Guest Reviews
- Rebecca (8/5): Lovely house and host - Lovely property. Good location. Bit cold because of floors in places but not anything much that can be done to address this.
- Keith (10/5): A very nice cottage - in every way. - The cottage was absolutely lovely! Very clean and cozy. And the owners did many extra little things that made our stay really special - including fresh eggs from their own hens; and a keep sake mug with flowers and the cottage name on it.
We definitely have plans to return here in the future. No dislikes
- Emma (10/5): Lovely, quaint cottage getaway - Loved out stay here! Gorgeous, quaint and well-equipped cottage, in a great location. Really clean and nice touches to make us feel welcome (eggs from the chickens, teabags, coffee, sugar a little gift bag). Great communication too from owner. The only thing was the mattresses, which were very soft and probably ready for replacing. But the bedding and pillows and everything else great quality.
- Rachel (10/5): Comfy home from home. - It was like being at home away from home. Very clean and comfortable. It was lovely to have the wood burner in the lounge to make the evening even more cosy. Parking on the property is helpful. Stairs are quite steep but the handrail made it possible for my elderly mother to get upstairs. Great shower. Very comfy beds. The Bay Horse was a winner for a delicious evening meal but you’d need to drive. Shop and a couple of other places to eat are in easy walking distance. Road outside is quite busy at commuting times but good windows cut out a lot of noise. Would recommend.

- Janet (8/5): Lovely spacious cottage. - Clean, comfortable and spacious cottage. Comfortable bed. Well equipped kitchen. Walking distance to 2 great restaurants and canal walks. Busy main road.
- Scott (10/5): - Very cute well appointed little cottage No bath for my toddler
- Katherine (10/5): Beautiful cottage with everything a family (with dog!) could need. Ideal location for visiting family, popping to the Tr - Everything we could have possibly needed was provided - the softest towels, hotel-quality beds and even a cheese grater in the useful kitchen drawer. The heating kept coming on during the night which made us a bit warm in the night but nothing to complaint about as it was wonderfully cosy.
- Sophie (10/5): Fabulous stay and would definitely return - Beautiful decor and All the amenities you would need Nothing
- Emily (10/5): Clean and cosy - Perfect stay. Spotlessly clean and you feel instantly at home. Vicky has thought of everything you might need. Thank you for a great stay :)

Attention to detail was beyond fantastic.
- Deborah (10/5): -
- Christine (10/5): - Perfect location to visit family and explore.
The kitchen facilities are very good. Sofa's and chairs are comfortable, and the log burner is a bonus. Nice little touches with the eggs etc. Not a question of didn't like but feel we need to mention that the hot water tap is faulty in the bathroom and the key lock safe by the front door doesn't lock. No matter what code is entered, it unlocks.

- Vicky (10/5): Probably one of the best value accommodations I’ve ever stayed in - What a fantastic little cottage with lots of thoughtful touches. The welcome pack was extremely generous and we particularly loved the fresh eggs! The location was great with a few pubs and places to eat within walking distance. The driveway accommodated 2 large cars and the bed was really comfortable. It’s incredible value for money and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. Nothing
- karen (10/5): Exceptional pretty and clean cottage - Great host gave us the correct door box code as soon as I called her and was super friendly. Nothing I did not like
- Carl (8/5): - Very plush, comfortable beds. The decor of all the rooms are lovely.

Sehr gemütlich eingerichtet
- Vicky (10/5): - Adlington Cottage is one of the loveliest cottages I've stayed at, beautiful inside, exceptionally clean and lots of features and extras provided to make our stay delightful. The location is fantastic, just steps away from a lovely pub and a short walk from shops, the train station, parks and canal. The host is so helpful and kept in touch throughout our stay. We can't wait to return.
- Mark (9/5): Loved staying here and hope to be back - Lovely property
With everything you need Nothing
- Rob (9/5): Great stay for Rivington - Spacious, well furnished with some lovely homely touches, well equipped, easy access to beautiful Rivington and a railway station nearby Located on a main road so some road noise as expected, but not bad at the weekend
- Darrel (9/5): Used as a base to meet with friends who were camping nearby - Easily accessible. Great comms with the owner. Ticked all our boxes and did what we needed it to.
Clean, comfortable and bright Nothing

- Christopher (10/5): Home away from home and loved by all the family. Perfect location, cottage size and facilities. - Adlington Cottage was just perfect for our family. Great location and fantastic facilities. Loved the comfort and cosy feel, plus the cottage vibe was complimented perfectly with the decor and accessories.
- Paula (10/5): Another lovely stay - Our second stay in this lovely cottage; it's perfect for us for visiting family. It really is like a home from home - so warm and comfortable. And love all the little touches.
Just wish it was easier to get in - it's clearly so popular (understandably) that it's always booked up.
- Elizabeth (10/5): Cozy and comfortable - The cottage is amazing, very cozy.
Detail is everything and this has so much detail. The morning we left, the heating was turned off and it was freezing.
- Kerry (10/5): Lovely accomodation with everything we needed. - Beautiful little house, perfect for our weekend trip and easily accessible to surrounding areas
- Catherine (9/5): Lovely cosy relaxed stay with lots of dog walking - Lovely cosy cottage. Loved the log burner. Location was great wor long dog walks. Shops close by and canal walks just 5 minutes walk away.
- Richings (8/5): Very well appointed for me and well equipped - This was a cottage, no food involved, every amenity was provided but shower too small and staircase not ideal for an elderly person. Seating was low, not ideal for older person.
- Louise (10/5): Comfortable, clean, enjoyable stay - Property was very comfortable, 2nd stay for us, host has a lot of lovely touches within the property, EV charger for the car too which was a bonus.
- Peter (9/5): Comfortable, home from home - Location, clean and well thought out touches for guests Nothing
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarah (9/5): We would stay again. Perfect as my family live in Adlington and surrounding areas - Location for us was perfect as we were here for a family wedding. It was clean and good value. Nothing. They put a lot of detail into the cottage. The little messages were lovely and teddy’s eggs were a lovely gesture
- Susan (10/5): Exceptional - It was a very comfortable house with attention to detail. A great find. I come from Chorley so knew, the, area which is,gorgeoud
- Lady (9/5): Would stay there again and certainly recommend it to others. - All the extra little touches such as a welcome pack of necessities.
On site parking
- Samantha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Donna (10/5): 5* Stay. - Lovely cottage with everything you need. Great location for walks. Highly recommend.
- Graham (10/5): The best place I have stayed that was not a hotel - Everything
- Ian (10/5): Exceptional - The thoughtful touches, the decor, the facilities provided, the cleanliness, the WiFi, Nothing to dislike
- Grant (10/5): A wonderful cosy weekend with family. - I loved everything about this property, from the decor to the thoughtful little touches. I would highly recommend this cottage. To be honest, there was nothing I didn't like. If pushed, I would say the stairs were rather steep! All part of the experience.
- Carol (10/5): Excellent cottage - The owner has created a really homely, well-equipped cottage, that makes an ideal base for exploring the area. Parking space on the drive for a car was useful, the kitchen had just about everything you could possibly want, and the beds were very comfortable. Lots of little extras provided including fresh eggs collected by the owner's children. The nearby canal towpath made an ideal place to walk the dog. Nothing.
- Gary (9/5): A lovely cottage in a good location - would definitely recommend. - It was a great location for us - handy for visiting family in Chorley and we really enjoyed some lovely walks in the area.
The cottage was well equipped so gave us the option of self catering. Very tastefully decorated and a delightful welcoming space to enjoy.
- Mike (9/5): Perfect!! - Love this place. This was our second visit and it lived up to our expectations. Lovely attention to details. A very helpful and communicative hostess. We will definitely be back. There was nothing to negative to say about this place
- Karen (10/5): Family visit - Easy access cottage, great location for our needs overall visiting family.
Spinners pub less than a minutes walk a nice local with friendly staff. The Retreat was next to this so for food and drink excellent spot and quiet despite the pubs and the main road being so close.
Nice log burner which we enjoyed ! Very clean and after comments re low water pressure in the shower it was actually fine. Like many homes don't flush toilets and run water elsewhere , we had no problem at all. It is an electric shower so they're always a bit less powerful. We would definitely return if we needed to be in the area again and it was available. The TV is Smart, in case you were wondering.
We were left biscuits and a lovely mug and pen, thank you 😊
- Raja (10/5): Exceptional -
- Debbie (8/5): Well equipped cottage, nice and clean and afford - The cottage itself was really nice, for me the bed was uncomfortable but I do suffer with my back, so maybe it was just me. Everything was there, kitchen was well equipped and the pub is literally on the doorstep so bonus. The only thing I didn’t like was the bed, but as I say I have a bad back so could be just me.
- Patricia (9/5): Superb - How clean and comfortable it was Nothing
- Lucy (10/5): Exceptional - Loads of space. Well equipped with everything. Nice touches.
- Mike (10/5): Exceptional - Outstanding! Warm, comfortable, beautifully decorated and furnished with lots of thoughtful touches and everything you could need. Really well maintained and in a perfect location for what we needed. Great valuw too. 100% recommended, thanks!
- Louise (9/5): Cosy and comfortable house, had everything we needed. - Well equipped, cosy and comfortable. Perfect for what we needed.
- Warren (10/5): the stay was lovely, will be booking again - The whole experience was perfect. even left us eggs from there chickens no dislikes
- Barbara (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lauren (10/5): Exceptional - Love cute cottage lovely little touches
- Happy (10/5): Excellent personalised cottage - The area is good for dog walking & plenty of shops a short drive away. The rooms are all a good size & beds comfortable. We particularly liked all the personal & thoughtful touches the hosts has put in. They could probably do with more bins & table lamps around the property but it really wasn't an issue for us & would love to stay there again.
- Sharran (8/5): Nice cottage - Nicely decorated, kitchen well equipped and bedrooms, bathroom had all you needed. Great log fire, dogs are welcome. There was no garden only side passage but had the bins there, which took up what little space there was, but a park and canal is close by for exercising your dogs.. As we were there for 14 days, the chairs in the lounge are VERY WORN and uncomfortable, and they may need to look at a better suite.
- Adina (8/5): very pleasant and neat and welcoming - nice little house. on site parking bed configuration was not clear before booking
- Anjella (10/5): What a lovely place to stay. All the little home away from home touches. Absolutely perfect. Will definitely be booking - A really lovely property with fire place and electric car charging facilities
- Andrew (8/5): Very good -
- Carleen (10/5): Fabulous Christmas get away for us and dog. Warm and toasty on arrival with some lovely goodies from owner. Great commun - Everything. Was very comfortable and beautifully decorated for Christmas. Lovely wood burner. Fantastic parking b Nothing!
- Chris (10/5): Lovely cottage - Great value. Great communication and support from Vicky. Thank you Vicky! -
- Mike (9/5): Super homely and very pleasant accommodation with attention to detail 10/10 - The attention to detail was really amazing . The accomodation was lovely clean and really made homely by the wood burner. Located on a main road that caused no disturbance. Mobile signal was poor but the free wifi totally made up for that. I would happily rate this as 10/10 and will definitely return. A very good and detailed welcome manual lots of thought gone into this letting. Water pressure but again this was identified in the welcome manual and was adequate if no other taps were on.
- Hina (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect stay and welcoming feel the moment you enter the house. Attention has been given to every aspect of day to day living. Lovely art work displayed throughout and loved fairy door in the staircase.
Will love you stay again
Thanks Nothing

- Chris (10/5): Adlington Cottage - Comfortable cottage, a 5 minute walk from the train station, from there regular trains to Manchester, Preston , Blackpool, Chorley
A short walk to the Leeds Liverpool canal, great for walking the dogs
Local pubs friendly , would definitely stay again Road outside a bit busy, but to be expected as its a main A road into Chorley
- Julia (9/5): Superb -
- Blue (10/5): Highly recomment, Quality, cost and service, great - This property was perfect for our needs, we stayed at the start of our trip and again towards the end, the property was great, with off-street parking, great facilities and clean as a whistle We have no complaints, everything exceeded our expectations and we plan to stay again.
- Blue (10/5): We will be using this property again in the future - We just loved this cute cottage Nothing to complain about
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stanley (9/5): Spotless, well 'kitted out' and cosy. - Tend not to eat breakfast. Less traffic on the road outside.
- Mellissa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mairead (10/5): Our stay was comfortable and peaceful. Our needs were well catered for with thoughtful little gestures. - Beautiful property
Tasteful decoration There wasn’t much I disliked. If I was to suggest though that if you’ve any mobility issues or have toddlers you may need to be aware of the stairs. It’s an old cottage that has been refurbished so the stairs is narrow and has a strong vertical incline. There is no ground floor bedroom
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional -
- Samantha (8/5): Great cottage in perfect location for us to visit family and friends -
- Ciaron (10/5): lovely and characterful - very characterful property with open fire places. it has great parking for family sized vehicles. comfortable beds to sleep in with great facilities in the kitchen. owner left out cherry bakewells as welcome gift, with low will power i couldn't resist the temptation which totally screwed my diet up. i am now trying to get back on it again.
- Paula (10/5): A lovely cottage that has it all - A really lovely comfortable, well equipped and clean cottage. A very handy location for us for visiting family. The off road parking was a huge bonus. Absolutely everything had been thought of - right down to a basket of emergency supplies. We were really touched by the gift of the eggs; thank you Teddy. It's brilliant that Adlington finally has such great self catering accommodation. We can't wait to stay again, and hopefully for a bit longer next time. There was nothing not to like; it was all spot on.
- Val (9/5): Great stopover - Lovely wee house. Easy to find, clean and off street parking. Everything needed for an overnight stay. Just a wee bit noisy as on a main road
- Elaine (9/5): Addlington Cottage - Good amount of space. Lovely rooms and nice location near a pub & a shop..some nice walks by the canal.
Thoughtful touches in the cottage like an emergency basket of things like toothpaste, soap & perfume. N/A
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional - Superb property, very well kept with all amenities anyone will require for a great stay. Wish it would of been colder weather so I could of made use of the log burner.
Great communication from the owner and will definitely use again when in the area Nothing it was all good
