Guest Reviews
- Kathy (5/5): Frustrating - the boardwalk was breezy and very pretty especially at sunset We stayed in a glamping tent and literally could not sleep due to the tent wall flapping and banging against the bed in the room with the bunk beds. We had requested and were granted a quiet location thru booking.com! The website should state that if it is windy the glamping tents will be flapping and loud. When we called about not being able to sleep they kindly offered to moved us to a cabin, but the upcharge was way more than we could afford. When we met with the manager there was no flexibility on cost. We were told that they cannot control the weather and that tents are noisy in the wind! We appreciated being moved, however, it would have been more fair to only charge the upcharge for one night. We would have checked out after the first night had we known the cost. We learned what the cost was after the 11am checkout time.
- Donna (8/5): It was a wonderful stay very relaxing - Location set up. Screened in porch Ants
- Abingdon (8/5): Overall the place was great. Beautiful location, and it was very quiet. - Beautiful location No hot water
- DE PAZ (10/5): - Todo muy bueno
- Robert (9/5): Very enjoyable! - Location was ideal and everything we needed was on the campground. The food truck was a nice additional and the store was nice too!! Can’t think of anything we didn’t like.
- RITA ADNAN (9/5): Lovely cottages - The cottages with the rooftop are adorable. Surprisingly spacious for a small cottage, with large walk in shower. Modern kitchen with all the basic cutlery provided. Nice fresh towels. We went in early spring so enjoyed the quiet as place was mostly empty, but i imagine it will be very busy in the summer. Overall lovely place but would recommend adding some wall hooks to the room with bunk beds .. it is too small to have a cupboard or drawers but hooks would have been quite handy.
- Katherine (7/5): -
- Barbara (9/5): Enjoyable. - Location/view Front desk needed more help. Had to wait a while to check in because the only employee there was helping someone on the phone with a reservation. 3-4 people were waiting in line by the time the call was complete.
- Erica (10/5): Perfect in every way! - This property offers a picture perfect view of the Chincoteague Bay, beautiful cottages, large playground, attractive pool area, and loaded welcome building. It's the most impressive cottages/RV grounds on the island. I personally wouldn't want to stay on the others. They don't look as nice, their location is smaller, and their view is not as clear of the bey. The bey is the most tranquil place I have ever been! I liked it all!
- Andrea (9/5): Nice stay, but could use some improvements - We loved that we had a cottage that had cooking functionality and a refrigerator. This saved us a ton of money and convenience since our party had elderly folks (three over 90 years). We also appreciated additional activities and the discount for Maui Jack's. We used the sleep sofa and it really needs another mattress. You could feel the springs. (They might consider getting memory foam.) Also, I was surprised that we had to make up the bunk beds when we got there. The master bed was made up, but they did not touch the second room.
- Darrell (8/5): - Need more area for pets
- Aaron (9/5): It’s as nice as it looks. Fun spot - Nice layout and newer buildings Can’t say anything bad
- Kaitlyn (10/5): -
- Michele (10/5): -
- David (10/5): - The View Nothing i didn't like loved everything
- MMajestic (8/5): -
- Joyce (8/5): - Loved the upper deck. Wonderful views. Cottage was comfortable. Pool closed at 6:00.
- Jay (10/5): Very nice campground resort with great amenities. Great spot for a family trip. Highly recommend. - Everything was new or in like new condition and the layout was nice. Good amenities and the staff were extremely friendly. The floors were a little dirty. I understand it’s a beach cottage so it’s not going to be spotless. Also the blinds were missing from one of the bedrooms so our kids were up with the sun the first morning.
- Carla (10/5): We will definitely be coming back! - We loved that it was quiet and very relaxing Had to get used to people walking right through your site.
- Lizann (10/5): All was quite comfortable and the wheelchair and a few walking steps made things assessable - Property was right across from the sidewalk and water Walls were a little thin when you turned on the tv to a level where you could hear the actors talk
- O'bryan (10/5): Exceptional - It was clean, quiet, and friendly. The views were beautiful. I would definitely recommend The only thing that I can think of is that the middle room with the bunk beds was warm. Air was great in the front room and back bedroom, but that middle room was still warm.
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Jean-claude (8/5): Very good -
- French (10/5): Exceptional - Very clean, quiet, and tranquil. The location was perfect. Easy to get to and close to everything That we couldnt stay longer
- Mark (8/5): Although some dissatisfaction, my wife wants to come back in the fall. Happy wife, happy life!!! - The view, for such a small cabin it was very quiet. When I open the room, flies greeted me. More then what I thought I should have to deal with BUT they were taken care of in a timely manner. Welcome center was not open long enough, I am on vacation I would like something to stay open longer than 6 pm. The pool closed at 6, Mon - Thurs. Once again people visit that are on vacation, things should stay open later. Come back from the beach, would like to go swimming, or even after dinner. Very disappointed the pool was not open longer!!!
- Lauren (10/5): Can’t wait to come back next year! - The pool was wonderful! My daughter loved it! Also we got very lucky with our view from the cottage and had a wonderful sunset view each night. Can’t really complain, the only thing I can think of is maybe put a mirror in master bedroom and some hooks to hang towels in the bunk bed room but those are really just minor things.
- Tisha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brenda (10/5): It was our anniversary weekend and we enjoyed it so much that we booked again for next year! - The location was beautiful and very clean. Flies were annoying getting inside so next time I’ll bring a fly swatter!
- Ronald (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful setting. Very quite in a quaint town. Did not stay longer.
- Alexandria (10/5): It was amazing! Relaxing and so nice to be on the water. We loved the location, the house was super nice and we will pro - The property was fantastic! It was further from town than most places BUT that was perfect! We didn’t want to be in heart of it all. And it was perfect to be on the water The only “bad” thing (and this is probably petty lol!) was their request to sweep out the house and balcony before we checked out. Didn’t honestly want to be doing that before trying to leave but otherwise nothing was bad!
- Jordan (10/5): Wonderful time! Cannot wait to go back - The cottage was extremely clean and made perfect use of the small space. I was also pleasantly surprised at how comfortable the bed was! I could have stayed for weeks. The staff were all so kind and helpful! Can’t wait to go back. Loved it all
- Dave (10/5): Wonderful - Ver nice and we’ll keep facilities.
- Alia (10/5): Happy to Return! - One of the main reasons I chose this property was because it was dog friendly. It was also in a great location right by the bay. The cottages were clean and spacious with two separate bedrooms and a screened-in patio with rocking chairs. There was also more deck space on the top if you weren't in one of the cabins right next to the water. Loved walking our dog on the boardwalk. I received a lot of emails beforehand where actual instructions and information were mixed in with a lot of promotional info that I found a bit confusing. And I didn't realize there was a check-out list that we were supposed to complete, like washing the dishes, emptying the trash and stripping the beds, which seems like something the cleaners should do for the price. There was also no dining table, which would've been nice for family puzzles and games, etc. But other than that, it was great!
- Christy (7/5): Fix the water issue and this would be a perfect vacation getaway. - The location was nice. Loved the private upper deck with glass walls. Great place to watch the sunset over the water. Very cool tiny house with a firepit. All in all, it was adorable. We really enjoyed it. The water smells like horrible sulfur. This SERIOUSLY needs to be investigated further. The maintenance person said they don't know what it is, but the glamping tents have an even worse odor. The coffee makers are loud and quite awful. More kitchen wares would be nice. Bare minimum to use. No boiling pot except one to maybe boil a whole lobster or a pot of crabs.
- Edwin (10/5): Loved this place - Convenience Too windy😃
- Alain (10/5): Excellente - Everything N/a
- Will (8/5): Very good - Clean, comfortable, good location. Burrs in the grassy areas kept getting in our dogs feet.
- Holly (10/5): Great stay, but not great shower - Clean, comfortable and conveniently located. Shower ran out of hot water really fast and we'd have to wait for it to warm up for next person to shower.
- Hendrickson (1/5): Bad - nothing way the cabin was neglected, batterys dead in 3 of 4 remote devices, checked in after office was closed couldn't get the heat to work, check out before office opened had no provision to drop key off. was charged for key. my daughter went back to give the key back I had been charged for it already so I got a credit. For what this cost me I could have stayed in a good hotel with heat and breakfast and
no
- Karen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Linda (9/5): Delightful...beautiful weather and perfect location for us. - Our cottage was extremely nice and the rooftop deck and view were amazing. Enjoyed the fire pit and the fishing pier on the bay. The screen porch and rocking chairs were perfect for morning coffee. We have been to Chincoteague many times, but this was our first time at Sun Outdoors. Didn't want to leave and will definitely be back. Not a big deal, but good to know a few things. Kitchen, while quite well equipped, was a bit lacking in pots and pans. No sofa table (we used counter stools), but had to play cards on the bed. Nice outdoor picnic table and chairs, but bring some form of lantern as there is no outdoor lighting that illuminates that area. I brought a hair dryer and was glad I did as there isn't one. These were really trivial items and will certainly not stop us from returning, just good to know in advance.
- Taylor (8/5): Comfortable and fun! - Lots to do, great location! More distance between the RVs due to light pollution.
- Jean (10/5): We enjoyed it immensely. Assatauge beach within 10 min drive where one can view the wild horses. - The tiny home with spiral staircase to roof was lovely for viewing sunsets and the backwater way . We could see birds, dolphins and seafaring vessels. Beautiful views. The pool closed Labor day and we were there in late September. There were no bike rentals on the property. They were not far away but would have needed our bike racks.
- Jenny (10/5): The perfect weekend get away. Already booked a week in 2025. The perfect place to relax and unwind! - Convenient and clean
- Amber (8/5): Very good experience for the first time and we enjoyed our stay! We talked abi - The location was nice and easy access to down town. Nothing
- Meghan (9/5): Fantastic ! Book it - Very nice new campground with great amenities- Loved the cottage concept with the roof top views- Many nice outdoor seating options of high quality. Great trash pick up at all hours of the day right outside the door. The pull out sofa mattress was pretty lumpy- would be ok for kids but surely not adults. The master bedroom was advertized as a queen but very small - more like a double
- Michael (10/5): Vacation of a lifetime - Everything was fantastic a vacation spot of a lifetime Should have couple handicap ramp cottages
- Doris (8/5): Love it, would definitely recommend and would come back again! - Staff was very friendly and helpful. Couldn’t have asked for a better location we got to watch the boats go in and out and could watch the sunset from the roof. Saw dolphins in the morning. We had the best time touring the island on the MOKE. Wish the MOKE could have been picked up and delivered to the site. We had an elderly person that couldn’t walk far, but we made it work.
- Anita (10/5): Amazing. - Great location, clean,
- Deborah (8/5): Very good -
- Deborah (8/5): Very good - Property kept well! Kids loved clamming , fishing & crabbing ! Swimming pool lovely ! Views were amazing.
- Lisa (8/5): Great first time in experience was nice but will not return - Very clean , great location , pool was clean Pricing was high, dog park was not operating
- Valerie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Liudmila (10/5): Exceptional - Everything
- Karen (5/5): Passable - The location was on the bay and was beautiful sunsets and they had a lighted boardwalk that you could enjoy. The fishing pier was great for the kids and no need to hassle with any license to fish. The kitchen came with bare amentities, and the cottages do not come with grills. We rented a cottage and asked to be placed next to our family who was traveling with us. Sites are changed randomly if not locked in and they made no accomodations to try to change it. Sund Outdoors blamed booking.com for the changes and said they were not able to move our cottages closer together. Limited activities on site.
- Goff (10/5): an amazing experience - dog friendly nothing!:)
- Kershaw (9/5): Superb -
- Vishnu (10/5): Exceptional - The whole place and surroundings were beautiful. The property is very close to the boarding point for the sunset boat ride.
- Erin (8/5): Very good -
- Tania (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional - The location was perfect. Staff was friendly, facilities are new and clean. Our only regret is that we weren't able to stay longer.
- Virginia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christine (10/5): Mini Vac 5/22/24 - EVERYTHING!!!!! The pool and water park were not yet open.
- Carissa (7/5): Good -
- Dr (10/5): Memorable! - Location was spectacular. Boardwalk was an incredible addition. Space was immaculate and cozy. Trash service was.regular but was uncomfortable leaving it out for pickup.
- Mark (10/5): Outstanding - Everything. The place is fantastic! Nothing.
- Angela (10/5): Amazing time, great location, wonderful staff! - Proximity to the water. N/A
- Oppmann (8/5): Very nice, clean, place to stay. - We liked how clean and new everything was. It had amazing views of the water and the sunset. The buildings and the camp sites are very close together. Luckily we went before peak season so it wasn’t very crowded but could see it being very cramped during the summer months.
- Brian (10/5): Beautiful place, clean, friendly people and service. -
- Ashley (9/5): Superb -
- Jess (8/5): Very good - We loved the location and views. The cottage was very clean and had all the amenities we needed. Unfortunately the beds weren’t very comfortable, similar to camper beds, so it was expected. They are dog friendly but unfortunately the dog park wasn’t open yet and would have been nice for potty breaks. The whole campground is gravel not paved, so other than the few grassy areas it was hard on our old dogs paws. Overall we had a very nice time and will definitely be back with a little adjusted planning. ☺️
