• Daniel (10/5): Супер релакс - Мястото е прекрасно! Изключителен релакс! Фауната е поддържана много добре. Направихме на изгрева разходка с лодка, абсолютно незабравимо изживяване, препоръчвам го на всеки! Персонала също е много приятен и на разположение за всяко нещо. Миришеше много кофти в стаята на нафталин, както и не се почистваше всеки ден.

• Oleksandr (10/5): Quite and friendly place with amazing service. - Pool, staff are very nice. We bought some prawns and fruits and they helped us cook and cut. The guy at the bar (Kalu?) is the nicest guy ever. Andrea owner is also super nice and always check on you that everything is good. You can also take kayaks and go to the lake (we didn’t but other guests enjoyed that) Everything was good, only thing we didn’t like was the smell in the room (probably just our preference and other people would be fine - just didn’t like the type of air freshener they use - but it’s a minor thing) . All good !

Die Häuschen mit jeweils eigener Dachterasse sind liebevoll eingerichtet mit einer spektakulären riesigen Dusche in fast freien. Der riesige Pool löst zum schwimmen und relaxen ein. Super gut zum entspannen Uns hat alles gefallen
• Claudia (10/5): Gut geführte Oase, am ruhigen See. - Die ruhige Lage am See, mit dem aufmerksamen und hilfsbereiten Personal ist lobenswert. Das Frühstück, auf der Terrasse serviert, ein Traum. Und der morgendliche Seeausflug eines vom Besten was wir erlebt haben. Eine kleine Oase, nur 5 min entfernt vom Meer.

Das Resort war mit Abstand die beste Unterkunft in den 4 Wochen Sri Lanka Urlaub. Andrea hat aus der ganzen Anlage eine Perle gemacht und sie ist mit ihrem Team das I-Tüpfelchen. Erholung pur. Frühstück ist mega. Hier kann man in Ruhe in 5 Cabanas das Leben genießen. Vielen lieben Dank Andrea und Gruß an Charlie! Nichts

• heidi (9/5): Fantastisch verblijf! - Wat een heerlijke rust gevende plek. Lekker ontbijt en zeer gastvrij vriendelijk personeel! Wij hebben erg genoten van het verblijf. Helaas bleven we maar 1 nachtje.

• Pekka (10/5): Ylellinen Resort rentouttavaan lomailuun - Aamiainen oli monipuolinen ja herkullinen ja se katettiin omalle yläterassille. Resort oli kuin kaunis pieni keidas järven rannalla. Palvelu oli ystävällistä ja avuliasta.
• Susanne (10/5): DER ABSOLUTE HAMMER!!! - Ein außergewöhnliche Unterkunft, die beste während unseren Aufenthaltes im Sri Lanka. Man kommt dort an,wird von Shyam begrüßt  der immer für einen da ist,lustig ist,tolle Tipps hat und mit vollem Herzen seinen Job macht. Auch Andrea ist ein Herzensmensch, die mit viel Liebe zum Detail dieses wunderschöne Resort mit Shyam leitet. Was hatten wir für schöne lustige Abende mit den Beiden. Und dank Andrea,einen super Kaffee und frische Semmeln,was man ja sonst nicht so bekommt. Aber auch das local Frühstück ist der Hammer,ob man es auf der Terrasse oder direkt am See genießt, es war einfach unglaublich lecker. Die traumhaften Bungalows liegen in einer absoluten Ruheoase. Hier kann man komplett abschalten und den Aufenthalt in vollen Zügen genießen. In das quirlige Hikkaduwa kommt man in 5 Minuten mit dem Tuktuk. Besonders beeindruckt hat mich die Sauberkeit und die Liebe zum Detail. Man merkt, dass hier mit Herz gearbeitet wird. Das ganze Personal ist einfach toll und unglaublich aufmerksam. Man fühlt sich rundum willkommen und wir haben schweren Herzen diesen wunderbaren Ort,mit den so tollen Menschen sehr sehr ungern verlassen.  Wir danken euch von ganzem Herzen für diese wunderbaren Tage!!! P.s. Wenn möglich, macht unbedingt die Seesafari,ganz was besonders was man nicht missen sollte!!!! NiCHTS
• Samuel (10/5): Cannot recommend this place enough! - I wish we could give this place an 11/10. From start to finish Shyam, Andrea, Khalu and the rest of the team went above and beyond to make sure that we had an amazing experience at Shiva. They were so friendly and welcoming to us. Even the bonus of Charlie the dog was a lovely surprise for us! The room was beautiful, the hot water and AC was good. The resort itself was peaceful and clean, with only 5 cabanas it never felt busy which we loved! The pool was the perfect temperature and really big - easily swimmable! The breakfasts were spot on, and massive! They helped order food from their partner restaurant on days that we just wanted to stay in and chill. They helped recommend restaurants close by for food as well. Highly recommend doing the sunrise on their boat - such a calming and beautiful experience! Nothing

• Menno& P.A.M. (10/5): Prachtig verblijf met een geweldige ligging - Prachtig resort op een hele mooie ligging aan het meer. De huisjes zijn mega luxe en groot. Het zwembad is geweldig en mega groot. Het personeel van het resort doet er alles aan om jouw tijd zo aangenaam mogelijk te maken. Ons allerbeste verblijf tijdens onze vakantie in Sri Lanka. • Aleksandra (10/5): A peaceful lakeside retreat with beautiful nature and warm hospitality. - This place is truly serene, located lakeside and tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Hikkaduwa, yet still easily accessible by a short tuk-tuk or bike ride. If you love nature and a calm atmosphere, this is definitely the right place. The territory and the garden is truly beautiful. On top, we saw so many different birds on the hotel grounds, and even more if you take a catamaran boat trip at sunrise or sunset (highly recommended!). Shyam and everyone working at the hotel are incredibly hospitable and kind (including Charlie the dog!), making us feel at home straight away. The room and the entire property are beautiful, and the breakfast - served on your own terrace or by the lakeside - is truly amazing and very generous. We would happily come back again 🙂

• Esther (10/5): Super fijn verblijf, prachtig resort en super service!!! - We hebben een fantastische tijd hier gehad! De locatie is prachtig met een groot mooi zwembad, fijne huisjes in een rustige omgeving. Vanuit de locatie konden we eenvoudig een tuk tuk bestellen om naar het stadje te gaan (in ongeveer 5 minuten). Syam (manager) en de andere medewerkers zorg ervoor dat we niets tekort kwamen. We hebben een mooie tocht over het meer gemaakt, Syam heeft ons een aantal keer meegenomen naar bezienswaardigheden en er was altijd iemand beschikbaar. We voelden ons hier erg thuis en zijn hier heerlijk tot rust gekomen. Het was ook mogelijk om zelf te koken in de keuken met de heerlijk verse producten van de markt. Kortom: goede service, prachtig resort en een goede locatie! -
• Helen (10/5): - We stayed for 2 nights and wished we had stayed at least 2 more. The property is wondeful, beautiful and peaceful, the pool overlooking the lake is magical. Highlights would definitely be the property manager Shyam, he is charming funny and incredible host. We did not want for anything. He recommended a fantastic trip on the lake, arranged us dinner reservations at a fab local restaurant, he also personally took us to town in a tuk Tuk when we needed a few things. He is an absolute asset to the property and certainly added to our stay with wonderful stories and care. His assistant is also lovely and Charlie the fab dog is delightful and kept us company. Could recommend more highly!!!! Will definitely be back!!! Thank you Shaym again!!! That we had to leave

• Ozcan (10/5): Exceptional - It is an absolutely beautiful place, cosy, quite and comfortable. Carefully and tastefully designed, and well taken care of. The staff is extremely friendly and helful. Shayam, along with his family, is available 24 hrs for anything that you may need. The lake provides stunning views and mystical atmosphere. Facilities in the room could be improved, such as hand towels, better toiletry, hair dryer, mini refrigirator, etc. Also, possibility to order food for lunch or dinner could be helpful, as the hotel is far from the center, and not always convenient to go there for food.

• Hannah (10/5): Our new favourite place ❤️ - We loved everything! This resort is absolute heaven, truly a hidden gem. Shyam and his team are outstanding, nothing was a bother. Shyam goes above and beyond daily, he really made this place very special for us. He gave us tips on where to eat and made our reservations, he also gave us a lift in the resorts tuk tuk. One night we wanted to stay in and he ordered in pizza so we could all just relax by the bar eating and chatting. Me & my husband will miss our friend. The food in the resort was amazing- each breakfast was amazing. The best we had in Sri Lanka. We also had chicken for lunch which was cooked from scratch and was delicious. Also Charlie the resort’s dog, he is an angel. We loved waking up to him every morning. Although don’t worry if you’re not a dog person as he is very well trained and will happily keep to himself if you don’t fuss over him. The room’s are stunning, spacious with fab A/C. The bed was so comfortable. The resort is peaceful and tranquil, with views across the lake. Shyam also arranged for us to do a night time boat ride on the lake and we seen lots of birds as the sunset, it was beautiful. Absolutely nothing!
• Helene (10/5): Exceptional in every way - We spent 24 wonderful hours at this exceptional property and wished we had booked for longer. The minute you walk through the gates there is so much beauty to take in; everything has been exquisitely designed and all in service of making the traveler feel instantly relaxed. Like a deep exhale!! Our host Shyna and his team could not have done more to make us feel welcome and at home. Fresh coconut water was offered on arrival followed by a quick tour around the property. Our plans to go to the beach that day abandoned! We instead spent the afternoon chilling out by the beautiful pool. About a 10 min tuktuk to the beach that evening had us sipping cocktails in a roof top bar watching the sunset… a recommendation by our host! Breakfast was outstanding…!! Prepared with care and set out on our own private terrace. We can honestly say that our stay at Shiva Sunrise was the best hotel experience during our 2 weeks in Sri Lanka! I would encourage anyone to stay here in this little oasis…. You won’t be disappointed! Nothing!
• Dominic (10/5): Was a perfect stay in this hotel, we want to come back! - The host Shyam was amazing, very helpful and friendly with us. We loved the room, very cozy and romantic. The bathroom is amazing because it’s exterior shower and nice decoration. The pool had the perfect temperature the whole day and very clean. The whole location was amazing would recommend coming here even if you want to visit Galle. 12/10 hotel would come here again definitely!!! PS: They have a cute Golden Retriever, Charlie, so cute! There was a few ants in the bathroom. (Not out of the ordinary as it’s very open to the outside)

• Lorraine (10/5): Amazing place, cannot recommend enough! - Shiva Sunrise resort is an amazing place to stay. We really cannot recommend enough! The pool and grounds are beautiful as is the view of the lake, the photos really do not do it justice! The cabana we stayed in was immaculate and so quiet with fantastic views. The breakfasts were so good, freshly cooked and really tasty. We also had a couple of other meals at the resort and again they were freshly cooked and really nice. Andrea and Shyam were amazing hosts, nothing was too much trouble, they were really helpful and friendly and of course Charlie the golden retriever needs a mention as he was so loving, I will really miss him! We have travelled quite a lot over the years and can honestly say we have never stayed anywhere as nice as the Shiva Sunrise resort. nothing other than the fact we had to return home!

I’ve traveled to many countries and stayed in beautiful resorts, but this one in Hikkaduwa stands out for its peaceful and welcoming atmosphere. From the moment I arrived, I felt a sense of calm. The resort is beautifully designed with attention to detail, creating a relaxing and inviting environment. Every space reflects thoughtfulness and care, making it more than just a place to stay—it’s an experience to remember. Moreover every space including the room is Very Clean and Well Maintained. Andrea, the owner, is incredibly warm and welcoming. Her hospitality, along with her wonderful staff, made my stay feel special. They make lovely breakfast and ensure you are happy. They go above and beyond to make sure guests are comfortable and well taken care of. The cabanas have a rooftop where you can chill, relax and sunbathe with trees around, while the lake is calm. We woke up early in the morning to see birds, mangroves, forest and a dreamy sunrise. At night, you can see fireflies and during a full moon it is just 🤌🏻, can even star gaze from the swing by the lake. A special mention to Charlie, the golden retriever, who added to the charm of this place with his friendly and loving nature. I’ll miss you Charlie🥹 If you’re visiting Sri Lanka, I highly recommend Shiva Sunrise Resort. It’s a place that stays with you, and I will return back to this place someday 💯🥺♥️♥️
• Lisa (10/5): An experience of tranquility, peace and luxury . - What a find ! If I could rate 11/10 I would . From the exceptionally warm welcome from Andrea and her gorgeous golden dog Charlie to the lakeside views and the stunning swimming pool . 6 individual bungalows all with their very own roof top lounge area . Finished off to such a high standard , the food we had was amazing and so fresh and the lake boat ride at sunrise or sunset was one of the most amazing experiences ever , so peaceful yet only 10 mins into the busier Hikkaduwa . For this price I don’t think you’d find anything better and it was by far our favourite accommodation out of 12 others we stayed at during our stay in Sri Lanka Nothing

The staff were all fantastic – friendly, helpful, and always smiling. Our room was immaculate, the pool was the perfect size, and the breakfasts were the best we had in Sri Lanka! This place is a little slice of paradise, and it was the highlight of our trip. We can't recommend it enough!

• Dinishi (10/5): Luxury lake lodge for unwinding & relaxing! - One of the nicest places I’ve stayed at EVER in Sri Lanka! First class villas - I felt like I was in Tulum or Thailand. A beautiful place to relax and kick back. And very nice, luxury bathroom (as a woman, that’s important! 😂). Both hosts (Andrea & Shyam) were incredibly nice & helpful, & treated me like family. I came on Christmas & they invited me to their Christmas feast & even gave me a cute Christmas gift! So sweet & made my day. Had a lot of fun getting to know the other guests & thoroughly enjoyed my Sri Lankan Christmas. Also the breakfast spread is AMAZING. I’d also recommend going on a sunset tour on the Lake! You can see Sri Lankan eagles and all sorts of birds up close :)
• Elspeth (10/5): Just perfection ❤️ - Wow, what a place. Easily the best we’ve stayed in during our wandering around North and south SL. A little bit of paradise. Andrea and Shyam work so hard to ensure that you have what you need to enjoy the perfect stay at this beautiful and serene resort. The other staff, k, M, G, and T never stop working on the grounds and ensure it stays in pristine condition. The location and accommodation is of very high quality. It is unique, stylish and in keeping with its natural surroundings. The wildlife both in and around the resort is spectacular…from water monitors, frogs, peacocks and ( wrong knee’d ) lapwings to kingfishers, bats, eagles and fireflies….to name but a few. 5 cabanas only, around a beautiful pool, means its never busy. The pool itself is beautiful, deep blue tiles with ample space to relax and always the perfect temperature. How do they do that???? A little way out of town but impossible not to get a tuk tuk whenever you want one if you don’t fancy the walk. Shyam even has his own Tuk Tuk and will run you into Hikka Breakfasts are different every morning but produced with you in mind and a time that suits. The quality and freshness of the fruits and bread and cake and eggs was all second to none. We asked for coffee every morning when we woke and while we found SL coffee not to our taste, the coffee prepared by Andrea and Shyam lived up to our unreasonably high standards. Charlie the golden retriever is very friendly and greets you like a long lost friend whenever he sees you. Even if you don’t love dogs you will love Charlie. Checkout the Resorts Facebook page as it’s a perfect reflection of what we encountered and what you will have to look forward to. We booked for 4 nights and ended up staying for 10….It was perfect and therefore pointless moving anywhere else. We cannot praise this place and these guys highly enough. Zero
• Chantal (10/5): Amazing place to relax yet close to the buzz of Hikkaduwa - We loved the set up of the resort which is very boutique like: only 5 houses with both a balcony and your own rooftop. Beautifully landscaped garden. A pool you can dive into at any given moment. Amazing breakfast with fresh local products. Total tranquility, yet only a short tuk tuk ride from buzzing Hilladuwa! There is nothing we did not like!
• Tom (10/5): Beautiful place run by a great team. I cannot recommend highly enough - This was a truly beautiful place to stay. With amazing attentive staff, thank you Andrea and Shyam! With care for the group beyond what is usual. Great breakfasts, with ‘the best coffee in the world. We were a family group of 10, ranging from 15 to 80 y/o, without exception they loved this place. this was our first place to stay on a 3 week trip and we were all very sad to leave as we worry that we will find nothing better. • Pippa (10/5): Exceptional 🤩 - A peaceful idyllic Sanctuary away from the centre of Hikkaduwa . ( which was ideal for us as hikkaduwa is a busy tourist town) The resort consists of 5 cabanas on the edge of a lake with the addition of an amazing pool . Each cabana has its own roof top terrace with comfy seating to relax and take in the amazing views. I have to mention the stunning design and landscaping of the resort, the attention detail is just beautiful and also has a wonderful homely feel. Shyam and his team tended to our every need and were always available from the moment we woke up til we went to bed at night . Also with the added bonus of wonderful Charlie the retriever who was also very much part of the welcoming commitee when we returned after going out for dinner. Also good to note that the resort has its own tuk tuk and will take you anywhere you want to go ( for a small charge ) The breakfasts are enormous and delicious and served privately on your own terrace . We spent 3 wonderful days here to finish off our 2 week tour of Sri Lanka and I couldn’t think of a better place to wind down and relax in before our flight home to the uk . We all agreed one of the nicest places that we’ve ever stayed in 😍 Whole heartedly recommend . The only thing we thought of which would be a welcomed addition would be a small fridge in each of the cabanas. Nothing
• Ravi (10/5): Peaceful, relaxing amidst beautiful greenery - Location was peaceful and quiet. Loved the landscaping and overall design of the accommodation. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfasts on the terrace and patio were enormous and delicious.
• Max (10/5): Luxurious, peaceful and perfect for our honeymoon! - Very peaceful, calm and relaxed environment surrounded by nature. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. Shyna the manager was extremely helpful and made our stay a pleasure! And to the lovely dog Charlie who greeted us!Would highly recommend to everybody! Nothing, it was perfect!

• Daria (10/5): Exceptional - This is an incredibly beautiful place for solitude and relaxation away from the hustle and bustle. Our stay was comfortable and unforgettable. Thank you to Andrea and Shyam for their hospitality and the best rooftop breakfasts with a stunning view. I am in awe of the resort's design, every detail. Ganesha, Buddha, and the true guardian of this place, Charlie the dog, stole my heart 🤍.
• John (10/5): 11 stars, fantastic accommodation, the friendliest staff and everything we could have wanted. - Where to start...we've just returned from 16 nights in Sri Lanka, we had planned to stay at Shiva for 5 nights but at the end of our trip decided to return for 4 more nights, the resort was so peaceful and tranquil and the room itself was superb. We had a very comfy bed, a large bathroom with a shower that overlooked the lagoon, a roof terrace above the accommodation and an additional seating area external to the property. Andrea & Shyam are an amazing pair, so friendly, helpful and a delight to be around. Due to the resort having 5 cabanas it never felt crowded, the pool was large enough and you could have your own privacy if you wanted it. We could not have asked for any more, my partner and I agreed it was one of the nicest places we've ever stayed in, which is a testament to the passion and drive from both Andrea & Shyam. I can literally not pick a fault with Shiva, when we were there it felt like home, unfortunately my actual home is in wet, cold & grey England and doesn't have a bar or pool on site...but the welcoming feeling you got when there made it feel so homely.
• Maria (10/5): Fantastic and peaceful place - We had a fantastic stay at Shiva Sunrise! Had first only booked one night, but ended up staying four nights. It is a small place with five beautiful, brand new bungalows right by Hikkaduwa Lake. Each bungalow has a rooftop terrace, and the semi-open bathroom is so cool. Loved the huge pool with jacuzzi. Shyam is the perfect host, super welcoming and helpful. He served us excellent breakfast with homemade sourdough bread on the rooftop terrace. Loved the peaceful atmosphere, sitting by the lake watching the fishermen paddle by. The beach is a 10-min tuk-tuk ride away (1000 rupees each way). We walked there one day, took us about 30 min. Charlie, the Golden Retriever, greeted us heartily every morning, such a cutie. And it was great chatting with Peter, the owners friend from Austria. Sadly, we did not get to meet the co-owner Andrea who was at home in Austria. We hope to be back!

• Prachi (10/5): Heaven on Earth. - What can I say! We loved everything about this property! It’s exactly how it looks in the pictures. The place is built with a lot of love and you can feel it as soon as you enter. It has the best pool, trust me I was in that pool 24/7. The rooms were so clean, surrounded by greenery. The property overlooks the backwaters, which is serene and beautiful. It’s literally like personal oasis! You will feel like you have landed in Heaven! Andrea and Shyam are the best host! They are filled with warmth and so much love. Andreas Austrian breakfast is to die for!! We used to wake up early, eagerly waiting on what magic is she gonna whip up everyday. Shyam use to serve us this incredible breakfast in the terrace which has the perfect view of the Lake. We were so glad to meet Peter! He is such a beautiful soul. We miss being there and all the living beings there. Oh how can I forget about the cute puppers Charlie, greets us every morning with big smile and enthusiasm. There is nothing to not like about this place! It’s perfect.
• Monique (10/5): Exceptional - We have spent 3 nights at Shiva Sunrise Resort and have enjoyed every minute of our stay! What a great place to unwind after travelling for a while. The bungalows are so beautiful and spacious, the bed was very comfortable (I loved the pillows!) and the half open bathroom was lovely with a warm shower. Every morning we enjoyed a very tasty and big breakfast on our own roof terrace, looking over the garden, swimming pool and lake. Getting up early at sunrise will give you a magical view over the lake. It takes a short, 10minute drive to the beach with all kind of restaurants, surf spots and other fun things to do. We were very happy that we stayed a little away from this, but close enough to visit the beach or to go out for dinner. What made our stay extra special, were the wonderful people that run the place. Shyam, Andrea and the rest of the team are so super friendly, are always there if you need anything, advice for a restaurant, a drive to the beach, a fun chat at the bar and they even offered a fresh Aloë Vera face treatment because we got a little sunburn 🥵. We wished we could have stayed longer! And we wish them all the best in the future with a lot of very nice costumers 😃
• Warwick (10/5): The best hotel I stayed in Sri Lanka - Gorgeous property. Really loved it. Honestly cannot speak highly of it enough. Go to this hotel. It is phenomenal value for money. Brand spanking new but perfect. A little paradise. Bathroom and rooms are sensational! Lots of space. Air con and a fan. This property catered to my every need. Including a midnight snack run to get kinder bueno’s!
