Guest Reviews
- Deborah (10/5): - Property owner was very helpful when I messaged. Nothing was a problem. The location was beautiful and quiet too.
- Rebecca (8/5): - The caravan has probably the best spot in the park being right on the edge and overlooking Knockdolian hill. It is quiet and there are lots of bunnies! It is bright and fairly spacious considering how many beds there are.
Beds were fairly comfy and well laundered. Living room area had lots of space.
There was a gorgeous view from the outside table and the living room and kitchen windows.
Shower was hot and powerful - unexpected in a van. Heaters worked well and the fire was very easy to use on cold mornings.
Location is decent but only if you have a car. There is a small Co-op a 5 minute drive away and a large Asda about 40 minutes up the coast. The whole coastline is stunning.
Communication from the host was excellent with videos, photos and messages making it clear how to get in and out. This was invaluable, especially as we had a couple of people knock on our door asking for directions - it's not a well laid-out park!
The park itself has a pool and bar but the pool has to be booked and the bar is only open weekends at the moment. We didn't use either as our days were busy and full and our kids went to bed after dinner because they were tired out. It's a little run down as a park but pretty for what it is, and it was everything we expected and needed.
Very good value for money - we were very happy with what we got for what we paid. The caravan had a plug-in air freshener that was very strong. We unplugged it but it took two days for the smell to go away. I was worried it was covering something up but it wasn't.
There were knives, plates, cups, glasses, cutlery and basic pans but no measuring jug or baking trays, or a spatula so we had to buy those from Asda. We did leave the tray and jug behind, though, for anyone visiting after us.
The living room cushions could do with a clean, and there are no lamps at all so it's either the big light or nothing! Though one light has an adjustable bulb so you can adjust the brightness in the living area.
One heater was very loud but thankfully we didn't need it past bedtime.
All very benign complaints, though, and wouldn't stop us from visiting again.

- Guest (8/5): My family and I had a fantastic stay here, caravan was very clean and we had everything we needed, perfect location in t - The caravan was great, it had what you needed.
Very clean and well presented. Double bed could have done with 2 pillows each.
- Claire (4/5): Beautiful view from the veranda, very disappointed about the caravan. - Location was great. Owner had made some effort with cleaning products and toiletries, WiFi and Netflix Was contacted day after booking to say the caravan we had booked was not available so we were being given a larger van for the weekend. We arrived and found a tiny caravan. Freezing shower even after turning temp up. Inadequate heating in bedrooms. Mornings were brutally cold!
Completely sheer curtains in living room and double bedroom, no privacy and with BST now and the sun rising at 5am it was frustrating. No side lamps. Squashed bugs on ceilings and blinds. Tiny! the bedroom door handles kept getting tangled on each other it was so small and the toilets were incredibly uncomfortable and cramped. Dated, definitely needs a do over especially living area. No kitchen plug or washing up bowl. Mattresses so soft and lumpy. We are all exhausted having had barely any sleep. Rusty bikes and beer cans down the back of the veranda. For what we usually get for the price it wasn't a great deal.
- Roohallah (9/5): The kids really enjoyed their stay - The location was really nice surrounded by hills and plenty of kettle around The mattresses were very uncomfortable
- Susan (9/5): Superb -
- Amanda (9/5): Very clean. Beautiful location, especially for wildlife. - The location was stunning Initial problems with the telly but this was quickly rectified by the host
- Trina (10/5): Very relaxing great views and the little bunnies running around were a total hit with my 3yr old gr - It was clean..comfortable..the views were stunning
- Kelly (8/5): Very good -
- Gordon (9/5): Very good. - Spacious, convenient and clean. It was great.
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional - Location was good, friendly people surrounding the place. Host went above and beyond to keep in touch during our stay. The Bar wasn't open all throughout the week, which was a tad annoying.
- Khan (9/5): Superb - The location was very good and the view was very good. Kids enjoyed the play area and swimming pool.
The rooms were cozy. The accommodation had most of the facilities. There was no iron.
- Peter (8/5): Pleasant - Living room roomy, clean an convenient Bedrooms 2and3 definitely only suitable for young children
- Martin (9/5): Excellent stay ….. kitchen sink needs a plug :-) -
- Darran (7/5): Good - Decent caravan accommodation at a good price.
- Jonathan (7/5): Good - Comfortable for the one night we stayed. Not really anything to do in the area. Play park quite dilapidated.
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Abby (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely property, very clean and easy to find. No staff were about but through email they gave us great directions. Lovely view. There was a power cut.
- Nikki (6/5): Pros and Cons - The caravan was clean and well equipped. The location is good if you have a car and can travel to the beach on a nice day or see the sights such as Ailsa Craig and Girvin etc. Lots of good views from caravan decking with lots of rabbits. Leafy surroundings. The caravan was dated and carpets need cleaned - there was a musty smell in rooms. No mattress protectors on beds which i find unhygienic. There are absolutely no facilities surrounding the caravan. So it is very disappointing that the description of this caravan mentions a private pool, pub and snack bar. They are there but all closed and have been for several months apparently.
- K_guntripp (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bickerstaff (10/5): Exceptional - Just what we needed for a short stay Nothing all good
- Brett (9/5): Superb -
- Neil (5/5): Good location, friendly and helpful staff, great views. - I required easy access to a nearby Hotel to collect guests and take them for day tours of the area and ultimately to Edinburgh. This was ideal.
The accommodation was good and well presented with comfortable sitting room, dining table and kitchen area. Very good crockery, and cooking pans with cleaning materials available. Hot water very good and the shower was excellent. I do not like giving negative feedback, particularly since it was caused by the unseasonal cold weather for the 2 nights I stayed. It would have helped if there was an "Information Pack" on "How to" use the cooker and the Wifi, figured it out but may not have been easy for some others.
Unfortunately the Central Heating could not be switched on. I asked reception for help and Robert came up but like me could only lift a wooden board in front of the boiler which has a control panel with flashing 0000's it also looked as though some dial knobs had been removed. Similarly with the electric fire in the sitting room a dial had been removed.
It was freezing and very difficult to sleep despite putting jackets and clothing on top of the duvet. I did not want to take duvets from the other beds which were well prepared. Maybe I should have done?
Add to this a dog in the next door holiday home that constantly barked from early morning and I assume through the day and certainly well into the evening.
I can understand that you would want try to control excess energy use but perhaps it would help if you checked the daily temperature and allowed the boiler to be run for some comfort. I hope this is of help for you and your future guests.
- Stewart (5/5): Disappointing - Nice clean van Shower was broken and vert obviously so
No restaurant No Pub on site as stated in the advert
- Sharon (7/5): Good if you enjoy walking and drive... Otherwise Avoid - We loved the 4 mile round trip to the nearest bus stop and shop. It's a truly beautiful part of the Country. The van was okay. Phew that the wi fi worked. No staff, no welcome, everything closed. I don't drive and we were very isolated.
- Graeme (9/5): Superb -
- Scot (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sheila (10/5): No Laggin’ Behind at ‘J S Laggan’ ! - All amenities here. Site had a nice pub and restaurant. Even has a pool. Chalet lovely. Owners very helpful. Evenings great for bunny-watching, owls hooting!! Starry skies with a bottle of wine 🍷 There was nothing to dislike !
- Sharon (7/5): Beautiful..... - Gorgeous part of the world. Didn't see anyone from the Park... Not a soul.
If you have a car and would rather not interact with people... this is a perfect get away.
- Alan (8/5): Very good -
- John (9/5): Superb -
- Jonathan (7/5): Nice place to stop over. - Everything except the electrics and heating The gas central heating did not work and the electrics kept tripping. It was very cold.
- Alison (8/5): Very good - The country park was lovely - lots of nice walks and beautiful scenery
The caravan we stayed in was clean, comfortable and everything we needed for a few days The swimming pool was closed, which was a bit of an inconvenience with 4 small boys to amuse, but they still had fun in the playpark and just running around on their scooters
- Marta (10/5): Extremely happy. Did not expect to be such a nice place - Amazing location. in the middle of the forest All was great
- Angela (9/5): Superb - Lovely location, sire was very picturess.
- Dunbar (10/5): An overnight stay - Clean. Had everything you needed & more!!
Nice view.
Host allowed us early access as we were attending a wedding. THANKS 🥰 No complaints
- Mark (8/5): Very good -
- Lorna (8/5): Beautiful rural area with lovely woodlands - Absolutely lovely caravan in lovely site. Park is lovely and lots of woodlands around. Couldn't get heating on and it was a bit cold.
- Beryl (10/5): Exceptional - All of it
- Scot (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent place to stay.
- Pati0110 (10/5): Exceptional - Great place, quiet, caravan very clean. I recommend
- Karen (7/5): Was only a very short stay. Location beautiful but disappointed with site facilities. Especially things for the kids - The caravan itself was lovely no issues with that. Caravan park could do with major refurb. Kids were disappointed pool not open, nowhere on site open to eat, needed to do some laundry as we had been travelling for a couple of days but someone else had the key so unable to use laundry facilities. Kids play park could also do with an update and some lighting. This would be a fabulous caravan park if a few things were updated.
- Jackie (7/5): Peaceful, comfortable and relaxing with beautiful views but disappointed with available facilities. - The caravan was perfect for our needs, was clean and beautiful surroundings. The lack of an extractor fan above the cooker meant we had to open the door when cooking on the hob or the smoke alarm went off. We couldn’t get the fire to work - even to just have a light in the background at nights. Perhaps some small lamps would be beneficial.
A heads up that all facilities on site were unavailable would have been good. Having chosen this site because it had a pool, restaurant, bar and arcade to find everything was closed was extremely disappointing especially with having kids with me. Thankfully we had brought food with us as there was no large supermarket nearby. The local Scotmid was fine for emergencies but had limited choice on product ranges.
- Anonymous (4/5): Great location, poor accomodation. - Great location, good view Carpet smelling bad, mattresses worn out - can feel the springs on half of the bed available. Missing basics for an accomodation with kitchen such as coffee, sugar or tea!
- Mcewan (8/5): Very good - Lovely quiet place with plenty of wildlife. One of my kids has adhd and loved the rabbits and ducks in the pond. Lovely surroundings 😁 The pool was closed during our visit which was one of my main reasons for booking with 3 young boys. I feel like this should be updated on booking.com as it doesn't say.
The play park can be doing with a bit of upgrading
- Barry (10/5): Exceptional - Nice area plenty of walks for dog plus meals, and bar was handy also
- Sylvia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ranvells (9/5): Superb -
- Anne (8/5): Very good - The area was lovely, the caravan was clean and tidy and had a good verandah. I felt that there should have been a leaflet explaining how everything worked and possibly brochures for visitors to the area. I was sent photos with arrows to direct me to caravan, but still got lost, it was not mentioned in the message what area we would be in, another caravaner helped us. We had to hunt for the plugs for the fridge/freezer, microwave and cooker. Also the dials on the cooker were not very clear, and I felt it was very dangerous to have the plates and bowls in the cupboard above the cooker. We were informed on the day of arrival that the pool was still closed for maintenance . We were not informed that the restaurant on the property would not be open until 5th May, found this out when we went for a walk about the area.
- Fiona (10/5): Exceptional -
- Caroline (6/5): Pleasant -
- Ray (6/5): We loved our stay at Lagganhouse, unfortunately lacked basic cooking utensils like can opener, whisk - Location was good, saw a lot of wildlife.Park was quiet and people were friendly. We were very disappointed that we could not book the swimming pool,as we were told that they could not afford to heat pool.also there was no on site grocery store, had to go to Ballantrae or Girvan.the on site restaurant was also closed,so had to go to ballantrae or Girvan for a cooked meal.
- Douglas (10/5): Lovely stay with the kids in rural south ayrshire -
- Lauren (8/5): Very good - Lovely site, caravan well decorated with all necessary facilities. Site quiet but that was due to the time of year but looks like lots to do in summer. There were a lot of flies in the caravan. Not sure if they were coming through the vents on floor?
- Warriner (10/5): Exceptional - Caravan was lovely and clean and welcoming. Nicely presented and lovely and warm even in winter Facilities closed due to winter which l hadn't realised, but it didn't matter as the walking was great which l had gone for
- Ross (7/5): Good -
- John (10/5): Exceptional - Warm comfortable and clean Silly really but the door opened out and the decking gate opened in making it awkward when you first arrive to bring luggage in
- Sylwia (10/5): Magic place - fantastic place to relax. Silence peace. Magic place. Greenery, mountains, rabbits and forests. Perfectly clean caravan with many amenities. Indoor pool, restaurant. You can have a coffee on the terrace in the morning looking at the mountains. I recommend. I will come back there for sure.
