Guest Reviews
- Lucio (10/5): - Full of monkeys and birds. You can swim in the river. No options of restaurants around.
- Dr. Hub (4/5): Mixed feelings - Ontbijt was prima, veel keuze. Goede matrassen.
- Nurain (9/5): Adventurous and would go again. - The location was amazing, right on the river Nile. The camping facility was nicely set up. The only downside was that there was no charging ports in the camp site.
- Moraa (10/5): Perfect stay - I loved the ambience, it's just next to the Nile. The bar area with the view of the Nile. The staff were amazing. I loved breakfast. I enjoyed my stay very much The roads to the place especially when it runs. But we can't control the weather. You guys should have local foods especially for dinner, like chapati, ugali, etc
- Julia (9/5): -
- Teresa (10/5): -
- Amanda (8/5): - The view is amazing! I like the main bar and terrace, tents were comfortable and showers hot. Good value for such a special setting. The whole place looks very tired and could do with a bit of paint and tlc.Staff didn't always have change at the bar.
- Isabella (7/5): Great location and views, but very basic dorm. - I stayed here for the convenience of a boat cruise I had planned, and location wise it could not have been better. The property is right by the river and the views are absolutely stunning. The property sits up high with the river down below, and the view is incredible. It is a whole panoramic view with lots of trees and nature everywhere!
I stayed in the dorm, which is very basic. Think boarding school style with communal showers and toilets. They were upfront that it is just a place to sleep, so if you are expecting hotel amenities, this is not it. If you want a better experience, I would recommend going for the tent instead. The views from the tent are even more incredible as you have better access to the amazing scenery and views, right when you wake up.
The food was great. Breakfast was satisfying. The people I met were raving about the burgers(biggest burgers I have seen so far!). The food was amazing and honestly made me want to come back to try more. They had some good options.
What I loved most about this place was the overall vibe. There are so many activities to do on the property. You can go rafting, on boat cruises, swim in the river, water slide into the river, etc! It is the kind of place where you can do activities all day, come back tired, order some food, spend the night, and leave the next day. Everything is convenient and the views make it even better!
Overall, I enjoyed my stay. It is a nice, relaxing place with amazing views, good food, and plenty to do. Just come prepared for a very basic dorm or splurge on the tent for the full experience. The downside was the Wi Fi. It is extremely limited, only accessible in a tiny part of the restaurant area. You cannot get it from the dorms or the tents, or even the reception area which is right next to the restaurant. It was pretty inconvenient.
The food took a while to come, but they also had quite a lot of people that day. Just place your order in advance if you do not want to wait.
- Philipp (10/5): -
- Miroslav (8/5): - Klidné místo, dobrá snídaně.
- tim (8/5): pleasant - is what it is , a river camp , very pleasant shower perhaps could have been better , but given what it is had no real complaints
- laura (9/5): Fun place for a little camping excursion in Jinga at very reasonable rates. - My son loved the slide and the monkeys Nothing.
- Maja Kirstine (6/5): - Very friendly and helpful staff. Hot shower. Extremely beautiful view over the river Nile. The room didn’t look like those on the pictures, it was cold and not super clean. And the light in the room did’t really work.
- joel (8/5): - The view:) the monkeys, the location, the neighborhood The friut plate
- Wegner (9/5): -
- Azazels (10/5): -
- Fernando (10/5): - The tents right in front of the Nile River
- Fernando (10/5): -
- Weru (10/5): Would definitely recommend. - Breakfast was really good especially for a person who takes eggs.
We did so many activities as complementary. Thank you for that. The breakfast options for someone who does not take eggs was very limiting. Please have baked beans as an option as opposed to offering it at an additional cost.
- Gerald (10/5): - Nice staff and nice boat trip on the nil !
- Tumusiime (10/5): - 🤝🤝🤝😍😍😍😍
- Stella (6/5): Good - Breakfast good Living or sleeping near the river Nile breathing of the river Nile
- Lea (8/5): - The breakfast was very good and the staff took great care of us. Other than that, outside of the camp, there is a very nice local place where you can get local food that tastes amazing!
- Muhindo (9/5): - The view on the river and birds 🐦 🎵 Tents are not self contain and restaurant don't propose African food
- Tendo Lubega (9/5): Helpful staff; tidy room - Incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Lovely, tidy room.
- Marcelo (10/5): 100% recommended - Explorers River Camp is incredible, the view from the tents is absolutely insane!
Tip: ask for the tents with Nile views instead of the dorm rooms.
Tip 2: go for lunch/dinner to Nile Star Restaurant it is just across the road and their food is WAY cheaper, it is local food, and you support a local wonderful Elma like Mary who is the owner and cooker. Best homemade food in Uganda One thing they could improve is the restaurant. Orders get mixed up quite often, sometimes you receive something you didn’t ask for, or they simply forget your order.
- Syni (10/5): Super 👌🏾 -
- Alex (6/5): -
- Mukalazi (8/5): -
- JEAN-JAMES (10/5): Une superbe étape - L’accueil, l’emplacement, le personnel et l’excellent petit déjeuner
Je recommande vivement
- Travis (8/5): - The property is in a wonderful location and the staff is extremely friendly. The restaurant and chill area are peaceful at night. It is good value for the money and makes you feel distant from any civilization. The property is dated but well maintained. The shops outside the property also add to the location. The lights in the room could be brighter and the sink/shower could use a small update.
- Harel (8/5): -
- Julie (8/5): GREAT LOCAL STAFF / OWNER NEEDS MANNERS - The view from our tent.
The bar.
Wonderful staff. Big shout out to Joyce, Richard, Ali and Pascal.
Breakfast was excellent.
The atmosphere.
BIRDING:
The birding guide KIBIINA was incredible. My favourite of all 10 African countries on my trip. You can organise a trip at reception with him.
HAIRCUT:
We were in need of a haircut. Turn right, just outside entrance and visit Teddy at BUJJA BAARBERS SALON (Google maps) . Cost currently just £2. With head and arm massage The experience was let down by the rude Australian (owner) lady who pushed in front of my husband to order a club lager at the bar. The staff immediately looked after her, abandoning my spouse. She neither said please nor thank you to anyone.
The other (husband?) owner was very nice.
- Ganesh (4/5): -
- Maina (5/5): Was good but they should improve.. the views are awesome especially the sunset - For such a place I would expect a variety when it comes to meals more especially breakfast The services, they should hire more waiters
- Natalie (4/5): - Location was great, woke up to monkeys and view of the river. Breakfast was okay too Maybe a little clean
- Nicholas (9/5): - The cottage was well-sized and had an extra bed for my two babies, allowing us all to sleep comfortably. The environment was calm, relaxing, and pleasantly cool, making it easy to unwind. Water pressure was excellent, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming.
There are plenty of water activities to keep guests engaged for more than a day, and the location is ideal centrally placed and close to many other great attractions and activities. Overall, a peaceful and refreshing stay that we truly enjoyed. You may not have a variety of food choices at the restaurant but you have options outside.
- Patrick (9/5): Perfect change - Perfect change and the slide was epic...staff was perfect Toilets felt a bit far
- Deborah (9/5): -
- Brenninkmeyer (10/5): -
- Pickard (7/5): -
- Marika (8/5): -
- Piia (9/5): A great place for outdoor lovers - The view is simply breathtaking. I ended up staying here for weeks, mainly kayaking on the Nile (a High recommend for “Kayak the Nile” on the same compound!). The staff is very friendly and the breakfast was good too.
- Mercy (10/5): -
- Leonard (10/5): -
- Negin (10/5): - It’s an amazing place to stay.
It’s located in a really nice village which you can walk around and the place itself has a beautiful view of the river.
It’s also pretty clean. The staff could be nicer and friendlier.
- Tessa (10/5): -
- Niekus Faurie (9/5): -
- Mazien (10/5): - The views of the Nile are simply breathtaking—so serene and calming. The staff were warm, attentive, and always happy to help with suggestions for tours. We left refreshed and already planning our next visit. Highly recommended!
- Sergey (9/5): -
- Christopher (9/5): -
- Christopher (9/5): -
- Janina (9/5): Oasis on the Nile - Waking up to the view of the Nile is breathtaking. The breakfast was amazing and even had a vegan option when I asked for it. The staff was so friendly. Enjoyed it a lot!
- Sharon (10/5): -
- Norbert (10/5): -
- Douglas (6/5): Decent accommodations, good food choices for all meals. Real nice breakfast. Rooms need updating - Beautiful location and facilities right overlooking the Nile. The cabins are quite dated and a little run down. Good for a couple nights.
- Alexandra (7/5): -
- Cheptoo (10/5): - I loved the view,the location,the activities available at the camp,the tents was awesome
- Agnieszka (10/5): Bardzo udany. - Znakomita lokalizacja. Dobre śniadania Wszystko mi się podobało.
- Jonathan (10/5): -
- Alexander (8/5): -
- Bar (1/5): The most disgusting place we stayed in on our trip in Uganda🤮👎🏼 - הראפטינג היה כיף We arrived at a room that was extremely dirty, the entire bed was full of bugs and when we asked to change the sheets they looked at us as if we were the problem. There are no doors in the bathroom and shower. There was no hot water and no sensible flow. In the middle of the night the bathroom started to spray water everywhere and all our bags and suitcases were flooded with sewage water. When we went to reception they didn't treat us, they belittled us, and at a certain point they couldn't find a good solution so they just went home and left us to find a new room and change the sheets ourselves. The worst service I've ever experienced. Do not come under any circumstances!! We suffered every moment and were just waiting to leave.
- Adriano (5/5): -
Endroit reposant.
- Himanshu (8/5): Satisfying, amidst nature, raw , rustic and loved it. Shops just outside the camp are good. Rolex and other specialities - In the midst of nature, lively and truly an experience. 1. The washroom attached with our room was not so good. It’s like just a wall barrier to the living room. You wouldn’t want to go to washroom or toilet while your partner is there in the room given how they have constructed it. I used the common toilets. Wish i had booked a room lower to this since this very facility felt useless.
2. It’s a little away from Jinja city. Better you take care of own transport since the person at desk will milk you dry if you get a quote. I could get a better deal from my previous day Uber driver than what this front desk guy was offering. Exorbitant.
- Anita (8/5): - Struttura tenuta molto bene, tanti bagni e letti comodissimi.
- Vilonel (8/5): Relaxed rustic hang out space. - Casual atmosphere. Right on the river. White river rafting was great fun and very professionally done. Fresh water in the tents were provided only on the first day - it should be replenished every day of stay (same price every day). The rooms were never cleaned or tidied during our stay.
- Hind (7/5): Good - The views The room can be more clean and tidy -
- Leonie (10/5): Exceptional - Super friendly and helpful people! Great view! I really enjoyed the stay here at the Camp and also the Rafting Experience.
Also the laundry service was amazing, thank you so much!
- Suresh (10/5): I'd stay here again - Fantastic location. The view of The Nile from my tent was great way to end my day and to start the next morning. It was comfortable and I had good sleep. I expected mosquitoes but there were none. Lots of opportunities to see different types of monkeys. Breakfast was good with great coffee. The staff are very welcoming and efficient. That I couldn't stay longer. It was sad to leave.
- Rob (10/5): A lovely place to stay, with a short drive into Jinja. The location, food, staff were excellent - The location was excellent, with amazing views across the Nile. We had the family cottage - it was perfect for our needs. The bar/food area was lovely, especially at night when lit up.
- Arifa (7/5): Good - Nile view from this property. The tent is not comfortable. Far from toilet. At night it is bit discomfort to go there.
- Margaret (4/5): Good and bad - Staff are friendly the compound is refreshing Rooms need a renovation. Mattress are poor quality. The bathrooms are not too clean
- Angela (10/5): Exceptional -
- Deborah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mercy (6/5): Pleasant -
- Batte (1/5): Waiters were rude n the place was boring - Boring n service was lacking Waiters are rude
- John (10/5): Exceptional - Quaint setting alongside the Nile with basic amenities. Great staff and good food
