Guest Reviews
- Noémie (10/5): - Bien situé et à proximité des attractions principales. Les employés étaient très gentils et disponibles.
- Charles (10/5): Happy overall - Easy simple. Convenient.
- Elizabeth (2/5): - Avoid at all costs! The room was dirty, had no working lifts and so so basic. The tea and coffee facilities are in another building and the breakfast in yet another place. Also on site building works started really early and were so disruptive I couldn't even finish a call I was on. The response from the management to my feedback was also rubbish.
- Maya (6/5): - Convenient location. The room & shower need updating. Mattress needs replacing. Very clean but extremely basic, and good communication from desk staff.
- Kevin (10/5): - NIce and cheap option for staying in London. Go visit the local pub, the Kings Arms......amazing.
- Mark (8/5): - It's a room and a bed, basic bathroom with a shower and half the price of actual hotels. Great for a traveler on a budget. No frills, it's fine. Windows to the street are noisy, get inside quad facing if you can
- Claire (6/5): - It is not bad
- Olasunkanmi (4/5): - Terrible bedding and dirty windows
- Raymond (6/5): Inexpensive and friendly, but some problems. - Given the exorbitant cost of most London accommodation, Stamford Street Apartments are exceptionally reasonable. The staff are unfailingly pleasant and helpful. However, as is perhaps to be expected at such a low cost, there are problems. The room was very spartan. There was no shower curtain or bath mat (I was able to secure 2 of the latter from reception eventually). There is no reading-lamp over the bed or bedsite table or stand, which is awkward if you like to read in bed. The traffic noise, even with the double-glazed window closed (and the weather was excruciatingly hot!), was relentless all night. Finally, it was a little startling to have only the option of instant coffee with breakfast (I'm not a tea drinker). All that said, I was made welcome for two nights and wasn't out of pocket afterwards.
- Kate (10/5): - Prefect location on southbank. Building very safe as 24 hour reception and security. Need a key fob for every part of the building. It was summer holidays as no students there so very quiet. Room is just a bed in a box which it prefect for the price and just somewhere to sleep. Free breakfast is cereals and pasteries, and on until 10.30am. I would recommend if want cheap safe place to sleep, would defo stay again
- Marilyn (10/5): - The staff was very nice and helpful. The room nice and clean and comfortable.
- tvpweb (10/5): - I would highly recommend this hotel. The staff members were pretty friendly. I stayed in a newly-renovated room. It was cozy and everything looked great.
- Athanasios (6/5): - Very basic room with just bed and desk, yet appealing if you like utilitarian style. Worst part was musty smell from bathroom. Noise from street can be an issue if you are sensitive. Nothing to write home about but will get you through the night OK. Easy pleasant walk to Covent Garden area over Waterloo Bridge.
- Garabed (4/5): Very disappointed US tourist - I stayed at these dorms for a week. Just came back. What can I say? If the price is most important for you, then go ahead and book your stay. If not, just pass on it. The standard single bedrooms are too small and uncomfortable. There is no TV. And there is that God damn bathrooms. The sink has two fossettes, one for boiling hot and the other for ice cold water. Unbelievable! You have to wash your face with ice cold water. The shower area is another British antic. The water goes all over, around the toilet sit and under the sink. There is a drain, but the floor is not on level, so the water can go in it. Then, with wet feet you step on the carpet, which is very dirty because of that. Even though there is a big garden in the middle of the dorm, you cannot smoke there. The permitted area is Stamford Street or Cornwall Street. To sweeten my post a little, I have to admit some good things as well. First: Day shift reception girls are very professional and ready to help. The breakfast at the other building, across the street, is very good. And third, the location is just fantastic. Bus # 381 goes almost everywhere in London and the stop is just next to the main entrance. You don't need to buy day pass tickets. One ride cost 1.75 pounds. You can just touch the small screen next to the driver's cabin with your Debit or Credit card, which has Mastercard or Visa logo. It's very easy and convenient. Everything in London is more expensive than in the USA, so be well prepared. Better pas
- Kevin (4/5): Overall disappointed - Advertised as a ‘hotel’ when it was student accommodation in summer holiday season.
Room was just a bed, desk, with a small side room with a toilet, basin and a small shower.
Bedding and pillow were stained
Breakfast included… was told it was self service continental. Went to the stove, selected a croissant and a pain au chocolate, only to be told by the lady behind the counter I was only allowed one item!
For drinks, it was an urn of hot water with various coffees and teas. The cups were the smallest cups I’ve ever seen.
Ended up going to a local cafe.
Service was fine which saved it from being a 1 star. Friendly and explained everything fully with 2 sheets of paper. Was taken to the floor that my room was as I’d never been before
Overall, very disappointed
- Angelica (4/5): - No clean.
- Alyssa (6/5): - The room I stayed in included a bed, desk, desk chair with stains and dirt on the seat, wardrobe to hang clothes in, and a private bathroom. The bedding and towels were clean. I did mark down the stay on cleanliness because the entire accomodation felt like a rushed cleaning job was done and was visibly dirty. A heads up on the bathroom (at least mine) was tiny like an airplane bathroom. The shower has no barrier so the water will easily get all over the place and is not very functional as the drain did not work well. But it does have a functioning toilet, sink, and shower head. I understand that due to price and location, this flat can realistically only check so many boxes. Location is conveniently near the London Eye and easy walking distance to Westminster Bridge and some food choices.
- Tulsidei (10/5): - Enjoyable stay. The security measures were very much appreciated Staff were professional and very helpful. Conveniently located to restaurants, train/bus stations and many London attractions. Would definitely stay here again.
- Matthew (8/5): Basic but a little noisy. - Great basic place to lay your weary head. Traffic noise at the front of the building is excessive so take ear plugs just in case.
- Hajime (4/5): - microwave, refrigerator, and kettle are not for use.
- Francis (10/5): One night stay - All went very well. Room was small but adequate , bed was very comfortable , staff were really helpful.
As my room was on the first floor, street fronting, so the traffic noise and a lot of sirens from police, ambulance etc was causing my sleep to be disturbed during the night. Saying that, I enjoyed my stay overall.
- Gareth (8/5): Basic but cheap with perfect location - Location and price can’t be beaten.
Comfy bed, but it’s not a hotel, it’s a halls of residence outside of term time.
Aslong as you lower your expectations, you’ll be fine.
Clean enough and neat enough for a few nights. Expect just a bed and a shower.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Staff were brilliant and the room was comfy. The bathroom wasnt clean enough for me with hair in the shower and on the back of the toilet. Very noisy but it is London so cant be helped.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Students accommodation and very noisy - This is like students accommodation with total basic and I mean total basic, bed and table. The carpet was stricken and you couldn’t sleep with the noise outside with constant traffics.
- Elaine (6/5): Need improvement - It is the third time I have stayed here . During that time the accommodation has deteriorated . Issues with bathroom floors and lights not working . The location is great as it possible to walk the the national theatre and good local transport. Breakfast also deteriorated and rather basic . The accommodation staff helpful, but the restaurant staff rather officious
Not sure if I would stay here again
- Kali (10/5): - I got excellent value for my money, and was very impressed by the professionalism of the staff
- Diego (6/5): Too noisy!!! - Should give fair warning about the huge level of noise on rooms facing main road.
- andrew (2/5): Avoid - Simply one of the worst i have stayed in. It is student accommodation and the advert is very misleading. The room has no tv no kettle no bathroom amenities. Yes there is a kitchen but no pots or pans or plates bowls cups etc. Yes there is a fridge and a microwave but bring your own plates cutlery etc. Also my room was next to the road and with the hot weather and no air-conditioning i had to keep the windows open. Lucky if i got 3 hours sleep a night due to traffic noise and drunks shouting and screaming all night.
- Richard (8/5): - Good value accommodation close to major sites, easy access to rail and tube.
- Catherine (6/5): - Not a clean room. No information about breakfast or WiFi provided at check in. WiFi f
Did not work
- osama (10/5): - Wonderful stay
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Pretty good for the price. Very clean, a little stubborn mould on the floor of the shower and around the sink, but you could tell it had been scrubbed as well as it could. The bathroom facility in the room was very basic, but the shower really strong - much to my initial surprise. All in all, looked basic, was basic, but really did the job well. Also full breakfast was included. But if a weird setup but good value. Chocolate croissants are the one!
- Rob (4/5): Student accommodation NOT apartments. - Most importantly: these are not apartments, they are small student rooms with just-about-enough comfort levels you might expect from a hostel-style block of rooms. The hotel listing advertises things like a fridge etc in the "apartment" - well these are not in your room, they are in a shared kitchen. The room provides a single bed.
The hotel refused to provide me with a refund when I checked out after one night, even though the description does not match the reality.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Close to Waterloo so getting tube is easy. Plus London eye is like a ten min walk. Would stay here again!
- Harriet (2/5): Awful - Quick check in, helpful guy on reception who was a little perplexed that I had tailgated in!
Bathroom is a ridiculous cupboard, worse than a caravan. Toilet was leaking into the shower area and toilet needed a good descale. Room was FULL of mosquitoes...
Noisy neighbours and people outside chatting on phones. Dirty student kitchen with no mugs to use even though I brought my own coffee. Looked in fridge and out of date (by months) food ..don’t do it...
- Claudia (8/5): - Buena ubicación, justo precio por la habitacion. Lo único malo de la estadía, el colchón muy viejo y mucho ruido por los grupos de estudiantes.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Basic, clean and no frills cheap accommodation next to Waterloo station - exactly what I need - highly recommended.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Wow! The staff was amazing. Kudos to Betty, Joseph, Paul and Alyssa. The location was great. Most of the major attractions were within walking distance. The room was clean Andy tidy! I plan to stay there again!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - little room service, no coffee/tea in the kitchen close to your room but needed to go downstairs beside reception for a cup of warm drink
- Valerie (6/5): Basuc - Basic, very noisy but staff were really obliging and helpful. I wasn’t aware a breakfast was provided until I was about to leave, so missed it
- Balaji (2/5): A horrible experience - This place is only meant for poor students. The room is cramped The cleaning happens once in 5 days (if at all). There are mosquitoes in the room. The room is hot. Not air circulation. No fan inside the rom. I could have imagined, how a prison would have been, The support from hotels.com is a real horrible experience, with communication, without the desired outcomes.
Since I am followed in my blogs and in google location searches, I will be writing these facts everywhere, specifically about hotels.com.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Location is very good, staff are very nice.
Didn't like the noise and had bad sleep because of it.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The stay it self was great, staff were very helpful. Especially with check in since hotels.com had made a mistake. On Hotels.com it says that check in is 24hr which is why i booked this place however this is not the case and it is after 3pm.i had an exam to get to and this was extremely stressful but the staff were very kind and got it sorted. Hotels.com however lists the check in time wrong and caused great inconvenience.
Overall the room was good and i enjoyed my stay. However if you plan on using the kitchen you do need to bring your own cutlery and crockery etc as they have the appliances but no pans or bowls or anything of that sort.
- Sara (8/5): Good Value for Money - Good place to stay for the money. Near the centre of London, Waterloo Station and the South Bank. Rooms basic but the bed was comfy. It's only for sleeping in anyway. Good breakfast too. I'd stay there again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Fabulous location . Everything was either within walking distance or a couple of tube stops away.
Amazing and friendly staff, thanks Michael and Betty for being so friendly.
Secure and safe for a solo female traveler .
- Frances T (10/5): STAMFORD ST. APTS IS THE WAY TO GO - I chose Stamford St. Apts because it was close to the train, bus and within walking distance to the Themes, The London Eye, Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace. The room is very basic but if you're looking for a clean, secure, convenient place to stay with breakfast in the morning, a laundry on site, and friendly helpful staff to guide you, then Stamford St. Apts is the way to go. It's all ages in the summer and perfect for women traveling by themselves.
- Elena (10/5): Best location. - Really nice! Clean, comfortable, excellent location walking distance to all main sights. Highly recommend!
- Shaun (10/5): Excellent budget accommodation, top location - Secure, friendly, clean and cheap accommodation in one of the best London locations. Great facilities too!
- Sophia (10/5): Nice place for budget traveler - Nice place to stay for solo traveler. The complex is located on a quiet street very close to Waterloo Station. It is a basic nice clean room, the fridge and microwave in the kitchen on the floor. Very good for someone who spends all day in town doing touristy things. Good wifi.
- elaine (8/5): - very good location . A little noisy at night as had to sleep with the windows open Staff very help . Would stay again
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Excellent location, 2 mins from Waterloo station and 5 mins from Southbank centre and river. Very basic, in need of redecorating and mould in room too! Didn't realise it was student accommodation for Kings Uni!
- Emilie (8/5): Good - Nice place to stay. Well located, there are everything you need in a little space. Bed are not super comfy and they are cleaning the rooms every 2-3 days. But globally, it is a good choice. Staff is nice and helpful, and it’s cheap.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very central location good base if all you want is some where to get you're head down ideal for solo traveller
- Verified traveler (6/5): - OK place. Didn’t like the fact that they couldn’t keep my luggage in a private area after check out so I could pick it up later on.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - What a find in such a convenient location! If you're looking for clean, comfortable, no fuss accommodation right near Waterloo, which is a 2 minute walk away with links to all of London, then this is brilliant. Great brekky over the road and helpful staff. Recommend.
