- Nikita (1/5): HOST SCAMS FOR BROKEN APPLIANCES! - Location My families experience was very disappointing. This is my first negative revieuw on Booking in 3 years of travels.
Starting from the moment that you arrive. The host said where we had to look for the key, we arrived in the night. Had to pickup the key at an ice cream shop. No further instructions were given. I didnt get the entrance nor the floor nor the apt number. So there I am with my wife and our 5 years old daughter trying to get a hold of the host in the night. We searched and called untill she finally picked up.
Then from day one, the dishwasher was rusted through and leaking (host said that before we arrived) the TV backlight was broken, and the toilet didn’t flush properly — I had to repair the toilet myself, by that time I was already sure that the host wouldnt send anyone to repair it anyway.
Worse, after I reported this and asked for a repairman the host attempted to blame me for these long-term maintenance issues behind my back! She stopped replying entirely. My requests for weekly cleaning were completely ignored and I received a message from booking that stated a claim of €300 for the broken appliances.
I had to send photo and video evidence to Booking, and spent over 2 hours on the phone with their support team to explain that these were maintenance problems, not damage. Booking ultimately acknowledged that I was right — but the host never sent anyone to fix a single thing during the entire stay.
To make things worse, two of the three bedrooms are not usable during the summer months. There is no air conditioning and no access to fresh air, making them unbearably hot and stuffy.
⚠️ Advice to future guests: If you find something broken, do NOT report it to the host first — she may try to scam you. Instead, contact Booking support immediately, document everything, and protect yourself. This host clearly does not maintain the apartment and tries to shift the blame onto guests.
