Guest Reviews
- Julie (10/5): Rutherglen with Class - The hotel has been renovated to a very high standard. The history and charm of the building has remained. The decor is stunning, styled with beautiful furniture and ornaments reflecting the history of the building. Hunter products were in the bathroom. We stayed for 3 nights and ate in the restaurant downstairs two of the nights. The food was fabulous, the staff were very attentive and the whole venue was stunning. It is a jewel in the centre of Rutherglen.
- Melissa (10/5): Fabulous - Clean and very cosy and comfortable Loved everything
- Michele (9/5): The upmarket hotel was beautiful. The location was great & the restaurant at the hotel was lovely. - contactless checkin was great, the room was beautiful & comfortable. Nothing
- jade (9/5): Victoria two nights exceptional rooms and facilities perfect location description accurate - Beautiful property, perfect location
- Sherrelle (9/5): - The location in central Rutherglen was good; the room was rather small but tastefully decorated.
The library area was a very nice social space. No breakfast was offered, even a deal with vouchers to local cafes would have been nice for the $300 + price tag per night.
There was no check in staff. The self-check in was very socially isolating and made it very sterile.
The bathroom was very large with a sizeable shower area with a severe issue of water going everywhere from the inability of the drainage and fall unable to keep up with a moderate shower flow.
- Jana (10/5): Loved our stay at The Victoria Hotel and can highly recommend!!! - Close to everything, super clean, modern room
Restaurant on site was superb
Staff were friendly and helpful
- Deborah (10/5): -
- John (10/5): - Newly invested in. Modern and bright
- Grace (9/5): -
- Brent (10/5): -
- Bryn (8/5): Well appointed room, but definitely on the expensive side. - Convenient location, room was clean and tidy and restaurant and bar were impeccable. A tad pricey
- Steven (10/5): - Everything was fabulous
- Christopher (10/5): Excellent accomodation in the heart of Rutherglen. Will definitely stay again. - Renovated to an exceptional standard while keeping its heritage features. Staff were warm and welcoming.
- Tracey (10/5): -
- Georgia (10/5): -
- Alan (10/5): Brilliant, great accommodation, prime location, friendly proprietor and staff, excellent dining - Breakfast not available, but plenty of cafes nearby Nothing not to like
- Thornton (10/5): Great weekend in Rutherglen enjoying its hospitality options - No breakfast provided but the hotel renovation is spectacular. We ate in the restaurant and the food was good and good value. Lovely venue and we got to meet the owner who is obviously very proud about what he has been able to achieve and for good reason There was nothing I didn't like but I thought $650 for two nights was a bit on the high side especially when no breakfast was provided. It might be I should have booked directly with the hotel instead of the online agency I used.
- Amanda (10/5): Enjoyed the modern renovation of a beautiful historic building - Rooms beautifully decorated, large bathrooms, coffee pod machine, great location and amazing food at the restaurant
- Karen (9/5): - We had a great weekend in Rutherglen. The hotel is excellent great food amazing accommodation- would highly recommend.
- Stephanie (9/5): -
- Edward (10/5): - Excellent property well managed great staff and location Nothing
- Jeannine (6/5): The large balcony was lovely and the restaurant and bar were excellent but I would not stay again. The rooms were not co - Location The rooms were too hot without adequate cooling. The noise from the bar was loud
- Helen (10/5): Super comfortable night stay half way between Sydney and Melbourne - The recently renovated king suites are fabulous - very clean and comfortable. There was a very rowdy group at dinner for a Bucks party.
- Alan (9/5): Now my favorite place to stay in Rutherglen - Renovations are great. Clean comfortable and centrally located. Nothing
- Kathleen (10/5): Cosy beautiful and very relaxing - I loved how the building has kept its heritage but also been updated, was cosy clean and so beautiful. Loved it all
- Angela (9/5): Beautifully restored property in a lovely town - The hotel has been tastefully renovated and looks beautiful. Our room was very comfortable and the bathroom was spacious. We enjoyed a pre-dinner drink on the upstairs balcony overlooking the main street below and had a delicious dinner in the restaurant downstairs. Next time we will book a bigger room for a bit more space. The lighting in the bathoom isn't bright enough when using the mirror.
- Michael (9/5): Well equipped and very comfortable room. -
- Leonie (9/5): Lovely luxurious room and excellent restaurant - The property has been recently refurbished to a very high luxurious standard. Great parking facilities with ev charger. The restaurant was excellent with very friendly staff. Large room could have included a comfortable chair to relax in. Also a luggage rack would be useful.
- William (10/5): - Awesome location, awesome Rooms and fantastic in house bistro/restaurant. Just a stones throw from all the major wineries and eateries.
- Rory (10/5): Great place, great atmosphere, great location. Ticked every box and first choice on any revisit to Rutherglen - Beautifully renovated but holding onto all the historical aspects, really well done
- Robyn (10/5): Brilliant! - This is a magnificent hotel, with fantastic friendly and professional staff. The food is outstanding, so good we ate there for all four nights we stayed. This is our second visit and we can't wait to return. Absolutely nothing.
- Lynne (9/5): Comfortable luxurious stay right in the middle of town, but quiet, even on a Saturday night. - right in middle of town. Very quiet and comfortable. Beds very comfortable. A/C very quiet and efficient. I liked the extra thoughtful touches such as make up mirror. If you have mobility problems the stairs, but you could request a downstairs room. Also the keyless entry is challenging if you have vision problems
- Tony (10/5): -
- Meg (10/5): -
- Stephen (9/5): Great place to stay. - Rooms were recently renovated, clean & large. Proximity to city centre escellent.
- Beverly (10/5): Will return as soon as possible - Beautifully maintained and designed property. Nothing
- Gordon (10/5): Staff were excellent, restaurant superb, accommodation immaculate -what more could you ask for? -
- Pam (9/5): Great - Clean and cool very well presented Room service for the tired traveler would be good
- Jayson (10/5): Beautiful place in a lovely town - Just the most amazing place with attention to high quality in every detail.
- Michelle (8/5): -
- pina (9/5): Right next door to parkers pies and other little eateries was great - Rooms were lovely xx Unfortunately the venue was closed for the day ,but it looked lovely
- Sven (7/5): Nice and modern hotel, can be a bit noisy if there are celebrations going on. - Very central and new. The automated check in process is awesome. Staff is very friendly. The soundproofing of the place isn’t the best. We had a bit of a rough night since we could hear every step of upstairs hotel guests who were celebrating a wedding and understandably enjoyed their night a little longer. That was a bit unfortunate for us since we had a long drive ahead of us the next day. Also, it was quite dusty under the bed.
- Jim and Kathryn (10/5): great place to stay and eat 9.9/10 - location great nothing
- Breck (9/5): Great property and facilities. - Location, Ambience, staff friendliness and quality of the facility. No room fans, a little stuffy.
- ROBERT (10/5): -
- Luke (9/5): -
- phillip (9/5): Very comfortable. Would definitely stay there again. - Loved it. So comfortable.
- Damien (9/5): Excellent. - Hassle free check in. Quiet. Spacious room.
- Neale (8/5): The location and facilities are excellent - The property has been renovated to a very high standard. The rooms are very comfortable with a great ensuite. The keyless entry was a breeze and the location was first rate. The rooms at the front of the building do not have casting for streaming services. Apparently this is being fixed over the next few months. Being above a pub expect noise until 11pm. They do provide earplugs which is thoughtful.
- L (10/5): - Outstanding food, service and hotel rooms were so generous in size and comfortable. Lots of little extras- eye mask, coffee machine...
- Nicholas (9/5): We enjoyed staying here but rooms are small which is expected due to it being an old pub - Beautiful renovation
Good food Tiny room, massive bathroom
- Jackson (10/5): -
- Jayson (10/5): Hi quality accommodation at a good price in a gem of a little town. - This is the most amazing place to stay. Nothing is spared to make our stay as comfortable as possible. If you traveling to Melbourne, break your trip in two as take the time to stay here
- Sean (8/5): - Lovely room. Minimal, but still nice.
- Linda (10/5): Perfect overnight stop on our way back from Christmas with relatives. - The renovation is now fully complete. Suite 6 (we have stayed in it twice) is gorgeous. The interior decoration is good and the shower is amazing. The location on the main street is perfect. Having to carry bags up the stairs but its good exercise! :) We wanted to dine in, and they were booked out. It would have been nice to let guests know to book if they were going to be busy. We had nonetheless a lovely meal at the bar.
- Robert (10/5): - Clean and bright
- claire (1/5): -
- David (7/5): Lovely hotel, great restaurant, pity about the bugs - Lovely hotel in a great location. Restaurant and bar were fabulous. Unfortunately the WiFi system was being upgraded during our stay so we were unable to make full use of streaming apps via the wall TV. It was also quite hot and many flies and other bugs got into our room, presumably via the gap at the bottom of our doorway, which were a nuisance but nothing harmful.
- powyer (10/5): -
- Amanda (9/5): Amazing we loved it. - It was beautiful the attention to detail and luxury was exceptional.
It was like walking into a 5 star hotel.
We loved it all. Nothing
- Wayne (10/5): Wonderful accommodation and exceptional dining - A beautiful and thoughtful renovated property. NA
- BRONLYN (9/5): - N/a We would have liked a lounge /easy chair in the room. The operation of the sink taps in the bathroom was very difficult. Instructions for the coded key entry to the room needs to include the step of pressing the central 'tick' before entering the code etc.
- Rebecca (10/5): IMO the best accommodation in Rutherglen - Fabulous historic pub that’s been renovated to the highest degree. The rooms are excellent in size, especially the bathroom. The decor is in keeping with a deco look, lots of black, but ever so chic and stylish.
It’s our second stay here and we just love it.
- William (10/5): Very comfortable and a real gem for Rutherglen. - It was very comfortable, very clean and well presented.
It is in an excellent location. There’s nothing I didn’t like.
- Karen (8/5): A relaxing weekend in the Rutherglen - Great location, easy check in, safe parking
- Robyn (10/5): Perfect - We booked the larger room which wowed. Dinner was superb, staff excellent. Our one night was just too short
- Jane (9/5): -
- Bradley (10/5): -
- Jo-Anne (10/5): Fabulous Pub - Recently refurbished and generous rooms and bathroom. Great location Loved everything
- Justin (10/5): Amazing location, great food and wine, can’t wait for next time. - New, clean and great location. The door to the ensuite was very heavy to open and close. The allocated parking spot was not clear in the messages.
- Sarah (10/5): A perfect reset and quick getaway for my husband & I - Beautifully presented
- Karen (10/5): Absolutely beautiful- highly recommend - Size of the room, convenience of bar and restaurant downstairs. Located on Main Street of town- walking distance to everywhere ! N/ A
- John (9/5): -
- Geoff (7/5): Enjoyable - Accom was new and well presented Restaurant was OK but over rated
- Melanie (10/5): -
- Steve (10/5): Beautifully Renovated Hotel and Rooms - Beautifully renovated hotel, large rooms, well appointed bathrooms, modern facilities. Plenty of eating and coffee options in main street or great pub food. Central location to local wineries.
- Alison (8/5): Great room, great location, will stay again. - Location and the room was comfortable. There was no wifi and we could get onto any streaming services. I checked the compendium and there was no mention of wifi.
It would be good to have two chairs rather than one. Especially when there two people in the room. I hate sitting on the bed. A coffee table or small movable table would be good to put drinks on while watching free to air.
I was disappointed that we went to have a drink at the bar at 9.10pm, only to find it closed. It is advertised as closing at 10 pm.
- Janine (9/5): Relaxing and cool ! - Amazing renovation - very clean and great location Nothing
- Adrian (8/5): -
- B (8/5): Overall a lovely place that has obviously been tastefully renovated. - Beautiful presentation, cleanliness, friendly staff. Bed was a little too soft and low for my partner who is tall.
The TV was not on a swing arm so viewing comfort was impacted.
A microwave would have been greatly appreciated!
No napkins!
Please provide a small table and chairs in the event guests want to sit and drink or eat.
- Monica (10/5): -
- Jilly (10/5): Perfect base to enjoy Rutherglen - Spacious and stylish room. Great to have a sitting area that was separate to the bedroom. The bathroom was gloriously large, which is a rare thing. Finally, I took up the recommendation to attend a Pilates class next door to the hotel - lots of fun and I was made to feel very welcome.
- Matthew (8/5): -
- Jane (10/5): A must stay or visit in Rutherglen - A true gem of Rutherglen and a beautifully restored Hotel . The rooms were luxurious and had lots of little added extras like eye masks and ear plugs . The food at the restaurant was excellent and the staff were attentive and friendly. Nothing
- Leo (9/5): -
- Gayna (9/5): -
- Lisa (9/5): Great, we will return - The Victoria Hotel is a beautiful place, renovation is stunning and very well done. The rooms were beautiful with an enormous bathroom. Fantastic bar and restaurant, very friendly staff. A superb dinner. We will definitely be back. The only negative which is very hard to do anything about is there are quite a few stairs inside and outside the property as it is an old building. Just a little bit difficult with suitcases etc. We should have packed lighter.
- Martha (10/5): -
- Andrea (10/5): Beautiful accomodation in a fabulous pub - It’s a beautiful property in the centre of town. Very modern facilities, lovely staff and everything you could need. The only thing I could fault was the placement of the shower tap. You got wet when turning it on.
- Robyn (8/5): -
- Caitlin (10/5): Absolute perfection - Absolute perfection. Perfect location right in the Main Street, close to restaurants and coffee shops, close to the rail trail. Renovation is well done. Very beautiful old building that has been restored with love. PIN code in stead of a physical key is genius. So easy to access and come and go. Ample free parking.
- Suzanne (10/5): Charming Hotel with a great restaurant attached - Charming Hotel with a great restaurant attached
- Carmen (9/5): We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We would not hesitate to rebook or recommend The Victoria Hotel. - The location, service, restaurant and facilities were excellent. The room and ensuite were immaculate and very comfortable. The couches in the library were gorgeous but not so comfortable.
- John (9/5): Excellent and the food was wonderful too! - Renovations made since last visit are superb No on site parking and no lift or porter so had to carry bags up stairs not good for 80 year olds
- Parrott (10/5): I look forward to eating and relaxing at The Victoria Hotel on my next trip to Rutherglen. - Clean and modern. Comfortable with additional features such as the library, verandah, restaurant and welcoming open fire near the bar.
- Melissa (9/5): Stylish renovation and great restaurant! - Stylish renovation of old hotel. Great restaurant. Would book a larger room next time. Hope they add a few more selections to the dinner menu.
- Anthony (9/5): -
- Mark (10/5): Perfect little getaway at the Victoria Hotel, Rutherglen. - Kate met us and explained the lock code to enter the Hotel/Accommodation. The room was very clean with an extremely comfy bed. We went down to the Restuarant for dinner and had breakfast at a cute little coffee shop (Caffeine & Machine) which was literally a 5 min stroll. We came for an overnight visit and self guided ebike wine tour around Rutherglen wineries which didn't let us down. I would highly recommend Rutherglen and the Beautiful Victoria Hotel. ❤️❤️❤️ Nil
- Gillian (9/5): - Centrally located, beautifully presented, large rooms and very comfortable. The restaurant at hotel was one of the best in Rutherglen There were building works happening at the time of our stay, but they didn’t impact on our stay very much.
- Alison (10/5): Recommend the Victorian warm and cosy, great restaurant and bar, special extras and totally refreshed. 10/10 - Everything it’s amazing
