• Fiona (8/5): Authentic home stay in village environment - We appreciated the authenticity of the home stay, village nearby and family. We felt and as if we were staying in their home. Nearby are the village and town. It is suited to those who are not looking for a western tourist experience but to spend time in a local area. There are lovely walks to do in the area and it is 15mins on a bus or tuk tuk to Nuwara Elia. Also not far to worlds end. We had a beautiful day with a local tuk tuk driver who took us to local temples and sites. It’s possible to have dinner at the villa - just be aware that it is traditional to eat after 8 pm so plan for this. Our bed was quite noisy and a bit uncomfortable

• Mathilde (10/5): Incroyable ! - Accueil très chaleureux et chambre impeccable ! Le lit était hyper confortable, les draps super doux, on a trop bien dormi ! La douche était bien chaude et la salle de bain d'une propreté nickel. Le petit déjeuner Sri Lankais était super bon, et être accueilli par un thé à notre arrivée était très appréciable 😍 Les plantations de thé dans lesquelles on peu se balader sont littéralement derrière la maison, on voit le pont du train depuis la terrasse et on peut se balader proche de la rivière. On venait surtout pour visiter Nuwara Elyia, et bien qu'à quelques kilomètres, la localisation était parfaite, au calme dans un petit village authentique, à deux pas de la gare, et si on est pas vehiculé, il y a des bus directs pour aller à Nuwara Elyia donc top. On serait bien resté plus longtemps pour se reposer ! Merci pour tout !

• Carlos (9/5): Good place if you’re planning to visit Ella’s railway station - We stayed here for two days with my girlfriend because we wanted to do the train journey from Nanu Oya to Ella. Unfortunately, there were no trains on the day we planned to leave from Nanu Oya, but the owner offered to take us to Ambewela, where trains to Ella were running the following day. He also took care of our motorcycle the whole day. Very cozy place, even though it is still under construction. Highly recommended. -
• Jill (10/5): Very economical, clean, friendly comfortable place for easy access to train at Nanuoya - This place doesn’t look much from the outside, I was a little dubious when I first arrived. However the people running the place are really lovely and allowed me early checkin, I only wanted to leave my bag, and gave me a welcome tea. Rooms are basic but extremely clean, comfortable, warm, quiet and have hot water in bathroom. They even left me a breakfast pack to take with me on my 6am train. Easy walk to train station.

• Michal (10/5): Lovely host! Comfortable clean room with shower with hot water. - I had a very good stay at ANSI Villa. It’s a great place, located just a 10-minute walk from Nanu Oya train station and about a 15-minute tuk-tuk ride to Nuwara Eliya. The villa offers a beautiful view of the bridge, and there are local waterfalls only a 15-minute walk away. It’s a perfect spot if you’re stopping here on your way to another destination. The host is fantastic, really kind people, and the breakfast I had here was probably one of the best I’ve had in Sri Lanka. Overall, it’s excellent value for money. Nothing. Everything was spot on. A

• Charlotte (8/5): Great value for money. - Room was very clean, clean linen on bed and spotless in general. Basic but sufficient. Very quiet at night. We were welcomed with tea and cake and in the morning had a yummy sri lankan breakfast. The location meant we could walk round the road to a beautiful waterfall through the tea plantation. One towel was a bit stained and there was no hot water in the morning. This didnt really affect us though. No driver accomodation- we were not aware this was a thing as this was our first night in sri lanka but double check with your drivers regarding their stay/pay etc...

I have an incredible stay at the place. Shower water is not always warm. That’s okay with me. Just don’t shower at midnight.
• Manreet (10/5): Homely and a stay to unwind and relax . - A peaceful stay for those looking to relax and get off the touristy spots . Nearby waterfalls and scenery makes the stay more pleasant. The owners were so sweet , gave us loads of options to choose for breakfast and even welcomed us with a cup of tea and cake . If you’re having big luggage it might be hard to walk from the bus stop in the town to the hotel , otherwise it’s a steep walk for about 9 minutes .
• Aneta (10/5): Nice place in the middle of tea plantations - It is a really nice place to stay. The hosts were very kind and helpful, and we enjoyed a delicious breakfast and dinner with local food. The location is convenient – just a short walk from the train station, close to beautiful waterfalls, and also not far from Nuwara Eliya, which we easily reached by bus. On top of that, the price was very good.

• Stephan (9/5): Tolle Unterkunft, Nähe des Bahnhofs - Wir wurden sehr freundlich mit Tee und einem Stück Kuchen empfangen. Das Abendessen hier ist wirklich wunderbar und sehr zu empfehlen. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich, die Räume waren sehr sauber. Es hat alles wunderbar funktioniert und wir können die Unterkunft nur wärmstens weiter empfehlen. Von der Terrasse aus hat man einen schönen Blick auf die Brücke, dort kann man die Züge Richtung Bahnhof beobachten. Vom Bahnhof ist es nur eine kurze Distanz. Gelohnt hat sich für uns auch der Ausflug zu einem kleinen Wasserfall, das kann man in gut 20 Minuten zu Fuß machen. Es war alles prima

• Laia (5/5): Muy justito - Esta cerca de la estación, está en medio de la nada y eso transmite paz. Y tienen un pequeño detalle de bienvenida que está rico. La cena que te hacen es abundante y buena Agua fría, tienen un calentador para compartir entre todas las habitaciones, la ventana del lavabo no cierra y entra mucho frío, el desayuno es como si fuera una comida ( para un europeo no se concibe). Y el pueblo es muy rural, no hay apenas de nada y menos restaurantes… es mejor irte a Nuwara Eliya

• Lena (8/5): Essen super! Zimmer für 1 Nacht ausreichend - Einfache Unterkunft in super Lage zum Ortskern und Wasserfällen. Ebenso nur 5 Minuten Fußweg zum Bahnhof Nanu Oya. Das Abendessen von den Gastgebern war super! Können wir nur empfehlen. Bekamen Reis und Curry mit unterschiedlichsten Beilagen (Portionen riesig). Auch das Frühstück war reichlich und sehr gut und eine Abwechslung zu den anderen Unterkünften. Wer also eine Zwischenunterkunft braucht, um dann mit dem Zug nach Ella zu kommem, is hier richtig. :) Zimmer in Ordnung, etwas feucht (leichter Schimmel im Bad). Hat uns aber für 8€ die Nacht und nur 1 Nacht Aufenhalt nicht weiter gestört.

• Manon (6/5): Goed voor een nachtje op doorreis - Voor een verblijf van één nachtje op doorreis was het oké. Mooie waterval in de buurt om even naartoe te lopen en dichtbij het station. Het gekookte eten (duurde wel 2 uur) was wel heel lekker en niet duur. De kamer was heel klein en heel erg basic en ongezellig. Teveel kamers ten opzichte van de algemene ruimte, wij wilden even lekker op de bank zitten, maar er was een groep jongens die daar al zaten. Dan kon je alleen ongezellig in je basic kamer op het bed zitten. Het zoontje geeft aan dat er restaurantjes in de buurt zitten, de eigenaresse zegt vervolgens van niet en dan moet je daarna 1 uur op een colaatje wachten die ze ergens moeten halen en 2 uur op je eten. Het is mega gehorig, dus andere gasten hoor je heel goed. De eigenaren spreken niet goed Engels en zijn niet echt zichtbaar. Het duurde lang voordat iemand je naar je kamer bracht, terwijl we heel laat aankwamen. Wifi is matig, geen douchegel in de badkamer.

• famWolfs (10/5): - Het hotel ligt op een heel mooie locatie. Helaas hadden wij de pech dat het heel mistig en regenachtig was. Hierdoor weinig kunnen zien van omgeving. De brug met de trein is te zien vanaf het terras. Het avond eten was lekker en heel ruime porties. Tip het is er redelijk koud, dus zorg voor dikke kleding. Door het regenachtige weer was alles erg klam en hierdoor voelde het koud aan. Hotel kan hier natuurlijk niks aan doen..

L’endemà ens va recomenar una petita excursió fins a una cascada propera. L’estació per agafar el tren cap a Ella estava molt a prop. A l’allotjament feien sopar (no inclòs en el preu, 1350-1600€ per cap), ja que a prop no hi havia gaire res… Les racions de menjar eren molt grans, val la pena compartir-les. Com a contrapunt, es tracta d’una casa en obres i, per tant, falten moltes comoditats, hi ha parets fetes amb fullola, forats com a finestres, espais encara amb bigues i ferros d’obra, etc. Vam enganxar un dia plujós (habitual en la zona) i vam haver de menjar en una taula a fora (amb l’humitat i el fred). La comunicació era complicada perquè parlaven poc anglès. Les habitacions eren petites i amb força humitat. No hi ha aigua calenta.

The sitting area at the property, lovely sofa to relax with a beautiful view. The amazing food Amboo cooked for us. If you like genuinity and simplicity this is for you. Water falls nearby that makes a water sound background pleasant to be in company with. Nothing to mention.

Empfangen wurden wir mit Tee und Kuchen. Das Zimmer war sauber und es gab eine warme Decke. Frühstück und Abendessen waren auch sehr lecker und die Gastgeber sehr freundlich :) Alles super!

• Hankinson (9/5): Pleasant and relaxing. - Nanu Oya is small, and the Ansi Villa is an easy walk from the station. The place is fairly basic but vey reasonably priced and the couple who run it are lovely. Breakfast was also basic, but pretty good. The shower was a little primitive.

• Manatsu (10/5): - The hotel is located in a quiet area surrounded by Nuwara Eliya’s beautiful tea plantations. Having breakfast on the balcony while enjoying the view was truly the best way to start the day. The room I stayed in had only a bed, and my private bathroom (shower and toilet) was located in a separate room, but it was designated just for me. By walking along the railway tracks, I could reach the station in about 5 minutes on foot, which made it very easy to catch my train the next morning. The owner was also very kind and friendly. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
• Heleen (9/5): Fijne plek - We kregen, ondanks dat we deze niet geboekt hadden, de familiekamer. Heel erg fijn met onze twee jonge kinderen. Alles was super schoon, netjes en dichtbij het trein station. We moesten wel even wachten op het eten. Dit was het qua smaak helemaal waard, maar voor onze kinderen lastig omdat ze hongerig waren.

• Tanja (9/5): Sehr Gastfreundlich =D - Die Lage ist super. Es liegt in Nanuoya ganz in der Nähe des Bahnhofes (in ca. 6 Min. bergab zu Fuss erreichbar) oder natürlich auch mit Tuktuks. Ein Wasserfall liegt in ca. 16 Min. Entfernung und kann auch super gut zu Fuss erreicht werden. Hierfür einfach der Strasse über die Gleise folgen. Was mir persönlich super gut gefallen hat, ist, dass dieser Ort nicht so voller Touristen war, sondern viel mehr Einheimische im Vergleich zu Nuwara Eliya und auch preisgünstiger. Zudem ist Nanuoya sehr nahe bei Nuwara Eliya, der wunderschöne britisch angehauchte Ort, in welchem auch mehrere Teeplantagen und -Fabriken zu finden sind. Mit dem Bus, welcher nahe des Bahnhofes abfährt, kann man sehr günstig nach Nuwara Eliya fahren. Die Bustickets können hierfür im Bus gekauft werden, nach dem Einsteigen. Die Vermieter sind sehr freundlich, nehmen sich Zeit für ihre Gäste und deren Fragen und begrüssen einem mit Kaffee/Tee und Kuchen mit Banane =D Sie waren auch sehr hilfsbereit, meine nächste Unterkunft zu finden, denn ich wollte meinen Aufenthalt verlängern, aber sie waren bereits ausgebucht. Das Essen war sehr lecker und es gab sehr grosse Portionen. Das Internet hat nur ganz langsam funktioniert. Der Vermieter war dann aber so freundlich und hat mir Hotspot gegeben für meine dringende nächste Buchung.

Kolacja którą nam wieczorem zaserwowała przerosła nasze oczekiwania- curry z ryżem było najlepsze jakie jedliśmy do tej pory na Srilance. Polecamy!

La cama es muy cómoda y la ubicación es genial si tienes que coger el tren. El anfitrión nos llevo en coche a la estación de tren a las 5:30 de la mañana sin cobrarnos nada. -

• Azka (9/5): Wonderful location and good oeople - The location is just wow! Nanuoya is a very small village with moderate accmodation option. We did not except a lot facilities from this stay. But we enjoyed our stay here. It is very close to Gassgauh Waterfall and tea estate. I loved the waterfall so much. The location is serene with a mountain stream in front and tea garden at the backdrop. The breakfast was large and very delicious. We had our dinner too & it was also very tasty. Best meals we had in Srilanka. The owner and his wife are very cordial. They offered us welcome tea and snack. He went to the market to bring milk as we were asking if they can provide milk tea. I find this is very generous of him. The room is small and bare minimum. The washroom is also a bit dark. But as it is a very small village, we have no complain.

• Thomas (7/5): - Die Unterkunft liegt sehr nahe am Bahnhof (sofern man über die Bahngleise geht in 5 min. erreichbar). Die Teeplantagen grenzen unmittelbar an, auch Cafes und der empfehlenswerte Foodtruck beim Bahnhof sind zu Fuß in 10 min. erreichbar. Wir wurden mit Tee und Kuchen empfangen, was wir ser schön fanden. Schwierig war es zu erkennen wo wir hingehen konnten, um offene Fragen zu stellen bzw. Infos zu erreichen. Das wurde nicht kommuniziert und auch bei der Hausaufteilung nicht klar. Das Zimmer ist mit einer warmen Decke ausgestattet, was in Nanu Oya aufgrund der Temperaturen an sich von Vorteil ist, jedoch ist es eine Kuscheldecke ohne Bezug.
• Lidia (9/5): - cogimos este alojamiento porque estaba muy cerca de la estación de tren de Nuwara Eliya y madrugábamos para coger el tren a Ella. el mismo dueño nos acercó a la estación en su coche. una familia muy agradable y servicial.
• Stokkink (10/5): - Best place i stayed during my trip. Such a nice host and the room was very tidy. Also great food, i got a nice welcome tea and there is an amazing waterfall close. Also very close to the train station.
• Herbert (7/5): günstige Unterkunft in Bahnhofsnähe - Die Besitzer waren sehr freundlich, die Chefin hat überdies ein sehr gutes Abendessen für mich und einen weiteren Gast zubereitet. Zur Begrüßung gab es Tee und Kuchen. Das Bett war sehr bequem, Zimmer und Bad waren tadellos sauber. Die Beleuchtung im Zimmer war tadellos. Die Unterkunft befindet sich in Unmittelbarer Nähe zum Bahnhof Nanuoya und wird deshalb häufig von Gästen besucht, die eine Zugfahrt unternehmen. Das WLAN funktionierte während meiner Anwesenheit gar nicht. Die Ausstattung des Zimmers ist auf das Wesentlichste beschränkt, das weiß man aber bereits beim Buchen, dass es sich um eine einfache Unterkunft handelt. Preis und Ausstattung passen nicht ganz zusammen, dies wird aber durch die Freundlichkeit der Vermieter kompensiert.

• Siri (8/5): - Very convenient location for the train to Ella. Beautiful surroundings. Simple, good room. No AC but it’s not neccessary as it’s cool temperature at night bc of the altitude. Staff was friendly and helpful. Good breakfast.

• David (10/5): - Sehr freundlicher Gastgeber. Frühstück war top und viel. Haben als wir angekommen sind Tee bekommen und auf der Terrasse die Aussicht genossen.
• Elisabetta (10/5): Tra i campi da tè - Struttura semplice ma con tutti i comfort, vicinissima alla stazione e situata in una zona molto tranquilla, se arrivate nel pomeriggio approfittate per fare una passeggiata nei campi da tè fino alla cascata vicina. Possibilità di fare un'ottima cena direttamente in struttura.
• Emma (8/5): Nuit près de la gare de Nanu Oya - Logement à 3 minutes de la gare pour le train. Passage du train visible depuis la terrasse. Chambre pas très grande mais confortable. Bon dîner mais petit déjeuner peut être un peu léger (même chose le soir et le matin). Accueil très gentil. Travaux autour du logement mais nous n’avons pas été embêtées par le bruit.
