Guest Reviews
- Dawn (9/5): Comfortable, well equipped and good value accommodation in good location. - Well equipped and cosy. The welcome basket with essentials like bread & milk was a nice touch.
Location convenient, liked the private off street parking. Nothing, everything was good.
- PAUL (9/5): A warm cosy place to return to after a day out. - This was a self-catering end-terrace house. Downstairs there is a combined kitchen, dining and sitting area with all the necessary kitchen mod cons and a large TV. Upstairs there is a double bedroom and another bedroom with 2 bunk beds and a bathroom. Each bedroom had its own TV. Access to an adjoining yard was via the back door. Street access to the yard via a gate provided private parking for our car. There was a generous welcome pack including butter, jam, peanuts, milk and a bottle of prosecco. nothing in particular.
- Diane (9/5): -
- Derek (8/5): Pleasant house, met my needs for a comfortable base whilst exploring the area - Quiet location away from the hustle and bustle of Berwick but still close enough to be near shops and facilities.
Modern contemporary styling with good standard of furniture and facilities.
The welcome basket was very generous
Off road parking was a bonus. I was a sole occupant so had plenty of crockery and cutlery, for a family of four I would have expected more than was provided.
- Sheila (8/5): We enjoyed our long weekend at Beach Walk and loved the area. We would certainly stay there again. - The location (5 mins walk from the beach)
The welcome pack (loaf, butter, jam, biscuits)
Secure parking, behind double gates on the property
Communication from owner
The modern shower/bathroom On a personal note, we like our hot drinks in a big mug but the cups were a bit small for us, so we bought a couple of big ones from the local B&M!
We would have sat out in the yard but unfortunately the garden furniture was unstable. However we reported this to the owner and she is to replace the table and chairs.
- Jeannieann69 (8/5): Worth staying. - It was quite. Three min walk to the beach and bus stop. Easy to get to. Reasonably comfy and warm. Problem with the TV sorted promptly. Minor things. No dishcloth, tea towel or tablets for the dishwasher. There was a bit of kitchen paper which was used to mop up a spill first day. Floor looked clean but a lot of dirt was wiped up as well.
Faulty light switch on the landing. It switched on downstairs but not off up stairs. A lot more could be made of the outside space, besides fixing the leak.
Bedding seemed old and worn. Pillows on the bottom bunk bed thin. Plenty of hot water but it turned cold last evening and would have liked a bit of heating on. Switched heating to on on the boiler, rads on, thermostat up but nothing happened.
- David (10/5): Great base to explore the borders, great beach for the family, lovely town - Perfect get-away, quiet, unobtrusive, near a lovely beach with nothing in the way of enjoying our holiday Nothing
- Petra (9/5): -
- Pak Nung (10/5): Wonderful - Very well organized
- Terry (8/5): - Comfortable living room and bedrooms. Garden table outside was useful Excellent location Very small tables to eat on inside
- Campbell (10/5): - Everything was fantastic 😊 location was idyllic, the accommodation was perfect I'm disabled and not great at walking so the stairs were very hard for me to tackle
- Daniel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gavin (8/5): Good happy time there and Berwick is a good interesting town. - Airy and comfortable. Good supply of essentials.. This was really my fault and when I booked it seemed as though there were pubs and cafes nearby. In practice we had to drive into Berwick. So perhaps a list of local pubs, cafes, etc might help.
- Catherine (8/5): Lovely house near beach - Location was ideal. We were visiting family and despite the rainy weather were able to visit the beach and spend quality time with our grandsons.
Off street parking was very useful, we parked up and didn't use the car again until we went home. Could have done with an information book, for using TV, heating, dishwasher etc.
- Margaret (9/5): Very pleasant property. Thank you for the food left for us on arrival, it was very welcome. -
- George (8/5): Very good -
- Annette (9/5): Lovely little place to stay - How close it was to beach and shops Nothing really very welcoming home from home
- Georgina (7/5): Great location , nice house with satisfactory amenities but a shame the garden was a mess - Pillows good
Wrapped towels
Welcome box
Nice layout
appreciated secure off road parking
Bunk bed very solid and quiet so couldn’t hear when people turning over
Would stay again especially if garden sorted Hall Light switch upstairs doesn’t work
Garden needs make over !!! lots of weeds and poorly maintained furniture ( broken and old )
Plant pot cigarette butts
Main Lighting in lounge too bright or lamps too dim
Extractor fan lights don’t work
On arrival Key safe left showing number so anyone could have entered the property
Bathroom extractor fan - not working / intermittent
Mattress on double bed lumpy and feel springs
Lounge chairs can feel springs and arm padding very thin could feel wood underneath
Bathroom mirrors installed by a giant could only see the top part of head ( I’m 5ft 5inches !!)
- Scott (8/5): Very good -
- Patricia (9/5): Superb -
- Des (9/5): A great spot. Hope to stay there again next year on our yearly May visit to see an old friend! - Brilliant location. The 'welcome pack' was great
- Matthew (9/5): Superb -
- Alistair (9/5): Superb -
- Aimee (8/5): Very good - Cosy house to stay in, great location. The welcome box was a lovely touch.
- Janet (8/5): Very pleasant! - The house had been renovated to a high standard and was very clean and homely. I like the way in which the towel bundles were presented. They had obviously been well laundered. The kitchen was super and had most things one could need. I loved being so close to the beautiful beach. The garden area was larger than expected and would be lovely in the summer. The parking really was not a problem and we have a very big 4 x 4. You just have to reverse carefully between the gate posts. Please could you put up some coat hooks? There is nowhere to hang coats and the wardrobe was quite small. A big problem with bulky winter coats. Some hooks as you come in (maybe instead of the shelves in the kitchen) and some on the backs of doors for dressing gowns etc. I would also have loved a dustpan and brush to clear up some of the sand we inevitably brought in off the beach. I could find the brush but not the pan. Getting out the hoover each time was a faff! The main bed had probably seen better days and the bed linen was a bit below par. I think this could have been smarter.
- Samuel (9/5): Superb -
- Sara (10/5): Exceptional - Nice and clean in a lovely area nice and peaceful Nothing
- Franks (8/5): Very good - Location was brilliant and homely place, the welcome pack was lovely too, can't wait to go back 😀 Nothing we didn't like!
- Mick (9/5): Loved it. Perfect for our needs - The house was perfect for our needs and perfectly located for sightseeing along the Northumberland coast. It was comfortable, clean and felt spacious with only 2 of us there. Loved the off road parking! A nice welcome pack with milk, butter, bread and snacks was lovely as were the clean, packaged towels. Nothing to complain about. We know the property has been well used over the summer and the owner intends freshening the place up ready over the winter months.
- Debs (8/5): Comfortable, cosy and had everything we needed. Just a few hundred meters from the beach. - Location was great for the beach and was on a local bus route.
A welcome hamper of food was provided as well as tea, coffee and milk which is always appreciated
Kitchen was well equipped A little bit time consuming to get into Berwick to catch other busses and trains, but I should've noticed that when I booked.
- Justine (10/5): Exceptional - We had an excellent stay at Beach Walk. It was really clean and comfortable and the welcome box was a really nice touch. Only a minutes walk to the beach. The off road park was also a nice bonus. We will definitely be back next year.
- Robin (10/5): Friendly and fun family holiday with home comforts. - Location excellent, 1 minute walk to the beach and 2 minute walk to the bus stop and local shop. Property was comfortable and has a homely feel, very relaxed there. Pleasant surprise that the basics such as bread, milk etc was provided. You could feel that the hosts wanted to make it feel special and welcoming. Nothing comes to mind.
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect for our stay ideally situated close to the beach and within walking distance of Berwick
- Rijnier (9/5): Superb - Everything was great Close 2 beach and clean
- John (8/5): Beach Gem - Excellent location, only few minutes walk to the beach. Comfortable and lovely welcome pack. Good base for visiting Bamburgh and Scottish Borders. We also enjoyed Chainbridge Honey Farm nearby Maybe a few recommendations of local restaurants and good takeaways. Also places to visit would be helpful.
- Wallace (10/5): Highly recommended holiday home - Great location, very homely and comfortable Nothing!!
- Turner (9/5): Fabulous stay, hope to be back! - The property was easy to find and info for checking in was easy to follow. Lovely to have off road parking and lovely sunny outside area.
The house was great, exactly what we needed.
Proximity to beach and bear claw brewery is brilliant! And wonderful for listening and watching the birds! A corkscrew would have been great
- Martin (10/5): Lovely coastal property - The location was ideal for walks into Berwick and coastal walks. The property was comfortable with off-street parking and a sunny courtyard garden to sit in. We liked it all. TV instructions may be a bit complicated!
- Victoria (9/5): Superb - Excellent location!
Lovely house. Really could do with some coat hooks (especially after heavy rain!) but other than that it is fab!
- Glyn (7/5): Comfortable, good off street parking, very close to beach -
- Tom (10/5): Wonderful stay and would definitely come again in the future - Everything. Exactly what the Mrs and I were looking for. Nothing to report.
- Lesley (9/5): Great stay at Spittal - It was a lovely property, very well decorated and modern. The towels were wrapped in cellophane so obviously fresh. Lovely welcome package a nice touch. So close to the beach too. Very quiet for a residential area. Nice outside seating area for warmer weather. Great tv although instructions were a bit too few for anyone not savvy! The gates were very tight to manoeuvre a large car when the street was full of parked cars, a couple of inches off the wall making a wider gap would be good. A booklet of nearby take always/restaurant/ places to see would be a bonus.
- Denise (10/5): Really lovely stay in a pretty town and near to the beach for walks and runs - Very cosy. Everything seemed very new. Sitting are and beds very comfortable. Well equipped kitchen Nothing not to like
- Jane (7/5): Good - no cork screw. no small veg/fruit knife.
no where to hang coats - perhaps put some hooks in little utility area near back door?
- Neil (8/5): Very good - Quiet location in a side street. Driveway and gates to securely park. Difficult to tell how to open a window? No leaflets describing the local area and features
- Isabel (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely cottage well equipped. Clean. Powerful hairdryer in bedroom. Plenty space for clothes. Comfortable bed. Nice welcome pack
Oh, and for anyone staying there the shop on Main Street does amazing homemade steak pies. Was a bit out of town, but it was a nice walk in or could get a bus. Host replies quickly to any messages Nothing
- George (10/5): Ticked all the boxes and we will be booking again - Ideal location for the beach and walking into Berwick upon Tweed
Secure parking
Comfortable, roomy and spotless
Liked the welcome pack. N/A
- Jennifer (10/5): Exceptional - The house is lovely, really well decorated with big rooms and is in very easy reach of the Spittal seafront. I'd definitely stay again.
- Simon (9/5): Superb -
- David (10/5): Exceptional - Great location close to the beach.
Spacious house.
Excellent value for money.
- Cath (8/5): Very good -
- Jennifer (8/5): Very good - Great location for exploring Berwickshire, handy and secure off street parking, clean, comfortable wee house with helpful communications plus generous welcome pack from Allison. Would be handy to have more places to hang and dry towels, coats - especially if wet weather like we had!
- Vicki (8/5): Lovely little house for our family break. - Spacious and easily accessible for places of interest There wasn’t anything we didn’t like
- Andrew (8/5): Very good -
- Nicki (2/5): We left early and asked for money back - Location Smelt due to flooding and stale cigarettes. Made my clothes smell
Tv temperamental and didn’t work basic channels
Toilet seat broken
Tiny bedroom with bunk beds
Back door handle and lock temperamental
Upstairs tvs not working
Wooden floor swollen due to flood and uneven- not good for my parents and potentially dangerous
- David (7/5): Ideal for our needs and the welcome pack of essential groceries was most appreciated - Centrally placed for all the attractions of Northumbria
- Stephen (10/5): Exceptional - Close and easy access to the beach and bus stops.
The hosts were always friendly and helpful "when I couldn't get to grips with the smart tv 🙄.
Easy check in/out.
Would definitely stay again. There was nothing to dislike during my stay.
- Fraser (9/5): Superb -
