Guest Reviews
- Jeanine (5/5): Matig verblijf - Dichtbij Bradford on Avon centrum.
Parkeren voor de deur Vieze kamer. Oude en Vieze vloerbedekking. Zwarte haren op banken.
Minimale keuken uitrusting.
Oude croissants en broodjes voor ontbijt.
Geen boter.
Vieze vetlucht uit de keuken beneden.
Afzuiger werkt niet
- Jill (9/5): Everything very good. - Wonderful suite, good service, excellent location. Nothing
- Jason (10/5): -
- Wendy (8/5): Really enjoyed our stay - lovely rooms, great location, brilliant staff and superb food. - Really friendly and professional staff when we arrived and throughout our stay. Lovely accommodation, really comfy bed and very spacious living/kitchen area. More than we needed for one night but lovely being so spacious.
We had drinks in the bar before our evening meal and that was lovely and cosy. We ate in the restaurant in the evening - the food was absolutely stunning! Would Highly recommend.
Located within easy reach of the town and had a lovely walk around Bradford on Avon. The floors in our room were extremely creaky but appreciate it's difficult to do anything about this in an old building. We were just concerned that it might have been noisy/annoying for anyone in a room below ours.
- Tim (8/5): - Resturant and food very good, staff very friendly.
Bradford upon Avon a lovelly little town full of history., well worth visting.. Stayed in the dog friendly room, slight smell of hound in the latter.. Not really an issue for us as we are dog lovers though we dont have one . If you are an owner of a larger breed the staircase are steep leading to room..
- Mike (10/5): - spacious suite with extensive continental breakfast in lounge area so able to have breakfast before getting ready
- Jo (8/5): Lovely place to stay .. nice city - Good location
- John (7/5): Generally happy, but a better shower and pillows would of been nice - Really lovely room with lounge area to sit in of an evening Very disappointed with the shower and the pillows on the bed
- Sandra (7/5): Beautiful Bradford-on-Avon - Great location. Comfortable rooms. Spacious lounge/kitchenette. Continental breakfast. Cooking smells waft up the stairwell.
- Tracey (9/5): -
- Phil (10/5): - We stayed in the Rosemary suite with bags of room. Quiet and very comfortable. We had a lovely time. Quirky features all around.
- Darren (4/5): Terribly disappointed and not even worth half the price we paid £168 - Historical building and full of interesting features
Cheery staff Unfortunately the fried cooking smells from an open kitchen filled the whole hotel, which put us off booking dinner there
We expected a proper English breakfast but got day old danish pastries, sliced bread and instant coffee to self prepare in the upstairs kitchen / lounge.
- John and Anne (9/5): The George has location, charm, friendly staff, great food and clean spacious rooms. - Good continental Brekky in the room. Perfect for us. Small shower
- Liz (10/5): - The staff were really friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to make my friend's birthday a lovely occasion.
The room was spacious, clean and good facilities.
The food in the restaurant was good. N/A
- Anthony (8/5): Excellent facilities and staff are exceptional. Make sure you are fit and healthy for the staircases - The staff were excellent and very accommodating, bed was comfortable and the facilities cleaned on a daily basis. The accommodation is over 2 floors with a very steep and turning staircase. The steps are very narrow and while railings were available a person needs to be spritely to achieve the climb.
- Matthew (10/5): -
- Linda (7/5): A comfortable night’s stay. - The rooms were spacious, the rooms and bathroom were very clean and the kitchenette was well equipped. Bed was comfortable and the bed linen was good quality. Parking was just outside, so very convenient. The staff were friendly and welcoming. There was a good tv in the Lounge area -
once the second set of steep stairs had been negotiated! Then George is a very old building with lots of very steep stairs - I am a fit 79 year old which is just as well as access to the rooms is not easy. The carpets on stairs were very tatty and likewise the decor. There was a strong smell of cooking , so ventilation might be a problem.
- beverley (8/5): - The quirky feel , the gorgeous bedding , the views, the warmth , the massive breakfast. The shower went cold. The sofa bed would benefit from a topper. The staff did not engage at all with us. Just showed us to the door and that was it. No goodbye either. Felt cold.
- robert (8/5): -
- Young (10/5): Excellent stay . Will be back soon - Location, food , beef
- Paul (9/5): Accommodation and food supplied in room was excellent - Very spacious and food in restaurant was excellent Room was cold not helped by bed linen being small size
- ALICE (10/5): -
- Andrew (7/5): -
- Tina (6/5): Used to be brill - not so good these days - Great location , great food , great staff Tatty overall - bedroom smells of cooking and breakfast in room is plastic & poor
- Richard (5/5): -
- Suki (6/5): OK - the bed was comfortable and place quiet - Breakfast was included and I thought it would be a cooked breakfast as many pubs offer, however, they only do cooked breakfast on Sat and Sun mornings. Instead we got croissants in plastic wrapping, an apple and banana and a yoghurt each. We left it there and went to another place for a fresh breakfast.
- Guy (10/5): - Excellent value for money, very quiet The bed was a bit small as im a big lad
- Simon (8/5): - Great value. Train links into Bath.
- tjpuk (9/5): Welcoming with good food - a good overnight stop for me. - Very staff were very welcoming and food was excellent. Stayed in apartment split over two floors which for me was not a problem but it might be an issue for people with limited mobility however, I'm sure that contact with the establishment before booking would resolve this.
Would definately stay again and would also visit for food.
- Roger (8/5): A nice short stay with everything we needed. - The rooms were well equipped with plenty of space. The dinnerwas good. Bathroom heater wasn’t working or the extract fan.
- Nicholas (9/5): We had a delightful stay with good amenities for our comfort and couldn’t praise the staff enough. - Lovely helpful staff. Nice food. Comfortable room. We are not used to stairs and didn’t find them easy. However the staff could not have been more obliging, helping to make things work for us so it was not a real problem.
- philip (9/5): - Lovely food. Very character filled building. Good friendly staff Advert slightly out of date
- Alan (4/5): - The location was fine and the restaurant looked nice although we didn't eat there.
It was clean. The accommodation was cold. The decor was a bit odd especially in the living room/kitchen. A fluffy lamp that was very difficult to switch on. Two old wicker chairs there were too small to sit in. The sofa was too small for two people to sit in comfortably. You couldn't watch BBC 1 on the TV, the reception was so bad. The kitchen blinds didn't work properly. The bed was soft and not very comfortable
Just two standard tea bags, I think they can be more generous. Good job we brought
- Barnaby (6/5): Friendly, lots of character but let down by breakfast (and not because it wasn’t cooked) - Character, bar and food. Sofabed option. Parking. Location No headroom in attic room. Poor ‘continental’ breakfast. Bit tired.
- Giulia (8/5): Onesto per un soggiorno nei Cotswolds - Abbiamo soggiornato per una notte (durante il primo giorno dei Cotswolds). Ottimo il ristorante per avere opzioni gluten free ! Letto troppo piccolo.

- Hilary (10/5): -
- Gareth (7/5): Cosy and perfect for a short stay but limited in what it offered during my stay. - Lovely to have a bedroom and lounge kitchen area.
A lovely and sufficient continental breakfast was provided. It was too remote. Away from the centre of town and the bar closed at 7pm, which was very disappointing. Staff switched off and the place seemed abandoned early.
- Charles (8/5): Overall a good overnight stop. - Characterful. Lots of beams. Staff all very friendly. Very heavy fire doors in the apartment. Narrow stairs.
- Viv (8/5): Overall very nice. Enjoyed a fish Friday supper which was excellent - Spacious suite of rooms Lighting on stairs poor
- Andy (10/5): Beautiful place - excellent and friendly staff - good location away from the centre of town - great -
- MIKE (10/5): -
- Gary (4/5): Difficult one nighter - Tuesday pie night - good value deal. Parking outside. Quiet location. Stairs to and in the duplex apartment, not suitable if not fully mobile. Bedroom decor victorian. No cooked breakfast, just cereal and croissants. Only tv channel available BBC Scotland. Freezing cold shower. Struggled to get a receipt.
- Matt (8/5): -
- carole (8/5): Good - Delicious evening dinner and breakfast
- katharine (10/5): Great accommodation just a short walk from town centre, on a quiet residential street. Loved the fact we had our sitting -
- linda (10/5): Food was amazing! - The staff and quirky interior! Nothing
- Gillian (7/5): -
- Kim (10/5): -
- Bibi (9/5): Voor herhaling vatbaar - Het was super gezellig , lieve mensen en harde werkers. Wij vonden het bed beetje klein en hard. Maar het was heerlijk fris en schoon.
- Mark (8/5): Great little place - Lovely room and great breakfast Smallish bed.
- Harry (10/5): - Very friendly staff, easy to find and good parking too! The breakfast included was definitely worth it one of the best breakfasts we have had away! Only thing would be the size of the bed as we are quite long!
- Debbie (7/5): Disappointing - Beautiful old building. Staff excellent, could not fault. Amazing breakfast with a chef and staff who ate amazing. Challenging stairs, dangerous The bed in the living area was extremely "tacky". The menu for dinner does not equate to gastro pub. Having experienced others with this description it fell short. Just pub food with lovely people.
The walk from town is challenging so recommend 1 night only.
- Elaine (8/5): -
- Jude (7/5): Lovely breakfast, exceptionally helpful and friendly staff -
- Gary (10/5): The staff were genuinely friendly and did their upmost to ensure everything was ok. Great choices of beer and wine. The - A lovely historical pub with a great atmosphere Nothing
- David (9/5): Very nice stay although Bradford on avon is very quiet on a Sunday - Excellent breakfast Steepish hill going back to the George from the town but that shouldn't put anyone off. Taxi's are cheap enough if needed
- Hannah (10/5): Lovely stay - Great location , lovely room , exceptional food , friendly staff
- Luciana (10/5): Perfect stay, would stay again or have food if in the area - Full of character property, loved the nooks & crannies. Our room was a suite which was lovely, had everything we needed and more. Super cosy and made you want to stay there.
The stuff was lovely and super helpful.
Location is great as you are walking distance to town yet a bit out so you don’t get all the tourists.
Food was amazing! We massively regretted not having dinner there (we had booked a high tea in town). Only had chips which were SO good, and breakfast this morning was awesome … coffee was excellent!! Can’t think of anything
- Karen (10/5): Exceptional - It felt like home Creaky floors, but the building it very old,
so what do you expect
- Adam (9/5): Delightful and idyllic surprise. - Staff were lovely, helpful and welcoming. Dinner at the restaurant was delicious, as was the included breakfast. The room was actually a suite, which I hadn't expected. It was nicely decorated with vintage cottage style furniture and fittings, the kitchen had all I needed, and the lounge area had a wonderfully peaceful view over rooftops to the distant hills. I would like to have stayed longer. Not having a car meant a long-ish walk up a gradual hill to get to the place from the village below (10-14 minutes or so), but the relaxing bar and cold cider afterwards made up for it.
- Alex (9/5): Superb - Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the George. Lovely big room with good size bathroom. Upstairs was sizeable despite us not using that space to much. Breakfast was included in the room rate, this was superb. the local produce used on the full English was incredibly tasty. Overall would highly recommend the George if visiting the area.
- Steve (9/5): Superb - Breakfast was included, and we had a bar and beer garden. Bed and shower were a little small, both the bedroom & bathroom had room for a bigger bed and shower respectively.
- Jeff (6/5): Pleasant -
- Kevin (9/5): Superb -
- Richard (9/5): Friendly staff, food and drink reasonably priced. 10min walk from the centre of Bradford on Avon. - Room was very comfortable. Great bed! Dinner was a bbq. Food was fine although a sauce with the lamb would have been great!
- Diane (8/5): A lovely, peaceful place to stay - with fabulous food - A lovely hotel in a quiet part of town- friendly and accommodating staff. Highlights of our stay included breakfast and dinner. Early check in and on site free parking were a bonus. Nothing- everything was great.
- Peter (10/5): Old world charm with modern comfortable facilities with excellent customer service. - The room was beautifully appointed including the bathroom.
Separate room for relaxation which included fridge and basic cooking facilities.
Breakfast was excellent not only choice but also the quality was perfect More for information [than dislike] for anyone not so good on stairs could be a problem.
- Trevor (9/5): Great place to stay, would certainly stay again - The staff were all very friendly. Having a separate lounge/kitchen was very useful as we were staying several days and could leave the bedroom uncluttered with coats, bags, etc. The food and service was excellent - lovely breakfasts and excellent dinners. The George is in a quiet area about 15 minutes walk from the town centre. We found it a great base for exploring the surrounding area by car. Nothing
- Angela (10/5): A lovely place to stay - Had a great overnight stay. Staff are helpful and friendly. Excellent dinner and breakfast. Room was clean and very comfortable. Highly recommend
- Bernadette (8/5): Very good - The George is a beautful pub. The food was great and the staff were very friendly. The studio was incredibly spacious and clean. I was travelling for business and so the 9am breakfast was too late for me, which was a shame. Not a complaint, but just to note that the stairs going up to the lounge and kitchen are very steep.
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional - A warm welcome when we arrived, we had two rooms both very nice we all had a very comfortable night sleep. The gentleman that served us at breakfast was also very attentive we all enjoyed our breakfast it was cooked lovely. We all said that we would stay there again if in the area.
- Sandy (7/5): Good -
- Liz (9/5): Great - i would go there again. - Everything really. Super service. Great food. Friendly staff. Lovely pub in lovely setting. Comfortable, generous sized accommodation. Nothing not to like. .Steep stairs might mean that the accommodation would not suit all but fine for me and my daughter.
- Steven (10/5): Exceptional - Loved the pillows. Amazed that we also had use of an upstairs lounge with TV and two comfy sofas, plus a self catering kitchenette area.
- Lisa (9/5): Superb -
- Patrick (10/5): We enjoyed our stay at The George and will definitely be back! - The George is a lovely historical building with lots of character. It is warm and welcoming and definitely worth a visit.
- Ginette (9/5): Superb -

- Daniella (10/5): Our second visit. We’ll definitely return again. The food was top notch at both breakfast and dinner. Lovely spot. Frien - Cosy stay. Helpful staff. - Elza (10/5): Exceptional -

Breakfast, very good Bed was a bit small as we're used to having a bigger bed..
We also like to watch telly in bed but this was not possible, due to the set up. However, the room was really nice so can't really complain.
- Alison (8/5): Very good -
- Bailey (9/5): Superb -
- Ian (8/5): Excellent value and we will return -
- Diana (8/5): Very pleasant and charming, staff were delightful and the food was excellent. - Characterful, cosy & quirky. The bed headboard moved when you moved in bed, bathroom door stuck and the bathroom could be updated a bit!
- Simon (10/5): Exceptional - Friendly atmosphere and size of rooms / apartments
