Guest Reviews
- Frances (8/5): -
- NIGEL (9/5): Excellent. - Superb apartment, good location in a beautiful village. Parking near the property is difficult but that’s to be expected. Car parks aren’t too far away.
- Tejas (10/5): Fantastic cottage in Shaldon, highly recommended. - It was very cosy, comfortable and well-equipped. Also very well located in Shaldon - just a few minutes’ walk from the beach, shops and restaurants, Nothing!
- Barry/Tracy (10/5): - The Captains Cabin is the perfect getaway place to stay for two, everything has been thought out to the very last detail, the bed is the most comfortable, ever, under floor heating throughout, fully fitted out kitchen, lovely electric fire in living room, big screen TV etc. The Captain's Cabin is also in a perfect location, although parking can be a problem. Parking the car.
- Lee (10/5): Lovely 4 night stay. - We have stayed in numerous properties around Shaldon, and this one was one of our favourites, the property was very clean on arrival and the bottle of fizz and chocolates were a lovely touch. Communication with Eve and Mike was brilliant, always responding quickly and very accommodating to our check-in and out requests. Overall a 10/10 stay, thank you Eve and Mike, we shall be returning in 2026! That we had to come home.
- Myra (10/5): A very enjoyable, relaxing stay, so much so that we will return. - The Apartment was very tastefully furnished, spotlessly clean, the bed was very comfortable and had beautiful bedding. The Apartment was equipped with everything that you need to make your stay easy and enjoyable. The information book provided by the Hosts was very comprehensive covering absolutely everthing and was so useful, as too was the guide to the street parking rules and regulations. The location is superb, and having the Bakery, Butchers, the village stores and the local fish and chip shop, as well as so many eating places close by made life very easy.
- Andrew (9/5): A quiet and relaxing break in Devon - The accommodation was well presented and included everything needed for a pleasant self catering short break.
The location allowed for access to local facilities, enjoyable walks/countryside and public transport links to explore the surrounding area. Seeking out free parking locally was not straight forward. We did find a suitable space 3 or 4 minutes walk away, but the narrow roads are challenging to the uninitiated. We abandoned the car for the duration of our stay, which suited us.
- Gianvito (7/5): -
- Alyson (10/5): Perfect getaway in an idyllic area. - It was a beautiful studio. Nothing the owners are in charge of. The parking was a bit of a pain but we knew going in there was limited spaces. The pay per stay carpark was always available.
- Georgie (10/5): 100% recommended for stress free and luxurious stay. - Modern, fresh and spotlessly clean inside, hidden behind a picturesque cottage exterior. Everything you could need for your stay, including a very comfortable bed!
- Dana (10/5): Will come again - Just as described. Clean, lovely apartment and great location Nothing
- Terry (10/5): Captains Cabin - Well laid out with everything you need and within walking distance of town or public transport close by. Parking can be difficult outside but there is a public car park 5 minutes walk away.
- Jane (9/5): Lovely holiday apartment ! - Pretty much everything! A really lovely little apartment a short walk to the sea. It had all the space and facilities we needed for our stay in this idyllic little village. Beautifully designed and finished throughout. Hosts have gone to a lot of trouble to make sure this is a comfy bolt hole by the sea. We found the bedroom and bathroom a little cold. Our hosts responded quickly to try and remedy this for us during our stay. We think the patio area needs a tidy and refresh to make it a more inviting place to sit.
- Jade (10/5): Excellent, cosy stay! -
- Michaela (8/5): Very pleasant - Cosy
- Jill (10/5): Brilliant!! - The property was very clean and modern. The upkeep of the property was excellent.
- Tony (9/5): Superb -
- Debbie (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely apartment, very clean, quiet and close to all amenities. Nothing
- Michelle (10/5): Relaxing, comfortable, bliss!! - The location is excellent - lovely to be able to park and walk no driving! Everything was perfect.
- O'dwyer (9/5): Superb -
- Lynn (8/5): Lovley area, apartment had all we needed, will visit again. - Location was good, easy to travel to other towns. Car parking is a bit of an issue, but we were very lucky and parking map was very helpful.
- Karen (8/5): Very good - Beautifully presented , fully equiped Parking is a definite issue.Nor suitable for anyone with mobility issues. Settee too low.Little bit dark, both couldn't read or both in bed. Television needs updating
- Adrian (10/5): Lovely break, easy bus and train access, lovely property. - Great location in a lovely village.
- Jason (9/5): Superb - The apartment, was great, everthing, you needed, the courtyard was a nice little touch, the hosts were very helpful. Definitely go back...
Shaldon what alittle gem.... To tell the truth there wasn't much we didn't like, parking is a little limited weekends ,but your got to expect that in a small fishing village, but not a problem, as the hosts kindly provided us with parking maps...
- Ken (9/5): Superb - Very comfortable, good location The parking
- Elaine (8/5): Perfect few days in Devon, the sun shone, we relaxed and had a great time. - Fantastic location in the heart of the village close to the river, the green, shops, pubs and cafes. Obviously this is a very small village with limited parking and only an hour's duration. This suited me as I put the car into the large car park up the hill and thoroughly enjoyed the walk up there each morning to put a new ticket on (it does have the facility to do it on the internet but it was an app I didn't have!). However if you have mobility problems, it could be an issue to stay where parking is difficult.
- Steve (7/5): Good -
- Karen (9/5): Superb -
- Mark (8/5): A very peaceful and relaxing little village. Lovely botanical garden. Very good coffee at Lollie B. - The cooker and kitchen facilities were excellent and the bed was very comfortable. It would have been helpful to know about the parking situation in Shaldon eg that there is very little free parking and it is most likely one will pay the very reasonable rate at Ness car park (which is what we did).
- Nicola (9/5): Superb -
- Peter (10/5): Very enjoyable stay. Accommodation was very well equipped. - Parking in road for 1 hr not always a space nearby to load and unload the car.
- Leah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mary (10/5): We really enjoyed our stay-it was perfect for our needs, visiting our family in Shaldon for the Christmas period. Many t - Great location in Shaldon, very comfortable, stylish and good facilities. We liked the fact it was all on one level. The welcome pack of Prosecco and chocolates was very much appreciated -thank-you! Nothing
- Caroline (9/5): Cosy cabin - The Captain's Cabin, was nice & cosy. Had a nice relaxing stay here. Shame about the parking, had to park up the hill round the back!
- Marie (8/5): Very good - Lovely little apartment, near centre of village. Big comfortable bed, slept like a log.
- Sandra (8/5): Nice break - Lovely apartment. In a good position for visiting Shaldon. Parking . Booking .com need to bring to the attention of guests that it is on street parking with all roads congested with cars.
- Leo (8/5): One bedroom apartment - Beautifully presented apartment with everything you could want or need. Spacious, comfortable and very clean. Responsive host. There was NO PARKING!
Our stay was marred by the fact that there was no parking.
(Also, although the beach was not too far away, we wouldn't have called it "beachside".)
- Lisaoxford (9/5): Superb - Loved the private covered courtyard, super comfortable sofa, kitchen facilities, appliance manuals, waterfall and handheld showers, and proximity to the river estuary/sea-front. Shaldon is a lovely place to stay with shops and cafes (and pubs if that's what you're looking for). I can highly recommend this property for travellers like me - without a car! Like many apartments, you're a bit at the mercy of whoever is staying above you. Small children naturally run and jump around indoors. Adults aren't necessarily aware how sound travels. I was lucky with a change of occupancy after my first evening.
- Susanne (9/5): Superb -
- David (10/5): Great property and friendly and helpful owners meant that we had an excellent short break - lovely property beautifully presented
In the heart of the village and a short walk from the beach
Perfect Instructions for the cooker would have been useful
- Victoria (7/5): It was a relaxing stay. Village central. Just what was required. - The location was excellent. Lovely cosy apartment, with everything that we needed. Very quiet area. Lovely touch to be gifted a bottle of Prosecco and chocolates. Thank you. The door between kitchen and bedroom didn’t close, due to warping.
The courtyard needed attention; could do with sweeping patio, removing cobwebs and flowers tending to.
The loo brush was totally gross, needs bleaching! Couldn’t find any scissors in apartment.
And the tv could be updated.
- Gouldthorpe (10/5): Exceptional - The apartment was superb, what a lovely place. Parking not great , you can park outside the property if you can find a space but only for an hour although we did find parking a couple of roads away.
- Micksmate (8/5): Great location. Comfy bed. Nice bathroom. - The location Parking can be a problem
- Gillian (10/5): Perfect short break in a perfect apartment - It was beautifully done. Very well designed and thought out. Had everything you needed Nothing it was all very good
- Howard (10/5): Exceptional - All was excellent Parking limited locally but car park 10 mins walk away and reasonably priced
- Jcrp20 (6/5): Pleasant -
- Elizabeth (10/5): Perfect - Excellent location, spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated. Had everything you needed for a perfect stay. Have booked again for another stay
- Sarah (9/5): Enjoyable - The parking was an issue one night, had to drive round looking for a space
- Christopher (10/5): A comfy cosy apartment in an excellent location. - A bright light well maintained property in an excellent location. Very clean and comfortable. Highly recommend. Nothing.
- Jenny (8/5): Just stunning area. Great location! - well equipped and cosy. Everything you needed Very comfortable Parking not great. we did drive around a lot to find parking
- Kevin (9/5): Great apartment in lovely location - lovely place, well equipped, clean, comfortable and well laid out. Nice touches, like flowers, wine and chocolate on arrival. All of the ‘equipment’ was good quality and in excellent condition. couldn’t fault the apartment in any way. owner replied to text queries very quickly, which was a great help. Location is great, Shaldon itself is lovely, short ferry ride to Teignmouth, short drive to Torquay and surrounding area. Parking. Shaldon is full of narrow streets with limited parking places, the owner provided an excellent map, showing all parking areas, which was a big help, plus there are two large P&Display car parks. 1 hour parking outside the apartment is good for loading/unloading. We always managed to park but did have to search out spaces some distance from the apartment and engage in some tricky manoeuvring at times, this was in march. Can’t see anyway of improving this, if you love Shaldon you must put up with the parking.
- Jane (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rob (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely cosy cottage
- Patricia (10/5): Outstanding - Perfect location, close to beach and amenities. Super apartment, spotlessly clean, well equipped and very comfortable bed. Lovely surprise of welcome gift. Would certainly recommend to others and hopefully return in the near future.
- Joanne (8/5): Very good - Very comfortable apartment in great location. Had all the facilities you could want. The temperature of the central heating was set too low (16C) and I kept having to boost it.
- Karen (10/5): Comfy Apartment for Two - Apartment was so cozy. Spotlessly clean and well equipped. Comfy bed and essentials supplied together with very nice welcome gift whuch was very much appreciated. Location was great, just one street off sea front and very close to bridge for Teignmouth. Nothing
- Jane (9/5): Superb -
- Brenda (10/5): Peaceful comfy friendly village lovely food and the scenery was lovely - Location was beautiful. Lovely little village No complaints
- Neil (9/5): A great location for a Devonshire break ! Would definitely recommend. - tastefully modernised with all essentials provided nothing really
- Melody (9/5): we loved our stay in Shaldon at the captains cabin beautiful location with lots of facile - location and layout were really good and the gift was very thoughtful map for parking was not very clear maybe written directions would help along with diagram
