• Michael Coville (10/5): Wonderful. - Owner was hands on and with staff provided a wonderful getaway experience. They were a real difference maker compared to similar facilities. Breakfast included was especially good. Also great common area to mingle with other guests.

• yuri (10/5): Great stay. - Great location, big room, nice breakfast. The owner was very helpful and informative, we were able to use the refrigerator and coffee maker in the common area. The lodge and decorations are very cozy and homey, nice balcony with views. We would love to stay here again. N/A
• Austin (10/5): Super clean, friendly, great views, will stay again and have already recommended. - First Settlers Lodge was cleaner than every Hilton or Hampton I’ve ever stayed in. The rugs were clean, the bedding was clean, even the walls were clean.. but exceptionally clean.. everything looked like it could be new. The staff was super nice. They have a restaurant inside which we didn’t have the opportunity to eat at this time but it smelled so good and we will be there next time!
• Malcolm (9/5): we would definitely stay here again! - breakfast was cooked to order and the choices were broad, food was very good although the fried potatoes were a tad "hard" but otherwise excellent, service was wonderful, personable owner, very helpful in all areas. Beautiful view, large roomy accommodations. Very happy with the weekend stay. Very large homey common area with fireplace, games, a kitchenette with coffee and refrigerator. the steps to our room were very steep which we hadn't been aware of prior to booking, we are elderly and would have booked a room on the main floor had we known. Two of us in a room for three nights but just one set of towels, we would have liked an extra set, which would have been provided if we asked for them so it's not really a complaint. No refrigerator in the room, but one was provided down in the kitchenette - which is fine for the young healthy residents who aren't up a steep set of stairs but for us it would have been nice to have a mini fridge in the room.

The room was super clean and comfortable. Alex was so professional and suepr easy to talk with. This places is highly recommended when visiting north Maine. ...and the food, yummy!!!! Kudos to the chef! I loved every minute spent in this place, highly recommended.

• Allen (10/5): Had such a wonderful stay at the Settler’s Lodge - The staff was very personable and friendly. The lodge was really nice and a beautiful Christmas tree was put up during our stay. Room had a beautiful view of the mountains and forests. During a Winter storm during our stay, the staff made sure to check in with us to make sure all was ok and check our needs; they plowed the drive and even cleaned snow off our car. Great place, great people…we will definitely be back. N/A

• Mark (10/5): Wonderful and different experience. - Beautiful remote location. Not like a hotel, motel, apartment or resort; rather a different and refreshing experience. Wonderful building. There is a very relaxing aura about this place. I will consider using it as a restorative retreat. Best stay on our road trip by some margin. Lovely breakfast. There was a guitar available in the lodge common area. Nothing really. Unfortunately for us at the time the restaurant was closed for some restoration work while we were there, but this was obviously short term - it was due to reopen the day we left.

• Marty (9/5): A stunning mountain getaway - A "rustic-ish" but still up-to-date and comfortable lodge in the rolling hills, with beautiful quiet views of the surrounding countryside. But note that if the on-site dining room isn't available when you're there -- as it wasn't for me -- the nearest food is about a half-hour away.

• Arlene (10/5): Perfect stay, perfect location and perfect hosts. - The lodge was beautiful. Situated in an ideal location with a spacious front porch facing a perfect sunset. The room was spotless and very comfortable. Alex greeted us and right away we felt at home. In the morning we had a choice of home cooked breakfast that was delicious. We hope to return someday.

• Richard (10/5): Wonderful time in the country - Property is in a great location, only minutes from East Grand Lake. Views are great, can see the lake and Mt Katahdin. Very clean, decorated perfectly for a bed and breakfast style place. We were in the Lake view room which was huge and had a balcony. Bed was so comfortable and it’s in the country so it gets dark. Alex, the owner is such a friendly host. Each breakfast is made to order, no runny scrambled egg buffet here. Would recomend to anyone. Don’t have any complaints.

It was my fault for showing up 15 minutes before breakfast was over. Nothing really. Alex did a great job of getting us in and checking with us to see if anything was needed.

The restaurant was also good. Food and atmosphere was excellent. The staff were very friendly. There is not much bad to say about this inn.

• Steven (10/5): Simply an amazing lodge with an amazing staff. - I was only in town for a few days and as soon as I checked in I was greeted with a smile and given a tour of the lodge. I was also asked what time I’d be headed back out to work in the morning so that they could have a breakfast sandwich ready for me. Such an awesome place and the views are spectacular. Will definitely be going back.
