• Clinton (10/5): Wonderfully relaxing tranquil hotel - A beautiful hotel at the far end of Tamarindo beach. The hotel is an oasis of tranquility where we felt very secluded with our own patio and pool and a few yards from the spectacular beach. The pool and staff were amazing and the choice of breakfast very good (especially the omelettes which were perfect!). The gardens were very relaxing and for activities the hotel arranged everything including body boarding, surfboard and kayak hire. We had a ground floor room on the seafront with jacuzzi. It was pricey but what an amazing location. Nothing bad to say about the beautiful room

Alquilamos el departamento de 4 habitaciones, el aire acondicionado no funcionó el primer día. Luego lo arreglaron rápidamente a penas dijismos. Pero recomendaría recibir a los Huéspedes con los aires prendidos, ya que con ese calor cuando uno está cansado de largo viaje solo Quiere llegar a un lugar frío y lamentablemente cuando llegamos todos los aires estaban apagados y el departamento caliente. Luego si funcionaron los aires. Aclarar en las fotos que no cuenta con cocina, ya que pensé que tenía porque parece que hay como una cocinita pero falta el aparato eléctrico. Quizá podrían ponerle, aunque el restaurante está muy bien y los precios son buenos.

The rooms are very private, spacious and cozy. My husband liked the bed but if you have an old back like me the bed was too soft. Comfortable but if sensitive may not be your jam. Would have liked a flatter pillow option and the King felt like a queen.

The pool and beach facilities were excellent, and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast was very good as were the cocktails. For the price of the lunch/dinner items, the food was only just satisfactory. We chose to eat up town after our first day.

Em 1 ano fomos 2 vezes, e pretendemos voltar em breve. Com certeza a melhor hospedagem na Costa Rica. Em nossas viagem de 45 dias pelo país, ficamos em 10 hotéis, e esse com certeza está entre os melhores do país, se duvidar da América Central.

• Christine (10/5): It was the most perfect, gorgeous location to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary. - It was immaculate and absolutely gorgeous landscaping and facilities. It really felt like paradise and the staff were so friendly and attentive. We didn’t wander very far because we were so happy to enjoy their grounds. The Costa Rican wood crafted throughout the rooms and to make the furniture was beautiful. The conscious effort to provide a haven for all the creatures of the area added delight to our stay. Monkeys, birds, iguana, property dogs and cats were added entertainment. Very relaxing and peaceful. We liked everything but would suggest some different menu selections day to day. A few specials each day, for instance. The food overall was very good.

F&B quality was very good overall. Hotel looks tired and with lack of investment. Rooms are comfortable but a bit old. Reception area is dark and lacks atmosphere. Breakfast offer is great, although the way is set-up/presented is not that nice. I had the feeling that floor around the bar area was never cleaned, as there was always food on the floor and full of ants. Same with the tables around the pool area, not properly cleaned and you could say traces of food and glasses, not properly cleaned, which attracted insects.

We had upstairs rooms with balconies- that were beautifully designed and a pleasure to come back to. The service was so friendly and every one made our stay a pleasure. The grounds, the pool and the location on the beach were perfect. I would have disliked staying in Tamarindo town as it is quite touresty and loud but we were far enough away to feel apart from it. Beautiful, spacious and very clean bungalow accommodation. Very friendly staff and excellent, reasonably-priced food in the restaurant. Can't think of anything.

It's impossible to justify the price. The breakfast is not very good, we had to ask housekeeping to come as the first day they were very late and overall it just doesn't justify the cost.

The hotel staff were outstanding throughout my stay, from the front desk to the restaurant and other areas of the property. The on-site restaurant served delicious food, and there were always chairs available by the pool and the beach. The hotel is located on the quieter end of Tamarindo beach, which was a nice change of pace. The Capitán Suizo Beachfront Boutique Hotel was a nice place, but it had a couple issues that made it slightly less than perfect. The pool was always full of pollen and leaves(it is surrounded by beautiful trees and they did clean it regularly but it seemed they never could catch up. Also, there were too many kids running around and screaming,.

The location in relation to Tamarindo town was great too - quiet and out of the way, whilst still being close to the amenities of the town. The grounds were also absolutely beautiful and clearly really well maintained. The service was as also wonderful - with all the staff being extremely friendly and hospitable. Parts of the hotel were quite tired. The furniture in the communal areas was worn and could have done with being updated. Usually such details wouldn’t be the end of the world, but when you’re paying very expensive rates for a room you do expect a certain level of luxury. The food at the restaurant at dinner was average at best and therefore we felt it was overpriced. We also struggled to get help from the front desk with the coffee machine when we couldn’t get it to work, which again was a little frustrating given the price paid for the room.
• Margaret (10/5): A VERY Special Hotel … HIGHLy recommend. - The staff at Capitan Suizo was just wonderful in every respect! Property is beautiful and beautifully maintained. Beach is private and quiet. Away from the craziness of Tamarindo, but close enough to visit it easily. Lots of fun activities and concierge service is excellent. We especially appreciated the ladies at the breakfast/lunch service … SO friendly and helpful. Thanks all, especially Natalia! Nothing. We would return in a heartbeat. Service in restaurant was a bit slow at dinner first night but it was busy and I think our waiter was still learning. Not really a complaint … we were very happy with everything.

The restaurant was so good that we decided to eat both our lunch and dinner there each day. The pool was beautiful and kept clean of flowers by the staff all throughout the day. And best of all, the staff was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely recommend this place to others!

• Cathy (10/5): Clean, luxurious feel in a beach town - If you want to stay in Tamarindo but something a little nicer and more of a resort feel, this is the place to go. Its at the end of the beach so away from the craziness of downtown but still a 10 minute walk or quick drive for going out at night. The hotel is so clean.

Food was good, but would like more variety at breakfast. The views and location are great. More variety at breakfast. Maybe more activities on the beach, but to be fair we did not try the yoga or spa. The pool is nice, but maybe could be refreshed in terms of the interior and or add a hot tub.

They have kept the beauty of the native surroundings in an area that is becoming very developed. The wild life still loves to frequent the resort because they are welcomed with fresh watering areas. We loved everything about the resort.

• Shara (10/5): A gem in playa Tamarindo - Excellent place to relax on the beautiful Tamarindo beach. The hotel offers excellent service and beautiful facilities, surrounded by gardens and nature. Within the hotel, you will see a variety of birds, monkeys, iguanas, and cats. Seeing monkeys was a special experience. Being on the beachfront, there's easy access to great surfing. In this paradise, you can enjoy nature at its peak. From the moment we arrived as a group, we felt at home. Breakfast is tasty, with wonderful cheese, delicious coffee, and various egg options. We also enjoyed the restaurant for several evenings and the food. The bar service has delicious cocktails and tasty pina colada. Our special thanks to the reception staff, Irwin, and Moises from the concierge service. This hotel is the best value in Tamarindo, so we would like to stay here again. We loved this hotel, we plan to come back.

The couch was probably very old. It was down in the middle and so uncomfortable. I woke up every morning with back pain. When I said this to the reception, they just said "oh, ok". That's how they deal with remarks from customer who spend 1300 $ for 3 nights... Breakfast was just correct, not as a standard of 4 stars hotel.

• Andreea (10/5): One of the best choices one can make in Costa Rica - The garden is absolutely delightful, it has the most exotic fruit trees, it's paradise! There are even cats, lots of them, beautiful and friendly, I would have stayed there for a month! :) It's the most peaceful place. And the rooms are, of course, very nice, very spatious, actually the size of an appartment, the bathroom as well. The staff is also great, they were very, very patient with us, even though we were a bit dizzy from the jet lag, had been switching accomodations every day for a few days, forgot stuff in our room at check-out, annoyed them with food that we needed refrigerated and so on. We couldn't even stand ourselves anymore :) Anyway - if we ever come back to that area, we'll be staying there, for sure.
• Eileen (9/5): Superb - Really nice location if you want to be walking distance to everything but still tucked away from the most touristy area. Beautiful beach in front with nobody on it. Can rent boards from hotel and surf in front if you are a beginner and want to learn. Staff was really nice and helpful. We had the beach front villa and it had such a lovely view of the ocean and monkeys and squirrels outside in the trees and another bungalow which was also super, window’s everywhere facing the lush gardens. Very serene and beautiful. Would recommend it to anyone who wants peace and quiet and not if you want to party and meet people. Costa Rica is quite expensive when you compare it to other places. They sure know what to charge for everything and often add VAT. It has become Americanized.
• Irene (9/5): Beautiful beachfront hotel in Tamarindo - Best section of the beach in Tamarindo, and the property and restaurant are beachfront. Short 10-15 minute walk to town, either via the beach or the sidewalk. Loved breakfast every morning overlooking the pacific ocean! Great staff and lovely grounds. Howler monkeys and a multitude of birds right on the property. Not the fault of the hotel, but we didn't realize it was so hot in Tamarindo - temperatures were in the 90s every day. The food costs were very reasonable, but the room cost was comparatively high.

• Luigi (10/5): 5 star rustic luxury in paradise - five star ocean front property at the quiet end of Tamarindo beach yet only a 10 min walk to town. pristine natural grounds and pool with tons of viewing opportunities of monkeys, iguanas, raccoons and the many resident cats. can’t say enough about how fabulous capitan Suizo is. hard squeaky bed in our terrace room. please buy tempurpedic mattresses and we’ll never leave!
