Guest Reviews
- Barbara (10/5): Great place to stay. - Welcoming accommodation...all very clean and good facilities. Lovely hosts. Thoroughly recommend.
- sally (10/5): - Easy to find, secure parking, bright airy room, very clean and tidy, beautiful area. Lovely pub with good food opposite. No dislikes.
- Katrin (10/5): - Eine besonders liebevoll eingerichtete Unterkunft, sehr bequeme Betten, wunderbares Bad - rundum : ankommen und wohlfühlen
- Stephen (10/5): Brilliantly located for Avebury etc. Excellent hosts. - Lovely room - clean, comfortable, well-appointed. n/a
- Rose and Tim (10/5): Great place to stay - quiet, clean and comfy - Beautiful location and the place was quiet, clean and well kept. A sweet basket of breakfast goodies and coffee were included. We only stayed one night, but would have loved to stay longer. The jacuzzi was an added bonus as we had been traveling for almost two weeks and it was great to have a soak! Can't think of anything
- Julie (10/5): Warm and welcoming - This property, while having its own entrance, is in the heart of a family home, which was perfect for me as a solo traveller—I felt safe and well looked-after. The owners are truly lovely people, and I took advantage of Kate's beauty therapy business by having a wonderful massage and a facial. The room is very spacious and comfortable. The pub across the street has fabulous food and a warm welcome, and there were beautiful walks from the doorstep. I appreciated the jacuzzi bath after my long walk! Although being right in the middle of a family home is great in terms of safety, I could hear the family going about their daily business, so this might not be the ideal stay for someone wanting a lot of privacy and quiet. But if you want to meet new people and feel very welcome, you'll feel at home.
- Katrina (9/5): - Everything is thought of. Beautiful design. Super comfy bed 👍🏻 Thank you Kate for Hackpen Hill recommendation for sunset - it was glorious! All perfect for me.
- LUCY (10/5): - Perfect location, good parking, clean, tidy, good facilities, good decor, comfortable and quiet.
- Mike (10/5): Great - All good Pillows could have been softer but that's a v personal thing and most people will be fine.
- siobhan (10/5): - beautiful place, deserves to be busy. Very comfortable bed, tastefully decorated, lovely little kitchenette, comfy sofa. All you need for a home away from home. Also very quiet, with a serene feel to the place. Perfect for me as I was on a meditation weekend. It was only a hop and a jump to Avebury in the car. Private parking - reversing in to the drive was a challenge for me in the dark so be advised the drive is not at a 90 degree angle to the gate! Once you understand that you're grand. a key for the inside door to be annex would be better. Outside door was always unlocked when I got back at night. There was someone there all weekend and I completely trusted the owner would not come in to my side, but you never know, some desperado might one day wander in and see what they could find. It just adds greater peace of mind for the traveller. Thanks.
- Pete (9/5): Great place and village. Lovely pub opposite with good food - Lovely place, well furnished and looked after
- Kimberly (10/5): Looking forward to returning to this perfect accomodation with great hosts. - The accomodation was very clean and had all of the facilities that we needed. The host was very accommodating and friendly. There is secure parking on site. The location was perfect for visiting Avebury. The local pub and Italian restaurant were very close by. As a bonus the host offered holistic and beauty services and she managed to fit me in for a lovely massage. All great. No issues.
- Alexandra (10/5): - I had a wonderful stay at the Laurels Retreat! The accommodation is divine - immaculately clean, incredibly comfortable, perfectly proportioned, well-located. Furthermore, the kitchenette is really well equipped (more than the listing lets on!). Plus, the host, Kate, is the tops-- friendly, available, super helpful, but with the utmost respect for her guests' privacy. It was a home away from home. I can't recommend this place enough and hope I have the opportunity to return!
- Amanda (10/5): Perfect stay excellent facilities will definitely stay again - Great host made us welcome with our dog
Fab location short drive to Avebury
Spotless clean
Perfect for us Nothing to fault

- Luke (8/5): Overall excellent.🫶😀 -
- Scott (10/5): Very happy and would definitely go again if I’m in that area. - Very high standard of furnishings, clean, good facilities. There was nothing I didn’t like.
- Andrea (10/5): Excellent place to sleep one night or to stay for days. - The welcome was very warm and friendly, Kate and her mom Julia were very kind. We were shown around the place.
The garden is very beautiful. The apples and pears were just ripe. We were free to pick them and take them with us. The accommodation provided was excellent in every respect. We have been living in England for 13 years, and during that time we have stayed in several places, but this was by far the best place we have ever stayed.
- Graeme Cuthbertson (10/5): -
- Nigel (8/5): Nice 2 night sta - Warm hospitality. Stylish accommodation, excellent massage treatment. On site secure parking.
- Bethan (10/5): - Spotlessly clean.
Good location in pretty Wiltshire village with a pub in touching distance, and a nice Italian restaurant a short walk.
Good kitchen appliances, for a couple days break.
Decent parking space.
Accomadation attached to a family home, but that had no negative impact on our stay, as you feel very separate from the home with a separate entrance. Nothing,
- virginia (9/5): Beautiful unit. - Beautifully thought out and decorated unit. Quiet rural location that was perfect for us. Very comfy bed. Very well equipped kitchenette. I prefer cotton bedding. The duvet cover was synthetic. But this is really a very picky thing. I slept very well!
- Rebecca (9/5): Lovely stay - We stopped on our way back home from seeing family at Christmas. A lovely informative message before we arrived and a nice welcome from the hosts mum when we pulled up. A lovely place, spacious, warm and welcoming with some lovely little touches. Comfortable bed and a lovely jacuzzi bath !! Pub opposite although we did not get to visit. We will definitely be looking at a return visit Not a negative but could be useful for other guests. The property is not detached from the hosts home (we didn’t check before arrival) and with a slightly nervous dog noises did cause him to bark and we were worried he’d disturb people (apologies for any disturbance) This did not spoil our stay but might help others who are looking to book.

- Karen (10/5): -
- Sri (9/5): Lovely and quiet retreat - The place was conveniently located in a quiet village with a nice little restaurant ( La Strada ) within driving distance. The room was a good size with a kitchenette and everything you might need for a short stay away from home. Our host, Kate was very friendly and welcoming. Nothing to speak of. It's best and safe to reverse into the drive to avoid driving back on to a road although we were informed about this in the email that followed through booking and was not a problem at all as there was plenty of space.
- Hurran (10/5): - Modern, clean, comfortable spacious and opposite the local pub and great walks for our dog.
Hosts and locals were extremely friendly and approchable. This is truly a minor thing but in the room at night it wasn't as dark as we are use to as there are slated blinds.
- Anthony (10/5): Excellent open plan apartment ideally situated in rural village opposite a pub yet only 25 minutes or so from the M4. - Fabulously appointed.
Very clean.
Nicely decorated.
Well laid out.
Quiet.
Friendly owner.
Excellent location in small village opposite pub with amazing food.

- Paul (10/5): Fantastische plek om heerlijk te ontspannen - Perfecte plek om meerdere nachten te verblijven, helaas hadden wij maar tijd voor een nacht. Gastvrije ontvangst. -
- Jonathan (10/5): Lovely quiet spot - Lovely tranquil little village with excellent, traditional pub (The Crown) opposite serving high quality fare. I recommend apthe short walk around the back of the pub and church. The room with en-suite bathroom we had was large comfortable and absolutely fine for our purposes.
- Julie (10/5): Perfection! We could not fault one thing. - Everything. Its location for us was perfect. Communication with our host throughout was exceptional. The Retreat was a lovely place to stay and we could not fault anything. There wasn’t anything that we did not like. Apart from that we couldn’t stay longer!
- Patricia (10/5): Beautiful property, finished to a high standard - The accommodation was finished to a very high standard, hosts were lovely, fab little pub directly opposite. Couldn't fault a thing. It was dog friendly and had private parking. Just beautiful and spotless There was nothing to dislike

- Ryan (10/5): Lovely! - A lovely, clean, spacious, modern property with everything you need. Would highly recommend.
- Sabrina (10/5): - The property was peaceful, and we had our own privacy. Spacious garden which our dogs really enjoyed.
- auntie-acid (8/5): - sehr liebevoll und individuell eingerichtet WLAN hat leider nur ca. 1h lang funktioniert.
sehr hellhöriges Gebäude (man hört jeden Schritt aus dem Obergeschoss)
- Mike (10/5): Perfect stopover - Great little stopover perfect for one night or several.
Very clean, excellent facilities
Safe off street parking. N/A
- James (10/5): -
- Gareth (10/5): Lovely place and family to stay with . - Everything was great. Kate and her family are so nice. Kate’s mum met us on arrival, an amazing lady, keep up the good work , whatever you are doing it is working for you. The Laurels is near to pubs , takeaways and in a great area. Please note the pub over the road is being taken over so hours may differ . Thank you so much for a relaxing birthday weekend.
- S (9/5): -
- Tania (10/5): Wonderful! - Clean fresh and lovely bed and linen. The host was on site to greet us and show us around, and how to use the shower and TV etc…
Some useful basics were included, tea and coffee, salt pepper, olive oil, some biscuits. All much appreciated!
There is a Jacuzzi bath… And luckily the host advised that after about 40 minutes it makes a noise to do a self clean… So when it went off I wasn’t alarmed.
Lovely location, easy to get to Avebury and Marlborough… we went to peavy too..
Loved the whole stay and would recommend to anyone to stay there for a rest and a slower pace than where I live.
I never had the chance to try out the hosts beauty treatments as there were things that we wanted to do. Don’t hesitate, book!
We would love to go and stay again Maybe some curtains to cut out morning daylight that the blinds let through
- Elena (10/5): Amazing location & accomodation - Nice, clean & cozy property and village with all the amenities needed - parking space in the garden closed by gates, fridge, mini-kitchen, comfortable mattress, dog friendly if needed, enclosed garden, clean bathroom, nice restaurant close by (La Strada) Pillows a bit too big/hard, but it’s better to sleep without pillows anyway!
- Mr (8/5): Very good - Nice warm welcome. Nice clean and spacious.
- Eric (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jane (9/5): Hidden gem. - The accommodation was clean and compact. It was well equipped (though you will need to bring a hairdryer). Jacuzzi bath! It's securely gated if you have dogs. Nice pub (no food) across the road. Easy to get to shops. Lovely countryside and easy to get to Avebury, Salisbury and Bath. .
- Brett (10/5): We felt very welcome from the moment we arrived - Everything, very roomey with excellent facilities. Lovely decor, comfortable bed. I could not find a fault - everyone was so helpful and very friendly. i could not fault it
- Kim (10/5): Perfect - Very comfy clean and loved the little village and people from our hosts and family and dog to the pub over road and lovely Italian restaurant and wonderful staff , who sang happy birthday to me , definitely be back
- Clare (9/5): Comfortable stay 10mins drive from Avebury - Host had made a clean, comfortable, airy space. We had everything we needed except shampoo. All fine
- Gill (10/5): Perfect location, perfect place to stay and relax. - I thoroughly enjoyed my mini break accompanied by my dog at the Laurels Retreat. Kate and her family are very welcoming and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The Retreat is very homely and comfortable with all the facilities and equipment you need for a self catering holiday. Very dog friendly too, with a large enclosed shared garden and water bowl outside the entrance door. Just perfect.
The Laurels Retreat is situated in a great location for visiting Avebury Stones just a few miles away. Marlborough is also very close with lots of interesting independent shops. There are lots of walks in the area, Windmill Hill from Avebury is a good one, approx. 4 mile circular walk which takes you back to Avebury where you can enjoy a well deserved cold beer in the dog friendly pub. There is a walk from Laurels Retreat through some fields to the next village of Winterbourne where there is another dog friendly pub and a lovely church. While driving around, we also discovered a large garden centre, Studley Grange. As well as a garden centre, there is a butterfly world and farm park. On the site nearby there is a large pet centre which is full of treats and toys and friendly staff, my dog loved it!
I would highly recommend the Laurels Retreat and would definitely visit again.
- Geraldine (9/5): Great - We bought breakfast in Swindon Nothing just jaquizzi went off made a noise at night

- Amanda (9/5): Superb - Very nice decor and high standards through out. Family lovely to meet. Nothing to dislike.
Pub opposite looked nice and handy too but closed Sunday evening.
- Paula (9/5): Great space for doing your own thing - Spacious room with kitchenette and own entrance which gave a more relaxing feel than a hotel room. Were not able to find any heating controls or inatructions to warm the room as the weather turned cold

The apartment is beautifully furnished, with very nice large living room, a lovely bathroom and small kitchen. Kate and her family were very welcoming. The WiFi was not 100% reliable, but it was not a problem as there is good 4G phone coverage.

The Laurel's Rest is in a lovely quiet village, opposite a nice pub. Good food and well priced (coming from Londoners, anyway!)
The room and facilities were excellent. It had all been arranged in a way that really felt like we were away for a nice, cosy romantic weekend. Clean and new pots, pans etc I wish I had a little bit of salt! It would have made the eggs even better 😋
- Piers (10/5): Exceptional - Immaculate and amazingly comfy
- John (10/5): A comfortable apartment in a beautiful and fascinating area. - A self-catering apartment that was roomy, clean and very well equipped. It was accessible and private, The owners were welcoming and available should we have needed them. For us, the location was perfect. The main lighting was not bright. It was too dim to read a paper in the evenings. I made do with my kindle, which is self-lit. But a minor shortcoming.
- Caroline (10/5): Exceptional - Clean, welcoming, perfect
- Maicey (10/5): Cosy comfortable and relaxing :) - Katie was great with showing us the property, helped us with the wifi, told us some things to do round the area. Very lovely and friendly :)

Very modern, comfortable and spacious.
Even had a ninja in the kitchen.
The welcome hamper was a lovely touch!
Jacuzzi and shower was amazing!
Katie also offers Many different types of health and beauty treatments in her studio at very reasonable prices!
Despite being in a village (5mins from Avebury!), we were lucky to have a good pub opposite and a Very good italian restaurant just a few minutes walk away.
Highly recommend. Enjoy x
- Hannah (9/5): Extremely comfortable and spacious accommodation, well equipped kitchenette and ensuite - Location was perfect. Opposite the village pub for nice meals and drinks. So close to lots of lovely Wiltshire landmarks and great location for walking. The icing on the cake was that I could have a massage and a facial on site which turned a fabulous place into my very own spa experience. Nothing I can think of
