- Denis (9/5): Lovely place to stay would book here again - Nice and clean comfortable all you need for your stay Nothing
- Collins (10/5): Jolly boys outing in York - Everything stay there every year a least once Nothing couldn't fault it
- Deborah (9/5): Excellent location for us, within easy walking distance of good shopping facilities. - The location is very quiet and tucked away. Lots of room in the property and suited our needs perfectly. I would have liked an oven, although I agree that an air fryer and microwave is adequate for a short stay.
- Paul (10/5): Stayed here a few times in the last few weeks. Would highly recommend it - Everything
A lovely place to stay Nothing. Everything was great about it
- Beverley (8/5): -
- Jamie (10/5): Beautiful place to stay and very peaceful and quiet -
- Clare (10/5): A perfect place to stay. - This was our second time here. A fantastic place to stay. Comfortable, private, cozy and ideal location. Will definitely be using again. Nothing
- Paul (8/5): - I might have struggled to find the keys, but our hostess kindly came out to help.
- Lauren (10/5): -
- David (10/5): Absolutely great property/clear communication from owner/ideal for York trip away - Quiet / clean/ Value for money in comparison to two hotel rooms needed/ location ideal for going into York centre and also the shopping outlets in area. Also local shops only a 2 minute walk from property. Tight driveway for large car is only slight issue to be found
- Neil (10/5): - Stunning felt like home so cozy and everything you needed was there There wasn't anything I didn't like
- Linda (8/5): - Love the location. The place to stay for visits to York. Spacious lounge area and very comfortable beds. When I contacted Benjamin before arrival he replied immediately. Can't ask for more.

- Clare (10/5): Excellent place to stay, will definitely return. - Loved the whole place. It was clean, welcoming, comfortable. Spacious and perfect for what we wanted. Loved that even though it was positioned at the bottom of a garden it was still very private. Will definitely book again. No oven to cook our very large pizzas but probably my fault for not reading the details properly.
- Jesús (9/5): Recomendable - Ubicación, limpieza, silencio. Nada
- Collins (10/5): Exceptional - Brilliant go every year Nothing
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Carol (9/5): Green Street Retreat, a great place to stay - beds were really comfy and all the property was set out well, we really enjoyed our stay. You let us in early and the lady that greeted us was amazing and very welcoming . Would definitely love to come again if you'd have us the microwave was dirty and smelt like curry , which I think it wasn't done because they were trying to get it done so we could get in. So totally our fault
- Sara (7/5): Good -
- Tony (10/5): Exceptional - the place was amazing. very clean, and handy for city center. Will stop there again.
- Steve (10/5): Nice location and accommodation excellent -
- Matthew (4/5): Disappointing - The keys were in a lock box at the entrance to the property.
Internet worked well.
Covered basic needs. Two adults and two children 11 & 16
Two nights stay.
Couldn't find any information in regards to parking.
So we parked in driveway and started to get keys, but the key safe fell apart.
Owner appeared (only time we saw or spoke) and he said he didn't know we were coming and was not ready for us even though we booked this over a week before and gave a TOA between 2-3pm and this was confirmed through the app, so we then had to go away for another hour for the owner to prep the property.
Please note that this property is at the end of a garden and you need to walk down the side path to get to it.
On the way are several sheds to one side that we guess are used/rented out to people as we met a few people retrieving things and so our stay didn't feel like it was very private at all for our children to play out side.
Inside..
strong smell of male body spray... ok we know he's just been in...but it was really strong.
No relevant information pack, information box was full of out of date leaflets and sheets on times to get to places..odd.
No information on the safety side of things or anything relevant to the property really.
Hairs in bed.
Hairs in bath plug and sink.
Fridge smelt.
It was clear that the property was cleaned in a rush.
Checked doors all locked first night..ok.. second night noticed the side door was unlocked after wed been out all day.
Wife freaked out, kids didn't touch the door.. odd.
We waited till we got to the next property before showering.
Couldn't work key safe to open it, tried several times be resorted to putting key through letter box and notifying the owner.
photos are as we found it.
- Zhuang (9/5): Superb - Very good location, very nice yard. I like harder bed
- Gill (6/5): Pleasant - Location was good. Beds were comfortable. I liked the sofas and it all felt quite cosy. All cleaning products had little left in them. It made me feel as if it were all rationed. There was an induction hob in the cupboard which would have been great, but only one very rusty pan was compatible. The microwave glass turntable didn’t fit properly. There was a hole in the floor underneath the rug in the kitchen.
- Darren (10/5): Exceptional - Very good Very good
- Linda (8/5): Acomb interlude - It's situation. Nice and quiet. The front panel of the cutlery drawer is a bit wobbly and looks about to fall off. Should be an easy fix though.
- Choi (8/5): Very good -
- Michelle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Linda (8/5): Very good - Liked it's situation. Very peaceful. Considering the arctic conditions that week in January the property was lovely and warm. Liked that it was a 5 minute walk for the bus into the centre of York.
- Katarzyna (10/5): Exceptional - Very good location.
House very clean and well-kept.
The owner is very nice
I recommend 🙂
- Gale (10/5): Perfect location - Warm and cosy and excellent value for money. Away from the hustle and bustle It was perfect
- Craig (10/5): York friends weekend - The location was really good, near Acomb village and it's amenities but easy to get into York too (£8 in a taxi back, took the bus on the way there)
4 friends shared the two rooms, 4 single beds and had plenty of space.
Free parking on site and friendly host. If I was offering ideas for improving the place, some more crockery (plates, mugs, etc) and cutlery would be good - there was enough but only just!
- Angela (9/5): Location right next to our family. The small town centre meant we didn’t need to go into York. Good bus connection i - Location. Nothing to not like
- Elspeth (10/5): Exceptional - The cabin was very nicely furnished, clean and roomy.we had everything we needed for our weekend.there is parking for a car and plenty of buses nearby to take you into the city. We had nothing to complain about
- Jessica (10/5): Excellent well priced accommodation - "We had a wonderful stay! The accommodation was clean and tidy, and the hosts were friendly and efficient, even allowing us to check in early. I would highly recommend staying here and would definitely stay again. Excellent value for money!" Nothing was all brilliant
- Helen (8/5): Very good - The location was good, easy to get buses into the city. Quiet location but shops not too far away. Clean and well presented.
- Orpen (9/5): lovely stay. - Good location, no traffic noise, local shops to hand. N/A
- Mairi (9/5): Superb - Lovely, clean and spacious with everything you need for a peaceful stay. Bus stop in to the city centre a few minutes away. Shops just round the corner for essentials. Nice big bed and comfy sofa to watch TV and relax.
- Jacky (8/5): Very good - A very cosy cabin with comfortable beds and everything we needed for our overnight stay. Exceptionally clean. Nice shower and plenty of hot water. Additional Heaters provided but plenty warm enough without needing to use these. Good free WiFi. Great communication from host.
- Syed (9/5): Superb - Location. Quiet. Clean. Easy to access. Mattresses were very firm. Memory foam mattresses would have been better. But maybe I am projecting an American standard.
- Caroline (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christine (8/5): Very nice break away, good to explore York at last. - Very good. I liked the property. I didn't realise it was a wooden lodge at the bottom of the garden but it was so private and quiet. I found it really special. Felt comfortable and relaxed. Great location for exploring York as buses either outside the property or a short walk away for a more direct route. I would be happy to stay there again. Nothing really, would of been nice to meet Benjamin and have a bit more info about check in.
- Catherine (9/5): Superb - Location was very close to where we needed... short walk to Acomb wher ther were a number of shops, cafes. Morrisons supermarket .Accomodation was modern , bright , comfy, well equiped and very clean .
- Lorraine (9/5): Met our needs for a work trip - Really comfortable. Warm and cosy. Beds are lovely Kitchen facilities need addressing. Wouldn’t be great for a family wanting to cook.
The shower is a trickle so ended up using the bath
- Paul (7/5): Modern chalet in a suburban garden - Comfortable and private, convenient for our needs Large US-style fridge, but no hob to cook on. Wasn't a problem for us as we only ate breakfast there, but seemed a little strange
- Collins (10/5): 4 friends from warrington - Lovely place stay every year Nothing
- Garry (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent property in a good location just £8.00 in a Uber in to center of York or get on a bus outside the property
- Francis (9/5): Superb location - Great location a short bus trip or drive into York, shops in walking distance, everything you need
- Zay (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michelle (10/5): The perfect stay - It was beautiful very comfy, clean and very quiet for us. Very modern everything we needed. Very comfy bed, my daughter loved the big bed all to herself. Lovely garden soon as you step outside. We had nice weather, could not fault it. Ben was very helpful if we needed anything. We liked everything about the green retreat.
- Karen (9/5): Superb - Lovely spacious accomodation nestled within greenery at the bottom of the garden.
- Rachel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Scott (10/5): Exceptional - Me and my family stayed here with our 2 kids and we would highly recommend it!! Fantastic cosy bungalow, fresh bright and clean. Plenty of space for the kids to run around and even 2 swings and a slide in the garden to keep them entertained. Only 2 miles away from the centre too. Fantastic place! Nothing. Everything was perfect.
- Jake (10/5): Exceptional -
- Erik (10/5): Good place to stay for York and Yorkshire by car - Had a great time here. Large supermarket (Morrisons) within walking distance. Bus stop just outside with some buses (check times in advance) that takes you right into the city centre.
- Sarah (9/5): Very enjoyable stay - The cleanliness and space Nothing
- Pickston (10/5): Perfect holiday 2 bedroom accommodation. - Location, accessible to public transport. Into the city.
On sire parking.
Lovely garden.
Extremely comfortable accommodation. Could not fault anything.
- Marianna (10/5): Great place to stay 😃 - Extremely quiet, such a relaxing atmosphere and lovely place to stay ☺️. Everything was ready and clean. The owners messaged us to make sure we were ok . We found it difficult to get an Uber (think it was just a busy time) so the next morning we hopped on a bus! (The bus stop to York was out the drive and turn right!) It only took us 15/20 mins and we were in York ☺️ £4 total journey for 2 adults and 2 children... MUCH cheaper than an Uber or parking ☺️ Nothing we didn't like.
- Sarah (9/5): Great property and excellent location - Very spacious, perfect location, kids loved the outdoor area. Lots of options for cooking, towels and bedding all clean and fresh. Ideal having shops so nearby and took a Uber into York for a reasonable price. Just a few home comforts and it would be perfect. Possibly some blankets or throws on beds for curling up on the sofa and some kind of milk, long life even for a cuppa on arrival.
- Kirsty (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely little lodge, very comfy with everything you need for a weekend.
Comfy beds, quiet location
The little oven is more than adequate. In a residential area so not much to do in the evening, but as a family this wasn't an issue.
- Gillian (9/5): Superb -
- Mary (9/5): Great find - Cosy, homely, comfortable and discrete with off road parking (rare in York). Made for a really lovely weekend, and so easy with the kids. Felt like it was well-looked after by the hosts, and so convenient for local shops and town bus. Hosts were friendly and replied promptly to questions. Great find!
- John (10/5): Fantastic little retreat - Pleased with location, the lodge itself was lovely with all facilities.
Host who's garden the lodge was in were also lovely.. Nothing all good
- Donna (8/5): Very good -
- Denise (6/5): Disappointing - Easy access by bus to get into york.
It was nice and quite at the location. Smell of weed when entering the gate area.
Smell of smoke in the bungalow.
Very cold in bungalow when first arrived.
Cobwebs in bedrooms, hairs on bedside tables, shower door dirty, work tops dirty kitchen appliances needed a good clean, flooring becoming shabby in places. Back door was unlocked on arrival never discovered this till bedtime. No live TV and no WIFI code. Having to walk through someones garden to get to the bungalow made us feel we were being watched.
- Shanda (8/5): Very good - Very comfortable beds . We went for the Christmas market and drove to the park and ride which was very easy to use We went on what was probably the coldest weekend of the year and the property didn’t have central heating and the main kitchen / living area and it was very cold , Ben was great and bought us freestanding heaters /blowers
Live tv would also have been great to watch with a cuppa before bed .
- Hannah (6/5): Nice location for a weekend in York - Great location outside York easy to get an Uber or the bus. Nice accommodation. Unfortunately the property had a musty cigarette smell in it. Would benefit from some air fresheners, also the only other thing was felt a little intrusive, as you had to walk through the owners garden to get to the bungalow
- Giblin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andre (10/5): The retreat to return to. - The privacy, the setting, the convenience, the layout, the cleanliness, the accessories, the comfort, the peacefulness. Just a couple of things that need consideration. The bath plug was difficult to remove and the microwave wasn't easy to operate.
- Jill (9/5): Superb - It was the perfect home from home for our trip to York. Great location, ideal for the kids and had everything we needed.
- Caretaker (9/5): Superb - Easy access and parking Nothing to dislike
- Collins (10/5): Mate's - Everything third time going to here Nothing very relaxing
- Sarah (9/5): Lovely little bungalow, lovely owners who messaged when needed. Gorgeous garden and privacy. - Lovely location, minutes from local shops. Quiet little village.
- Philpotts (10/5): Great family friendly property - The holiday home was perfect for what we needed (a base to travel into York from). It is extremely close to a bus stop and a short walk to local amenities in Acomb (including supermarket and bakery/cafe) and also West Bank park. We will be recommending to friends and family.
- Hasbe (10/5): Exceptional -
- James (8/5): Very good - Lovely Cottage. Great location. Smelled of stale smoke or recent painting. Needs some air fresheners. Lockbox not operator friendly .
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional - Great location.
Parking included.
Clean and comfortable.
Spacious and well equipped. . Nothing really.
- Tomos (9/5): Superb -
- Linda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tony (8/5): Not central to the city, but a pleasant stay. - Clean, pleasant quiet property. Comfortable beds making a comfortable stay. Close to a supermarket and other shops, with easy access to a bus route into York. Cooking facilities were a little basic, but four of us managed. There is no oven. It is a little far out for the city. We walked into the centre approx 30min.then caught a bus back.
- Tanya (10/5): Clean, comfortable and well equipped base for exploring the surroundings. - The property was lovely and clean and well equipped for our 2 night stay. The beds were very comfortable. My Mum, who is 88 years of age stayed with us and this property suited her as it was nice and flat and roomy. It was very quiet and had a lovely outside seating area too. Good location. Our plan was to visit York, and rather than driving in and having the hassle of parking we got a taxi for £10 each way for this location. Nothing!
- J (7/5): Good -
- Collins (10/5): Excellent - Liked everything would stay again been here twice already Nothing
- Mandy (10/5): great location and good price and a great host. - great location, clean and a great host. coming home
- Katie (9/5): Modern, very clean and comfortable bungalow. - We had a lovely stay at Green Street Retreat. We are a family of four two adults and two children (aged 12 and 9) and we had plenty of room. Kids had their own room (two single beds).Modern and spacious bungalow. Spotless. Comfortable beds, nice bathroom, big TV. About £10 in a taxi to Yorkminster, but was told there was a bus-stop outside that the hosts said went to town. Morrisons round the corner. Quiet and private. Small air fryer was handy for bacon butties in the morning. Good communication from hosts. Nothing. would have been handy to have an oven (but there was a job and microwave) if we were staying a bit longer, but for two nights it wasn’t a problem.
- Wood (8/5): Nice getaway - Lovely big rooms, handy parking and friendly hosts. First time in York and we were very impressed. Didn't like the smell of smoke, which lingered on our clothes after we left.
- Lissy (8/5): Excellent value for money for a quick family getaway -
- Tom (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely place! The best thing for us was how quiet and peaceful it was - perfect for a relaxing break. The 'apartment' is actually a small detached bungalow, very comfortable and cosy with everything we needed. Although it's at the end of the owner's garden we didn't feel any issues with privacy at all. Would love to come back one day. Nothing really, the location is about 1.5 miles from the city centre so not the most convenient for sightseeing (we were traveling by public transport), but that's the price you pay for peace and quiet! Slight smell of smoke as is often the case in these places.
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional -
- Struan (8/5): Very good - Very comfy and good for exploring York and surrounding area. Clean and well appointed with everything needed for your stay. Morrisons and an excellent Chinese takeaway very close indeed. It's in the host's garden so privacy could be seen as a bit lacking, especially when sitting on the verandah.
