suitable for those who are not fully mobile as the bed, which is very comfortable, is quite a mountaineering feat to get into with only a box to stand on!!
- Noj85 (8/5): A wonderful stay - Great hosts, quirky accommodation, fantastic location. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again.
- Sally (10/5): Exceptional - Quaint, close to village centre, parking space. Lovely area outside patio doors to sit and enjoy the evening, comfy and has everything we needed. Highly recommend the property.
- Laura (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wesley (8/5): Very relaxed and enjoyable - Location great
- Gillian (10/5): Small, yet perfectly formed. Handy for beach and the best pubs. - It was beautifully designed for a couples holiday. Quiet location with everything we needed for a lovely week Nothing
- Chris (10/5): Good location, affordable and comfortable. - Very comfortable. The host was brilliant. I forgot something and he posted it to me.
- James (8/5): Very good -
- Francesca (10/5): Exceptional -
- Claire (8/5): Enjoyable and Andrew was an excellent host - Small compact and well located If I was being extremely critical a bit more equipment in kitchen. But that is a very minor point
- Sophie (10/5): Great place to stay in Croyde. - This is a gem of a property and is bigger than the photos suggest. Comfortable bed and an outside area to sit in the sunshine. Perfect location, just ten minutes or so from the high street and a bit further on to the beach. Andrew was a respectful and accommodating host throughout our stay.
- Laura (9/5): Recommend for a quiet place to stay near to Croyde centre for solo or couple. - The annexe is only short walk to Croyde centre down and has everything you need for a comfy stay. Easy to park with own space, roomier than the pictures, attractive features. Set in Andrew’s lovely garden but with own access and area. Recommended.
- Anthony (7/5): Good - Andrew is a great host and the annex had everything I needed for an amazing stay in beautiful Croyde. A short walk took me into the village and a little further to the beach!
- Richard (9/5): Superb -
- Schofield (9/5): Cute and quirky cottage - I loved the location. Such a lovely walk to Croyde village/beach. Ideal starting point for hiking, very picturesque and quiet location. The flowers and local cider as part of the starter pack were super fabulous. A very pretty small garden with palms and flowers and birds. Would be lovely to sit out on warm evenings. Please communicate with the owner re keys arrangements. I didn't initially and this led to some confusion but when I eventually did, he was most helpful. The bed has been mentioned in previous reviews as a bit awkward to get in. Well it's a built in bed on a raised platform and you need to step on a box to get in bed. A bit strange on the first night but it's not a problem really. Quirky but so cute. It met all my needs and more. I slept very well, sooo quiet.
- Hywel (9/5): Quirky and convenient. - Perfect location near to Croyde and coastal walks. The accommodation is quirky and original with everything you need for a short stay. In the summer it would be even better as the little patio area looks great.
Free parking helps too Bed a little awkward to get into after a long day walking and tired legs!
- John (10/5): Quirky but well thought out, highly recommended - Just a short 10 min walk from the village centre, but take a torch. Quirky but well appointed. A friendly welcome and easy parking. Bit of a step up into bed worth remembering when you get up in the night.
