- Nkole (7/5): - We arrived early, around 8 a.m., and our check-in was at 14 o'clock. They kept our bags and the manager there was very helpful and we got to check in at 12:00 instead of 14 o'clock, which was very nice.
The two managers at the front desk were the bessssttt till the end.
He even checked on us after check out while we were waiting for our transport in the waiting area to ensure that we were okay and if our transport was sorted.
He was the best
The security guard outside was also the best and helped us a lot. The sheets were not changed, and the pillow cases were dirty. The bathroom had a fowl smell, so we had to always keep it closed to contain the smell.
The housekeepers had problems speaking English, so we could not understand each other.
They perhaps wanted to change the sheets or take out our garbage, but we had a language barrier.
The only thing we could make out is when they said water.

The breakfast options were quite limited. On some days, omelettes were not available even when requested. When certain items ran out, it often took a long time for the staff to replenish them. Additionally, there was only one type of protein offered—typically a single chicken dish—making the selection limited.

It was chaotic from beginning to end - the staff cannot manage simple tasks such as check in or getting room assignments without multiple people being involved, which takes so much time. Our rooms were not very clean, and the head of housekeeping was very disruptive and disrepectful to customers and his colleagues at front desk. It seems there is no co-ordination between front of house and house-keeping. The breakfast buffet was poor for a 3 star hotel and insufficient for the number of guests so many things ran out quickly.

Quarto indisponível na hora do check in por motivos de arrumação tardia, falta de empatia nos funcionários, sem toalhas no quarto das 14h às 19h mesmo tendo sido solicitadas insistentemente e sem esclarecimento algum, estacionamento normal sem privacidade, estacionamento privativo com acesso burocratizado (papelada), quarto sem isolamento acústico, ouve-se ruídos dos corredores e quartos vizinhos.

There wasn’t enough parking. The water pressure was very low. The breakfast wasn’t of good quality. The rooms were dirty . The cleaning staff were constantly delayed with putting new towels - sometimes they only provided new towels at 11 pm at night. The wasn’t toilet paper when we arrived and the shower drain was clogged - they unclogged it and left all the debris in the shower. The toilet paper holder was broken. Attention to detail and hotel level service is not evident here.

Ended up having breakfast elsewhere because it wasn’t enough food for everyone on the hotel. The service on the restaurant was bad.

When we checked in our room had not been cleaned - we even had to go to reception to request toilet paper and for the room to be cleaned. It took 3 trips to the reception for any action. For breakfast we had to wait 20 mins to be served and none of the staff seem interested in helping you. The hotel is very lovely but the staff and service is extremely disappointing

- Tony (7/5): It was a conflicting experience. - My stay at the Otia Hotel presented a truly conflicting experience, defined by striking contrasts between the hotel's excellent physical amenities and its severely lacking service infrastructure. Based on the quality of the accommodation and its competitive pricing, I ultimately rate the stay a 4/5, but prospective guests should be fully aware of the service trade-offs.
From the moment you approach the main entrance, the hotel impresses. The building is handsome, well-maintained, and set around a lovely, manicured patch of lawn. The general layout and lobby area are clean and aesthetically pleasing.
This quality extends into the guest rooms. The rooms are spacious, beautifully finished, and feel genuinely high-end. I particularly appreciated the excellent water pressure and reliable hot water, alongside the high-quality bedding and pillows, which guaranteed a comfortable night’s sleep. Conventionally located close to the city center and offering safe and secure parking, the hotel is an ideal base for travelers concerned about vehicle safety. Unfortunately, the experience was significantly marred by the poor quality of the staff and management service.
The first major issue was the check-in process, which proved to be a nightmare. It involved an unnecessarily complicated retrieval of my Booking.com reference and a protracted negotiation to confirm the room rate. It left a deeply negative first impression. Throughout the stay, I found staff to be unhelpful and management equally unresponsive to issues.
Room cleaning was another point of failure. It felt rushed and inadequate after check-in, suggesting a lack of attention to detail and a low priority on ongoing room maintenance.
The most significant operational failure was the restaurant and the breakfast service, which was easily the worst I have encountered at a hotel of this caliber.

Assim que falamos que tínhamos uma reserva no booking, disseram que estão esgotados e que o aplicativo estava com problemas, e que deveríamos ir procurar outro hotel na cidade, tudo de uma forma nada profissional. Eram 2h da madrugada, estávamos exaustos e fomos atendidos pessimamente. Não foram cortês não apresentaram soluções. Claramente não queriam dar prioridade a clientes do booking, pois, havia uma conferência na cidade de Maputo e de certeza que a procura de hotéis era muita.
Viajava com a minha esposa, e não era a primeira vez a escolher o Otia Hotel, mas de certeza que irei ponderar na próxima vez. Funcionários rudes, nada profissionais, e atendimento despachado para clientes vindos pelo booking. Muito a melhorar

- Thandi (5/5): - Rooms were clean and our kids enjoyed the swimming pool. We made reservations and we paid 50% of the account two months before the travel date. When we arrived at receptionist, they said we did not pay anything. We sat in their reception with our learners for 4 hours withou being allocated any rooms. At 22:00 they gave us 13 out of the 20 room we have reserved. That was the worst experience ever.

During our first stay, we already faced major problems:
• We were not allowed to check in early despite rooms being available, unless we paid for an extra night.
• The breakfast service was nonexistent – there was no butter, jam, cheese, or even bread available for two days. We were told that your supplier had been delayed, leaving guests without basic breakfast options.
We accepted these inconveniences once, assuming it was an isolated issue. Unfortunately, when we returned for our second stay on the 14th of October, the situation was far worse:
• We checked in close to midnight after a long flight, but the power went off only 15 minutes later.
• My husband became trapped in the lift for over an hour during the outage.
• I had to walk down nine floors (from room 905) to get assistance. Staff initially lied, claiming the power failure was citywide, even though all other nearby buildings had electricity.
• Only after continuous complaints was the generator activated.
• Our room was also in poor condition, with stained carpets, broken pillows, and loose door handles.
Adding to all of this, we were shocked to learn that your hotel falsely reported to Booking.com that we never showed up, which appears to have been an attempt to avoid paying commission or taxes owed to Booking.com. This is completely unacceptable and constitutes dishonest conduct toward both your guests and Booking.com.
Given the repeated service failures, safety hazards, poor hygiene, and fraudulent reporting, we demand a full refund for our stay. We also request that this false “no-show” report be corrected immediately with Booking.com.
Please confirm receipt of this message and let us know when the refund will be processed.

- Melanija (1/5): Dissapointed! Not sure I’ll ever choose it again! - Good hotel, nice spacious rooms and appartement. Obviously a lot is invested in comfort of rooms. Restaurant is deeply behind the level of rooms; it functions and looks like lower-class workers’ canteen.
Staff undermines seriously the level of facility itself. Reception staff too slow and confused.
After being 10 days using 2bed rooms appartment I peronally reserved 1 additional night appartment for family. Got confirmed and paid in advance, but the day of check-in it was not available. Lost 3 hrs to solve the accomodation in lower room quality
Restaurant staff, espec.waiters unprofessional, unproperly dressed in personal clothing - no uniforms, used tables not promply cleaned (impression of uncleanliness).
