Guest Reviews
- Krista (10/5): This was a beautiful respite at the end of a 2-week journey in Ireland. The staff was welcoming, kind, and caring and th - Gorgeous views, superb service! The hairpin turns to get to it.

- Sinead (10/5): -
- Carla (9/5): Overall it was excellent and I highly recommend the hotel - Gorgeous hotel Navigating to the rooms is tricky because of the way the hotel is laid out
- Colleen (9/5): I’d stay there again - The view Top of the hill had to take a cab the hill was too difficult to manage
- Shane (10/5): Will definitely stay again. - Buffet breakfast was superb
- David (10/5): - Had a very pleasant stay staff at hotel were very helpful and overall pleasant
- Philip (8/5): Enjoyable stay in decent hotel, but expensive. - Lovely bar/facilities. staff were helpful, welcoming and resolved an issue superbly Our first room smelt damp/had a noisy A/C unit. Avoid room 131. However we were moved immediately with little fuss and a better room.
- Fionnuala (8/5): - Great location, close to city but quiet and relaxed atmosphere. Hotel facilities were excellent and staff were fantastic. The apartment was uncomfortably warm, despite the heating not being on for the entire stay and we were unable to get hot water from either shower.
- Irene (9/5): Lovely individually styled hotel - Decor, location , room, facilities, staff all excellent Nothing
- Aivaras (10/5): -
- Marie (10/5): The best weekend break I’ve had in years - was there to celebrate my husbands birthday and the hotel made it so special. - Fantastic stay in this beautiful hotel. Staff were amazing every single one of them could not do enough. We stayed in the River Suites and would highly recommend they were stunning. 5* experience There is nothing I could fault
- norelli (5/5): Beautiful hotel apartments smelled mildewy - Is on terrace Card to room constantly broken
No compensation given for inconvenience until I asked for it
- Alison (10/5): -
- Brian (5/5): Great location, vibes and staff but room to improve - Very clean, super location and very friendly staff. The bedroom facing out onto the rear carpark was directly above a loading bay. Deliveries at 7am on a Saturday and Sunday morning moving pallets and trolleys - not great for guests.
Room service - better to not offer late night room service vs what was on offer. Apart from the fact it arrived cold, a basic toasted cheese was of a standard you wouldn't get in a budget cafe. €30 for soup and toasted cheese of that quality was insane
I had heard a lot about the cocktails but unfortunately poor. Bar staff making an old fashioned with basic standard Jameson whiskey, a margarita that wasn't made with lime and triple sec.
Lastly this was unfortunate timing, but the hotel clearly had been freshly painted, which is great and commendable. Unfortunately the fumes and smell was noxious and persisted in the bedrooms
I loved the location, staff were great, would like to stay again but value for money based on the room, food and drink would need improving
- Amanda (4/5): Disappointing. - Good location. Poor plumbing, staff disinterested and it was clear training was poor. Food disappointing.

- Andrew (10/5): -
- Beth (10/5): Stunning hotel with great restaurant and amenities - an exceptional value! - Absolutely beautiful hotel! Great perch high above the city (but still quite walkable to city center), wonderful views and a stunning "sunken garden". The restaurant was terrific for both dinner and breakfasts and the bar and terrace were lovely spots for cocktails. The place has great amenities though we didn't take much advantage as we were out and about in the city!

- Kamila (5/5): Not worth the money - Came to the Montenotte for my partners 30th birthday. Property looked unbelievable Upon arrival went to check in after4 o’clock just to be told that our room wasn’t ready so was given a different room instead which when I looked out the window had a view of a wall (thought that booking an executive room would have had a better view). Sent my partner to the bar while checking in so that I could set up the room and he was waiting to be served for a good 5 minutes while the bar staff were leaning against the bar having a chat. Only after one of them finally served him the other 2 jumped in asking him was he okay and was he looked after. Basically it felt like just because we didn’t dress up for check in we weren’t worthy. When walking into the room it wasn’t clean. The shower mat still had long brown hair wrapped around it. There was stuff on the floor and the mirror in the bathroom was dirty. I keep hearing the phrase “you get what you pay for”, with what the prices were for the location I expected so much more. Won’t be booking again.

- tardif (2/5): - Check-in process was smooth. Pillows, location, view.

- Sean (10/5): Staying in and enjoying the amenities was a highlight of our trip to Ireland. - This is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed. We went through all the amenities from the pool, views, movie, dinner and breakfast and it is 5 star quality. The staff is so kind and helpful. Loved staying here. Would come back Nothing was bad. It was all amazing.
- Holly (10/5): Stunning hotel with lovely staff - Beautiful hotel with lovely staff. Everything about this hotel is exquisite, from the food and drinks, to the room and facilities. The terrace is the perfect place to enjoy a cocktail and dinner in the Panorama restaurant was a real highlight. The staff couldn’t do enough for us during our stay. Absolutely recommend The Montenotte. The only small thing which wasn’t perfect was the spa/health club facilities were not amazing - the jacuzzi and pool are more leisure club vibes than luxury hotel, but still decent.
- Niall (10/5): -
- Christina (9/5): - Great location. Beautiful rooms. Excellent service. Would definitely recommend.
- Karen (9/5): Beautiful hotel, amazing location & facilities. A real treat! - Beautiful Location
Staff were professional friendly and helpful
Food in restaurant was beautiful, excellent service
Beautiful cocktail bar
The cinema is such a bonus
Spa was really lovely
On entering the hotel smells amazing
Easy to find parking
Decor is beautiful
Smeg coffee machine & kettle a nice addition to the rooms We stayed in a triple room on the bottom floor. While the rest of the hotel smelt amazing there was a distinct musty/damp type smell in the corridors on this level
- Dee (10/5): -
- Staudacher (8/5): - Tolles Hotel mit schönen Bars und Restaurant mit Ausblick. Sauna und Dampfbad sind nicht mit österreichischen Standard vergleichbar.
- Daisy (10/5): - Amazing warm welcome !!
- Michelle (8/5): -
- Eileen (10/5): - Everything, Nothing
- Christopher (9/5): -
- adrian (8/5): Enjoyable - Location Corridors need to be refurbished
- DEIRDRE (8/5): very relaxing and great pool gym facilities etc - Breakfast is very good and a large variety of food staff were excellent and very helpful It's expensive for an overnight
- Grainne (9/5): Should be a 5*- Amazing - Hotel was so beautiful, the terrace over looking the city is gorgeous. Also discovering the cocktail bar with a jazz singer after dinner was lovely. Having a movie night in the cinema was the cherry on top. The staff were incredibly nice, offering to help me carry drinks, bags, holding doors etc. so genuine too. We actually were shocked this hotel isn’t a 5* because it’s better than many 5*s we have stayed at. The swimming pool was too cold to get into.

- Amanda (10/5): -
- Ger (8/5): -
- Ronan (7/5): A classy place and location above Cork city is very special. - Great view over Cork.
Excellent pool and gym.
Sumptuous breakfast. Smells from drains in a few places not that nice.
- Christie (9/5): -
- Gary Dorman (10/5): -
- Onnig (9/5): - Ambience staff room Nothing
- Morag (9/5): Fabulous hotel with amazing views - Amazing property in an incredible setting, comfortable rooms, great staff, marvellous cocktails Buffet breakfast could have been hotter
- Dawn (6/5): -
- Max (10/5): - Great location, slightly away from the very centre on top on top of the hill. Very impressive feel as you arrive. Our room was amazing. The views, the food, the staff, just all so good. Nothing to fault and cannot wait to go back Nothing
- Erin (10/5): -
- David (9/5): -
- Liz (8/5): Excellent hotel - great staff - excellent food - Excellent breakfast. Clearly very well managed hotel - all excellent staff. Lifts out of service which necessitated staff moving luggage around for us
- Luca (10/5): - Direi perfezione su tutto Direi nulla sinceramente, credo sia il migliore albergo che in cui sono mai stato.
- O'Brien (10/5): -
- Emma (10/5): -
- ray (10/5): -
- Paige (6/5): - The hotel was updated, trendy and very clean! The baggage staff was also very friendly and the most helpful employees at the whole place. The layout was kind of weird (up and down stairs, with only one entry point), while elevators were out of service so you had to take the stairs and there was not very good signage on how to get to the room. We also got the vibe the staff did not like Americans. They were very short and unhelpful to us and other American guests but showed a more friendly behavior to others. We also called for ice never got it, and had to call three times to get the front desk to answer the phone for help with bags.
- Max (9/5): -
- Stephen (10/5): -
- Meena (10/5): - The Montenotte has a wonderful setting. It has a lovely terrace bar from where one can have beautiful views of the city. The staff were helpful, specially, Donna at the front desk.
- Gavrail Milushev (9/5): - The Woodland was amazing. The SPA was total disaster, dirty, old, destroying elements, people with vary bad hygienic habits.
- JEAN (9/5): Relaxing and good excellent - Breakfast was excellent ,staff were a bit slow on checking if guests required anything else once they'd been served Unfortunately a jar of coffee disappeared from our room. The reception staff replaced it but you do have you wonder if things going missing from rooms was a regular occurrence
- Stuart (9/5): -
- Sandra (10/5): -
- Karen (8/5): -
- James (10/5): The very best in Cork, should be a 5 star! - Everything was perfect. Staff were brilliant, accomodation superb. Well worth the visit! A mistake occurred with our evening meal. Management dealt with the matter professionally. We have no complaints.
- Sheilagh (8/5): Everything except the beds was brilliant. - The property is gorgeous. The dining staff were charming and attentive. The pool and gym were actually the best hotel facilities we’ve seen in a very long time. The in room coffee and tea options were fantastic. They had little shortbread biscuits to have with our Barry’s tea. So great. We also liked that we could connect with your own Netflix account. The mattress was quite hard as were the pillows. So while everything else was brilliant, I hardly slept.
- Caolan (10/5): -
- Joanne (9/5): Great location, luxurious hotel with plenty of free parking in cork city centre - Free hotel parking in the centre of Cork. So close to the main roads in and out but up a big hill (but good public transport) Excellent views and a lovely free art deco cinema Not much to comment on!
- Robert (10/5): -
- Tina (9/5): Fabulous - The grounds n the location was beautiful
- Andrew (7/5): -
- Brendan (10/5): -
- Tony (10/5): -
- Lindsay (10/5): -
- Amy (10/5): - We had a fantastic stay and honestly couldn’t have asked for more. From the moment we arrived, the staff were absolutely brilliant—warm, welcoming, and always happy to help with anything we needed. It really made a difference and gave the whole experience a personal touch.
Overall, we loved our stay and cant wait to come back again. Highly recommended if you’re looking for somewhere with great service and beautiful surroundings.
- Padraig (6/5): - The evening meal was disappointing cold no veg chips very poor Got a cock tail very disappointing could not drink on the other have the breakfast was 10 out of 10
- michelle (10/5): Amazing views, Amazing staff and an amazing place. - This hotel has everything and more, highly recommend not just for the incredible views of cork but the amazing staff and the food is sensational
- Uhle (10/5): -
- henry (10/5): Ken needs a bonus ! - From we walked through the door the staff took over .
Shout out to Ken, the doorman / concierge, missed him before we left , looked after us from start to finish.
Whatever you're paying that man isn't enough .
The staff looked after us from start to finish, even giving us water for a journey when leaving . Nothing
- Denis (9/5): -
- Niamh (8/5): - The views The price of the cocktails in the cocktail bar were outrageous. The place was empty and no wonder if the price of a cocktail was over €18
Pity because it was a lovely place.
- Guest (10/5): -
- Kayla (10/5): -
- Creaghlong (7/5): - Very modern lovely views We did arrive late our on fault but went down for food and there was no options available I do understand the chicken closing at certain time and not being able to have a proper meal but no food at all little strange we were given the wrong room I understand things like that happen but that did also delay us by half an hour we got there at 8 got our room at just after half 8 by the time we we got showered and changed food was over I know the staff were apologetic I know things happen witch is fine but still not acceptable for the price of the hotel did find one member of staff giving me an awful look when I spoke on the phone as she was dealing with another guest did make me feel as if I shouldn’t be there I am local from the north side of the city yes I sound common but I didn’t appecate the looking down on me
- Cremins (10/5): -
- Niall (9/5): -
- victoria (10/5): Fantastic - Staff very helpful
Amazing view on balcony
Great food N/a
- Tomasz (10/5): - This was a second time in the Montenotte and same as previously mentioned all was as expected
- O Toole (9/5): - Really nice experience at the hotel The room was extremely warm though
- Anne (8/5): -
- Daria (10/5): -
- Bartel (9/5): - The hotel was very cool and the view from the restaurant was amazing. The rooms were a decent size and worked well for what we needed. No dislikes.
- Cynthia (7/5): Beautiful hotel, but just short of a 5 Star experience. - Breakfast was good. Location was slightly away from the city center, but we had good walkable weather. There were many 5star resort qualities, but some just weren’t. My family stayed in the Woodlands. The room, clubhouse and the grounds were top notch. I stayed in the apts. They were convenient and nice rooms, but they were disjointed from the over all look for the hotel. The current bathtubs are very high to climb in, and extremely narrow to stand and turn in. I can’t imagine a larger person feeling comfortable or safe in them. I do understand that you are redoing the rooms, but my room was tired looking. The pool and amenities were not up to the standards being presented either. They were just not in line with the rest of the facility. When the lobby, grounds, restaurant and bar give the appearance of top rate, my room was a disappointment. I felt like I was having two different experiences. My family was taken immediately and checked into the rooms, where my room had a 4 PM check-in. I was called at 4:23 to say that my room was ready. So, I was a bit disappointed that I couldn’t get in slightly early or even on time. The restaurant menu was interesting but a bit limited. After two nights of eating there if I had another night to stay, I probably wouldn’t go back. We did enjoy the movie theater as it was a sweet surprise. It sadly was not up and running the 2nd night due to technical issues. Overall I would rate it 4 stars, coming up shy of what will most likely be a 5 once your more cost effective rooms are made over.
- Thomas (9/5): Luxurious hotel with great view - Spacious and clean rooms, nice view, delicious breakfast and room service, great bar and spa, friendly and helpful staff. Showers could be better, especially the water pressure. But staff is already addressing this issue.
- Freya Lovie (10/5): - Lovely hotel in a great location, amazing restaurant That the executive room didn't have a bath
