I can stay all day inside. It is near paliton beach also and the night life of san juan. Plus the owner and staff are all very friendly. None.

Highlight war das Personal: Gerry, Zayra sowie das gesamte Team waren jederzeit hilfsbereit und standen bei Fragen oder Anliegen immer zur Verfügung. Zudem haben sie mir wertvolle Empfehlungen für die Insel gegeben. Das Zimmer ist einfach ausgestattet, bietet jedoch alles, was man benötigt: ein Bett, Badezimmer, Beleuchtung und eine Klimaanlage. Das Badezimmer (Toilette und Dusche) befindet sich im Aussenbereich. Die Privatsphäre ist dennoch gewährleistet, da der Bereich gut abgeschirmt ist (Wände vorhanden, jedoch keine Decke). Duschgel und Shampoo stehen zur Verfügung. Die Terrasse (Bamboo Deck) bietet verschiedene Sitzmöglichkeiten wie Sitzsäcke, Stühle und Tische. Besonders empfehlenswert ist es, hier die Aussicht am Tag sowie insbesondere den Sonnenuntergang zu geniessen. Kaffee und Wasser gibt es kostenlos. Bier ist für 80 Pesos zu haben. Die Lage ist ideal: Der Palinton Beach ist in ca. 5–10 Gehminuten erreichbar, die Stadt in etwa 10-15 Minuten. Verpflegungsmöglichkeiten gibt es sowohl am Strand als auch im Ort. Die Miete eines Rollers ist dennoch sehr empfehlenswert. Die Unterkunft liegt im Grünen. Daher sollte man beachten, dass vereinzelt Kleintiere wie Ameisen, Frösche oder Heuschrecken auftreten können. Spinnen oder Ähnliches habe ich persönlich nicht festgestellt. Für mich war dies kein Problem, da es sich in einem geringen Rahmen hielt und die Unterkunft insgesamt gepflegt ist. Ich kann Balay Kumbal wärmstens empfehlen. Nichts.

• Britt (10/5): - We hebben 3 nachten bij Gerry verbleven en het was echt een heerlijke plek om helemaal tot rust te komen. De accommodatie is super fijn en ontspannen opgezet, precies wat je zoekt om even te ontsnappen aan alles. Gerry en zijn staff zijn ontzettend lief en vriendelijk, en doen echt hun best om je verblijf zo prettig mogelijk te maken. Gerry gaf ons ook veel leuke tips over dingen om te doen in de omgeving, wat erg fijn was. We hebben heerlijk geslapen en de huisjes waren echt top. Vanaf het deck kijk je mooi uit op zee, en het ligt ook nog geen 10 minuten lopen van Paliton Beach, een prachtig strand om de zonsondergang te bekijken. Zeker een plek die de moeite waard is om te verblijven!

• Eric (10/5): - La gentillesse de Gerry et Zay Rah qui font le maximum pour nous sentir bien 👍 L'emplacement est magnifique, la vue est superbe et on n'a pas besoin d'aller sur la plage de paliton (qui est blindée de monde !) pour le coucher de soleil, on l'a en direct pour nous seuls 🌞👌 Les scooters à disposition pour 350 php / jour La chambre est un peu petite mais très bien et la douche extérieure est très spacieuse et jolie Vraiment rien , tout est parfait pour nous 👍

Le jardin reposant avec les fauteuils et la vue sur mer 180 ° L'accueil chaleureux du manager Gerry, qui fait tout pour qu on soit bien ! Possibilité de louer un scooter , vélo à disposition.. Bonne wifi Il faut savoir que le 1er restaurant est à 1 km environ actuellement, scooter obligatoire pour visiter donc... La chambre est un peu rustique, mais cela fait du bien de se couper du quotidien parfois... Salle de bain ouverte au niveau du toit..

• bernard (7/5): Décevant - L'emplacement à proximité d'une belle plage. Le deck surplombant la mer. Les équipements n'étaient pas bien entretenus et insuffisants compte tenu du prix que nous avons payé. Pas de protection du matelas, les fenêtres ne fermaient pas, l'évier commun était bouché, les serviettes de toilette étaient usées, entretien très moyen de notre cottage et du jardin etc... Nous avons été déçus au regard des précédents commentaires et du rapport qualité prix qui n'était pas aux attendus.
• Florence (8/5): L’hôtel est un havre de paix. - L’emplacement en surplomb de la mer est magnifique. L’accès à Paliton à pied (bain le matin sans personne) est un vrai plus. L’hôte est d’une gentillesse exceptionnelle, prêt à rendre service et à donner des conseils. L’endroit est calme à l’écart de l’agitation touristique de San Juan. C’est vraiment dommage qu’il n’y ait pas de possibilité de prendre le petit déjeuner. Nous prenions le scooter pour trouver un restaurant pas très loin. Ce n’était pas compliqué car les restaurants sont proches mais nous aurions apprécié de prendre le petit déjeuner à l’hôtel avant de démarrer notre journée. Le prix de la chambre est un peu élevé au vu des prestations.

• Hahn (9/5): - Die Besitzer waren super freundlich und unterstützen und helfen einem bei jedem Anliegen oder Vorhaben. Uns wurde angeboten kostenfrei den Roller, Fahrräder und Schnorchelausrüstung auszuleihen. Die Lage war eine 10/10. Man kann den Sonnenuntergang vom Hotel aus genießen. Ein paar wenige, aber für uns ausreichende Restaurants sind in naher Umgebung. Der Paliton Beach ist ebenfalls in 5 Minuten Fußläufig erreichbar! Die Ausstattung der Unterkunft ist einfach, aber total ausreichend. Das wichtigste ist die Klimaanlage, welche einwandfrei funktioniert.

• Jeannie (6/5): Nice view but noisy construction - The view from the deck was nice. Staff was helpful when our scooter had a flat tire. The main thing wrong with this property is that there is an active construction site immediately behind the huts and they were jackhammering and doing construction, which was extremely noisy from 8 AM to 5 PM when I voiced my disappointment about this to the owner, he turned into the victim about how he had had to get a restraining order, and then I became the bad guy when he said none of the other guests had complained about this, which I find very hard to believe. If he is renting out these units, he should warn the guests ahead of time and he should be offering a discount given the fact that you can’t really be there for the whole day. There were also a lot of little issues. There are stray dogs on the property and there’s a lovely deck area to sit and relax covered with Astroturf and the dogs would pee there! The toilet leaked in the bathroom there were no toiletries provided except for hand soap. And even though he should’ve had a back up generator and we wouldn’t even notice when the power went out, my husband sleeps with a sleep apnea machine that requires electric electricity and our last night there there was no electricity and so we had a miserable night sleep with no air-conditioning and my husband snoring all night. All in all we were really glad to leave. The one amenity they do provide is instant coffee and powdered milk, which they ran out of during our stay. The final straw was that we came back in the evening to an upset owner saying that he could hear water running in our bathroom and he had lost 4000 gallons of water. It was not us and it felt weird to be blamed for something we didn’t do. We stayed two nights at a different resort up the beach and it was only $10 more for really nice amenities, including a pool and breakfast and so I would just not stay here. It’s not good value.

• Lauren (10/5): A perfect spot to unwind and catch the sunset - A beautiful location to watch sunset and hangout by the water. It is right beside one of the most popular beaches, had access to snorkelling a few steps away, room was clean and comfortable. The best part about our stay though was how warm and welcoming our host Gerry was. He had a scooter arranged for when we got there, plenty of excellent recommendations, laundry service delivered to our room, and was just a great human. We would highly recommend staying here. Thanks for everything Gerry! Everything was great
• Stewart (7/5): Very enjoyable stay with a terrific host Gerry attending to all our needs. Tubod Marine Park provided outstanding snorke - Gerry was a wonderful host. He was friendly, generous and very accommodating. The Bamboo Deck had an outstanding view. Really good to note the use of solar panels. No hot water in wet/cloudy weather. Rooms very small, even for 2 slim adults. Balcony would have helped but not when there is heavy rain.

• Julia (9/5): Friendly, quirky place to relax and enjoy the company of the host and fellow travelers. - The bamboo deck right on the water has beautiful views of sunrise and sunset. There are three good restaurants within walking distance. One we like but not mentioned by the staff is “Siquijor Food Stop”.
• Gautami (10/5): Most memorable stay in the Philippines - The hotel is in a great location. Very serene, overlooking the ocean and both sunset and sunrise views from the deck. We got down from the ocean, used a rented pedal boat (rented from the owner Gerry) to go to the Palton beach and do snorkeling. It is also close by to prominent cafes if you have a scooty/bike. The host Gerry is really good. He's friendly and helpful. He was always there for our queries and encouraged us to try snorkeling and boating. He also has a snorkel and life jacket that he shared free of cost. Nothing really.
• Jean-Luc (10/5): Séjour agréable à Siquijor, accueil chaleureux et cadre relaxant. - Accueil chaleureux et sincère. Gerry et sa petite équipe prennent le temps de donner des conseils utiles et pertinents sur les plages, les activités et les restaurants locaux, ce qui facilite vraiment le séjour, même avec un anglais imparfait. Le guest house est convivial et agréable à vivre. La chambre est confortable et climatisée. La salle de bain attenante, partiellement ouverte sur l’extérieur avec un mur en pierre décoré, est originale et parfaitement dans l’esprit de l’île. Le grand jardin est un vrai atout, avec plusieurs terrasses et pergolas en bois et bambou, et surtout une vue exceptionnelle sur la mer en bout de terrain, idéale pour se détendre. Des vélos sont mis gratuitement à disposition et des scooters sont proposés à la location. La plage de Paliton est à environ 200 mètres, facilement accessible à pied, avec une ambiance agréable au coucher du soleil et de petits stands à prix abordables. Une très bonne adresse à Siquijor, bien située, conviviale et humaine. Des travaux de construction étaient en cours dans la journée sur le terrain voisin, ce qui a pu occasionner un peu de bruit à certains moments. Cela reste toutefois indépendant de l’établissement et ne remet pas en cause la qualité de l’accueil ni du séjour.
• Vlad Ivanescu (10/5): Siquijor freedom - A fost prima noastra cazare in Filipine. Gazda e foarte faina. Locatia e de asemenea wow, la malul marii, am facut cateva bai acolo. E la distanta mica de Paliton beach, o plaja foarte misto. Ai parte de apusuri superbe de la cazare. Gasesti de cumparat bere, fructe, cafea. Ai frigider si aer conditionat in camera. Toata cazarea e pe chill, te face sa simti liberatea din Siquijor. ei bine, fiind o cazare in Siquijor e bine sa tii cont ca intreaga insula nu e foarte pregatita pentru turisti vestici. Nu prea ai presuine la apa la dus, banuiesc ca apa inca e o problema. Baia in general e la nivelul de baza. Nu ne-a stricat cheful, lucrurile bune compenseaza.

• Michelle (9/5): Top verblijf waar de hartelijkheid het verschil maakt! - Prachtig verblijf gehad in Balay kumbal! Gelegen net naast Paliton beach en op korte afstand van leuke restaurants. Met de scooter is alles snel en vlot bereikbaar. Kamer was eenvoudig maar alles wat je nodig had: goede airco, fan, grote (buiten)badkamer, warme douche. Wat de blikvanger was, was uiteraard het prachtige Bamboo Deck vanaf waar je zowel sunrise als sunset prima kon zien. Gerry maakte het verblijf extra speciaal door zijn hartelijkheid en het zijn van een fantastische gastheer, niets was te veel. Wij zouden hier zeker terug komen! Geen ontbijt beschikbaar door het onverwachte vertrek van de chef. Zou een grote meerwaarde zijn mocht je op het Bamboo Deck kunnen genieten van een lekker ontbijt.

• Luna (10/5): Amazing stay, would recommend and come back! - Gerry was so communicative and welcoming to me and my family. Anthony and other staff were very helpful as well. We loved the private/secluded feeling with access to the water/tides, a dedicated shared area for viewing sunset. Just a bit of a walk from the main street to catch tuktuks, but no problem. The staff also helped us call for tuktuks/vans when we requested.

• Raquel (10/5): Amazing place to stay ☺️ - The property has beautiful sunset view. Overlooking, coz it’s in the cliff. The Balay were really nice, we have four rooms in total. Comfortable, toilets are huge. The owner Mr Gerry is very friendly, welcoming and accommodating. He always gives information and that’s really helped us the whole time we stayed! Unlimited water, coffee & tea! The deck is the great spot for sunset till evening chitchat with family or friends ❤️ It’s not that we didn’t like? It’s just we wont be able to experience the cliff jump because stairs were destroyed by the previous typhoon 😔

Svårbadat vid lågvatten, inga aktiviteter eller restauranger i närheten och endast dryck finns på boendet. Inget för en barnfamilj..

Il Bamboo Deck é un vero gioiello, ti permette di godere di tramonti e albe spettacolari da una prospettiva appartata. Abbiamo anche adorato il fatto di avere un accesso diretto da dove partire a fare direttamente snorkeling. Gerry inoltre é un ottimo padrone di casa, qualsiasi cosa abbiate bisogno basta chiedere Unica pecca è che al momento c é una scala di accesso all'acqua un po' scomoda, stanno ripristinando quella comoda (distrutta dai tifoni)
• Jürgen (3/5): Mehr Schein als Sein - Gerry ist ein sehr netter und hilfsbereite Gastgeber. Die Terrasse ist sehr schön. Dusche sehr spartanisch. Zum Strand konnte man nicht direkt runter. Paar hundert Meter entfernt toller Strand mit paar netten Bars die aber leider um 18 Uhr zumachen. Super italienisches Restaurant zu Fuß über einen dunklen Weg zu erreichen. Ambiente von außen sehr abschreckend. Die Fotos und die Bewertungen entsprachen absolut nicht meinen Erwartungen. Schade!

• Fink (9/5): Erholsames Praadis - Sehr angenehme Unterkunft mit super Lage. Wunderbar zum schnorcheln und 100m weiter ist der meiner Meinung nach der schönste Strand der Insel. Personal ist super freundlich und hilfsbereit. war leider nur zwei Tage da aber es ist wild entspannt da :) Nur Kleinigkeiten. Klima war ein bisschen laut und es gab mehrmals Stromausfälle, aber immer nur sehr kurzfristig - ist was worauf man sich denk ich generell einstellen muss

Unfortunately, very serious construction work had begun on the nearby lot that seemed to take a long time. There was drilling all day and we couldn't stay at the hotel for a second to relax. Unfortunately, the air quality was also bad, and so we couldn't stay at the hotel because of the noise, but we also couldn't walk around the island. It was terrible. In addition, the room was very, very small and very simple. More suitable for one person than a couple. The owner of the place was very nice, but that didn't help the days that were ruined for us. Before you arrive - check if the drilling nearby has ended!

Outdoor bathrooms and showers are so cool. The bamboo deck is spectacular for early morning coffee or a late night beer. The owner and staff are very friendly and very accommodating. You can rent a scooter for 350 pesos and explore the beautiful island, take a short walk to Paliton Beach and watch the sunset, or dive the beautiful ocean. I dived with Sea Pearl Divers and also give them a 10!!!! Amazing week in Siquijor!!!! You too will fall in love with this Island!!!!

Waking up early morning and sipping coffee on the bamboo deck was one of the best mornings on our whole month vacation in the Philippines. I also enjoyed Merediths cooking a lot! :) The place itself is very beutifull and picturesque, located just a short walking distance to the Paliton beach. • Louis (10/5): Perfect: hospitality was incredible & views were incredible - Absolutely beautiful property with an amazing view of the ocean and surrounding beaches. So close to Paliton beach that you could walk 5 minutes and be right there. Stunning views and pretty sunsets from the bamboo deck. My favourite part was jumping from the bamboo deck into the water - really cool experience that you can’t get at most places!! Meredith & Gerry were the kindest people I’ve met in my 3 months of travelling so far. They bought a cake (free of charge) for my girlfriend’s birthday AND made us feel so welcome. They let us test drive a moped to get us comfortable and gave us endless recommendations for food, beaches etc etc. I would recommend this place and would love to come back. Nothing, it was perfect.
• Heide (10/5): Beautiful nature filled place, Strong internet (star link), solar panel no electricity interruption, (take note the whol - Home away from home, Gerry and ate Meredith makes our stay feel very comfortable and fun. The serene place surrounded by nature. Beautiful homey feels, Away from the loud street, the solar panel/generator let us work at any time of the day without any hindrance, VERY STRONG INTERNET! (Me and my friend work online, so this is a deal breaker) Everything that you need is in Balay kumbal. It’s such a beautiful place with amazing people! Gerry invited us on our first day to Mt. Bandilaan (feels so included right away) he gives us recommendations around where to eat and to party. On the other hand ate Meredith with her warm welcome provided my friend with ginger honey tea as she was coughing a bit. It’s like a small community filled with friends and family. I love here!!!! More reason to come back to siquijor. FYI you need to rent a Motor bike to explore siquijor, you can get it from Balay for a very reasonable price. Seriously! Everything you need is here. Nothing at all

What makes it even more special this time is that while the island’s dealing with major power and water issues, I didn’t feel any of that here. Solar power and Starlink kept everything running smoothly—no stress about heat, hygiene, or work. Perfect spot for digital nomads like me.

• La (10/5): The place is gorgeous. Only a few cottages so it never gets crowded. th owner and th manager made my stay as comfortable - The place is unique. A Jewel! You can access the sea via some steps and a ladder or jump if you are brave! :) Nothing at all.
• Julien (3/5): Disappointed by the facilities - The location and the staff were at par. The fact that we were locked out of the room on the first evening without anyone to help. The listing mentioned there was 24hr reception but was not the case. At 10pm there was nobody to help and nobody to call. Furthermore, the listing shown on your platform mentioned 1 queen bed and 1 twin bed. In reality, this was 2 (small) twin beds. So we also felt like this was an absolute lie.

Meredith and Gerry were truly exceptional hosts who made us feel completely at home from the moment we arrived. The accommodation itself was a dream—beautiful, cozy, and in the perfect location. We loved it so much that we actually came back just two weeks after our first visit! Meredith went above and beyond to help us with every request, always with a smile and such genuine care. Even when we had to switch to a different place for our final night (since they were fully booked), they still invited us to use the shared spaces and made us feel just as welcome. If you’re looking for a super cozy, laid-back place surrounded by the kindest people, Balay Kumbal is exactly where you want to be. Everything was absolutely perfect

Just a short 300m swim or 100m walk to Paliton Marine Sanctuary, and the bamboo deck offers a stunning 200° ocean view. This place isn’t just a stay—it is the destination.

There are also lot of friendly dogs roaming around in the hotel area. Our room had few cockroaches and a gecko but hotel is so close to the nature so I don’t think this could have been avoided.

• Riza (8/5): Gerry and Meredith were one of the best peeps in Siquijor. - Gerry and Ms. Meredith were the most accommodating resort managers that I have ever met. They made our stay there great. Ms. Meredith was very welcoming the moment we arrived and recommended where to eat for lunch because we were really hungry. She was always there when we need help. She cooked well too! Love her pasta! Gerry always asked how our day or tour was. He made sure that we were comfy with our accommodation and everything else that we need. There were many activities to do in Balay Kumbal but we just ran out of time so we were not able to try them. We'll definitely go back there. One of the best sunset spots in Siquijor. We were also lucky enough to see a rainbow while having our breakfast.
• Chris (10/5): Stay here! It's a wonderful place in Siquijor! - Awesome stay in Siquijor! The location is amazing ... right on the beach with steps down to snorkel in the sea. There is a marine reserve that is a good swim away (approx 200m) which was also good which can be reached from Balay Kumbal or a quick walk down to Paliton beach which is also within easy walking distance. They rent scooters which are a great way to explore the island as there are lots of lovely waterfalls... And also Tubod marine sanctuary (get a guide as you will get to see turtles). Restaurants and cafes are nearby and Gerry and Meredith are super helpful! Meredith also does a delicious Philippino banquet which brings everyone together for a wonderful communal dinner. Gerry was also amazing when we needed to change plans (severe flood warning where we were going) and incredibly our Plan B worked out a lot better than our initial plan due to his help and advice😊. The huts were clean and comfortable and we really enjoyed our stay here! Highly recommend

They did everything to make our stay unforgettable! The place is beautifully located right at the ocean with a big patio to watch incredible sunsets! Also it is in walking distance to the nice paliton beach & close to all restaurants & cafes by scooter. The huts were clean & comfortable and also hat AC & hot water (which is all not always common in the Philippines). We can only recommend staying at this wonderful place if you are in Siquijor!🧡 Nothing!
