- Sweeney (10/5): I would stay at this property again. - The carriage house was clean and conveniently located. Emily was very responsive to any questions as far as check in/check out.
- Siena (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect little house in a great location!
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional - Everything. No entry code sent by owners. Had to call them. Inconvenient for travellors without free roaming on their phones!
- Christine (5/5): Given the many complaints I have, I’d not recommend and definitely would not stay there again. Size of space is good but - Location was nice.
We found out when we got there that we were NOT in the carriage house but in an ‘apartment’ space at the top of the house. The photo above is actually not where we stayed.
Porches were nice.
Owner was pleasant.
Kitchen was good.
Space was not bad but lots of less than good details.
I’m sorry to say I’d not recommend. Would have been nice to know we were not getting the carriage house but rather a third floor space, accessible by outdoor stairs - LOTS of steep metal stairs. Not too problematic just walking up and down but really difficult while carrying suitcases. Would be bad for anyone who has any difficulty with heights or many stairs.
No binder with the usual bits of information one needs to know. Had to ask for things and mostly gave up. We were out a fair amount.
Family seemed unclear about our exit date and son unlocked the door and came in days before exit date - it was uncomfortable. Also showed up on the deck which was for our use with the rental.
The entrance takes you directly into the bathroom. So if anyone is using the bathroom, no one else can come in (or should) or go out. Family has the lock code, of course, so it felt less than secure. We had no reason to distrust their behavior but it did not feel as secure or private as one would expect.
Before we arrived I indicated one of us would sleep on the couch. There were no sheets etc so had to ask - we arrived quite late from the East coast - had to text the owner before we could set up the couch bed. Couch not very clean.
Air conditioning in bedroom seemed un adjustable and room was too warm.
Had to ask for WiFi info. Found later it was on a sticky note in a cupboard.
Shower head was terrible. About half the water leaked down and the rest in a hard spray. Shower is a stall and very tight so it was a challenge to use.
Not enough toilet paper for a stay of more than a week.
No ice cube trays.
All in all it felt like the owners, while nice enough people, don’t really know how to do this (or it’s a very a secondary money making endeavor ) and hadn’t thought much about what guests would reasonably want or need / or don’t care enough - especially given the price. I felt badly because I’d wanted and expected a much nicer space for my daughter and I to visit my son, who we don’t get to see very often.
- Harrison (8/5): Would absolutely stay again in this charming space!! - What a great place! I was only there for two days but I was very comfy and I loved the neighborhood.
Plenty of towels and everything I needed. AC was great! The second night someone was parked in my space, but I managed to squeeze into a side space. The doggos that lived next door didn't seem thrilled with me, but after some baby talk from me, they went to their door to be let in. (they were super cute)
- Russo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marie (10/5): Walking distance to restaurants, stores and parks make this a great place to stay if you have no car - The area of town where it was located was close to grocery stores and parks. I had to contact the owner via text to get the lockbox code because it did not come to me automatically.
- Stephanie (5/5): Not clean and unrepresentative photos of other units. - The Carriage House is adorable. Beware, though, many of the photos in the listing are of other units. It was not clean/maintained. From moldy coffee grounds in the maker, to horribly stained and old pillow, to unclean dishes in the cupboards, dusty, at least 4 burned out light bulbs, and unwashed mirrors, even after reporting. As a Host/Partner myself, I know the importance of the need to ‘spring clean’ before each stay. Unfortunately, that did not happen here. It’s an adorable unit, though, with tons of potential.
- Lori (8/5): Very good -
- Susan (7/5): Good place overall. I would consider staying again in summertime. - I’d like to stay here again as it is right around the corner from my son and grandsons. The place was pretty clean and definitely quiet which is the two major concerns of mine so overall a good place for us. The bed was comfortable. I was not sent a code for the door and had to find a contact number for the manager. She did come right up to let us in. There was a cat in the apartment when the door opened but I’m not allergic so no worries. I did do some cleaning as there was some windowsill dust/dirt and the floors needed another going over which was unsightly but not major. Negotiating the outside metal stairs in the snow was a serious concern so I would not stay here in the winter. The curled edged carpets are a tripping hazard. It would be nice to have a broom to clean off the porch of tree pollen.
- Nathalia (9/5): Appreciate Denver’s winter weather in Historic Clarkson Street Casita - The Carriage House is in a convenient location with nearby stores/restaurants/attractions, and pet friendly neighborhood. We appreciated the use of the homes laundry facilities and supplied materials Booking listing was confusing at the time of booking (Jan ‘24) since it had grouped two listings but it has since been updated. Host is an excellent communicator.
- Globetrotter (10/5): Beautiful ambience in a great city. - Wonderful aura of history and comfort.
- Sara (10/5): Exceptional - Adorable house; great location in scenic neighborhood near park.
