Guest Reviews
- Hameed Jafar (9/5): -
- Terence (7/5): Great location, good for friends to explore the area. - Convenient to walk to the Puffing Billy train adventure.
Had everything that we needed for a 2 day sta. Mattress in the first bedroom really needs to be replaced, has lost all its support.
- jennifer (10/5): Stunning location , lovely accommodation . - The location was perfect and was comfortable
Host was very helpful Nothing
- Dionne (7/5): - Location Cleanliness
- aristea (1/5): Absolutely disgusting host and premises if I could rate a 0 I would - The worse experience that forced us to leave a day earlier than planned The fact that codes for entering the premises were not provided in time and in effortless manner , we tried repeatedly to contact host then finally contacted customer service who had also tried repeatedly to establish contact but failed until much later
Disgusting smell of body odour on the bed linen pillows particularly
Unwashed glass in sink
Musky damp smell
Inadequate heating
Bins filled to brim on arrival
And appalling offensive response from host who was overseas dismissing all the above as untrue and adding salt to the wounds by insinuating we left for personal reasons and if we have financial problems he would look at giving a small amount back
- Rebecca (8/5): Lovely family stay in a peaceful and cosy home - House was very comfy. Decent quality bed linens and towels. Bed were very comfy and the location was very peaceful and lush
- Karen (7/5): - The location was excellent close to the wedding reception Doors sticking
Not enough coffee cups
My mattress rolled towards the floor
- Caroline (9/5): - Loved the location, layout of the house, fire place, beds were comfortable. Had a lovely back yard & deck. Very close (walking distance) to Belgrave, which had a lot of cool restaurants)cafes, bars & shops. This was a comfortable house which would be great for friends wanting a weekend getaway.
- Maree (9/5): Hillside Retreat - The area was great such a peaceful back deck and yard. Once we worked out the door it was easy and great. I was able to throw from my phone to the smart TV so that was good.
Plenty of room for a group with comfy beds and lounge. I would say the TV needs instructions maybe an Ariel as we could not get the normal TV to work.
- Pamela (6/5): - Hello.
My daughter’s stay in Belgrave has ended and she has left for her home overseas. I would like to take this opportunity to give you a run-down on the condition of the Zen Retreat as follows:-
• The gas heater in the lounge room was very noisy, making an irritating rattling sound continuously when working
• The washing machine did not spin the washing dry, resulting in a masses of hand-wringing of sodden clothing. Since she couldn't spin dry the washing, she couldn't use the dryer
• The kitchen sinks drain was partially blocked
• The rubbish bins were full of rubbish, so there was no where to throw out the new rubbish
• There was rotten food in the fridge
• The amount of kitchen utensils was absolutely minimal, particularly cooking utensils
• Bed and bath linen was supplied without any fresh for changing after 1 one week. Used towels were left behind the bedroom
The owner of the Retreat is overseas and although he was very responsive to requests for clean bed linen, or for flooding to be cleaned, it was quite tiresome to have to go through this procedure. It would have been much better if the house had been in better condition and properly equipped, and not have to hear repetitive apologies for the noisy heater, or the semi-functional washing machine, etc.
Thank you for your attention to these issues. The place could have been better equipped and the evidence of past visitors and their rubbish removed.
- Alicia (10/5): - Great house in a great location. Very pretty surrounds. In the dead of winter, one of the back rooms was a little chilly.
- Kim (8/5): Had everything we needed for our 2 night stay. Walk to town to eat out. Great location. - Spacious living room, deck with BBQ. We ran out of hot water
- Richard (1/5): Cannot make it. - Nil I’m writing to share my experience in this rented house, which has unfortunately been disappointing due to several ongoing issues:
First, there was rubbish scattered outside the house. I contacted the owner, who promised to have it cleared, but two days later, nothing has changed. Second, the water from the bathroom tap is milky, raising concerns about its quality. Third. we’ve faced frequent electricity tripping, affecting multiple power sockets, including the washing machine. We had to troubleshoot ourselves and found that one of the provided heaters has incorrect voltage. We’ve also had a mini pest problem with a small cockroach and spider in the house. Lastly, the kitchen heat exhaust and oven were dirty upon our arrival, with the sink and shower head having quite a bit of rust as well.
I hope these issues will be addressed for future tenants.
- Em (7/5): The Little Crooked House of Belgrave - The location was good as it was only one block away from the train station and only 8km to the venue we were attending a wedding at.
Area was lovely around the location of the house and was nice to walk and explore.
The hostess was pleasant and friendly and had no issue answering any of my questions as we were coming 800km away with four young children.
Was clean and offered linen and towels. The house was literally uneven, you felt constantly on a slope. Was hard to sleep in the bed and sit at the table as it felt odd.
The driveway was very dark and hard for families to see especially with those steep stairs towards to the entry. Would highly recommend getting better lights.
When arrived the bins were already over flowing and we used the one next to it gathering it was an extra to accommodate a business, but after being verbally abused from the neighbours for using his bin we had to remove our bag of rubbish after having to listening to him push is environment views on us while trying to pack a car at 9pm at night in the rain.
Would recommend you let future guest know (especially ones from other states) the rules of your bins system as we were not made aware that Victoria rubbish is only collected once a fortnight. (As your crazy neighbour told us)
I think it pictures better online than in reality.
- Emily (10/5): Exceptional - Easy to get to, good location and facilities
- Gurinderjit (10/5): Exceptional -
- Judith (10/5): Comfortable stay in amongst trees and a short walk to beautiful village of Belgrave. - Open plan living, great views through trees. Beds very comfortable. Walking distance into town.
- Marie (8/5): Very good -
- Stuart (10/5): Awesome place. Highly recommended. - A great place to stay for a relaxed break. Nothing.
- Alison (4/5): Disappointing -
- Flomis (8/5): Zen retreat - Communication with the host was easy and they were friendly, nice and clean house. The outside area and the fire place
- Elissa (7/5): Easy place to explore the Dandenongs - Location was easy for train and town. Immersed in the forest. Closeness to explore rest of the Dandenongs. Could have provided more kitchen supplies.
- Thomas (8/5): Headed up on an adventure for Puffing Billy weekend - The bed, had a good night sleep before the run and the retreat was clean. The key pad touch screen system which took time to get used to using.
