Guest Reviews
- Katharine and Brendan (10/5): A slice of Sanur history is a beautiful garden in amazing location. - Absolutely loved our stay. We love the history of Bali and all the wonderful carvings and decorations around the villa. The location is spot on central Sanur!
We had breakfast at Cafe Batujimbar most days and highly recommended
The villa is just off the main road but quiet.
We will be back! The communication with Sudamala was so bad I cancelled twice as I thought it was a con. Thankfully it wasn't.
Once you are at the bills though, the staff are very helpful. Not that you need them much as you are self sufficient once you are there.
Once you are in the pool it's wonderful. It's a little dicey getting in though with a wobbly tile at the 'steps' into the deep end once you've navigated the gap.
But - once you are in - Bliss! Great temperature and levels. 🥰
- Steve (9/5): Generally speaking the facility was pleasant and the location was very suitable for our stay. -
- Jacquelin (9/5): Thoroughly enjoyed our stay ! - Just tea and coffee. Cover on the pool pump as it was a little noisy.
- Permanentforeigner (5/5): Disappointing, property needs an upgrade to compete with other offerings in the area. - Location is great for Sanur, walking distance to everything. Private road, in a neighbourhood full of exclusive villas, the security is some of the most serious I have seen in any Indonesian tourist areas. The property is tired, very old and lots of improvements needed. AC didnt work in some places, they could fix it only in one room which was very musty and the bathroom smells. Other AC leaked, they tried fixing it and it leaked again the next day.
The tiles around the pool breaks here and there. Cleanliness is very poor, after checking in we had to ask them to clean it again, hairs on the floor and drains, cigarette buds lying around, lizard droppings everywhere etc. towels very tired and old. Hot water is a hit and miss, lots of mosquitoes and the kitchen is in a very bad condition, I don't think its worth the money we paid given there are other places for the same price which are of higher quality.
I don't think it is the fault of the staff who were lovely and can only do so much, this property is long overdue for a complete upgrade, the management should try staying there for a while and pay attention. Others who said this was 5 stars must have very low expectation, I've been to many places around Bali and this is not the standard according to what I have seen.
My recommendation is not to stay here.
- Daniel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Matthew (1/5): Bad - The property was dirty and mouldy with broken air conditioning amongst many other things. We couldn’t stay there.
- Klara (9/5): Slice of paradise - This is a gorgeous villa with 3 separate buildings - 2 with queen or king sized beds, one with a single bed. The pool and garden are definitely its best features - having a dip in the shade of the trees, with gorgeous frangipanis and other lush tropical plants was heaven.
Great restaurants nearby - Batujimbar cafe was especially delicious.
Shopping - Magita XL has homewares at fixed prices, but they were actually better than I managed to get from some of the small stall sellers. Watch out for that very first stall on the left - we realised we overpaid significantly for some trinkets! Although it looks close to the beach on the map, there is no direct beach access by heading straight in the direction of the water - you need to go to the main road and turn right and then the next lane way to the right. Or turn left at the main road and take the next lane to the left. Either way will get you there, but it’s a longer walk than I imagined.
Also, the bedroom with the single bed is a bit dingy - especially the bathroom attached which has no window and could do with some maintenance.
Don’t expect to cook anything on the stove as it doesn’t work, but the oven does. Otherwise, kitchen is great.
