Guest Reviews
- edwina (10/5): Extremely enjoyable and look forward to visiting again. - It is an exceptional apartment. Well designed and comfortable. Exceeding expectations.
Thoroughly recommended to everyone.
Small patio at the front and private car park at the back.
Everything has been well planned for a great stay close to the main street in historical York. Nothing
- Vicki (10/5): -
- ERIC (7/5): Good location and room but nothing more. - Great location and nice room. It was all contact free, no reception and we didnt see any staff. No breakfast facilities ( not even a teaspoon to stir our cuppa! )We received a confusing email the day before our visit with the wrong date on it and account confusion.
- Bret_C (9/5): -
- Trace (9/5): - Spacious clean rooms with all the amenities you needed. In town. .
- Annette (8/5): -
- Thomas (8/5): -
- Timothy (6/5): Enjoyed being able to walk into town. - Location was excellent.
Parking was good.
The room was clean. There were no keys available to open the patio doors where there was a table and chairs. We had to walk around the building so we could sit outside. By not being able to open the patio doors we didn't get fresh air in the room. We were offered $20 compensation but we still haven't received this.
Shower kept on going from cold to hot and back to cold. Not consistent temperature.
The fridge wasn't functioning as it should. Freezer compartment wasn't cold enough and consequently kept dripping water onto food stuff below.

- NANHAZ (7/5): - The location was good The bed was a bit uncomfortable
- Mark (10/5): - Nola and Richard were amazing hosts. Nothing was a problem and they are lovely people. The room was beautiful and spacious, with a very large ensuite. Perfectly set up for a later start with a leisurely coffee or tea. Located right on the main street, food, drinks and attractions are within 5 minutes casual stroll. 5* would highly recommend
- Elizabeth Djoeke (8/5): -
- Lisa (8/5): - Location was great, rooms were spacious and neat and tidy. Loved the little sitting area. I wasn't advised the hotel was closed and I specifically wanted to stay at a placed with accomodation and food options. Not too far to go but bad if you have mobility issues and are not told
- Hui (5/5): won’t consider it again. - Just so so The room number is very unfriendly.
- Darryl (9/5): The Palace York was the best location to stay I never knew existed. - Did not have breakfast as needed to head off early.
Room was spacious, clean and well presented. Large ensuite
bathroom felt luxurious. Bed was good and extra pillows and blankets were available.
Parking was readily accessible and the value for the room was great.
Location to town was easy walking distance to anywhere. Minor issue of water pressure in the shower was a bit weak.
TV was a bit of a trial to navigate. Nothing to put us off coming back.
- Andres (7/5): Tolle Lage und sehr herzlicher Empfang/Great location and a warm welcoming - Ein wirklich schönes Haus in einer ausgezeichneten Lage. Schon bei der Ankunft fühlte ich mich durch den warmen und freundlichen Empfang sofort willkommen. Die Zimmer sind beeindruckend groß. Insgesamt ein sehr angenehmer Aufenthalt.
This is a wonderful property in an absolutely excellent location. From the moment I arrived, the warm and friendly reception made me feel genuinely welcome. The rooms are impressively spacious. Overall, a truly pleasant stay.

- Hayden (10/5): A wonderful place to stay in York and a warm, kind and generous owner (Nola). Thoroughly recommended - My wife and I had a wonderful stay at The York Palace in December 2025. We had a great room and the hotel enjoys a great location. The owner, Nola, was extremely warm and friendly. She gave us great recommendations for drinks/dinner that evening. She also went out of here way to find us a UK to Australia electric plug adaptor, as we forgot to bring one with us. Not only did she find one but she insisted we keep it, as she knew this was our first night in Australia and she didn't want us to struggle for the rest of our holiday. We offered to pay but she refused. Nola is a great host and offers a great place to stay. We would thoroughly recommend it.
- C (10/5): -
- Frank. (7/5): - Location No toaster Tea / Coffee facility very low
- Brad (10/5): - upgrade to larger room Shower may have restrictor fitted so pressure was very low.
- Ian (9/5): -
- Kevin (10/5): Nice two night stay in York - Location was good nice room very clean. Nothing
- wa (10/5): -
- Gemma (8/5): Great place, great price, great people. - Clean, comfortable, close to the heart of town. I could walk everywhere. It was quiet all night. Nola was available by phone and happy to meet my requests. Staff were friendly and welcoming. There was nothing I didn’t like. However I would have liked a microwave.
- Hugh (9/5): -
- Peter (9/5): Great - Great location
- Paul (9/5): Great value stay - Rooms clean and comfortable, bed large and very economical to stay in.
- Susann (8/5): Effortless check-in and room was spacious. Parking in front of room. Bed was super comfortable - Secure lockbox key collection Nothing
- Samantha (7/5): Adequate accommodation - Convenience to the Main Street. Greet off street parking. No hot water. Could only contact the manager via cellphone, as from a different country didn’t have calling on my phone. No internet but knew this when booking.
- Jane (8/5): Great place to stay and is central to everything - It is always very clean when we have stayed The mirror in the bathroom needs to be lower for people who aren’t very tall
- john (9/5): - We had a wonderful experience 3 couples 3 rooms all fantastic, everyone involved enjoyed the experience All good
- dianne (8/5): Lovely.so peaceful sitting out on the balcony - Lovely old building. We did book in to the lord Forest room but on arriving found it was not available. No fault of the hosts they had taken it off booking.com but somehow I was cake to choose it and pay the higher price. Host has said she will credit the difference
- Mark (6/5): - Didn’t realise the York Palace was closed and we would not be staying upstairs in a room. The accomodation is located adjacent to the pictured building and this is not clear in the advertising
- Maria (10/5): Fabulous Ovetnight Stay in York - Central location- great for a group of us and parking close by.
- Josephine (8/5): Would stay again, value for money. - Location was good. Family next door made quite a bit of noise early in the morning. Thought we were going to be in the actual hotel part of the building not in the units at the rear of the hotel. Wanted to see the 'old' architecture but where we were was clean and tidy.
- B and G (9/5): - It was behind this beautiful old hotel.
Not what we expected but still quite good.
Hotel was closed. That was disappointing. No meals.
Love York. No toaster.
No backing curtains.
If you open your blinds everyone could see straight into the room.
I like natural light in the day.
- Richard (9/5): Very enjoyable - Quiet and very nice Nothing
- Hazel (7/5): - Location, excellent shower
- Tony (8/5): -
- Andrew (8/5): - Good location
- Tony (9/5): Excellent, would return. - Great location, extremely helpful staff and spacious, well-equipped heritage room.
- Andrew (8/5): An enjoyable hotel in the wheatbelt - The room was magnificent - high ceiling, well appointed, good fridge and very comfortable, with good access to the verandah for a cheeky drink outside to do some people watching. Comfortable beds and a decent choice of different pillows.
Just remember others have access to the verandah - so perhaps close the curtains before you change.
A good night's sleep. The only real downside was the water pressure. Not only was it quite low to begin with, it varied heavily depending on whether others were having showers at the same time in other bedrooms. After a while, those in the next room seem to have figured this out, so we (tacitly) timed our showers.
- Sarah (8/5): Lovely room with king size bed. Full size fridge and patio table and chairs. - Location and plentiful parking. King size bed and large bathroom. No wi fi
- Susan (7/5): -
- Abraham J (8/5): - Spacious, comfortable and central No real view or style. It is comfortable accommodation but nothing more.
- Cheryl68 (8/5): - Very clean and spacious, better than expected for a small town location No food service on-site which is not a big deal as there are cafes close by but would have preferred to know prior to booking
- Adam (8/5): -
- Chris (8/5): -
- janice (9/5): -
- Janine (9/5): - The room was spacious and the location was central and close to the main street and shops and restaurants, the bed was comfortable and overall the room was clean, parking right in front of the room, contactless check in made it very easy, just park and enter. Only things I can note were no tissues in the room and the lamp shades next to the bed were dusty
- Michelle (8/5): Great central location in clean tidy room - Location is great. Nice and clean. Good facilities and big bathroom. Lots of parking and easy to access The pillows could be better and the lighting in the bathroom mirror a little brighter. Opening the curtains is an option but then the people on the street can see in - sheer curtains as an addition would be great
- yiping (5/5): - The location is close to historic places. bathroom water flooding over the whole toilet and even to the bedroom. no curtain ,the water blocker board rotted. the lighting is not enough
- Malcolm (5/5): - Bed and room we clean and comfortable. Lack of facilities, no Wifi, no access to food or refreshments within the complex.
- Jan (9/5): Country style - The old world accommodation was charming, room comfortable and town location very convenient. There was nothing's to doslike
- edwina (10/5): Enjoyable stay in quality accommodation. - Heritage and new combined in a great way.
Terrace room really well thought out. Good quality furniture. Large tiled bathroom. Bed linen too is great quality. Really impressive comfortable room with door out to small place to sit and enjoy relaxing. Private car park. N/a
- Shelley (10/5): A lovely place to stay - The room was spacious and very comfortable. Everything was exactly as described. Nola greeted us personally and was very kind. There is nothing we didn’t like!
- jamie (10/5): -
- Paul (10/5): Awesome place. Would recommend - Great location Nothing
- Charlie (9/5): Comfortable, clean and good value - The location was great and the interaction with the people we spoke with was very positive.

Great host, the dog was my favourite 😍
Nice heritage building. The bar fridge was a bit loud.
- Laima (9/5): -
- Blunty (9/5): A fantastic place to stay in York - modern, clean, warm and a great location - This was a fantastic place to stay overnight when we visited York to see a play. Very happy with our room - super comfortable and easy to access with parking right outside. Towels needed an update but no big deal

- davey (10/5): -
- Jeanette (10/5): Perfect accomodation for a short stay at the historic town of York. - The room was just perfect for our stay in York. It was clean, spacious and very easy to access.
The facilities were basic but provided everything we needed. It needed a mat at the front door as we arrived when it was raining.
- William (6/5): Pleasant -
- Mark (5/5): Passable -
- Mark (5/5): Passable -
- Knights (9/5): Superb - Size, location and comfort No internet??
- Neville (4/5): Disappointing - Friendly and convenient The shower has a major leak. Floods the whole bathroom floor.
- Jane (8/5): Very good - Had a bit of challenge re access via messenger/ getting door codes. It's not easy if you are not on Aus phone network! But lucky we arrived in time to speak with a person in the old reception. Rooms were fine with adjacent parking down side road. Shame old part of original building not in use as hotel, lounge, bar or accommodation. From the photos, you have an impression that you are staying in a historical premises.
- Roger (8/5): Very good - Location. Bed was very comfortable All good
- Ken (10/5): Very comfortable great location -
- Cheryl (8/5): Very good -
- Karol (9/5): A lovely night in York steeped in Australian history - Lovely old building with original features. Rooms modernised but kept many original features Nothing

- Laima (10/5): Loved the building and the location - The location and the accomodating staff as well as the beautiful decor. It was perfect so we liked everything
- Keith (9/5): Very enjoyable weekend - All excellent All ok
- Alyssa (9/5): Great value clean stay in the heart of York. - Located in the heart of York. Right opposite IGA supermarket. Bar/restaurant was closed when we visited.
- Becky (7/5): Great spot close to the town centre. - Short stroll to town centre The sheets and blanket need updating, too noisy every time you move and felt a bit tacky
- Giuseppina (6/5): Overall a comfortable room and well located. - The location was great and the beds were comfortable; appreciated being able to check-in a little earlier so that we could get to our event by 2pm. Cups and glasses needed washing (possibly an oversight as they were found in the hand basin) - toiletries had not been replenished; only soap was provided.
- Brendon (9/5): Central, comfortable. - Town central with everything a few minutes' walk to every convenience.
- James (7/5): Good -
