Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Walking distance to beaches and trails. Downtown short walk.
- W (4/5): - Served the purpose to sleep but that's all. Close to water front.
- Lora (6/5): - The outside was nice but the inside wasn’t bad. Flushing the toilet takes a little long but over good place. We booked it late but the worker stayed half hour later than normal to check us in.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The lady was wonderful and understanding at check in. Her husband wasn’t so pleasant at check out. The room was in ok shape.
There was hole punched into the back of the bathroom door, toilet didn’t want to flush properly and fly’s in the bathtub. Really should be fixed. But what do expect for the price of a night’s stay. Otherwise my stay was worth it. I would probably stay again if I had to.
- Diane Savoie (8/5): - It meets our needs
- Marilyn (6/5): Experience - The room smelled of a strong cigarette smell. It was in poor shape. Not the cleaness. Cobwebs on corners of the room. Sink leaked.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - This hotel is disgusting. What else do you want me to say?
- Verified traveler (2/5): 👎👎 - Very rude staffs. No consideration for a refund after 2 hrs of my reservation. They let me know that I can’t refund at check out time, they should have said it right away when I ask but instead told me to wait for their manager decision on next day. Otherwise we’ll come and spend the night there than paying for nothing.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Don't Stay - Reception area smelled. Room flooded. No other rooms so only towels placed on the floor. No refund or discount offered. Place is very run down. Won't ever stay there again.
- G. (4/5): - Location to the venue was fine the $30 dollar taxi I felt was steep. Didn’t like the sketchy door& lock.
It was clean thankfully.
What I did NOT like was being Charges $25 dollars more to check in early!!! My room was ready it was NO inconvenience to him to open the lobby door to hand me my key!!!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The property was located off of a Main Street in Orillia.
There was a crack in the front door (which is in front of the bed) which allowed anyone to look in (eliminating any privacy as you got into or out of the bed) and observe you or a guest.
The bed was wobbly and not very secure. The curtains allowed people from the outside, to look inside (again, not a lot of privacy).
The tub’s floor was very slippery during the shower (the motel needs to apply some slip resistance substance on the floor of the tub.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great place for the price... - Close to Rama, $20 cab ride to the casino. Cheap room. Friendly staff. Room was ok. Get what you pay for.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - the bedding and room was as clean as could be expected for the condition of the room i wouldn't return there for another stay
- Verified traveler (4/5): - There where clean sheets and towels. However the rest of the room was less than substandard. Walls where dirty and I was afraid to touch anything
- R3802ZKnancyd (2/5): Disgusting!! - Very poorly kept! Stinks!! Everything in the room reeked of cigarette smoke. Bugs crawling on the walls. Over charged me even though I pre booked at said price. Not a pleasant owner/operator. The place should be condemned.
Be aware!!!!
- Cher415 (2/5): The place should be shut down - This place should. Be shut down ! Room 18 was the worst room I have ever stayed in ! Got the room key and went for late supper and back to room ! Opened the door and it stunk so bad 😢 Went to pull back the covers on the bed and there was a big huge burn hole on the blanket. The bed had dark black hair on it ! After carefully examining the bed I took pictures of black things on the mattress. Although to my surprise they moved ! Geez ! I was freaking out ! I called the number for the hotel reservations and the owner answered . As I was freaking out to him as it is now almost 1115 Pm tell him to get me a new room or give me my $ back. He comes immediate and them give me a room lower ! I never slept a wink ! I put the one towel on top of the bed spread and sat up all night clothes and all ! My husband was exhausted from driving . We left everything in our vehicle and he slept on top of his sleeping bag 💼 clothes and all
The place is terrible and if they even offered me to stay for free I would have to pass .
- Shawk619 (4/5): A bed to sleep in - This place was really sketchy. I came to Orillia for a 24-hour poker adventure, and the hotel across the street was fully booked as it usually is on show nights. Ended up at Bayview Inn at 2am.
The man seemed bothered by me showing up. He asked me a bunch of questions in a tone I didn't appreciate it, and reiterated that he'd charge me if I smoked in the room. Thanks guy, I just signed your waiver telling me that already.
I usually sleep naked but I got itchy as soon as I laid down. So I ended up sleeping with my clothes on.
Literally the only thing I appreciated about this place was the fact that my favorite movie was on TV when I arrived. So I used that entertainment to distract myself from the trash accommodation I was staying in.
- Latino81 (6/5): Would I stay here again? - Only if there was no other choice as was the situation staying this weekend, We could not find a one night stay anywhere without being far away from casino and having tickets to Stevie Wonder concert.
Being that we are 2 males it wasn't that bad for us but I'm sure ladies would not stay there. I even contemplated sleeping with my cloths on.
We did check for bugs and mice doo as we were on ground level but found no signs.
The bedding was clean and unwrinkled and the bath was fine,.
- wanderfitz (2/5): Better known locally as - The Bedbug Inn - Nasty. The bed was crawling with bedbugs. The place reeked of pesticide. Cab driver warned us about the meth heads. We left as soon as we saw the bugs. Did not stay. Couldn't breath. Disgusting. They marked us as a no show on bookings.com so I couldn't write a review there. But I would not stay here EVER! Got itchy as soon as we walked in the room.
- 923sherryw (2/5): ZERO!!! Didn't honour the expedia booking - We booked over a month ago to attend concert at Casino Rama. Arrived to find they "lost" our booking. Person at counter rude. Place smells terrible. Had to find somewhere else last minute. WARNING - DO NOT BOOK HERE
- Soapsudsandjello (2/5): Wish I could rate ZERO! - Being a big fan of concerts at Rama and having been burned in the past, we realize how important it is to book early! We booked this in THREE MONTHS AGO and received confirmation so purchased expensive convert tickets. This morning, less than 2 weeks before our concert the inn called to say they have no rooms available for our dates. What??? How do you not have a room when this was booked three months ago!! They then proceeded to tell us we would have to cancel through booking.com and we’re responsible to pay a CANCELLATION FEE! Reading some of the reviews, I’m almost glad except for the fact it will be impossible to find suitable accommodations now. Extremely pi$ed off!
- rondil2018 (2/5): Disgusting Rip-off - Pictures shown to make you want to stay look nice - very deceiving. Absolutely disgusting - dirty, moldy, everything you touched was sticky. Unsafe as door handles and dead bolts don't work properly - got locked inside one room a couple of times. Slept on top of the bed with my coat over me. Will never stay there again.
- eric-gaudreau (2/5): Don't do it! - We stayed here Saturday night because of the location close Casino Rama. Liked the newly renovated bathroom and sink area but more needs to be done. This place is only surface clean don't move any furniture and maybe sleep on the top blanket with your clothes on. Huge disappointment no coffee maker....not coming back
- G5213LUjasonk (10/5): great place for your money - I got a great deal for a one night stay nice quiet place clean awesome friendly staff plain room so your not paying for extras you'll never use any way room was a non smoking and actually smelled like a non smoking room has a mini fridge and micro wave loved it
- Denis (8/5): OKdokey - Good stay friendly owner
- Hkloban (6/5): Basic But Clean - I found this hotel to be clean, close to everything and easy to find. The room was very clean and had a microwave oven and fridge. I would stay here again when in the area. the owner was friendly and accessible. the wifi was very fast with no issues.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Pathetic WIFI. - Wife was intermittent at best and always a weak signal. When I called the front desk no one answered. When I went to the front desk in person the door was locked and no one answered. The paint job in the room was laughable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Cheap and cheerful getaway in a great location. - The location is fabulous and the service was great. My Mum's room had everything working. My room had a few issues with TV and heating and the fridge. On the whole it was a great get away in a motel like accommodation. Being across from the Lake with a long trail was lovely.
- 213claudette84 (6/5): Convenient locations, close to the casino. Needs updating. - It;s an ok place to stay, because of the location. The staff is friendly. The room had a microwave, fridge, TV.
There is no restaurant at the Inn, but there are restaurants close by. The painted walls were horrid - no masking tape was used, and it was definitely painted by an inexperienced painter. There was paint on the door knobs, light switch plates etc.
Wifi didn't work.
- Richard (8/5): - the bayview inn Orillia is an older motel I a fantastic location down by the waterfront
the rooms are adequate beds are comfortable could use better lighting in the sink area
nice tv wifi great place be up at the beach
- obhorst (10/5): convenient location on our route - We read the reviews, booked on line, arrived on time and check in was less than 5 minutes. The staff member was courteous, helpful.
The room is neat, clean, the beds are good, plenty of hot water. Seems to have been recently redecorated. For the price this is excellent accommodations and would not hesitate to book again.
There is a large screen TV, micowave and mini frig, and hair dryer. We had a room at the back so there was no traffic noise but it seems to be a fairly quiet location.
- Carolyn (8/5): Satisfied - Very comfortable in my room with a nice TV, fridge and microwave, also, had an end unit and very quiet plus had a nice bed to sleep in
- jennylM4531EK (2/5): Cheap price...cheap room. - This place is not well kept. Very messy paint job. Furniture that was glued to the wall had been pried off. Bed is hard and uncomfortable. Chair seems old and dirty. The heating system is under the window and all the heat blows up under the curtains so it takes a while to warm up. If you open the curtains, you will be faced with the lights from passing vehicles on a main street.
- donnav777 (2/5): Run Forest Run - This place is disgusting. Will never stay here again. The sheets had holes in them and the bathtub was dirty. Also every corner was built up with dirt. If we could have found another place would have taken it. Slept on top of blankets with clothes on. When we called we where told 2 double beds bottom floor got there and it was 1 double bed second floor Although dont imagine any other rooms where any better. ALso holes in curtains and could see daylight around the door, guess that was the air conditioning
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very good accomodation - Amazing stay, staff very helpful and friendly
- June and Sister (8/5): Great location close to a quaint restaurant - We always like to stay at bayview inn- good price and trusted location. Never had a problem and always friendly staff and clean room
- falguni0987 (10/5): great location - nice to stay it's quit room was very clean bed was confortable frige and microwave for weekend beer store and tim horton's close from here staff was very good they helping a lot i go with my family and nothing to scare here desk working 24 houre close from casino rama beer store park playing for kids
- Verified traveler (6/5): Bayview Inn with no view. - Our two night stay at the Bayview Inn was fine. The fellow who checked us in was very friendly and helpful. It is basic accommodation and owners are trying to keep it going. Our room was very clean, but the towels and bath mat had holes in them. It is close to Tudhope Park and a flat rate for a cab to Casino Rama. Unfortunately, a developer managed to build a huge condo complex across the street, so the view of the bay is no longer there.
- NorthStar699772 (4/5): Dont stay here in the winter - Hubby and I stayed over 1 night at this hotel,, no coffee maker in room, basic room, not anything special. Had a shower and finally after 15 minutes water was getting warm,, heater was really noisy,, parking lot was full of ice, real slippery. Host or manager acted like not interested at aLL THAT WE WERE THERE. NEVER AGAIN.
- Stephanie (6/5): - easy access to rooms and it served its purpose.
- Amanda (8/5): Convenient - We have stayed before. Location and price is the main reason. We have family nearby. Room has fridge and microwave. We stayed in a queen bed room this time which had a couch and a bit more room. The couch cushions need replacing as they are caving in but otherwise it's fine.
Front desk people are the owners I believe and they don't always stay there but are generally quick with service and friendly.
We had a ground room this time which made it more accessible to our vehicle that was parked right outside.
Free wifi but it was very slow.
We stayed with our 2 babies 1 night.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - IT WAS COZY. WE ARE GOING BACK IN JANUARY
- Anne (10/5): - A nearby restaurant and clean room was meeting with our expectation. The price was also right.
- Roy Thomas (6/5): - no ice machine
- Helen (8/5): - We had a good stay for the concert that we attended at Casino Rama.
- RichardD506 (4/5): Ineffective reno done on the cheap - Not a very good place. Too bad, because it is well situated and with better effort this would be a good place. First off, let's face it: this place has the barely acceptable basics for today's traveller. It looks more like a place that one would rent by the hour. Not even a coffee maker in the room is an irritant. Minimum comfort. The room we had was renovated, if amateurly applying a layer of cheap paint can be qualified as such. Door had no real protective system. The staff tried to call my house because I did not arrive before 1800hrs (after I advised that I would not be in before 2000hrs... Did not even bother to try the cellphone before applying a punitive charge as if I would not show up. Honestly, I would pass, even if offered a rebate.
- 480joelh (2/5): Don't bother. - The sink drained into a garbage pail. Need I say more. The room air conditioner was extremely noisy. The front desk person was new to the area and could not offer any recommendations as to where to have a good meal for supper or breakfast the following morning.
- hasan (6/5): quiet area - This hotel was expensive for the price, also the water in the next morning was cold so I had to take shower with cold water and I got sick, and their office is always closed so we had to ring the bell every time we need something.
- Kimberley (4/5): - Quick, courteous checkin. Room smelled musty. State of the room was a little rough (door looked like it had been punched). Not enough towels and there was no hot water to shower in the morning. Convienient to the Casino.
- Ken (6/5): Convenient and reasonable-the picture looks nice. - The stay was ok for the price, we didn't need to pre-book during the week.
- Rob (8/5): Great value. - Friendly service. Clean and spacious room with fridge and microwave. Free cable and Wi-Fi.
- JaneTravels440 (4/5): Our room was acceptable but just - The room had just been painted by a very sloppy painter and a faint smell of paint lingered in the air. The bedspread was circa 1964. But the room was clean, there was a bar fridge, the bathroom was fine, the woman who checked us in seemed nice and the price was right.
- janetravels (4/5): Where did they get that promo pic? - The hotel is located just off the highway and has hardly any land. Most of it is driveway. The person who checked us in, in the most cramped lobby in the world, was nice and helpful. The room had just been painted by someone who used a technique one step up from finger painting and the smell of paint lingered. The bedspread was circa 1964. But the room was clean, had a bar fridge and the bathroom was fine.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nothing fancy but a clean space to stay. - Dated and worn, but clean and a bed to sleep in if you are looking for a place to stay at a reasonable price, halfway between downtown and casino.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice motel closed to the Casino Rama. - Will go back anytime, very convenient, close to shopping. Thank you
- N3455TQkarenm (6/5): Great place to be near swimming and concert in the park! - Room was very clean, bed was comfortable. Was nice to have a small fridge for weekend stay. Conveniently located to convenience store, beer store and Tim Horton's for those who need to have a coffee first thing in the morning!
- Nick (4/5): - Our stay was satisfactory. The price was great. The service was great. The conveniences could have been more. No coffee maker or cups. No hair dryer although they gave me one on request. We would stay there again. We do not spend much time in our room, only to sleep.the beds were comfortable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Has been upgraded since my last stay there and is much improved.
- Jason (6/5): Family and pet friendly - This is a pet friendly hotel that went out if it's way to make our stay as pleasant as possible. We are often in Orillia for fertility treatments and this hotel allows us to relax and not have to rush back home because we can bring our kids and our dogs.
- julie (8/5): Close to everything - Hotel was nice. Had better but definitely had worse! If you want a cheap place to stay close to the casino and town, this is it!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Stayed last minute to avoid the bus trip or drive home after show at Rama. Well worth it.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - first of all there was no heat, but there was a portable heater provided. The pillows were terrible and the beds were not comfortable. The shower barely trickled out any water. The room was clean. thought maybe a discount should have been offered for lack of heat. There was a microwave and fridge that were not plugged in and difficult to find a plug, so of course there were just part of the décor. No, I would not stay there again even though it was an editors pick, obviously that person never stayed there.
- Dan (8/5): My favorite place to stay in Orillia - Rooms have been updated since my last stay. Stayed in same room as last time (my personal favorite), flooring had been replaced, painting has been refreshed, new headboard and accessories. This will never be a five star luxury accommodation and doesn't pretend to be. It's reasonable in cost, relatively clean, and family owned by very friendly, accommodating people. It's also very convenient in a location that's a short drive to the Casino with enough fast food places and conveniences (such as gas bars) nearby.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Disappointed. One of the face towel were soiled with yellow stain. when we told the owner, there was not even an apology. He just took the towel and said he will throw it away.
- Steve (8/5): Nice Stay - Very courtious
- Verified traveler (6/5): Comfortable enough for the price - It was fine for the price, can't complain.
Easy check in. Didn't use Casino Shuttle, but may take advantage next time.
- david (6/5): A satisfactory motel room at low rate. - Paid a low rate in the off-season. For the price I was entirely satisfied with this small motel room. My room had been updated with newer carpet and bath fixtures and an amateur paint job. Bed was bare bones but comfortable enought to sleep on (maybe BYO pillow). Walls are thin but no worse than some big-chain budget hotels. Shower hot first morning, second day less hot but bearable. WiFi worked well. Other than some dust in some overlooked corners, it was clean. What more could you ask for, for the price?
- Verified traveler (8/5): - it was good
we stayed less than than 9 hrs - what else can we say
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Good value. A basic room to stay the night. Shower was clean. Towel bar missing (broke off I guess) in bathroom. Sink stopper stuck shut just before leaving, other than those it was good. Nice flat screen TV and view from balcony was nice. Could see Lake Couchiching across the street. Good location, close to Casino Rama. Also Close by was Tim Hortons, Wild wings, Subway, Duckworths Fish & Chips. Would stay again.
- Diane (8/5): Pleasant stay - Family run inn. Owners were very nice people. I will definitely stay there again. The price was right and I was pleasantly surprised that the rooms were as nice as they were.
- Jackie (8/5): - It was a quick stop, go to bed, get up, shower and go... The gentleman at the front desk was very accommodating when I asked for ground floor and non smoking... The bed was good and the room was very clean. We didn't spend much time there as we were just stopping for a few hours of sleep but we would definitely stay there again!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good enough for the price! - For the price, this Inn was reasonable and comfortable enough for one night. The heater was a little bit loud, but otherwise, I would definitely come back if I was to visit the town of Orillia or Casino Rama.
- Verified traveler (2/5): stay away - it stunk , sheets were dirty ,looked like blood.I did not stay ,lost my money by paying through expedia which will not happen again. it is a hole it is a dive . i was born on a farm would not let pigs stay there .
- Peter (8/5): Peter - We had a good stay.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Hit and miss - I have low expectations and am pretty chill about cheaper price places I stay, clean sheets, no bugs= happy, but I was a little taken back by this place when I saw the doors in the check in area looked like they hadn't been cleaned in possibly years. Even the dives I have slept in usually try to make the first impression better than that. This Inn could be really good with a little attention.
Pros: Clean sheets, comfortable bed, newer shower insert with a great tub, clean toilet, quiet location
Cons: Inconsistent cleaning. One mirror clean other filthy, toothpaste and food stuck to side of microwave, old garbage under the harder to reach side of bed, smeared windows inside and out, sticky spots on dressers.
- Verified traveler (6/5): nice accomodation - Good stay and accommodation.
- Dixie (6/5): Staff inadequacy - Staff could not find our booking even after giving him our reservation no. He does not know which room to put us in and was looking for his manager's contact. After almost 10 minutes of looking, we have to assist him by showing the open boxes (with keys in it and a note, which is just beside the check-in counter).
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not exactly what we wanted. - Rather disappointed with every aspect of our stay...
I don't think we would stay here again - nor would we recommend it...
unless you are on a very tight budget.
There was nothing too offensive... but nothing pleasing either.
- gisela (2/5): worst experiece - Awful!!
- Stephanie (8/5): mom's little getaway - I was nice for what I needed.
- PAUL (6/5): Great Rama location. - For the price and proximity to casino and Restaurants. Excellent.
- Mark (8/5): Good place to crash. - Was fine. Needed a place to crash after ZZ Top at Casino Rama. Friendly, helpful staff.
- Verified traveler (2/5): It's a room in a storm I guess - Our stay wasn't about where we slept or the room. So it was ok.
We were tired and didn't care. The room was clean enough and there were no bedbugs.
- John (2/5): Not worth the money - Room was clean. Could use a painting.
Mold on bathroom ceiling.Electrical outlet didn't work in vanity area.A hair dryer that was busted. The television froze up all time.
Definitely not worth the night charge.
The manager was friendly and helpful on giving attraction advice.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not so good - We felt uncomfortable in the room. It was small, the couch was old as was the décor. You get what you pay for and we will spend a little extra and go somewhere else the next time.
- Evelyn (6/5): Inn close to Casino - The room was clean and had all the basic amenities we needed for an overnight stay.
- Cathy (2/5): Wouldn't Stay Here Again - Came with Wifi, but had to ask them to turn it on, then had to go back for the password. No coffee maker with complimentary coffee. Staff wasn't friendly. While the room was clean, could smell the "cleaners', it is in need of paint job. Would never stay here again, overpriced for the service.
- rama patron (2/5): Do not stay here. - Thought I had low standards for a one night stay - just need a clean bed to sleep in. But After seeing this place just gets wiped down in the bathroom and bed sheets changed - I decided I would like to also not see an inch of dust on the lamps, walls and headboard - and to not see fingerprints on the microwave. Gross.
- A fellow travel (8/5): Nice place with a 2 minute walk to the beaches. - Orillia is a clean and pleasant place to visit. There are many places of interest, and pubs if you like a little night life. I didn't visit the Casino but the brochure looked like it would have been worth the trip.
- David (6/5): Easy access to hwy but nothing else - Inn is halfway between Casino Rama and downtown Orillia. Very old looking place. Two stories in two buildings. Very friendly and helpful desk staff.
- Brenda (8/5): Clean & close to lake for swimming, baseball etc - Room very clean, quiet except that room window air conditioner noise disturbs sleep somewhat. Cannot open any windows, they say city won't allow it due to bylaws. Access to room is outside like a motel. Room on second floor had very new bathroom shower/tub surround etc., very clean. Lots of nearby activities & while they have no restaurant on site (no breakfast included), there is a good restaurant just a block away. Operators are very friendly & helpful.
- Verified traveler (4/5): A two story motel, not a hotel. - Fortunately, we only had to stay there one night. I really cannot and do not want to say more than this.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - What was expected for price
- calling the health board (2/5): DIRTY DIRTY DIRTY - never stay here again, they'd have to pay me.....
- Verified traveler (6/5): hotel in good shape with very good price. - I like it close to all the point of tourist in town. shopping is ok too.
- Babak (2/5): Disappointed! It was a dirty room - The picture on the website was misleading. The building is NOT on the lake.
The room was very dirty. We saw dust balls on the couch!
The room was humid and stinky.
Having spent over $100, we expected to be able to spend one night, but we couldn't.
After the concerts, we decided to drive back to Aurora, rather than spending the night there, even at the cost of losing our money.
- Neil (2/5): Wouldn't even let my wife enter the building - Hotel was dirty curtains falling diwn windows filthy stairs all rusty and that was pulling into the lot- did not let my wife in building it was so filthy we did bit stay and we could not get our money back - went to the comfort inn only $20. More would never recommend this to anyone.
- guinch (8/5): Very Nice Room - It was the second time we stayed in this Inn for events at casino rama,we have stayed in lots of hotels and this one is way up there in quality for what you pay, micovave, mini fridge, and nicely remodeled room, the bed and pillows were the only down fall of this room,
- Ron (2/5): Awful - Very dated and dinghy. Old beds, old sheets, old mattresses, pillows etc....
The place needs a serious renovation and upgraded beds, it just felt like you were sleeping in an old camp with old re-used or recycled furniture and beds. The walls were paper thin, you could hear everything that was going on in the rooms next door.
- Jim (6/5): Overnight stay - We needed a cheap place to stay over after a Casino Rama show. Bayview Inn met our basic goals
