- Col335 (6/5): Budget, clean, but WiFi needs checking if travelling for business - The room and bathroom (single room) was clean and is a good size. You go up some staircases to get to the rooms. It also felt safe and check out is very simple - just drop the keys off. I travelled for business purposes so was relying in the advert which stated there was WiFi. But when I went into the room, my phone and laptop could not connect to the "2.4g" WiFi for the rooms. I went down to the pub at least 3 times to clarify the password and the landlady even wrote it out and let me take a photo of the passcode. But the WiFi still wouldn't work on both my devices. I checked the password several times. Phone service isn't great in the area either, so i could not access the internet on my phone that well, or use my phone hotspot. I asked for the other wifi code for the pub That worked fine so I sat in the pub and used the "15Guest" WiFi instead. The advert said the pub was open until 10.30pm and guests are welcome to join the locals, but because I was the last one in the pub at 8.30pm on the Tuesday night, I was asked to leave as she wanted to close early. Unfortunately this affected the work I needed to do that evening which was disappointing. It would be great if the staff can look at the WiFi situation. If I wasn't travelling for business the WiFi thing wouldn't have been an issue.
- Antony Peter (1/5): Potential for fraud - Avoid if you want ro avoid potential card fraud - they insist on writing on a paper form kept behind the bar your full card details, including the cvc, date of birth, address etc which is totally against UK banking regulations. Your card could be used if that data gets into wrong hands No code in room for WiFi in the old Doctors Surgery building, bar had closed so couldn't obtain it.

- David (5/5): Sadly disappointing - The staff were very friendly and helpful, although very difficult to contact Somebody had snapped a key in the entrance to the rooms however there was no one on site to help with the situation as well as no contact phone numbers for us to ring to try and get help which meant people have to stay in other hotels and other rooms all crammed into one.

- Stan (3/5): Never will I stay in that place again - There were no lights woking in a widow less corridor, loose floorboards at the foot of stairs, low wattage bulbs in the room and i mean LOW, TV not working shower door would not stay closed +no soap in shower. They were going to change our room Saturday morning stayed until 11.30 no one around main entrance closed unable to contact anyone So left around 12noon.

Een andere kamer waar een vriend sliep hed alleen koud water in zijn douche.

- Ron (5/5): Slechte ervaring - Het bed en de ietwat oubollig Burlesque ingerichte kamer. De herberg bestaat uit 2 etages, kamer 1 tot en met 5 zijn via een deur aan de linkerzijkant van het pand bereikbaar, kamer 5 (ja 2x kamer 5) via een deur aan de rechterzijkant. Ohnee, toch niet. Dus alleen via de trap in de pub, die echter wel om 23:00 sluit, en je dus voor die tijd binnen moet zijn. Ik had kamer 4, mijn reisgenoot 7, dus we konden elkaar niet bereiken. Op.zaterdagochtend bleek.dat ik op mijn kamer alleen gloeiend heet water in de douche had, en mijn kameraad in kamer 7 alleen ijskoud water. Klagen kan pas na 12 uur, want dan is de bar open. Wij hadden echter afspraken dus konden we om 21:30 uur pas klagen. Ja het was bekend, maar ze konden helaas niks doen. Als we een accomodatie konden vinden voor de rest van ons verblijf zouden we ons geld terug krijgen, als we bleven konden ze niks voor ons doen. De gratis WiFi, ja die werkt als je aan de bar zit, op de kamers is geen bereik. Van enige gastvrijheid was geen sprake, klagen kon ik bij Booking.com. Uiteraard heb ik.dat gedaan, maar ook die doen niet veel voor hun gasten. 14 euro "schadevergoeding", dat is het.

- Suzanne (7/5): Good value stay in sizeable room - Clean, warm, comfortable, quiet, except for… …maybe a water pump which would make a loud noise about every hour even at night! Rooms were numbered, but when I booked I was apparently given Pemberton room, so the guy at the bar told me I hadn’t booked at Swinley, but at their Pemberton pub, so I’d have to drive 15 minutes away! Good job I rechecked my booking because I WAS booked at Swinley, but apparently the name of the room was Pemberton. Daft! Just go by room numbers, Booking.com!!

- Janet (3/5): No heatingnor hot water - Staff were friendly but management did leave them in the lurch when faced with a problem. When it was established that there was no hot water or heating we were told we would have to leave if we wanted a refund. It was 8.30pm and we really felt like we were put into a position of being sent away. Staff on site tried to fix the issue but no manager was available as they were too "busy" elsewhere.

- bradley (5/5): Please buy some new stuff - The bed was comfortable and the sheets were clean the bar at night was well stocked and the staff were very accommodating There is no way to get from the bar to the room so we had to go outside to into my room. When we got up to the room the smell in the corridor was horrendous and is probably caused by damp and extremely off putting i feel like this is something that can easily be fixed When in my room the television remote did not work but there is TVs in the bar so this wasn't a big problem for me The shower head drips non stop after turning it off however replacing the shower head for a larger one will stop the dripping. There was only one cushion on the bed and i would expect two cushions for the price paid for the room I would also like to have a hairdryer with a functional radiator or clear instructions on how to use it When checking out I had no idea where to put my room keys and again this can be rectified with a clear sign To sum up the whole place needs a lick of paint with some modernised amenities and equipment and I would be happy to give a 8 or 9

- Anthony (7/5): No problems and great for a cheap stay over. - Great location on the edge of the town with other good pubs around and a short stroll into Wigan. Ideal for ourGroups visit to Haydock Races and a night out after in Wigan Very helpful staff who accommodated leaving out bags as an early check-in. Rooms are clean and comfortable with TV. Nice hot shower. The place is a bit dated but not an issue for us. Car Parking is not available. You can park for an hour free or pay for an hour at one just up the road. Further away you can pay on the street for 4 hours then it’s free from 5pm. Currently free parking in Wigan car parks at the weekend with a couple 5 minutes walk away.

- Ken (8/5): Comfortable and good price (special deal). - Having stayed in the main building rooms, and Doctits surgery rooms this was what I expected. But needs a bit of maintenance etc. Soap in shower had run out. But plenty at the sink. Towel rail loose at one end. Needs fixing before it breaks. Otherwise 100% OK.

- Sofia (4/5): Great location, spring mattress ( no comfy),not noisy room , lovely staff - The location and staff were very kind and attentive . Bathroom had a towel dryer with heating on. My bed had springs , I didn’t sleep well . I need a better mattress quality to sleep well.
- Kirstin (3/5): Don't bother, especially if you are a female solo traveller. - The bed was the best bit of the stay although that had marks on it too. Good size room I'm not usually a complainer, I've stayed in hostels and hotels all over the world with 2 stars, but this time??? Someone attempted to break into my room at 10pm and I was met with "oh its probably the new guy" okay but it was 4 of them and they were also attempting to look in my window and repeatedly pulling the door handle!!, the bathroom window was smashed and boarded up, stains on bed and no soap, had to go back to reception to ask for soap to wash my hands. Room was rundown and honestly left 1 night earlier than planned, didn't feel safe.

- Jordan (1/5): Bed bugs!!! - Nothing I didn't like the number of bedbugs I saw in the bed with me when I woke in the morning. They were crawling over me during the night and there were spots of blood all over the sheet where I had squashed the little blood suckers while sleeping. The bed was infested, absolutely disgusting!This accommodation should not be habitable or advertised in Booking.com

- Brian (1/5): Travellers Beware. - There was nothing to like, I was shut out and had to find alternative accommodation. My flight to the UK was diverted and it was going to be a struggle to get to Wigan before the 10pm check in deadline. I was reassured when told I could check in at the pub below the rooms up to 10.30pm. I arrived at 10.20 but the pub was already closed. I was told the next day the pub had closed around 9.30pm. Both me, a fellow traveller also shut out and the pub staff across the road tried the phone the contact numbers, no reply.
- Rachael (9/5): - Great little pub. Not far from town centre and easy walk to stadium to watch rugby league. Friendly staff. Clean rooms. Easily found parking on surrounding streets. Only downside was the pub closed too early. Would've loved to have spent a bit more time there in the evenings after being out and about during the day.
