- Maksim (10/5): - The hotel is situated in an incredibly convenient location—right in the center of McleodGunj. It is easy to reach any destination. The hotel offers beautiful views of the mountains. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff kindly allowed us to check in at 9:00 AM; they also assisted us with laundry service and calling a taxi. Thank you for your help! I highly recommend this hotel to everyone.
- Rohan (9/5): - The staff is great, the view is amazing
- Mr (9/5): - Good staff manger was good Location
- Thrupthi (10/5): - Clean and good location
- Jr Yun (8/5): -
- Vakhariya (10/5): peace and calm - very nyc clean and near to Mall Road, staff is also very kind .
- Bastienne (8/5): Great location, very kind staff and option for roomservice breakfast -
- Dr Nagesh (9/5): -
- Akhilesh (10/5): -
- Rolf (9/5): - The beautiful room with balcony and a perfect view of the mountains.
- Lara (10/5): Great stay, friendly and helpful staff - The property was very clean and we had a gorgeous little balcony. The bed was comfortable and the shower nice and hot. The staff were very helpful, organising our laundry and taxis for us. Nothing
- Nuw (4/5): Serious breach of hygiene and other stuff... - The receptionist was welcoming and even texted me to offer to book a taxi for me to pick me up at the bus station, but unfortunately that's the only positive thing about this hostel. He did, however, have the decency to refund me for the days I ultimately didn't stay. SoI left the hotel because it was impossible to sleep properly, as the door opened directly onto the roof. Between the cold wind, the light being on all night, and the excessive drinking of other guests, it was simply unbearable. The bedside lamp and the electrical outlet didn't work. Furthermore, I saw staff remaking a bed that had been occupied the previous day (for three days, the occupant told me), without changing the sheets or the pillowcase... and they put another person in the same bed a few hours later. I witnessed everything because it was raining heavily that day, and I stayed in the room for several hours. This is a serious breach of hygiene standards.
Also, all the lockers have been removed, which forces you to always carry everything with you (going up and down about fifty steps every time you go back and forth to the hostel) or to take some of your belongings down to leave them at reception every time you go out.
- Joni (9/5): - Perfect value for money. Lovely view from balcony. Staff were very helpful and helped us book a taxi also. Close to the main area as well.
- Anindita (9/5): -
- Titiksha (8/5): - Location was top notch. View was the best. Staff service was ok ok as they only cleaned the room once in 3 days. We asked bread and tea for breakfast but the taste was not that good. They provided us the heater as well. Overall good time good stay. Value for money.
- sandeep (9/5): Great stay. - Staff, rooms and hygiene
- Jaakko Santtu (9/5): Great hotel with amazing views for a good price - Very comfortable and aesthetically pleasing room, great staff, good price. The views from the balcony are awesome. The room was spacious and clean. The location was beautiful and pretty central. The hotel is right in the middle of a set of long, long, loooong stairs which were beaufiful and fun but became pretty cumbersome over the several days we were there. Every time, climbing them up, climbing them up...
- Meena (8/5): -
- Ramil (10/5): Клевое место - Хорошее место, отличный персонал. Помогли с сумками и вызвали такси. Очень мило и уютно. Расположение не идеальное. Вниз по лестнице.
- Benjamin (9/5): - I had such a good stay that I extended from one to three days. Ashwin at reception was incredibly helpful. They helped carry my bags to my room, which has everything one could hope for.
Fresh spring water, heaters, decent WiFi and great views of the mountains.
I love the area, too. Walking distance from Mcleod Ganj, just behind the famous Lung Ta restaurant, while far away enough not too hear too much noise. There is however quite a bit of noise in the area from nearby construction and someone playing loud music in the mornings. Walls are quite thin, but nothing that a decent pair of earplugs can't resolve.
- Jayesh (10/5): -
- Dion (10/5): - Great hotel, great value for money. Room was spacious, comfortable and clean. Heater provided for free in the wintery cold. Lots of blankets as well. Hot water at all times. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Most or all rooms come with a nice balcony with views of the mountains, and with sun in the morning. Recommended. You have to go up/down quite a few steps to get from the road to the hotel entrance. Might be a problem for some people.
- Yadav (7/5): -
- Oriental Teddy (9/5): - The view is superb. There are plenty of cafes around to eat so good location as well. Id ideally want breakfast for this price but this hotel does not have a kitchen. But, atleast the nearby cafes help a lot.
- Takron (9/5): Clean room, Nice Staff, Amazing view - The best hotel ever during my trip to India. The staff were very helpful. The room is clean and comfortable. The heater is provided including in the fee. The mountain view from the room is amazing! The location is not too far from the center of Dharamshala.
- Ruchit (10/5): - The dorm was extremely clean. The washroom was hygienic too. The staff took great care in keeping everything clean. They also have a v helpful and charming manager, Ashwin Thakur Bhaiji who had guided me with best recommendations. He kept us like a member of your own family. The only thing that I didn’t like was the location. Had to climb down a lot of stairs to reach the hostel and then 4 levels of stairs to enter the dorm.
- Raj (9/5): - Had a great stay! The rooms are spacious, well-maintained, and equipped with all the necessary amenities, along with incredible views of the Triund Peak and the Dhauladhar range.
Ashish Thakur, who manages the property, is extremely warm and helpful, whether it’s taxi bookings, bike rentals, or guidance for treks, he’s always ready to assist.
Overall, we had a wonderful experience. Highly recommended for families, couples, and even bachelors.
- Akanksha Parab (10/5): - Very welcoming staff and the management, gave us early check in even during the peak tourist season. Hot water available at all times. Arranged for a cab for our travel further. Very helpful and genuine folks. We are also staying at their other property in Bir after the stay here.
- Mani (10/5): Looking forward to going again - Ashwin Thakur, our host was very hospitable. Helped us throughout. The views from the room are to die for.
- Justine (4/5): -
- Stephen (8/5): - Nice room with balcony and views of the hills, big room with decent bathroom and hot shower. Whilst a good location, noise from traffic and dogs barking all night can be an issue.
- LeroyDixon (10/5): - The host was very helpful and accommodating; he assisted us with transport and our request for a heater. The property is tucked away just outside the main tourist area, so it is quiet, yet accessible. Great location!
- Rohit (10/5): Nice hotel - Location, comfortable, friendly staff Stairs
- Steven (9/5): - Good room
Nice balcony
Amazing view Hard to find
120 steps from road to hotel
- Suhas (10/5): Kushal was a very hospitable staff and was super helpful -
- DWIVEDI (9/5): -
- Jose Manuel (10/5): Best place to stay in Daramshala - Perfect location, close to the best spots in Dharamshala. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the staff is incredibly friendly — especially Ashvin, who was always there to help with anything I needed and even arranged a reliable taxi for me. The hotel is in a very peaceful area, and I felt a deep sense of calm every day. I loved the view from my terrace, where I could watch the Himalayan mountains at sunrise every morning. I’ll definitely choose the same hotel when I come back to Dharamshala. No complains.
- Kenneth (8/5): - View and quiet Access to town requires a climb up a lot of steps, although alternatively you can go down less steps and then up round by road
- Shourya (8/5): - The staff, the cleanliness & amenities Parking is not comfortable.
- Michael (10/5): -
- Jeevan (8/5): Great stay in Dharamshala - great value, comfort and views! - We booked the “three bed apartment” which is actually just three separate rooms, each with its own en-suite, on the same room, which was quite funny.
Amazing value for three separate room!
Each room was clean and comfortable and each room had a balcony with an amazing view! The location isn’t ideal - to get to the main road, you have to climb a massive set of stairs which is a bit exhausting (but also great exercise!) If you’re not fit, don’t stay here
- Mélissandre (9/5): - Location, welcoming staff, good value for money!
- María (8/5): Mountain views, cozy room and a daily stair workout - I stayed 10 days at this hotel. The room is cozy, comfortable and with beautiful views of the mountains. The mattress is a little bit hard but very big and I got good sleep. There’s also hot water (although it doesn’t last long, but it’s enough), a sofa and a table. The private terrace is also comfortable and very peaceful early in the mornings. Kushal and the other guy who works here are very kind and always helped me with everything. You have to climb a lot of stairs every day, it’s part of the experience 😉 I enjoyed my stay and would recommend this hotel. Just in case you’re searching for silence: there’s a new building construction going on right in front, and sometimes it was very noisy. That was a problem for me because I’m sensitive to noise and prefer silent places. Of course, it’s not the hotel’s fault and the construction will end someday. Sometimes at night, there was also music and noise (from drunk people) coming from the Zostel next door. I think it’s difficult to find a silent stay in McLeod, you have to go up the mountain for that.
- Petr (10/5): - A quiet place, but not far from the center. Very cozy room, nice view from the balcony and great stuff. A little bit harder to find it, but the locals will help you.
- Eduardo (10/5): - I had a wonderful stay at the Bougainvillea in Mcleodganj. The hostel is well located, tidy and neat. The staff were incredibly welcoming, thoughtful, and kind. They really made me feel at home. The rooftop is a highlight, offering stunning views of the mountains and valley. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Dharamshala.and surroundings.
- Katarzyna (10/5): -
- Bernard (8/5): - Great view, central location , clean room No breakie
- Nikhil (10/5): -
- luis Emanuel (10/5): - El personal muy amable. Buen atención
- Birjit (10/5): - The owner was very friendly.... Best location at mcleodganj
- Stefanie (8/5): -
- jose manuel (10/5): -
- Arun (7/5): Good -
- Siddharth (8/5): Awesome stay - The view from the balcony
The cleanliness The matress hardness
- Rahul (10/5): Exceptional -
- Srini (10/5): Amazing location and Hospitality. - The location was amazing, right in the middle of everything. The HOSTS were amazing and so helpful. They arranged all the taxis, gave us information on the happenings in the area etc. Amazing location and Hospitality. Made our stay more welcoming. It was a place what we thought will be.
- Patricia (10/5): Exceptional - Great hotel with epic views and beautiful, cozy rooms. Very clean and I felt I could stay all day in the room and balcony. The staff was helpful and friendly helped me with my luggage up and down the stairs. Without luggage you can reach restaurants and everything very fast. The food was great and they are able to make vegan and Jain meals. The area is quiet only the hostel next door has some music in the evenings and a bit of construction from a hotel down the hill. The manager was helpful but not so friendly. In other places I have felt more welcome from management.
- Piyush (1/5): Bad - I didn't like a single thing. I didn't like the location there especially those stairs..Landlord told me it is 5 minutes walking distance from the mall road but didn't tell me it has 200 stairs.. If you want to go to Mall Road or go out to eat something, you have to climb up and down 200 stairs every time.. that is not right at all..At the time of booking, the landlord should be informed that there are stairs to reach the hotel..There is no service available in the hotel after 9 pm..Anyone who wants to visit this hotel in future should check it carefully..
- Sonia (10/5): Comfortable and relaxing - This hotels location is fantastic just a short walk from the main square and shops,c cafe's and everything you need on your door step. The staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms view of mountain tops and colourful houses in the hillside. To access this hotel you do need to go down staircase but has a handrail. Didn't bother us much on our trip but good to know.
- David (9/5): Superb -
- Misha (8/5): Very good - Great location and the view, helpful staff. Relatively new and clean hotel. TV with Android. Not very comfortable bed. Poor soundproofing, take earplugs with you.
- Shwetank (10/5): Exceptional - The staff was cooperative and polite. We had requested for early check in and they confirmed our check-in time in advance and the room was ready when we arrived.
- Kaiya (8/5): Very good -
- Marcel (8/5): Nice location - Close to center I don’t know
- Ilya (8/5): Good price/quality ratio - Stunning view from the balcony. A spacious common room, separate from the dormitory bedroom The locks of the storage boxes were broken. The hostel is on the top floor by stairs
- Tarun (9/5): Superb -
- Koreel (5/5): Passable - Location was good, but the room quality and cleanliness were a sub-par.
- Vipul (10/5): Exceptional -
- Beruta (7/5): Stay here for the view. - The view from our bedroom window was breathtaking & worth the hike up and down. The room was spacious & clean. It provided a nice warm shower if you were willing to wait. Wifi was stable. Quality of sheets could be improved.
- Christa (10/5): Perfect in every way - If I could give this hotel a higher rating I would. It was superb! By far my nicest hotel in India during a 6 week trip.
I had a late check-in (22:30) and the staff was there waiting to help me with my suitcase. They even made me a late room service order.
It ticked all the boxes for me. Friendly and helpful staff, great location, clean and newly done room, nice bathroom facilities, little balcony with amazing view, it's quiet, rooftop restaurant and a water filter to fill your water bottle. I couldn't get enough of the view!
There are lots of stairs to climb up to the shops and restaurants but this wasn't an issue for me. It's only a 5min climb and then you're in the bustle of Mcloidganj. I would 100% come stay here again. It was a perfect 🤩 Nothing.
- Paultrademark (8/5): Good hotel - Good location, but be aware of a large amount of steps both from up and down the stairs to the property. Bed not too comfy.
Light coming in from window above balcony door, no curtain
- Uddi91 (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely little property with nice views and good value.
- Brian (9/5): Nice hotel and I will come back - Staff are friendly and helpful. Location is quiet and also central. 15 minute walk to Dalai Lama palace. Lots of stairs to and from the property. But this keep it quiet from the traffic .
- Emma (10/5): Incredible value for money - The view was amazing, room was so spacious & they even provided a heater
- Kylie (6/5): Beautiful view but be ready to hike to the hotel - The staff are friendly and helpful, they organised us a taxi to the airport on our final day. The room was clean and the view from the balcony was very nice and relaxing. Filtered water was provided in big bottles outside the rooms for easy refilling. The reception is not 24 hours as we found out when we arrived at 4:30am and had to wait until 7am before someone woke up. I read about the steps to the hotel on the reviews but was not prepared for the sheer number of them. There are so many stairs, it's ridiculous and difficult to get to the hotel with wheeled luggage. We were out of breath every time we left the hotel.
No heating provided and it was very cold at night, the hot water did not last very long at all.
The wooden door to the bathroom was very wonky and difficult to close properly.
I like a firm bed but the bed was so firm it was hard to be comfortable and sleep.
- Gorasiya (10/5): Exceptional - Property is very close to main square, and the location omg amazing I extended my stay here amazing
- Tushit (9/5): Superb -
- Anne (6/5): Could be better - Freezing in the room! Heaters should have been provided for the time l was there (cold nights of 6 degrees)
Also check in was written to be from 12, but already 8 was the staff banging on my dorm door that l as a solo female traveller locked from the inside for the night and my already disrupted sleep because of the cold was ruined.
- Arvind (9/5): Superb -
- Mom's (10/5): Exceptional - view , food and service
- Victoria (8/5): Very good - Great location, very close to main restaurants and markets. Room was spacious and clean with a beautiful view of the mountains from the balcony.
- Robin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Baerbel (6/5): Pleasant -
- Rob (6/5): Pleasant - We are travelling for 7 months and reviewing every place we have stayed. The view is great but sadly other than that could not recommend Have to be honest, wad very disappointed. Firstly not an issue for me but they don't warn people of all the steep steps down to the place. If anyone had mobility issues or had luggage they couldn't carry on their back, it would be a real problem every day.
Secondly the staff weren't very friendly when we arrived. It seemed more of a chore for them to check in people.
The shower half the time would never get hot despite switching on the hot power button for 30 mins before
Lastly the bed was very hard but appreciate this is common in Asia but do wish it was more comfortable
- Kannan (8/5): Very good -
- Sheik (10/5): Beautiful and peaceful - Mountain View and good people Safety, peaceful, and calm cleaning comfortable, good workers
- Abhishek (10/5): Had a great time. - Amazing view, great food by the Chef on demand, neat and clean rooms Everything was good
- Shashank (10/5): Nice hotel helpful staff - Staff was helpful.. rooms were clean
- Timothy (9/5): Superb - Highly recommended. Nice rooms, great views, and helpful and friendly staff.
- Tejas (9/5): Superb -
- Rahul (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sujal (10/5): Exceptional -
- Thokchom (8/5): Very good - Location was perfect! Was not at the middle of the market.Walkable distance of 5 min..The view from the room was perfect. Roof top cafeteria has the best view. Being a lil distance from the main market I like the quietness of the area. Nothing specific
- Ornella (8/5): Comfortable room with great views - The location is great. The room is comfortable, it’s well equipped, has everything you need. The attention of the personal was kind. The view from the bedroom to the mountains is great. The bathroom and the sheets were not very clean. I found some spiders in my room
- Shakti (8/5): Very good - Nice breathtaking view from the balcony! No cleaning for 5 nights... Not comfortable beds.
120 steps every time to go out to the road but it's good training :)
- Laura (10/5): Warm, relaxing and comfy - Very central
Big, bright spacious rooms
Amazing balcony with great views of the valley
Hot water
Free water
Kind and sweet staff Not accessible for disabled people- a few stairs to get to the property
