Guest Reviews
- catepanda (1/5): PESSIMI!

We - From the outside the house looks quite nice, but the rooms are rather run down and definitely in need of maintenance. We even had to deal with a huge spider in the room, which was very unpleasant.
The host is kind and welcoming, and she likes to talk a lot – sometimes maybe a bit too much.
One serious issue was a small glass wall shelf that fell down. It was only attached with two worn-out plastic screws and was already unstable. We were charged 5,500 rupees for it, with the explanation that it was a “colonial piece.” This is simply not true – the shelf was definitely not colonial – and while of course we accept responsibility for damages, the amount charged was far beyond any reasonable value.
Another disappointment was the so-called “free airport transfer.” We confirmed in advance that we could be taken to the airport at 2 a.m., but when the time came, the host’s driver was not available. She ended up driving us herself and charged 1,500 rupees for a 7-minute ride. For comparison: our 50-minute ride from Colombo to the property had only cost 2,400 rupees.
Overall, the house has some charm and the host is friendly, but the poor condition of the rooms, the exaggerated damage charge, and the misleading promise of a free airport transfer left us with a rather negative impression From the outside the house looks quite nice, but the rooms are rather run down and definitely in need of maintenance.
- Juan (10/5): Basic but comfy and conveniently located near airport - Airport pick up and drop off service exceptional ! Friendly and responsive staff. I couldn’t spend enough time to admire the property
- Marian (9/5): Great stop for the airport - We only stayed for 9hrs, waiting for our really late flight.
The bungalow is about 150years old, & is full of quality old furniture.
The owner & her daughter, (& grandmother) were delightful. We were made 2 delicious meals during our stay.
Clean, comfortable room.
Free lift to the airport was a bonus.
- Iana (10/5): Exceptional - The family are so friendly, they picked me up from the airport and dropped me back, they arranged food and took me to see around. I felt totally as I visited my close friends or relatives. The room is big, clean and cosy, it's as a separate guest house actually and a part of amazing big Colonial house. Definitely recommended for visiting in Sri Lanka and for transfer, since the house is not far from the airport.
