Guest Reviews
- Charlotte (8/5): Was a lovely location, well stocked stay and was very peaceful in the area. Definitely recommend, was a lovely place to - It was so central, lovely view of York Minster but you couldn’t tell from the noise. It was so lovely and peaceful! And was well equipped for cooking and games for rainy days if needed. We played cards on the balcony one evening in the sun and it was perfect! The balcony doors were tricky and one didn’t open the whole time we were there. We had issues with the front door not opening from the street even though the code was correct, we entered through the car ‘back’ gates instead and that worked fine!
- Ian (9/5): Excellent accommodation for exploring the city - Location excellent and property comfortable for our group of u adults
- Carol (10/5): Beautiful, comfortable home we hated to leave. - Excellent location, communication, and very comfortable home - we hated to leave! Slight heating issue that was quickly resolved.
- Donna (9/5): Beautiful property - The location was excellent with a stunning view of York Minster. We loved the balcony too. The house was spotless and the rooms upstairs were more than adequate with enough mirrors, coat hangers and good hairdryers. The beds on the ground floor could have been better quality. The mattresses were ok but they squeaked every time you moved. The pillows were quite firm and the kitchen had some essentials but no salt.

- Katie (6/5): Get a good cleaner and it would be excellent. - Location is excellent, the size is more than adequate. Modern bathrooms. The property in general was good but unfortunately let down by whoever cleaned it before our arrival. We were told the property was available for us to go into early which was great but then why not spend the extra time giving the place a proper clean. The carpets need cleaning, the showers have black mould at the bottom, the fridge has crumbs accumulated in the edges, the cold water and ice dispenser had mould on it. Toilet roll only lasted 2 days. Layer of dust on the headboard and above the extractor fan in the kitchen. Sofas in the lounge have old lollipop sticks and crumbs in them. All this is such a shame because it’s a lovely property. One last thing to add would be the balcony needs sweeping as it has a layer of moss and leaves etc.
Also there is no sweet welcome bread basket that they put on the photos it’s a bag with tea/coffee bags and long life milk.
- Karen (9/5): - Excellent stay and wonderful to be so central in York, but in a quiet location. Beautiful views of the Minster.
- Tracey (10/5): - The best location I’ve stayed at in York. So convenient right in centre. A lovely house, well equipped and very comfortable. Nothing
- Jan (9/5): We lived our stay in a beautifully decorated house, lots of space and the owner was super friendly and helpful. All info - Beautiful home, clean, spacious in the perfect location for exploring York Only slight niggle was a slight drain smell in the Kitchen area
- Janine (10/5): We had a fab weekend thanks. The accommodation was wonderful and the whole process great. - The location was excellent and very comfortable. Only ten minutes from the train station. Very impressed.
- Krista (10/5): - Excellent location. Exceptional details.
- joanne (6/5): We really enjoyed our stay just stepping out of the appartment into the middle of York what a fabulous city! - The location was amazing and it had parking. Fantastic space and lots of potential. The property was cold, the bathrooms were warm but it was freezing everywhere else I had to buy a hot water bottle. The kitchen drains smelt even though we bought some bleach for them could not get rid of the smell.
- SARAH (10/5): Bags of space slap bang in the middle of York! - The property itself was wonderfully presented. Lots of spacious rooms. Beautifully decorated.
- MESHAL (10/5): Excellent accomodation in the heart of Reading - Excellent and clean appartment / house in the heart of Reading , we really enjoyed staying there , the beds were comfortable , the kitchen were fully equiped , the staff/ agents were responsive and attentive , i strongly recommend it for families , will diffanetly come again . The check in procedure a bit complecated, need to be simplified
- Cheryl (10/5): -
- Jane (10/5): Ideal location, in stunning property with parking in centre of York! - Very central location, lovely terrace with views of the Minster. Beautifully furnished. Ideal for group holiday. Entrance to parking a little tight but doable.
- Pat (9/5): Fabulous location - The location was amazing, so close to the town, yet secluded and quiet.
- Jane (10/5): Exceptional -
- Louise (9/5): Superb -
- Amanda (10/5): A really lovely stay - The location was absolutely perfect. It was in the heart of the city but very very quiet and private. Generally very clean. Parking centrally is a huge plus. We had to take a small car and measure the drive/gate prior to arrival. It is very narrow but great with passenger seeing you in.
- Denise (9/5): As above - Location, cleanliness and overall a lovely apartment
- Nancy (8/5): Nice location and beautiful property - We didn't have to collect keys. We had key code entry. We had trouble finding the entrance and getting into the property. The first gate is old and rusty and needed to be moved both manually and by the electronic key code which wasn't clear from the instructions. The instructions talk about the second gate needing some manual movement but not the first gate. Four different people tried to open the gate. A photo of the entrance would be very helpful in finding it. Perhaps a photo of the manual parts of the gate needing to be moved would help too. We wondered if you tried to find this place at night and opening the gate in the dark would be very difficult. The gift basket was so nice and had some very yummy food items!
- Stephen (10/5): A gem in the heart of York - Location was amazing! Very well equipped, plenty of space. Maybe we just didn't find the information to enter through the courtyard door out to the street (not talking about the front door) - but it was a little annoying walking round to the car entrance to access the courtyard. Not a real issue at all, and may be a security reason.
- Jemma (9/5): Overall a lovely stay, would return - Lovely property, central. Great view of the minster. Comfortable beds and sofas. It was a little cold even having adjusted the heading, the kids complained they felt cold too
- Adrian (9/5): Superb - Fantastic location really great feeling about the apartment.felt very secluded in a busy area.
Definitely would return for another break and would recommend to family and friends.
Well equipped everything you needed for your break.
Summer would be fabulous to sit on the outside area
- Mario (10/5): Exceptional - Ideal setup Wasn't provided with passcode to external door to street, should be advertised to guests , only give double gates to enter with car.
- Phil (10/5): Excellent apartment and location perfect stay and lovely goodie bag - The location was excellent and bonus of car park space Lights between the gates was difficult to see to input code in the dark
- Patricia (10/5): Location plus comfort, we loved this fantastic apartment! - The location is fantastic, steps away from York Minster, with a parking spot! Clean, comfortable bedrooms and bathrooms. Well stocked kitchen and a fantastic welcome package! Nothing
- Sheila (10/5): Beautiful apartment in centre of York , adequate space for 5 adults staying . - Lovely decor inside and easily accommodated 5 adults . Close to town centre walking distance to cafes, restaurants ,Shambles and other attractions. Lovely to hear the bells of York Minister every day.
Good to have a car parking space however entrance is narrow.
Very kind of hosts to leave a fantastic welcome pack. Was very difficult to find in the dark with check in at 4pm and the heavy traffic in that area. Entrance to back of building not easily seen and had to call the office for assistance. As a previous review said it would be very useful to have a picture of the entrance via gates given within the check in information. As very stressful finding property.
Heating was an issue upper bedrooms, bathrooms warm but living room/ kitchen area cool despite increasing thermostat to maximum. Maybe that’s why there are several throws over the living room suites.
Lastly as several previous reviews stated the twin beds are very noisy when person turns or moves at all in bed leading to disturbed sleep. Also this room being on lowest floor was also cold.
- Jerryjenifer (10/5): Wonderful Location and Very Comfortable - This apartment is in an awesome location. It was clean and our family of four had plenty of room to spread out. We all found our rooms to be comfortable and the washer/dryer was very much appreciated. We loved the view of the minster from the primary bedroom. We also felt very safe with the security gates surrounding the property.
- Vanessa (10/5): Excellent. - Lovely, clean house. Nothing.
- Becky (10/5): Exceptional - The location of the apartment is great !. A minute walk to the minster, and rive from the university from the university.
So close to shops bars and restaurants. Could not have asked for more.
Blake Mews was clean comfy and had everything and more that was needed. The parking space was a massive bonus and the help and communication from the owners was top.
I would highly recommend especially for those who may need somewhere to stay for a graduation in York. Nothing. The apartment exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend.
- Malone (10/5): Perfect - A wee bit difficult navigating three difrent codes to get in
- Alan (10/5): Excellent accommodation in an excellent central area. - We liked just about everything about our accommodation. We did not need the car whilst we were there as we could walk everywhere we wanted to go. The standard of the apartment was first class and had everything we wanted. We couldn't find fault with anything. We had a couple of queries prior to our stay, both of which were sorted over the phone very easily.
- Michele (10/5): Pop perfect property, in a perfect location - Excellent location and great facilities. Felt very safe and secure. Beautiful property We were given wrong access codes and details by booking.com and needed to call the emergency contact number
- Kim (10/5): Luxury well maintained property in a central York location - Proper well maintained and had everything we needed in a perfect central location Nothing
- Sophie (10/5): Absolutely beautiful place and surroundings, high standard. - The location was absolutely incredible, right in the town centre, great view of the minster and we had parking! The description of the black gates location was very well written but, as its a little bit obstructed by trees, a picture might also be helpful?
- Rachel (9/5): Superb -
- Eleanor (9/5): Fantastic location and very comfortable base for a family city break. - Fantastic location, very central. Comfortable property, very nicely designed and fitted out.
Handy to be able to park a car onsite. Check in instructions inaccurate and incomplete.
It talked about property key in lock box and gave code for lock box. In fact it was a keyless property. I had to phone agency to clarify that and also get code for pedestrian door on Blake Street.
The person I spoke to Emily was very helpful and
quickly provided the right information and code for Blake Street. Hopefully the instructions will be amended for others.
Mattress a little soft.
- Yvonne (9/5): Lovey stay in centre of York - Superb location in centre of York for you to walk everywhere.
Taxi rank outside back entrance of property if you dont want to walk to train station.
Very well presented apartment with good room sizes. Kitchen had plenty of utensils etc for everyone.
Extremely secure Parking for 1 car which was a bonus in centre of York.
3 double rooms with 3 bathrooms although only 1 ensuite but essentially all bedrooms get a bathroom!
Very quiet as within a small courtyard at back of the mews so no traffic noise whatsoever. Would have been a 10 if absolutely perfect but marked down as follows which I have been quite fair with.
1. No keys for front entrance of mews which goes out into main street. You can leave the mews this way but to get back into the mews area you have to go via back entrance through 2 security gates. Which if on foot is a bit of a faff.
2. The twin beds - whilst the mattresses are comfortable the bedframes are metal which means every time you move you hear the frame noise which is quite loud and meant we woke up a few times. Perhaps the frames need to be tightened?
These types of bed look nice but can be noisy.
- Lorraine (6/5): Pleasant -
- Jill (9/5): Fantastic property will definitely rebook and recommend - Very clean and modern, excellent location Would have liked a key to the front door instead of gates
- Victoria (10/5): A fabulous furnished and presented property in a perfect location. - Great location right next to the Minster. Beautifully furnished and well equipped property. Three double bedrooms with en suites for 3 couples but otherwise we all loved it. One couple got the short straw for the twin room.
- Nigel (8/5): Very good - Great location, well equipped and very clean Heating was a bit difficult to control. Couldn’t get the heat off in the bedroom at all
- Nova (8/5): Stay was cut short due to member of family poorly , but overall a lovely stay and property - Location excellent
Lovely apartment
Tastefully decorated
Clean & comfortable Description of arriving at property very confusing if on foot , having to go through 2 security gates when had no car to drive in . Entry into properties main door also confusing with pin entry not as stated so had to call office
