Guest Reviews
- Shweta (1/5): Absolute nightmare - Absolutely nothing Wrong advertisment! This is not glamp ikal! The facilities are close to nothing. The shared bathrooms are nasty and unclean. We decided to not stay and left immediately after the tour. The manager said they'd be happy to let us cancel for no fee but we got 0 refund and got ghosted after we left.
- Jack (9/5): Review. - Right on the beach overlooking sea, great for sunset.
The room has Aircon so it is not too hot at night.
Access to outside beds which are great for star gazing.
Can walk to Tulum ruins in 10 minutes along the beach.
Restaurant food was nice.
Pool was clean and overlooks the sea Recommend using colectivos to/ from Tulum ruins and walking to hotel through jaguar park as taxis are expensive.
Reception is very hard to locate and not always manned, had to message the receptionist and abandon keys when checking out.
Make sure you return every evening with liquids / nibbles as no where to get food other than sea restaurant which is expensive.
You are charged 125 peso per person per DAY to enter the jaguar park, this is not included in the hotel charge. If you arrive before 8 am or after 5pm you do not have to pay and can just walk in. Leaving is fine, it is only entry where you have to pay.
No plastic is allowed in the jaguar park, however bag searches are not conducted, they will confiscate it if they see it.
- Alejandra (9/5): -
- Jamie (8/5): Great spot on the beach, not for budget travel. - On the beach, nice bed and close to Tulum ruins. The huts have air conditioning and are ideal for a few days relaxing by the sea. I recommend getting a hire car as taxis can be expensive and walking does limit your options. I was given a quick tour when I arrived and check in was very easy. The daily fee for entering the beach area isn’t too much but it can be avoided if you enter after 5pm. I would hang out at the beach in the morning then go out for the afternoon to explore. It was hard to contact staff if they were not at the desk or in their hut. A beer at the local restaurants/bars is over 100 pesos (double the price of most other places away from the beach). I don’t recommend staying here if you are on a tight budget.

- LUIS (9/5): Just a lovey relaxing time. - Love the quietness. Beautiful surroundings. The organic feel.
- Marie-Anne (9/5): Magnifique !!!
Do domków wchodzą liczne robaki.
- Rammarx (10/5): -
Heerlijk.
Toiletten en douches schoon!
Receptionist Natalia erg behulpzaam.
- Dominika (10/5): -
- Christopher Matthew (8/5): Lovely glamp units in tucked away in the coastal forest - Very comfortable units within tranquil forested surroundings, just a few meters away from the beach! The shared bathrooms were clean and the place was well maintained.
- Anne (10/5): I will be back. - This will be an annual vacation for me. Amazing location, great staff (thank you Natalya and Marisol), incredible customer service. And did I mention the on the beach location? The restaurant right next door, although expensive by Mexican standards, served great food and the waitstaff were very nice people. Absolutely nothing. I loved it all.
- Jishan (7/5): facilities need improving。 -
- Monika (8/5): -
- Monika (8/5): -
- Denise (10/5): Perfect Getaway - Excellent location. Perfect getaway. Bohemian vibes. Mindfulness meditation and other activities available. Good clean facilities and beach bar next door at Ikal hotel My actual tent wasn't cleaned all week. So the bedding and towels provided were filthy by the fourth day and the floor was covered in sand by the end of my stay despite washing my feet outside in a tub of water.
- Milica (8/5): Good - What I really liked, though, is how beautiful the place is. The location is amazing, right on the beach, which makes the whole atmosphere very special and relaxing. What I didn’t like about Glamp Ikal was that our oceanfront cabin was quite noisy because of the strong wind. To be fair, this is partly personal preference, as being so close to the ocean naturally comes with that kind of sound.
Also, the restaurant where we had coffee and food felt very overpriced for what was offered. The quality was fine, but the prices were much higher than expected.
- Veronika (10/5): Amazing - Absolutely amazing place, right on the beach — where the waves keep time with the music, sand cools your feet, and every sunset feels like it was staged just for you. Tulum magic hits different when the ocean’s that close 🌊✨ No cleaning
- Katarina (10/5): - Miesto ako v raji, pokoj svaty, krasa
- georgia (10/5): Amazing experience. Beautiful location - Beautiful location Bit cold at night, but they brought us extra blankets
- Michal (8/5): -
- Leyla (8/5): - The location was absolutely beautiful - both the sandy campsite being through the jungle and the view and closeness to the beach of our cabin. The cabin was also spacious and bed really comfortable. It was also close to a beach bar and walkable to the Mayan ruins. Not a fault of the campsite but the area was very expensive to eat at (in the park it's a small number of beach restaurants with high prices and no food shops - and we were told we couldn't really bring food in). Also not the easiest to get to and from town either. We had a great time though and this is just something to be aware of for any hotel in this area.
- Duran (10/5): Smell of epoxy from next door was overwhelming and we could not enjoy our room. -
- Sara (6/5): It was ok, used to be better - Location The don't abide by the current exchange rate to charge you from USD to Mexican peso. They also don't have the exchange rate announced anywhere and just charge you're card for the room at an arbitrary rate they choose. I've come here many times and it seems like they are letting this place deteriorate.
- Max (7/5): Good spot for a couple of nights - Nice beach, helpful staff A long way from facilities, like grocery stores, unlimited options in terms of restaurants, nearby, all of which were expensive
- Jana (5/5): There is a lot to improve - The location is great, the tent is spacious and the staff was nice. The camp is in a natural park. At the entrance to the natural park you have to pay an extra tax. It’s not a lot of money, but it’s always valid only for one day and the host doesn’t mention it anywhere. Be aware! Our room was ready 1,5 hours later than it was supposed to be. In the showers is only cold water. If you get a tent next to the facilities, you can smell the waste water. They provide only a thin blanket and since it’s a tent, we were cold at night.
The surrounding restaurants are ridiculously expensive. Almost double compared to the normal local restaurants.
- Mauricio (8/5): Loved my stay at GlambIkal overall, true experience of sleeping in the beach. Will come back again - Amazing, right by the beach. Great Cabaña. Friendly staff. Wholesome stay. My hut faced the adjacent property which seemed abandoned but with a full time presence of Guardia nacional, no reason for them to be there. Felt a little bit strange…
- Tilemachos Alexios (1/5): Total scam. The worst accommodation I've ever stayed in. - I booked Glampikal Tulum for New Year’s Eve and my birthday on January 3, expecting a nice beachfront glamping experience. What I found instead was one of the worst accommodations I have ever encountered in my life.
The listings are completely misleading. The tents are damaged, poorly maintained, full of holes and gaps, with no insulation whatsoever. Because of these openings, all kinds of insects and potentially dangerous bugs can freely enter the tent, making it feel unsafe to sleep there. At night the temperature drops dramatically, and since the air conditioning only blows cold air and there is no heating, I spent one of the coldest and most miserable nights of my life. This is not glamping. This is survival.
Hygiene is beyond unacceptable. There is mold everywhere, on the tent fabric and in the bathrooms. I am allergic to mold and immediately started sneezing and coughing. The toilets were filthy, there was no toilet paper, no proper cleaning, and dirty towels were left on the floor for hours. Even the ashtray on my private terrace was dirty when I arrived. Most of the toilets were locked by maintenance staff, leaving only one toilet available for all guests.
The shower water was cold. The internet barely worked, which made it impossible to even manage bookings or contact support properly. Basic services you expect anywhere simply do not exist here.
To make matters worse, I was informed by staff that this place is no longer affiliated with the Ikal brand, yet it continues to use the Ikal name. This is extremely misleading and feels like deliberate deception.
After my first night, I contacted Booking.com on January 1 and was promised a response within 24 hours. I never heard back. I checked out the same morning because staying was impossible. This experience completely ruined my New Year’s and my birthday vacation. I cancelled my remaining reservations and am still fighting to get my money back.
Avoid this place at all costs.

Avoid this place at all costs. Do not be fooled by the photos or the name. This is not a luxury retreat. It is unsafe, unsanitary, misleading, and deeply distressing. Save yourself the time, money, and trauma

- jane (8/5): Peaceful and beautiful if you love being by the sea - Beautiful location right on the beach . Our room wasn’t cleaned because the guy from reception appeared to be the only person working there . He was amazing . Very helpful Showers were cold but maybe that was because of the location
- Yuan Yang (3/5): - location We can't find anyone to check in
- Sonya (3/5): Total rip-off, not recommend it - Location is very nice and in general it is a very beautiful seafront place. - A total rip-off!! Booked this place from a few months ago for 280 USD. The day we were checking-in, I checked the price and was 70 USD. I asked hotel to do price adjustment but they did not, so unfair!!
- Not a good value for money, it is a basic tent with no facilities. They call it “luxury tent” but there is not even a plate inside!
- Beds are super uncomfy, we could not sleep at all
- No hot water in the shower, you have to shower with freezing cold water
- Wifi does not work in any area, everytime you have to go to the reception to get a very slow internet
- Chalitatravels (10/5): - Outstanding place, location is amazing with the beach right there at your footsteps. Luis was an outstanding host, he helped me as I had to work one day of our visit and allow me to share his space to work in the amazing open reception that had. There are restaurants near by. Facilities are great is an amazing experience, the feeling of the camp is very calm and relaxing if you're looking for a place to unwind this is the place. We're planning to return to this paradise. Gracias Luis for todas tus tenciones. Claudia Washrooms are shared and they are in an open space, they were clean and accessible-remember they are shared so you have to accommodate to that. Glam Ikal provides with all the toiletries at the bathrooms with a soap and shampoo that smells delicious.
- Sasil (10/5): Amazing, will definitely return :) - Next to the beach, and great staff! The water in the showers is always cold! :(
Kaltes Wasser.
- Wendy (9/5): A great beach stay. - The tent was very spacious and clean. It had a simple bed, chair and hanging space. The air con and fan worked well in combination to keep the tent cool. The shared bathroom (4 toilets and 4 showers) were clean. The staff were very friendly, they always said hola as you walked by them with a big smile. They were also very helpful. We really enjoyed our stay. We had tent 13 which was set back in the shade from the beach but still within metres of the beach access. It was nice to have the shad to sit on the verandah and relax when not at the beach. Just an FTI - The restaurants (all along the beach at the beach clubs and hotels) are very expensive. We were on a budget and really struggled with meals.
There could be more signage as to where to go when entering the property and trying to find reception.
A mirror in the tent would be helpful as well.
El personal es muy atento, - The location is perfect Limited access at certain hours due to the restrictions of the national park.
- Valentin (10/5): Alucinante! ¡Gracias, Luis!

- Stanislav (8/5): - Right on the beach. Ruins in walkable distance, no need to exit the park to get there. Very nice to sleep listening to the waves. Little privacy in the rooms. Tent leaked during rain right onto my book and as it was a soft cover it was ruined.
Note that white tents are extremely moldy, as other reviews also point out. "Huts" (they call them Mayan rooms) are ok.
Overall the maintenance is quite poor. One chair broke immediately when sat upon. One light bulb not working and not fixed the next day despite being promised a fix by the staff. Beach towels not provided before you ask for them. Poor command of English by the staff.
If you absolutely want to be in a tent/hut on the beach and close to the Tulum ruins, you likely don't have much of a choice but this place. That was my case and I was kind of prepared for this experience by reading the reviews in advance, so I wasn't disappointed too much.
