• Esther (9/5): Grosszügiges Loft mit toller Gastgeberin - Alles sehr sauber; grosses Studio mit allem Nötigen zum Kochen, grosses Bad. Trotz der zentralen Lage sehr ruhig, aber sehr dunkel in den alten Gassen. Valentina ist aussergewöhnlich hilfsbereit und stand uns jederzeit zur Verfügung. Sehr entgegenkommend mit dem Check-in und Check-out. Man muss sich bewusst sein, dass die Umgebung mitten in der Altstadt nicht sehr sauber ist.

• Guest (7/5): All in all met our need for a 1 night stay. - Our host way very welcoming. She gave us good recommendations for dinner with a bonus treat of prosecco at restaurant. Place was clean! The entrance was messy due to construction. Narrow stairs to drag up suitcase ( medium size). No “extras” such as Bottled waters ( need in Sicily). Bright street light off balcony, needed darkening shades

The stairs up are uneven and the apartment (Dimora) is not well blessed with natural light, the windows open into a small light well which is somewhat run down. Parking in the area is difficult - best avoided but that is not an issue of the flat

Love it 😊 Confuse some names 😊 Make memories 😊 - A Little Slice of Magic in the Heart of History If you’ve ever wanted to live inside a postcard, Maison Materassai is the place. Nestled at the corner of a charming little piazza surrounded by centuries-old buildings, it feels like the universe carefully dropped this apartment right where beauty, history, and good vibes meet. From the very first moment, the welcome was warm and personal. The lovely owners greeted us outside the apartment - a detail that made us feel instantly at home. I must admit, I had a bit of a brain hiccup and mixed up Valentina’s name (apologies again, Valentina!) but she was so gracious and kind that I felt completely un-embarrassed. Honestly, 10 stars just for that level of kindness! The apartment itself? Spotless. You could eat pasta off the floor (but please don’t). It’s tastefully arranged with a mix of Scandi minimalism meets funky Italian flair - kind of like if IKEA and a Italian modern art student had a stylish baby. And oh, the location! You step out the door and BAM - there’s St. Domenico church, and just around the corner, St. Mary “La Nova”. Every direction you walk, there's another beautiful surprise waiting: a hidden fountain, a dramatic facade, or a street that looks like a film set. The Marina? A literal stone’s throw away (and yes, I tested it - okay not really, but it’s close!). Don’t forget tasting gelato in a brioche bun is an absolute must. Germans, Americans, Brits, Poles will be passing by and commenting on you eating the gelato in a brioche, just ignore it and enjoy the taste. Even though I only stayed for 2 days, I had intrusive thoughts of “accidentally” missing my flight and staying for a month 😊. The neighbourhood is trendy and alive - clearly a favourite among locals. I absolutely loved the spontaneous street parties that just erupted outside bars and spilled joy into the night air like confetti. If you're lucky, you might even find yourself dancing with strangers under the stars.

Located in the centre of Palermo, 15 minutes walk from the main station, we had easy access to all points of interest. We cannot thank enough the owners who were extremely helpful, very informative and patient. And worth mentioning, they speak fluent French and English Nothing we did not like!
