Guest Reviews
- Fang Tzu (8/5):
- damien (10/5): Magnifique - Tout L’accès à Tomamu
- Ayaha (6/5): -
- Cameron (9/5): Nice view of the mountain - The rooms look great and the idea to provide the dinner and breakfast meals for you to cook yourself is really novel and creative.
On the morning I checked out, a male member of staff saw me about to walk to the ski resort with all my bags and ran out to offer to drop me off and that was very kind and made a big difference to my day. (They do have a shuttle service but I was leaving earlier than the scheduled time.)
- Ton (7/5): - Mooie locatie, en goed uitgeruste tent Geen wc in de tent.
- Anthony (10/5): Exciting, different, joyful and unique - Nice and homely, staff were really nice & made it an overall fun experience.
- Janelle (10/5): A wonderful experience for our family, glamping in the snow! Absolutely loved it! - This was our last night in Hokkaido and we could not have spent it a better way! We skied all day at Tomamu and then checked in to the glamping igloo. The room and bedding were pristine. So much food provided in the fridge if you have booked full board. You need to walk to the shower and the toilet, however having used shared facilities before in Japan we didn't find this to be inconvenient. There is not a market nearby, so take any additional food & drinks with you if you don't have a car. Easy access to Tomamu skiing - 5 mins by car. We loved this experience!
- Shu Ting (8/5): -
- motomura (5/5): -
- chan (9/5): It was a good experience and still recommended. - It’s beautiful and a good staying experience. Staffs are very helpful and response promptly. Location is good, 5mins drive to tomamu ski.
Food are good. It was very cold outside and we were having warmer inside, there was water dropping everywhere in the room, it drops on beds, food…etc. This would need to be improved.
Need to share bathroom and toilet.
- TAICHI (10/5): -
- zhaoye (10/5): Excellent place and good service. Nice kind staff. Delicious food. - Good locations. Beautify scene. Service good Maybe more toilets and open the door to enter the main building earlier 😭
- Ean Kiam (4/5): An expensive and unpleasant experience with a lady staff on day 2. - Unique design Toilet and shower facilities are outside. A staff was very rude when I unknowingly wore the house slipper to the main building toilet. She shouted to me :” this is Japan. If u don’t follow the rule, you will need to leave”. No customer service at all!
- Chan (8/5): -
- Chee Chew (10/5): - Nakayama San made our stay very enjoyable! We stayed two nights and she prepared different menu for each day. Wonderful to have Nakayama San in the property
- Okamura (8/5): -
- Kana (7/5): -
- Tomoko (8/5): - BBQ
- Gek (7/5): Acceptable but would be great if washroom & toilet could be within the room - The food provided for breakfast & dinner were in large portions. The bathroom & toilet facilities were not in the room. Dinner is BBQ everyday and could be boring for ppl staying for more than 2 days
- Ai (10/5): Good experience - Tent is huge with 4 single beds and don't feel clamped inside though there are many furnitures in there.
Include BBQ dinner (beef only and hotdog, no pork or chicken meat(sad)). Some potatoes, green pepper, onion, mushroom, cheese, mesh mellow. Pot of pumpkin soup and bread, butter, cheese, yogurt for breakfast.
There are some toilets and 2 bathrooms at the office. Board games are also available to bring out to the tent.
Need to take a time slot for shower. Shower room can hold 4 pax.
5mins drive to Unkai Terrace to view cloud. Reached at 5am, waited for 30mins for the cable car. Typhoon expected and was raining on the night we stay, unable to see the cloud the next day morning. No shoes inside the pod or office. Remember to bring your own slippers to travel between the tent and the office. Else you will always have to remove your shoes in and out of the area.
No toilet inside the tent, need to either walk out to the nearby toilet or drive to the office at night to use the toilet. A bit troublesome especially it rained during our stay.
Many flies at night and will fly into the tent when you open the door. Kind of annoying.
- Sak (7/5): Good -
- Shirley (9/5): Superb -
- Vilopup (9/5): The closest to nature with comfort of home away from home. - It was the most unique experience, especially for my 6 yo.
I woke up at 4am and it was bright outside, quietly crept out and there were deer on the campsite.
Food provided high quality and super delicious.
Everything that we need was provided.
Beds were super comfortable and dome the best size. It started pouring the minute we finished dinner, and since there was no ensuite toilet it wasnt too convenient.
The plastic of our dome was no longer clear. unable to see the outside.
- Jack (7/5): Pretty cold experience in Spring - A lot of BBQ food and appropriate cooking ware but requires our own cooking. Board games available In reception area but no mahjong set. Toilets were too far and dark to walk for night pee.
- Capron (9/5): Superb -
- Siyong (7/5): Good -
- Suk (7/5): Good - Location No private bath.
- Rasjidgandha (10/5): Awesome glamping experience - Location wise, facilities, foods and experiences Minor issue, the toilet was locked at night and nobody to assist
- Cheng (5/5): It is alright.will do it only one time - Location. Fancy at a first glance. Camping site. Isolation not that ideal. But it is a camping site. It was told at the first place.
- Danny (10/5): Exceptional - Great new experience, and the food was plentiful for one person.
- Chia (7/5): Good -
- Victoria (10/5): Best place to stay in Tomamu!!!! - Beautifully done out Wish it had an attached toilet
- Kam (10/5): The staff are very friendly and helpful - The service from the staff are excellent, that was a very pleasant stay.
- Rae (10/5): A lovely glamp site with great food and fantastic staff - The food is as amazing .. the staff were so friendly and helpful .. they have shuttle service to meet the buses to take you to the ice village The toilets are a bit far from the dome
- Wanyu (7/5): Good - Clean, nice location, nice bed. You can't actually see outside from the dome.
- Tania (7/5): Great place to go to relax for a night. - A nice unique experience, dinner was excellent and igloo was warm. If you don’t have a car do not go, you need to walk.
- Rae (10/5): Great location with good amenities and amazing staff - The staff were absolutely amazing .. they were so helpful and friendly .. For the price you would expect individual toilets for each tent
- Richard (10/5): Incredible stay in the snow - The igloo style tent was amazing. Inside it was very warm and cozy even with the -13 degree weather outside. Amazing amount of food was waiting for us in our room / tent. The beds were the most comfortable we have slept in on our trip to Japan. Nothing
- Lindsay (8/5): What a great family place and friendly staff - Was comfortable and the staff where great
- June (7/5): A little pricey but overall a memorable experience. - Truly appreciate helpful and friendly staffs on site, as well as an English speaking staff to help with check in. However, our tent wasn’t available even though our booking included the day before. Make-your-own breakfast and dinner sets are provided for but you may want to bring more food and water. Various boards and card games are also available for your entertainment purposes. Insufficient electricity can be an issue during winter. Besides for the air conditioning and general lighting, only one electrical appliance can be used at any one time eg. Heater, rice cooker, induction plates, boiler etc. Even so, the heater can’t be turned on at 1200W without it switching off automatically after some time. Without sufficient insulation and heating, it can get quite cold during winter.
- Ongard (8/5): Good experience for our stay in winter in Tomamu. - The location is very good. We can go to Hoshino Ski Resort Area within less than 5 min. The dome tents need some services because they have some torn. The sound of air conditioners is very loud at night.
- Michelle (3/5): Poor - The glamping tent inside was cosy and great, it is as the photos. The main bathroom is a bit of a hike, espically in winter in -10 in snow. Also there is no shuttle service, so need a car. There is porta a loo near the igloos but still basic. Like camp, but paid $1000 a night. Felt ripped off. Also booked for 4 people, had to add kids ages 11, 14, but said don't include feeding kids in price! There is no shops nearby. Also could not see out wi dow as needed a clean.
- Jessika (8/5): Cozy, family friendly, delicious and comfortable! - The beds are super comfortable and the food was fun to prepare and make each morning and night! Cozy rooms and super friendly staff! The only negative was that the bathrooms were quite a walk away from the room - in the middle of winter makes night time trips to the toilet freezing!
- Claudia (9/5): Superb - We were very pleased with the selection and quality of the food. Also the personal was very welcoming, extremely helpful and super friendly Our time there fly by too quickly, plastic window didn’t allow for looking outside
- Kim (7/5): Good -
- Frank (6/5): Dome tent facilities on a flat land next to the highway, with dated shared facilities far away. - The interior of the dome tent is clean and in good condition. Barbecue dinner food quality is very good, and clear instructions on how to set up the fire and how to cook the food are provided. The campsite is located next to a major highway, and there is not much view to speak of. The dome tents are quite dirty on the outside, and the windows are completely obscured by dirt. The interior is furnished with standard Ikea furnishings rather than something more unique. The shared bathroom facilities are far away, with only temporary toilets provided near the tents. The shared facilities are located in a building that also operates a dated hotel inn, where the shared bathroom is quite outdated with weak water pressure. While this is passable as a camping experience, calling this "glamping" would be a stretch, considering what they charge per night is equivalent to that of a five-star resort hotel.
- Selene (5/5): Passable -
- Meow (7/5): Good -
- Satinee (9/5): Good for family camping and 5 minutes drive to Unkai Gondola. - Self BBQ for Dinner No toilet inside the room.
Shared bathroom
- Chariya (8/5): Very good -
- Man (7/5): Good - Living environment is nice and comfortable, especially the bed. The staff is nice and helpful. Appreciate and surprised she can speak fluent English. Thank you so much! The bubble surface is not clear that we cannot see clearly from inside to enjoy the natural view, a bit disappointed.
- Miguel (10/5): Great experience! - Great experience! Loved the food and BBQing it.. Very cozy Wish the toilet was closer to the room.
- Zhiqing (9/5): Happy Glamping experience - Everything!! Location is super secluded (if you’re a foreigner make sure you mark the location first on your map)
The staff is very friendly and speaks very good English
The dinner is great!!!!!! Make sure you get it
- Ho (5/5): Passable -
- Sandy (8/5): Very good - quite a nice experience for staying at the tent, four of us stayed in two tents both are quite large and clean, beds are confortable. food especially the meats the staff prepared for the bbq dinner are hugh. there is no shower or toilet fecility with the tent, a little inconvenient to drive to the main building for shower or toilet in a heaving raining night.
- Brian (7/5): Good - Staffs; interior design Plastic smell in the tent
- Annie (8/5): Very fun and comfortable stay - great for families! It’s a very easy introduction to camping as you can enjoy cooking an - Cute and comfortable tents that’s super cosy and well equipped. Grass area that’s great for kids to run around and explore. No toilet inside the tent and the only toilets were 2 portable toilets near the tents or at the main building. Dishes could have been cleaned better. The large shower water pressure was very weak.
- Scott (10/5): Exceptional - The staff were wonderful and the glamping tent was spacious and comfy.
The food was delicious and goes by the season, so each time there is going to be something new to try.
- E-lis (8/5): Very good - Staff not fluent in English, but has an English self-help guidebook if you need to know anything. Tent was huge and beautiful, and you’ll have to cook your own food to complete the experience. But they provided some really quality produce! Toilets and bathroom are at the admin building, so you have to plan your toilet breaks during winter (too cold to walk out!)
- Fabian (6/5): dissapointed - The location is good, staff is very friendly It was too cold, the air con cut every 30 minutes so you never get good temperature in your room, and to go to the toilet you need to walk in -13 degres for 5 minutes by walk
- Tan (10/5): Spacious and great design room - Very spacious room, clean, nice and great design. Because it is GLAMPING, so there is no private toilet in the room. Feel inconvenience if want to go washroom.
- Andy (10/5): The whole igloo experience and nearby ski resort was a wonderful adventure. Recommended. - The hosts were very friendly and helpful. Nearby ski resort is excellent for learner / intermediate skiers, perhaps a little small for expert skiers. The hosts provide an on demand shuttle service to / from the ski resort. The igloo is very large and roomy and even with -10° C outside the heating facilities keeps the igloo cosy and warm. The self cooking occurs inside the igloo and was easy and delicious using an induction hob. The toilet facilities are in the main block, so a 2 minute walk from the Igloo.
- Jenna (10/5): BEAUTIFUL stay in the most adorable glamping tent. - This place was amazing! The host was extremely kind and helpful. We went specially for the Ice Village at Hoshino Resort and the host picked us up at the train station. The room was extra cozy and comfy. The beds were INCREDIBLY comfortable and the food was AMAZINNNNNNG! It was in our fridge ready for us so we could eat whenever we wanted which was nice. The toilet were too far away in the winter snowy season. We had to walk to the main house which is FINE almost always unless you have to go in the middle of the night.
- Chi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alexander (9/5): It's REALLY good for the price. - They provided food as well how to make them. The bathrooms were far... it sucks going to them during the winter when it's super cold.
- Robby (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nica (10/5): Exceptional -
- Voon (4/5): Never come back - Not at all Dun like the staff service
- Olga (10/5): Exceptional - Dinner and breakfast were delicious! The tents were spacious and clean, and staff were very friendly. It would have been nice to be able to see better through the clear section of the tent.
- Kevin (9/5): It's a once in a lifetime special experience, Kids will have lots of fun in the middle of the snow - The glamping tent was spacious, deco is morden and warm. We camp in the middle of the snow filed which is a very special experience. The food portion was generous and enough to feed 4ppls. However the power outlet doesn't seems to be able to take on the full power of the electric stove, the safety fuse jumped everytime we turn the stove to high power. So we can only cook the hotpot at regular power which make the soup base 30-40 to boil. There were two glamping spot and the location they mark on the map is incorrect, and because of this we drove to the incorrection location and wasted about 30 mins to communication with the locals and try to find the correct location, Which I would think it's gonna be an hassle for none Japanese native speaker. I think they need to fix their location on google map and other map application so the customer can find them.
- Mei (9/5): Superb - Nice and cute glamping, nice snowing view
Very warm heater inside glamping site
Included dinners and breakfast, nice food! Toilet outside for a few minutes
- Xiaomin (7/5): The location is nice and it was fun for our family. - The staff is nice and they have prepared very nice food including breakfast and dinner. Every morning after a long night of using the heater, there were water dripping from the ceiling. We have two rooms and it was quite a serious problem in one of the rooms. And the tents were quite dusty that we couldn’t enjoy the view from inside.
- Enrique (2/5): Prepare to freeze and/or starve. - Design and coffee
The hosts tried to help with our complaints. However, the main issue had no quick solution. The rooms/capsules, need to be improved with insulation for the winter. The cold is unbearable! We slept at -9ºC
The room is not prepared for winter. The insulation is very poor. It is just impossible to heat the room above 10 degrees.
We arrived at the room being -4ºC, same temperature as outside.
After 3hours of trying to heat the room, even with the help of the host, we got it to 2ºC!
The heating works for a few minutes, getting the room to almost 10ºC. However, it stops as it freezes up or overheats, not sure which one and it needs time to recover. The insulation is so bad, that during that time the room is back at -5ºC.
The electricity main switch even popped while we were sleeping, so no electricity = no heating… we woke up at -9ºC.
Furthermore, you cannot cook with the heating on, as the power supply does not allow that much power output… so you have to decide wether to freeze or starve…
There are also water leaks from the snow above.
And the views… are non existent. As nothing can be seen through the transparent plastic.
The bathroom is shared, as advertised, but for the price the bathroom is very old and not enough for all guests.
A service station has better bathrooms and is free.
- Sabrina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cindy (9/5): A nice experience made by attentive staff - The room is spacious, staff are great. Toilets are not attached to the rooms. Walking in the cold night to use the toilet is not appealing.
- Jackson (10/5): 10/10, would stay here again in a heartbeat - Very spacious, clean and nice rooms! Staff were amazing, the provided dinner and breakfast was delicious, and so much food!
- Mei (8/5): A special and unique stay. Worth a one night experience in a trip - It’s a unique experience to be living in a tent up in the mountain and in winter time. Great shabu shabu dinner feast and breakfast were provided. All self cook style using induction cooker. Very special and delicious food! It didn’t have toilet, shower or any wash basin inside the tent. There is no water source. We were provided with mineral water for drinking and the shabu shabu self cook dinner. We had to drive out in super cold night and early morning to the reception area to use the toilet and shower.
- Eng (9/5): Superb -
- Sivahami (5/5): Different , won’t do it again. - Clean
Staff were friendly
Close to Tomamu ski No sink in tents - not reflected in website
Toilets are quite a far walk from the tents
The beds and pillows were uncomfortable
The tent was leaking on the last morning of our stay
Website states meals provided is misleading , should state raw ingredients provided for guests to cook.
The cooking experience on the portable stove was great but there were no instructions on how to cook the food
No one answers the phone at the front desk
- Nikhil (10/5): Exceptional - Extremely helpful staff and the half board included was amazing. The toilet facilities were only in the main building and not connected to the room
