Guest Reviews
- Anne (9/5): Absolutely stunning location. A unique property. - An absolutely stunning location. Although the cottages are simple, they are well-priced, clean and provide everything you need. Be sure to explore the beautiful rock formation within view by sea kayak (offered through Sea Kayak Naxos). The hosts were charming and sweet and provided us with fresh bread and flowers from their garden.
- Rahaf (10/5): Beautiful, cosy cottages surrounded by stunning nature, made special by Astrid and Niko❤️ - Everything was perfect and exactly as described. We stayed for around a month in the cottage, and Home Azalas Traditional Cottages is truly a special place for anyone who wants to slow down and relax.
The cottages are beautiful, full of thoughtful details, and you can feel how much care and love has gone into creating them. It’s incredibly peaceful. We had some of the best sleep we’ve had in a long time. The quiet, the sound of the waves, and cosy evenings by the fireplace made it easy to feel completely rejuvenated.
Astrid and Niko are extraordinary hosts ❤️ Kind, generous, and genuinely welcoming. From the moment we arrived, they went above and beyond to make us feel at home. Their warmth made our stay even more memorable, and we truly felt like part of their family.
The surroundings are incredible: a beautiful beach nearby with crystalclear waters, a charming chapel, and plenty of other beaches within reach. Dramatic mountain and coastal views, hidden bays and riverbeds, and peaceful walks start right from the cottages. As someone who loves cats, it felt like a little paradise, with friendly felines wandering around and keeping us company. Every sunrise and sunset, from soft pink mornings to golden evenings, is unforgettable. The nature here is raw, calming, and grounding.
Highly recommended, and we can’t wait to visit again ❤️

- Kurt (10/5): We travel a lot each year and this was one of our very favorite places. Our hosts were so friendly and generous. We abso - The location is spectacular. There’s a great fireplace. We enjoyed the terrace, which faces the sea. The WiFi was quite good. The cottage had everything we needed for cooking. The shower was great and the water is potable. The road is a bit rough, but very drivable. Nothing
- Julie (10/5): A perfect place for those who love nature and tranquility The closest village is Moutsana. It is 20 minutes in a rocky - Amazing views across the sea to Amorgos. A beautiful swimming bay minutes from our cottage overlooked by a very small church. The cottage was spacious and we were very comfortable. We liked everything
- francesca (10/5): - Astrid e Nikos have been kind and supportive.
Their family is wonderful and everybody has been friendly with us. They also invited us to join Astrid Bday's cake. It was a big pleasure do it.
Nikos has build all the cottages by himself through the years and all the Azalas corner smells of family traditions and love.
The beach is close at 100mt, so quite and lovely. Moutsouna is 20min far from the closest village but we found there everything needed to live some days without going out.
I suggest to buy foods before go to leave free this detoxing experience out of noise and into nature. There are also two cute and friendly dogs that wait for being cuddled by hosts.
We left there a piece of our heart and we really would have stay some days more.
Super suggested!
- Jennifer (9/5): If you want to stay put, disconnect and enjoy it's nature this is your spot - Great house. Fun idea. Buy everything you could possibly want and get away. Wifi good. Very cute design. Great to relax. Read. Enjoy the view for sure. Location. It's super windy in this area. Hard to enjoy basically private beach area. Bed is hard. Location is so tough to get too. No real roads, like on a map. Definitely not paved and bumpy and dusty. So it's a guess when to turn and loop around when you are wrong. And to get out and climb all the mountains to get anywhere is exhausting. Minimum 1 hour each way up and down 1 lane tight and curvy roads. Don't recommend the drive at night.
- Michal (10/5): - Peace and quiet!
- Steve (9/5): A piece of heaven on Earth! Enjoyed watching and hearing the sea from the cottage patio. - Our cottage was amazing! The best part was how quiet and relaxing the area is. Astrid and her husband were incredible hosts. They gifted us homemade wine, fresh warm bread and organic vegetables from their garden. The little beach is a 30 second walk from the cottage door. An amazing place to slow down and relax!
- Enrico (10/5): A corner of paradise on the beautiful island of Naxos - The owners were very kind, Astrid brought us vegetables to eat and condiments. She was very helpful during our entire stay. We would also like to thank you very much here and invite travellers to choose this accommodation, it is a true paradise on the island of Naxos. The coast where the accommodation is located is the least frequented by tourism For this reason it is also worth stopping at some of the beaches on this side of the island. There are some places where you can stop and take a dip even just a stone's throw from the accommodation. Finally, the wine produced by Astrid and her husband is exceptional! Thank you and enjoy your life!
- Steve (10/5): I would stay again - The location was beautiful. The facilities were obviously built with love and care. Nothing
- Claire (9/5): A fabulous place that we would recommend highly. - It was a lovely cottage with a stunning view. The peace of the area and cottage was very special.
Astrid gave us lots of lovely vegetables from her garden and there was also bread and wine for us when we arrived. The wind. It was very strong for our first 3 days though it dropped on the 4th. It did make swimming tough. The 3km track to the cottage was very bumpy and we were worried about our little hire car but it was ok!
- Steve (10/5): I would gladly go back. A relaxing and low pressure place to stay away from any hustle and bustle. - The location was stunning. The cottages showed loving care and pride. I like hard mattresses. These were too hard.
- Dana (10/5): We enjoyed our stay very much! If you are looking for calm holidays at the sea, this is the place to be. - Calm location, great access to the sea, wonderful hosts making our stay special. Thank you! All was good.
- Hanna (10/5): Stunning property in a relaxing, beautiful, & peaceful location - We had a very peaceful and relaxing stay. The hosts were very helpful and gracious. They surprised us with homemade wine and daily treats from the garden - some of the best figs I’ve had! The sunrise view from the property and the starry skies at night are not to be missed. Off the beaten path for sure, but worth it! Nearby there is a small beach and a few small coves for swimming…and the drive down to panormos beach we did was fun and worth it also. Moutsouna is not far off if you want to eat out, but the cottages are well equipped with everything you’d need to cook. I wish I could have stayed longer! I left feeling 100% content and rejuvenated. My kids loved the stay as well - especially the ping pong table and hammocks!
- William (10/5): The most peaceful and private stay in the beautifully constructed stone cottages on the water. - Astrid and Nikos were the most wonderful hosts, offering us fresh homemade bread, wine and homegrown fruit & vegetables upon arrival. The setting that Astrid and Nikos have created with their stone cottages is like nothing we have experienced before. The location is private and secluded with several spots to swim and a beautiful outlook across the island and the water beyond. The perfect spot for a relaxing getaway. We were there during the Meltemi winds and this did nothing to dampen our stay. There is a protected beach to swim at no matter what direction the wind is blowing. We felt so welcomed for our stay and were immediately at peace in the quiet and beauty of Azales, we will definitely be returning again in the future.
- Smiates (10/5): Exceptional property in a fantastic location - This is an exceptional property in a fantastic location. On the quieter side of the island and off the beaten trail. The hosts are delightful, very generous and helpful without ever being intrusive. The views from the property are gorgeous, the stone work is amazing and the facilities excellent. The property was spotlessly clean. Great bed and powerful shower with constant supply of hot water. There is air-conditioning and fans. The local water is potable, the fridge cold and freezer space available. Astrid and Nikos supply very generous amounts of vegetables, wine and bread which gave the stay a unique and special feeling. The local beach is a stones through away and there are plenty of others most quiet and deserted. The mini market in the next village has most things and if you wait for the bus to arrive around midday there is a good selection of fresh fruit. The village has some very good tavernas with excellent food available including fresh fish. A truely great place to stay. Nothing. The website for the property is detailed and accurate. Read it! This is not for everyone, perfect though it is. The road to the property is unmade 2.5km long and rough. The property is on the other side of the island to the port and the mountains need to be traversed, hairpins et al and wonderful views. There are no touristy activities locally, no discos, no shops, no passing cruise ships/yachts. It's delightful. Highly recommended.
- Frits (10/5): The most welcoming experience with a stunning view! - Visiting Greece for the first time, the experience could have not been more welcoming. If you are looking for a comfortable and quiet stay, away from the buzz. Look no further! Astrid takes great care of her place and her guests.
We were often supplied with fresh vegetables from the garden and were daily delighted with new insights about and recommendations for Naxos. If you’re not feeling like travelling around the island, there are some beautiful hidden beaches right in front of the property.
We hope to visit this place again and will recommend it not only here but also back home. Thanks Astrid!
- Perry (10/5): We loved it. - Lovely location, comfortable room, welcoming host, great stay.
- Manon (10/5): a little piece of paradise - The cottage was beautiful, clean and with all the amenities. It's secluded so the location is great for calm and quietness, perfect to enjoy the nature and the sea. Astrid and Nikos are so friendly and caring, they're the best hosts!
- Neil (9/5): Superb - Astrid was very helpful, showed us a very hidden beach and baked some wonderful bread loaves. This is a fabulously remote part of the island. A little cold on a windy night. Needs a duvet rather than blankets.
