Guest Reviews
- Wiesmann (8/5): - Food was
- Ariadna (9/5): - The staff was marvelous. We were right in front of the sea, the hotel is beautiful with a very lush garden. Breakfast was delicious. We liked the warm lighting of the hotel by night. The room was very nice. The pool was not clean. It needs improvement.
- Sandra (9/5): - Makunduchi is an hidden gem, extremely quiet, nice and war ocean waters (differently from the much cooler water we found in the north of Zanzibar). The accommodation has everything you need to relax and enjoy just being there. The quality of restaurant food is excellent, although a little pricey wrt to other places in Zanzibar, the decor in the rooms and common spaces show nice original touches, I would definitely want to come back. The lighting in the room is a little too weak, and the mosquito net at the windows (great plus btw) are not working perfectly, still it is nice to have them so that we could keep the windows open. There is also a mosquito net on the bed anyway.
- Beatriz (9/5): Fabuleux -
- HADEEL (3/5): - Quit - No refrigerator
- No water heater
- No hair dryer
- Body towels smell bad
- The swimming pool is small
- You can see the kitchen, which is dirty and has flies.
- The manager was rude.
- The beach is unclean and not suitable for swimming. It's better to choose Kendwa or Paje beaches.
- In addition, some clothes are missing!
- HMK (10/5): -
- Gabriella (8/5): Very good -
- Tilea (10/5): Exceptional -
- Oana (6/5): Not a pleasant stay - Nice location, relaxing, quiet. The satff not so friendly, they only came in the first day to ask us what we prefer to drink at the pool area and for the rest of the days we had to go allways at bar to order, and they seemed like we were bothering them. Very few clients in the hotel, they were almost all the time behind the bar looking on the phone, ar just doing nothing, no smile on their faces. I travel a lot and I’ve never seen until now such an unfriendly staff…only this year I have been in Zanzibar in two simillar small resorts but it was perfect with great staff, instead at Ujama I was disappointed.
Most of them are untrained, they don’t know the meniu, when you order they had to go in the kitchen to ask the chef 2 or 3 time, witch is annoying.. they don’t know wich is the desert of the day.. all the time they say “ let me ask the chef”…., sometimes you order one thing you get something else.
The food is basic…and a lot of dishes are missing.
The pool is dirty.
- Anna-maria (10/5): Time to relax - Very friendly staff, quiet, good for relaxing, food is very tasty
- Gemma (9/5): Fantastic stay! Very peaceful location. - Rustic and dreamy feel.
Roger who runs the resort is very friendly and helpful. Miriam was also very nice. All staff were very friendly.
Great pool (3 depths). Great restaurant area with sofas and daybeds with mosquito nets. Really great food, deserts and juices.
Super calm beach area (nobody bothers you to purchase anything).
Bungalows are very private, with their own porche with sofa and coffee table. Beds are extra large and with a very spacious mosquito net. AC is available (but we did not need it). Hot water shower is great. Straw hats, beach tote bag and locally made robes are available in the room for us to use during our stay. :) Wifi is available in the restaurant area (not in bungalows) and it can vary in intensity. The hotel is quite remote so it is not quite their fault.
- Virginie (1/5): Never again! - The location is far, you have to paid a taxi 20 USD to reach the nearest village, Jambiani.
I was the only guest in the compound and not feeling safe. The reception was closed when arrived and staff were not aware about my stay despite booking in advance(internal miscommunication and recurrent issues with Booking based on information received so far). Never had a such bad experience in Zanzibar (third long stay on the island). Interaction with the manager was not respectful. The satisfaction of the customer is not a priority. If I compare this accommodation with others having the same standards, this one is over-rated. I've left after one night and a basic breakfast.
- Clive (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jo (9/5): Superb - Quiet and relaxing chilled place, with well stocked bar and really nice restaurant. would stay here again or pop in on a day trip.....cheap massages, very good
- Shylet (1/5): Bad - FLIES AROUND UNCOVERED FOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS APPAULING LACK OF ENGLISH SPEAKING STAFF
- Pascal (9/5): Superb -
- Simon (10/5): Exceptional - This really is a wonderful place everything you need to relax. Small place, just 12 rooms, perfectly formed! Superb outlook, great bungalow accommodation, fabulous team of well trained locals led by one of the coolest and most efficient guys I have come across. Roger the Rasta is on it and you wouldn't even know it.
Great choice of food and reasonably priced. Plenty of varieties of drinks and if you want something specific for your stay Roger and his team will oblige. Nothing seems too much.
My daughters had a number of spa treatments as did some of the other guests who were there and all came back glowing.
There were some low key, very entertaining events put on that got all guests hooked.
Would definitely like to return soon!
- Leah (8/5): great food in chill vibes - The food overall was great. Deliciously prepared and high quality for sure.
I loved the vibe of the place and how quiet and relaxed it was. When we wanted entertainment, we could just walk to a neighboring hotel but definitely preferred the atmosphere of ujamaa and the staff. Breakfast could've done with more variety day to day (we stayed 4 nights).
We pre-ordered a private dinner and I thought we could pick which night. Instead, it was on the night we arrived when we were delayed, exhausted and unable to fully enjoy it. Also, a meal kept warm is never to the full standards that the kitchen originally prepares it.
- Abdoullah (10/5): best vacation - everything was excellent property staff food nature everything was excellent nothing
- Hamid (8/5): Very good - Location and Staff were amazing
Also rooms were cleane As it was off season, they were short of staff, also didn't like the shower water as it was salty.
- Karin (9/5): Superb - It was quite, good service of lovely staff. The pool is great, the ocean so lovely when the tide is high. All decorations looks good. I like everything but be where of its very calm and it’s not much to do. If you want to do tours you have to hire a care and it’s kind of expensive compared to everything else. Just go to Ujaama and Makunduchi to chill.
- Jan (8/5): Cozy place with nice food and employees! - Breakfeast was quite good. We could order fresh coffe, avocado, mango and egg which is a big plus for us. Lots of options, all of us was very pleased. The caffe-latte was a bit inconsistent, sometimes very good other times not so much.
