Guest Reviews
- OSAMA (10/5): -
- Anthony (7/5): -
- Lorraine (7/5): Cosy cottage in heart of Newborough.. - Great location for Newborough forest and coastline...can be accessed on doot, or short drive to car parking areas. The cottage is compact and cosy, as dimensions did indicate when booking, so just be aware space is limited with 2 adults and a dog..
- Joss (7/5): Good for a one night stay for one person - Location was great. Cottage very tiny - fine for one person, but would be a tight squeeze for two. It was nice and warm, and as a solo traveller, felt very safe. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was great.. It could have been a bit cleaner: there was some dust and debris on the floor, and the kitchen sink and hob weren't very clean. There was also nowhere to hang a coat so it ended up on the floor.
- Gail (9/5): Everything that was needed was there… wish it had been warmer to use the outside space too. - Perfect for a retreat getaway… so cute and cosy.
- James (10/5): -
- Julie (8/5): Enjoyable night away me and my 🐕🦺 cute little cottage - Cute little cottage for me and my 🐕🦺
Everything I needed and a little garden
Location is ideal Newborough beach/forest which is stunning.
Night away relaxing and beautiful walks on your door step Nothing it had everything I needed for a night away
- Rebekah (10/5): -
- Richard (9/5): A comfortable overnight stay, we would be happy to return again, Owner very helpful when we arrived for check in. - Very clean and welcoming. Good quality of fittings and bedding. We would have welcomed somewhere to hang clothes, and struggled with the TV aerial and reception. Ideally should be fixed in a position where the signal works for the stations, but we managed in the end.
- Bates (6/5): Very nice but suitable for single occupancy only - Great location and parking facilities. The property was well maintained and very appealing. The front garden was spacious and well presented. Nice shower/toilet, all very clean. Extremely small and cramped for two guests. The water was warm in the shower but barely warm in the kitchen taps and bathroom sink (despite clicking the hot water switch on and off several times). The property had no ventilation except in the bathroom therefore very damp in the morning and excessive condensation on rucksacks-stored on the floor/under bed as no hanging space.
- Rhiannon (10/5): Perfect find - Beautiful cottage, cant wait to come here in 2026 Whats not to like?
- Sarah (8/5): -
- Anita (10/5): - Ideal location. Well appointed and perfect for a solo traveller
- Catherine (8/5): It is good value for money and central to Newborough. - The property was extremely clean and had everything I needed for an overnight stay. It is very small. I think 2 people would struggle with the amount of space. The access was via a key safe which was attached to a gate. I couldn’t open this until I knelt on the path in order to see the numbers. Not easy for a 70+ woman with a knee replacement!
- James (9/5): - Property is in great condition, in lovely grounds and loved the little garden terrace No complaints
- Chris (10/5): Superb experience throughout! - Was exactly what we wanted for our child free mini break together. We wanted somewhere cute and quirky and this is exactly what is was. Great little cottage, superb parking, superb location and has everything you need. Very clean and modern and amazing communication from the owners throughout!
THANK YOU! I know there is usually always room for some constructive criticism, but honestly we couldn't fault it. Was exactly what we wanted for this trip and will definitely return again in the future.
- Joy (7/5): - Cuteness of the place, modern features, location, comfy bed, shower No welcome gift/hamper as said on website so was abit disappointed. Only criticisms are there was significant dust on mirror in bathroom i had to wipe off and a lot of built up dust on the extractor fan which wasn't pleasant to look at. No coffee at all but tea and milk. Other than those things we enjoyed our stay
- Marsland (10/5): - Lovely little cottage in an ideal location. Everything you need for a getaway to relax Nothing
- David (10/5): Cosy cottage - Cosy cottage in a great location.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Was spotlessly clean, very modern and compact. Almost as close as you can get to the ocean in that location. Would stay again if in the vicinity so thank you.
- Luke (10/5): -
- Lucy (10/5): A beautiful little cottage in the heart of Anglesey! - The area is close to many places like newborough forest.
Although small it is a fantastic base and as we went during the heatwave, we just stayed outside or ventured to the pub 5 mins walk away!
I also really liked the communication from the owners, always prompt and the list of check out instructions was very handy! Absolutely nothing, it was perfect!
- Steph (9/5): -
- Sheila (8/5): Lovely cottage, great location. Very small and a bit too expensive. - Once I found the correct lockbox, getting the key was easy. It wasn't clear where the lockbox was at first, so I started by trying the wrong lockbox and couldn't get it open.
- Liz (3/5): It was hugely disappointing over priced & unfriendly - This was advertised as small so no surprises but its minute. The only advantage we could name is onsite parking The room is way too small, we had issues with the cleanliness and even the towels were too small - we are not big people
One of the most negative issues was after we booked & paid - we literally just needed somewhere to stay as we were joining friends for a birthday celebration we got a long list of charges for various things you were expected to do like wash & dry dishes strip bedding. Well we always do this we are respectful travelers but to be threatened with on costs was not positive and had we not paid and been the day before we would have cancelled. Alas on our arrival as stated there were issues inc not having any bin lining in the bins which had rubbish in them. There was a tissue amongst the dust under the bed which i found when looking for the none existent laundry basket for the bedding. There was no tea towel to dry dishes. Apart from the long list if duties and cost if u didn’t complete them & the keycode we had NO contact by a human despite our issues pretty poor id say
- Christine (10/5): Quirky - Absolute amazing conversion from what a local told us used to be a wash house. I read all the reviews before we went and Euriona has acted on them all. It's a great location with beach and forest nearby and just enough local amenieties with a pub, fish and chip shop, shop and tapas place. It was nice to sit outside too watching the sparrows nesting, and the horses and cows in the field close by. I don't want to say anything negative, but the bed was a little uncomfortable.
- Helen (10/5): Parkrun tourist, solo traveller - Perfect for myself as was close to the Parkrun I was running on Saturday morning. It was easy to find and had everything I needed. All was good.
- Gary (8/5): Very good - It was clean and comfortable loved the big garden behind property as we was travelling with our dog 🙂 Also the location was good Newborough beach is fantastic 👌
- Nigel (7/5): Good - Very clean and modern A little to small. If the weather is bad not a lot of space no microwave. And very tight space
- Lewis (8/5): Very good - Location was close to the coast with enough local amenities for a weekend trip. The property was a perfect size for us whilst we were out for most of the day.
- Angela (9/5): The owners were fabulous when I told them I had two dogs rather than one they accepted both rather than have me cancel a - It was clean comfortable and modern. It had everything we needed. Obviously the cottage was small as we knew but it would be nice if there was more hanging space although I’m not sure where that would be. Also we didn’t have recycling bins which was difficult
- Rensbubble (8/5): Perfect - Comfortable little camping pods perfect for one night away with the dog and next to some gorgeous local landmarks and nature
- Lauren (8/5): Very good - Great! Bit tight if there were 2 people staying but as a solo traveller it worked. Great location and lovely and clean!
- Alison (6/5): This would be a nice place to stay in the summer. - The location was very pleasant, in a village near to woodland and a couple of miles from the coast.
The accommodation was very sweet.. tastefully decorated and well equipped with good quality fittings and and appliances etc. The accommodation is extremely small. There is just one main room with a double bed, and tiny kitchen. There is nowhere to sit apart from on the bed or outside where there is a small table and a couple of chairs…. Fine in warm weather.
Also there is only one heavily frosted window so no view to the outside.
At the time of year we were there, it was difficult to find anywhere nearby to eat.
- Josh (10/5): Perfect get away. - Perfect quick couple get away! Plenty room for parking and the room was perfect. Locals super friendly.
- Emily (6/5): Pleasant - Location is good with outdoor space that would be nice in the summer. Bathroom is well designed. Bedding had paint stains on it like it had recently been used for DIY. Bed was quite creaky.
Cooking anything immediately sets off the fire alarm due to the alarms close proximity to hob and with no alternative ventilation apart from opening the door/window. Cooking anything is a bit impractical. Overall the accommodation is overpriced.
- Graham (1/5): Read ALL of the print - Th fact it was only two hours to get home Everything. Ridiculously small, nowhere to sit other than the bed. The bed creaked with the slightest movement. Terrible towels. Dust everywhere. Radiator badly marked. Cracked ceilings and walls. If you are going to sell something that is so small, for that money, then it has to be perfect. Sadly not even close. Need to offer tea and coffee. (I don't mean £50 for breakfast pack). To top it off the chip shop closed at 8pm and the pub resembled the old wild west. Sadly unable to offer any praise as only stayed an hour and went home
- Julie (1/5): Would not stay again - A cute place at a good location, was enough a one night stay. We contacted the owner to request an earlier arrival time to which she agreed, although she did not ask what exact time we needed. On the day of our arrival we did not receive the key code so I messaged to try and get it. This message was not read so we headed there anyway. I called once we arrived to which we were told there was a problem with the key safe and she would be there in an hour. She did in fact meet us 10 minutes later and proceeded to open the key safe herself and hand us the key. We asked for the code and she did not want to let us have it. At one point she led us to a different property but we told her we booked the small cottage, to which she apologised and said she had 2 booking with the same name. We checked as the other people arrived at the same time: completely different name. We felt she was vetting us in order to stay there as she mentioned that there had been awful guests, some she had to turn away. In fact as we were there she moved onto the site, as if to keep an eye on things.
There was no hamper as described, just tea bags and coffee. The bed was somewhat uncomfortable and lumpy. The frying pan was unusable as there was rust where the non stick coating had gone. The cutlery in the drawer was dirty. There are a few sharp screws on the posts outside the property (for a washing line perhaps) that my husband caught his trousers on. There are fines in place if you don’t strip the bed afterwards, wash, dry and put pots away (no drying up cloth), and remove rubbish.
When we raised issues with the owner she would not listen to us, told us as much and walked away.
This could be a gem of a place if there was more communication, a little more trust and a non-lying host who is willing to listen to her guests.
- Sunil (10/5): Lovely place - Excellent location and very cosy. Nothing
- Tracy (8/5): Was perfect for us for one night - Convenient for the ferry Nothing all good
- Berni (7/5): Great location and host - The location was great! The cottages and walk ways all look stunning!!
Friendly staff/host! We had a problem and she sorted it and also let us stay longer the next day due to the high winds which was really very nice, thank you. The White Lion pub just down the road was really friendly too. When we arrived it did smell like stale cigarette smoke we had no bin liners or hand wash etc (which was later sorted as stated above) The bed mattress is awful, very lumpy and not good for the hips and back.
- Thomas (8/5): Very good -
- Karen (8/5): Very good -
- Sarah (6/5): Cute but very small cottage - The cottage was very cute and characterful. It was decorated nicely. It was much smaller than expected. We had a labrador and once she was lying on her bed on the floor there was no space to move. The TV didn't work and we contacted the owners but they never got back to us. The previous guests had mentioned the TV not working. The mattress was tired. There were hairs in the shower, again the previous guests had mentioned this. There was no storage or hooks for clothes. We only stayed one night, which was fine, but would have struggled with more.
- Caroline (6/5): Disappointing considering the price. - The decor was very nice throughout with large shower. It is located within easy reach of the forest, Halen Mon Salt and NT property Plas Newydd. Easy parking. The main issue with this property is the lack of storage and room due to it being extremely small. A number of pictures and ornaments could be replaced with hooks, shelves and a microwave. In particular, by the bed there is nowhere to put a phone or cup on either side. Whilst there was a small foldaway table under the bed it wasn’t really big enough for two people and having to perch on the edge of the bed whilst using it was impractical. A couple of lap trays would be easier. The mattress had a dip in the centre and the bed creaky. The bed covers were creased and obviously not ironed. TV reception hit and miss and most channels unwatchable. There were hairs on the dinner plates in the cupboard and hair on the shower floor and a dirty desert spoon in the drawer. The key safe was fiddly where it is located, in the dark and rain and low down.
- Hannah (8/5): Very good - Lovely little cottage, very small but functional and in a great location with parking and a lovely little terrace. Very nicely finished inside. No towels on arrival, but a quick text to the owner and I was sent instructions on where to find some towels elsewhere on site so this was sorted very quickly.
I’d read about a welcome hamper on the main website - there was tea and coffee in the cottage but nothing more. I’d taken my own supplies anyway, so no big issue.
Some sort of mechanical system (maybe heating/hot water?) in the cottage made quite a lot of noise during the night.
- Ruth (5/5): Beautiful scenery and beaches closeby, but Mermaid Cottage a disappointment. - A pretty cottage Whilst the cottage was nicely decorated, it was just far too small! It was raining and so we couldn't eat outside. As no table and chairs existed within the 'cottage' as there was simply no room to accommodate them, we had to bring the outside table and chairs inside and that was a struggle! Consequently, it was one heck of a squeeze and made the whole experience unpleasant. As a self-catering accommodation, space is far too limited for both storage and cooking. A challenge!. Thank goodness we are organised people!
The charge of £120 was far too much.
- S (9/5): Comfortable and in a great location. - Small but very well appointed and comfortable. Great location. Could do with some hooks to hang coats etc other than in the bathroom. Otherwise great. I knew it was small when I booked but had all I needed for myself and my small dog.
- Jolita (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ciaran (10/5): very relaxing and enjoyable stay in the cottage - very cozy and great location everything was perfect nothing wrong
- Karen (10/5): Just perfect! - Loved it all! Comfy bed, great shower, beautiful decor and really cosy little pod! Welcoming host too. The location is fab, not far from Newborough Forest - we walked over to Llanddwyn for sunset and it was incredible! Was just me and the dog staying - might be a bit cramped for any more but perfect for us! Nothing!
- Rebecca (10/5): Amazing stay - Had the loveliest of time! Cute little cottage, perfect for myself and son! Amazing hosts, will definitely be back again next year.
- Terrie (6/5): Okay, a bit disappointing and very hard to find. However the pub and the pub food were delicious . - There was no breakfast My husband is 6’2 the property was much too small for us, especially someone over 6 feet. The bed was a bit lumpy.
- Dalton-thor (8/5): Very good -
- Jones (9/5): Superb -
- Lee (9/5): Superb -
- Mary (5/5): Go only if you can’t find anywhere better. - 1 mile from a lovely forest and beach walk.
Own entrance and small outside area.
Friendly staff. Was advertised as 15m2 but is not near this. There is a double bed, space to walk in the front door, up to the sink, and into the shower room. Dog friendly, which was good, but I do not recommend anyone to take a pet there, even small as it is so cramped.
No hot water from the bathroom tap.
Luke warm water in shower.
No bin bags but we had to take out all rubbish.
No tea/coffee or anything like that at all.
Very expensive for what is offered.
- Georgia (7/5): Really enjoyed the parts of north wales we got to visit and location of the cottage, cleaning before use of shower and l - Location was fantastic, small but suitable for two! Had to clean the shower tray when before we used it, lots of marks on the walls, cobwebs and lots of dust.
- Stephen (10/5): Lovely cosy cottage ideal for a couple looking for peace and quiet, easily accessible and in a great location - Really great place to stay, the way it has been designed is a credit to the owners with everything being available should you choose to have a dine in break which on this occasion we didn’t as we were on the island for a foodie break, the only downside of our visit was that the weather wasn’t great so we were unable to take advantage of the well presented private outside area. We had the opportunity to view the larger White Horse cottage which is stunning and would recommend either property Nothing at all about the property, wished we could have stayed longer
- Lynne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gary (9/5): Superb - Lovely well finished cottage. It's very small but for a short trip it's fine. Outside is a pleasant seating area which is great in this sunny weather.
- Mark (8/5): Very good -
- Williams (7/5): Good - The location was nice, and the owner was super friendly and informative on where to visit and things to do. The property was off high standards, loved the garden and outside areas to walk the dogs. Will go back. The accommodation was small therefore struggled abit with space.
- Karen (8/5): Very good - The location was perfect.
The accommodation was very compact, but ample for a 1 night stay. It was all perfect for our needs.
- Julie (10/5): Small and compact but had everything you needed - Everything Nothing
- Mark (9/5): Superb -
- Ian (7/5): Pleasant -
- Trudie (10/5): Quaint, cosy and absolutely perfect! - Euriona was in touch throughout the day to make sure we'd gained access and everything was ok.
- Sion (9/5): Superb -
- Leanne (10/5): Perfect for a couple to relax ☺️ - White mermaid cottage has everything you need for a relaxing stay. It is spotlessly clean and is well equipped. The parking is safe. Owners are easily contactable. WiFi is fab. Shower is lovey. All round is such a lovely place to stay as a couple. Maybe could have an extra mirror for when the bathroom one steams up.
If you were staying longer a drawer or long box under the bed would be useful for shoes, clothes etc.
A peg outside the shower for dressing gowns as our coats were hung on the door hook.
- Jacqueline (8/5): Mermaid cottage cosy - The decor was charming, there were adequate facilities, there was plenty of parking, the host was friendly and helpful. It felt small for two people for a longer stay and I had to camber onto the bed to reach the cabinets overhead for clothing.
- Kerry (9/5): Perfect little cottage for a romantic break - Very modern and clean, super cosy and comfortable, I loved the decor and the little garden Was smaller than expected but that’s not a negative it’s so cosy and cute we personally loved it !!
- Martin (6/5): Pleasant -
- Katie (8/5): Short stay only - The location is excellent, just off the main road through Newborough and not far from the car park for llanddwyn.
The bed was comfy.
It was nice to have the enclosed courtyard.
The decor of the space is modern. There were a few bits of cleaning which were overmissed such as the toothbrush holder and no bin bag in the bathroom bin and no other bin.
The remote for the tv didn’t work properly.
A few basics ie washing up liquid which I would’ve expected to have been provided weren’t.
- Stephen (8/5): Very good -
- Emma (8/5): Very good -
- Anonymous (10/5): Perfect little getaway - Very small but quaint and very well designed. Perfect for visiting newborough.
- Ashley (7/5): Good -
- Ann (10/5): Exceptional - A delightful, cosy cottage located near the stunning Newborough Beach and Ynys Llanddwyn. Excellent use of space in the cottage, providing a comfy double bed, shower room and compact, but well equipped kitchen. Lovely, helpful, friendly owners.
- Betsan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Diane (1/5): The cottage is very small you can’t walk round the bed you need for one person to get up for the other to get out of bed - The location was good and good parking See comments below after writing our comments we were not able to read them suspect there is not enough room in the comments space .
Very disappointed and left after making a cup of tea
- Jenna (10/5): Comfy, cute, cosy and a great base to explore sandy south Anglesey - The cutest little place to stay. Small but super comfy and had everything I needed. I loved the decor, everything has been done to a high quality and I appreciated the links back to Welsh heritage and folklore. I didn’t know there wasn’t an oven! But that’s my bad for not checking!
- Michaela (10/5): Incredible. Catching up on places after 45 years. - Spotless, perfect location for seeing all of Anglesey, local services brilliant, shops, beautiful location and so warm and comfy. Nice and quiet. Slept soundly. A little more space, but it had everything we needed.
- Andrew (9/5): Great location, only stayed one night, would stay here again - Great location, very clean , smaller than anticipated, but fine for a short stay tele hard to get a picture, indoor aerial not really up to it.
- David (8/5): Compact and bijou: small but very comfortable. - The cottage is very cozy and comfortable, and has almost everything you need - but no scissors or corkscrew! It's located in a beautiful place with lots to do on the doorstep. It's pretty quiet and peaceful and the owners leave you alone. The photographs advertising the property are a bit deceptive - unintentionally so of course. It was a lot smaller than I imagined. But once I got over the initial shock of the dimensions, it was perfectly fine and very comfortable. The bed is great and so is the shower!
- Susan (10/5): Exceptional - Location was great for me and my dog excellent beach close by .Little cottage with everything you need including a bottle of wine and gorgeous welsh cakes .Lovely hosts will definitely stay again
- Simon (10/5): Ideal for a couple of nights. - Tiny cottage but very well done, it was lovely. Newborough beach is just down the road and is excellent.
- John (6/5): We had a great time especially when the sun came out :) - The location was nice and quiet, very close to a lovely woodland walk and 5-10 min drive down to the coast and beach walk. The bathroom was very modern with good shower pressure and heat. The cottage was a little small so there was no where to sit inside, perhaps a small conservatory could be added one day. I felt a microwave would have been more use than the two cooking rings. It would be good for the owners to stay there a couple of nights to see where improvements can be made.
- Claire (9/5): Superb -
- Wayne (7/5): Good -
- Richard (9/5): Lovely host good spot for exploring Newbourgh Warren forest and beaches also the Red Squirrels - Everything spotless and well thought out for a small place Could do with a small shelf above the bed for phones etc
- Danielle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Thomas (10/5): We had a few mechanical issues getting there but for the time we had loved every second very good - I just recently got a double bed memory foam comforter for under your protector on your mattress from Argos for £70 that would make the bed perfect and a nice sign matching the schemefor the entrance (girlfriends idea) but best place I have stayed in ages can’t wait to come back 👍🏼
- Caroline (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful location. Beautiful cottage. Loveley surprise of a bottle of wine and some Welsh cakes. Patio area also very pretty with its lights and comfy furniture. Bathroom clean and a bigger than expected shower. TV had Netflix as well. Brill We struggled to find the location, rang the number and answered straight away by a very nice lady with directions. Key lock number didn't work, again text message sorted that out. We didn't expect the cottage to be as compact as it was but saying that it totally worked and was absolutely fine. We would go back again
- Lindsay (4/5): We did not stay. - It was self catering.
Location was fine.
Had been converted to a high standard. It was tiny,We knew it was small but we felt for us it was far too small. The only place to eat inside was sitting on the bed.
One small window.A picture shown on their own website showed a corner bed settee which would have given an area to stand in or put a small circular table to eat. This had been replaced by a double bed as the bed settee apparently when put up was uncomfortable. The washing up sink was next to the pillow. The place was ideal for a b and b but in our opinion not to self cater.
- Julie (10/5): Thoroughly enjoyed my stay and the beautiful local walks with my dog. - It is very small but was perfect for me and my pooch. Comfortable bed, beautiful decor/finish, good sized and attractive private outside space, off road free parking alongside. Clearly, a lot of thought and attention to detail put in by owners. Nothing.
- Muhammad (10/5): Excellent - Small and cozy x Nothing
- Carl (10/5): Newborough mini break - The cottage was a really nice, clean & quirky place, a great location to explore newborough beach & llandwyn island. Nothing I didn't like.
- Paula (8/5): Good fun and great to have time to ourselves - Great location. A real tiny house experience Would have preferred a memory foam mattress as much more supportive
- Courtney (8/5): Very good -
