Guest Reviews
- Mark (1/5): Didn’t actually ever get in the building, and been waiting for a refund ever since due to the terms of the stay not bein - Hard to say as the key wasn’t available to pick up so we couldn’t get in The fact that the owner didn’t leave the key where he said, and when contacted put me on to his cleaner who didn’t have a clue what was going on.
- Marielle (6/5): - Great location, walking distanse to every thing. Beds very comfortable, tv in each bedroom. Every thing we needed in the kitchen and bathrooms. Tree good size bedrooms, likely the livingroom was trade for å bedroom since the seating in the apartment was around the table in the kitchen. A lot of small things broke in the apartment with is also mentioned in earlyer rewiews witch obiousely have not been fiksed. When we arrived the light in the hall did not work (pitch dark) and the fire alarm was beeping. Called the number provided and they were going to call mainenens. Nothing happened and in the end we had to go out and buy batterys and change ourselves, because it was not posible to be in the apartment with the noise. The lights were not fiksed during our stay. It was difficult to find the correct house and not wery welcoming in the entry were there was a big sign "No short term lets, no airbnb".
- Tom (5/5): Not great - No blinds on the bedroom window, no toilet roll
- Alex (1/5): Worst experience I have ever had - Firstly they said that there was parking. This is not true and you have to pay for parking a walk away from the property. You also have to pay £200 extra which they didn’t mention before over a deposit. You have to collect the keys from a dodgy shop that’s streets away.
The actual check in didn’t work and took over 2 hrs from the check in time to finally tell us that they had double booked. We were all stood in the street infront of the apartment that looks nothing like the photo for hrs just for them to say they have already given the apartment to someone else. They did not care at all and I’m still fighting for a refund. They don’t answer calls and no reply now.
I would highly recommend choosing somewhere else. We had to cancel the whole trip and go home because we had no where to stay
- Manu (10/5): -
- David (8/5): Pleasant stay - Location was amazing and the apartment suited our needs Towels were bleached stained.
Iron needs an upgrade to a steam iron
- Williamson (10/5): Excellent stay in Manchester - Clean, tidy and very modern. Perfect for a group stay Lift in the building was ‘overloaded’ with 6 people but obviously that isn’t the fault of the flat nor the hosts
- Simon (1/5): DEAR GOD THIS PLACE IS AWFUL. NEVER STAY HERE. - The price and location were fine but this was legend status bad. There was everything to look forward to. But it was a truly awful place. I found the toilets full of faeces, the most revolting smell throughout the apartment, unwashed dishes and rubbish in the kitchen bin. The state of the apartment was horrific. Faeces in the toilets and overpowering stench. The response from the management company was lacklustre and I am still awaiting a refund and compensation. The process has been pretty terrible
- Jennifer (1/5): -
- Leanne (1/5): Terrible - I’ve complained and not even had a response I should have had money refunded shocking stay
- MORTON (1/5): -
- tandin (7/5): Good place for a group of 6. We liked because of the location - Location About the key pick up. Did not expect i had to get key from a shop. It wasnt hectic but it was not convenient at all.
- Tammy (10/5): -
- Annabelle (10/5): Brilliant value for money and perfect location - At £25 a head for 6 of us you can’t go wrong. We stayed here for my graduation and it was brilliant value for money. It’s an old student accommodation in the centre of Manchester - brilliant for a night out.
It was clean. It had 3 comfortable double beds. The information provided in the check in instructions was easy enough to understand and we had no problems.
The staff were brilliant as we realised last minute we needed an early check in and they accommodated this and kept me updated.
I think the other reviews are very harsh and don’t be put off. I think previous reviewers complaining about the door locks would certainly be distraught if there were no locks and anybody on the street could get in. I would definitely book this apartment again for a night out in Manchester. Needs darker blinds
- Sara (9/5): Superb - Great central location and well equipped. A few little extras - could do with letting people
Know there’s limited loo roll, and no blind in one bedroom. And the other blinds could be darker.
- Mels80 (6/5): Great location- ok apartment - Great location and comfortable beds 3 sets of codes needed to get into the apartment. No toilet roll was provided. Only 3 towels were provided for 6 guests. Blind was missing from one bedroom. Showers were scalding hot or freezing cold.
- Caron (1/5): Crap - It's awful I want my money back.
The whole experience has put me off booking with booking.come ever again. The fact that the picture of the building is not the building at all it's a grim looking place - It's like a council building that has a multiple bus stops outside so you can't even stop to drop off and collect your cases. Let alone park as requested. We had to pay £40 to park 10 mins away.
We had to to biometrics facial recognition before you were given the address and £200 deposit before booking details were given and that only came through hours before arrival, so you couldn't cancel i guess when you realise your staying in Charlton House - Along with arrangements to collect keys from a very dodgy mini market around the corner that you couldn't get to due to the one way system and a 'tramp fight' broke out whilst I was in the shop.
We asked for a late check out and despite multiple messages saying they would get back to us it was only by chance I noticed they were gonna charge £50 for the extra hour we asked for without ever replying to the request.
The place is absolutely not luxury as described but an old multi-occupancy /student accommodation. There is no lounge or sofa. It explicitly says in the lobby that Airbnb or sub letting is strictly forbidden so we felt very uncomfortable being there at all!!! It was dreadful. And the lift was out of order. I would have had more luxury staying in Dell Boys flat. Completely spoilt a very special occasion with my family to celebrate my sons graduation.
I would like a full refund
- Rachel (1/5): Not very well organised - Didn’t get to stay there. Couldn’t find property then phoned them got put in a 2 bedroom instead of 3 for 4 of us. awaiting refund As above
- Esme (8/5): Very good -
- Phillipa (1/5): Nightmare - Nightmare didn’t get there We were all looking forward to our visit to the apartment in Manchester to celebrate my daughter‘s 16th and for them for them to go to the arena. The day before I was given the boarding pass to get into the Piccadilly Apartments. In that we found that there was no private parking that was stated on the original booking . This is a big concern to me as I am disabled. I cannot walk more than 2 meters without stopping in pain I also then learnt that we had to collect a key from a mini market. This mini market was only open to collect the key between 3 and 10 pm. I originally contacted the booking.com and the person controlling the apartment to say that we would be there later and that was no problem. The minimart was only open till 10 pm and I contacted them to say I could be later than 10 pm between 10 and 11 the reply was we just hope you get there in time, we didn’t get there in time and when we did see the minimart it was on a one-way street which we couldn’t get to, no parking and the area was not one that I could walk through nor was I going to let my girls walk through, it was bars, loud music, drunk people and loads of police. After driving round for a good 45 minutes I started to have a panic attack I had to try and find somewhere to pull in calm down wipe my tears and think what we’re doing. Being a single mum I have very little money and I had to rely on a friend to send some money so we could book in elsewhere. We are now in a holiday in which they were wonderful and if I can just say that the receptionist was so kind when I arrived in tears and you can imagine very upset I would like a full refund and I think that the people who run the apartment should change some of the details that are on their booking information because it was very complicated on how you get the key where the parking is how you get in, it was all misinformation and I only got the proper information when it was to click on a link Saying boarding pass.
- Fong (9/5): Loved it perfect weekend - Location, size, fantastic stay with the girls. Just the information about getting in… would be better if we had in advance or on the day not when we contacted or if it was given clearer. The details was very lengthy. But we got there in the end.
- Karen (5/5): We enjoyed our time together in Manchester but we wouldn’t choose to stay here again - Location was good and the three bedrooms meant all of our group got their own bed rather than a put me up. Shower temperature was either freezing or scalding, there was no variation.
One bedroom had no blind on the window.
Another bedroom had translucent blinds, one of which was hanging down, which served no purpose as they didn’t stop the light getting in.
There was a lot of noise coming from the bar below, not a problem I suppose if you’re there for the nightlife.
- Emily (6/5): Pleasant -
- Paul (10/5): Best so for - Relaxing TV in all bedrooms
- Nicholas (8/5): Very good - Central location in a lively, funky part of town.
The flat was very reasonably priced. It was clean and in good condition.
The landlord was quite cagey about giving out details of the flat and checkin, until quite late (for security reasons, he said; that's up to him), but it worked fine. Dont worry if you're en route and you still don't know the full address, it will come 😊. The flat was clean and equipped well for our one night stay. Not a lot. It was mostly fine.
- Keith (10/5): Fantastic would stay again - Perfect walk into town and ideal location
- Christine (1/5): SCAM - We paid £200 in advance, non refundable, for one night in a 3 bed apartment. We walked up and down Lever Street 3 times before the so called owner answered our messages. There was no building called Central Piccadilly Apartments. We were directed to a building called Charlesworth house which has a keypad. We asked for the number for the keypad and the number for the apartment. Whilst we waited for the reply several people were entering and leaving the building. A couple let us into the building, there was no signage for Central Piccadilly Apartments. After 20 minutes we received a message asking for more money. TOTAL SCAM!!!!!!!!!
We would like to thank Booking.com for being so helpful and for refunding our money
- Janet (1/5): Bad - Great location It is described as luxurious and elegant, this is a complete misrepresentation, it is dirty and dangerous and poorly equipped. There are extension cables plugged into extension cables. The door handle to one of the bedrooms is faulty and one of our party got trapped inside the bedroom, she couldn’t open the door to get out. The shower and shower curtain are dirty and covered in mould. They only provide one small bath towel per person, no hand towels or tea towels. The window blind was missing in one of the bedrooms, the bedside lamp cable didn’t reach the plug socket. There was only one wine glass, the rest of us were drinking wine out of tumblers. There were only 5 dinner plates for a sleep 6, though if you want to cook there were no saucepans, just a wok, two small frying pans and one baking tray. Breakfast was in shifts as there were only 4 spoons. We couldn’t hang anything in two of the wardrobes as one had a huge tub of paint in it and the other was stuffed with a duvet and numerous pillows.
I have complained to the owner/manager who has completely ignored me so I have taken it up with Booking.com. The staff are pleasant when you talk to them but each time I have been told they will take my complaint to the owner and get back to me, which they don’t.
I definitely wouldn’t stay there again and Booking.com won’t be my first choice either.
- Coulson (1/5): Very poor service. Instructions were adequate, however the smart lock did not work. - The smart lock on the door did not work. The owner didnt respond to 7 calls and 2 messages. However did respond when messaged that we had to find accomodation elsewhere. He replied with, 'well, it should work' which was not really helpful at all. Denied a refund because the apartment was made available. (Even though it was unaccessible)
- Emma (1/5): Bad - Window was broken in one of the bedrooms and was wide open so freezing cold and extremely noisy. No blind at broken window. Dirty wet towel in wardrobe. Bed head hanging off one of beds. TV'S didn't work. Bathrooms were dirty.
- Emilía (6/5): Pleasant -
- Helen (7/5): It was adequate for our 1 night visit - Well equipped and great to have essentials like shower gel, salt, pepper, washing up liquid etc Dated. Needs modernising
- Joanna (8/5): Very good -
- James (8/5): Great location, good communication from the host - Communication was great from the host, we knew early-on that the keys would need to be collected from a nearby location, and they were also flexible about a last minute guest that we added to the booking. N/a
- Sean (1/5): Bad - stole my holding security deposit,
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Christopher (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mel (6/5): Pleasant - Good location.
Secure building. WiFi wasn't working.
No Coffee machine.
Tiny kitchen and no sitting area.
- Rzegocka (1/5): Disgusting customer service - Nothing Could not get into the apartment due to issues with access, the owner was not helpful and has refused to issue a refund despite us not actually accessing the property and not being able to stay there due their own fault. I have waster £180 on an apartment we couldn't even stay at and now trying to get a refund but not getting anywhere with it. We had to book other accommodations, so our expenses doubled. The owner ignored out calls, texts and whatsapp messages and so we could not get any help on the matter.
- Amanraj (9/5): Excellent Apartment! Amazing Stay! - The Property was centrally situated to piccadilly gardens - a popular area with all the shops and eateries/ coffee shops/ supermarkets/ restaurants and retail shops less than 5 mins walk away - this was perfect for us as it meant we didn’t have to travel out too far
- The property felt very secure - as three girls we felt super comfortable and safe as there were a number of doors requiring a fob or codes to enter
- Another added plus is that we had a bedroom each, all of which came with a big flatscreen tv situated opposite the beds - we had access to all the streaming platforms - Netflix / Amazon Prime / Youtube / Iplayer/ ITVHub/ Disney - the master bedroom especially felt like we were in the cinema
- The apartment was well furnished, clean, and bright and had a cute little kitchenette tucked away - this was super helpful to us
All in all a fantastic property, perfect for a stay away with friends - and a stones throw away from all of the important and necessary amenities, we absolutely loved it! My only qualm about this property is that the communal area was not that big, we had a round dining table but it could’ve been made slightly better if a tv and some comfy seating e.g a sofa was provided but this didn’t bother us too much as we could lay or sit on our beds
- Mrs (5/5): Glad it was only for one night - It was central Having to pick keys up from a shop. Poor explanation in the message as to how to gain access to the property. Lamp beside the bed has no socket.
- Tilley (8/5): Great overnight stay, ideal for a small group who want to go out in Manchester for a night out. - Location and it was modern and clean. 2 bedrooms didn’t have black out curtains.
- Gareth (3/5): Stressful!!!! - Location Bedroom off the kitchen was locked, got in contact with a guy called David who promised to get it sorted, he messed me around until 3am, told me he had the key and would get it sorted I explained my daughter had medication in the room, he told me he was coming to unlock it, he didn’t, he told me he passed the key on to he the boyfriend or husband of the cleaner, the guy he sent has never met him, in the end he ended up breaking the door to the bedroom, this was at 10.30 the next morning, we had to share the other bed which had Hairs under the duvet on the sheet, no toilet roll, used toothbrushes in the bathroom, food left in fridge/freezer, overall it wasn’t value for what was paid, shame really I have pictures and screenshots of the conversations with the relavant people mentioned
Look forward to your response
- Georgia (8/5): Very good -
- Askew (9/5): Superb -
- Tracy (9/5): Perfect location, walking distance from train station and bars and restaurants in Northern Quarter. - Very easy to collect keys. Location of apartment was excellent. Very, very clean and tidy. Quite confusing with all the different codes to get in and a bit of a nightmare after a gig and a few drinks 😊😊 Only communal space was dining area by kitchen, no sort of lounge area. We were only there the one night and were out all night so not an issue for us but may be groups staying longer might miss that.
- Lynn (9/5): It was a good few days staying in the apartment - I liked the location of the property and also how easy it was to settle in The only thing we missed was a living area with a sofa so we could relax together and watch TV rather than go into our individual bedroom
