Guest Reviews
- Effrosyni (9/5): - Immaculate
- Darryll (10/5): Very comfortable and practical, great breakfast. - Lovely home, lovely host, very accommodating to my request - I had to check out at 5am and host left a very welcoming breakfast for me in the morning and even purchased a specific cereal that I had asked for.
- Andela (10/5): Prima verblijf.Alles was goed geregeld. - Alles was perfect.De kamer, het ontbijt, de communicatie. Mary Beth was zeer vriendelijk. Kortom een aanrader! Niets
- Cornelia (10/5): Looking forward to our next stay, thank you - Wonderful guest hosting and exquisite interior design All appreciated
- Aviel (10/5): - 1. Great host- very welcoming, we just felt at home.
2. Bowie the cat :)
2. Location- Near Kew Gardens. Excellent for those who want to feel the authentic life in the outskirts of London.
3.Breakfast. Nothing.
- DEBORAH (10/5): A great location for Richmond and Kew .. a lovely birthday weekend away - Clean fresh comfy location
- Emily (8/5): Lovely spot to stay - The location is incredible and the house beautiful. It was spotlessly clean, the bed is comfy, and the breakfast had a great variety of options. The noise from the aeroplanes did disrupt our sleep in the morning, but not something the host can help! Perhaps some ear plugs or something would be great.
- Tracie (8/5): Absolutely gorgeous property in a lovely area and our room was exceptionally comfortable. - The property was in a lovely area and beautifully decorated and maintained. Nothing to not like apart from feeling like we were on the Marie Celeste. Didn’t see the proprietor after being given the key to the front door. So nobody to ask questions. There was however a little booklet with a comprehensive guide to all we could need in the area.
- kathryn (9/5): Very convenient for Kew gardens. Would stay again when visiting this part of London. - The location is very good for Kew gardens and Kew gardens station with easy access to LHR airport.
The walk from the station to the home is a little over 10 mins with some fairly uneven pavement to be contended with when pulling a 'wheelie' suitcase.
For anyone with a cellphone which requires internet, please check for messages prior to arriving. I did not and thus effected a long wait to gain access to accommodation. This was my fault entirely. Note: Internet service is available at very nice bar/restaurant at the railway station and also by sitting outside the Kew Gardens Hotel, which is close to Windsor road.
The house is situated along a quiet street, though parking may difficult if one arrives in a car and I believe a permit is required. Full flight of stairs to my room and, I assume, more rooms up a second flight.
Room: ample size. No tea/coffee maker ( I made a cuppa in the kitchen). Nice cookies and two cans of cold drinks in room.
A radiant heater available for use in room. Good quality linens and nice thick duvet. Bed had slightly less firmness than I personally like, nevertheless, very good.
Bathroom: One aspect, which wasn't too much of an issue for me, there is no walk-in shower nor shower curtain so one has to be very careful if using shower. I took a bath and used shower only to rinse hair. For some people this may be an issue. Otherwise good, clean facilities. Radiant heater also available.
Breakfast was provided in the kitchen with cereal, muesli, bread for toasting. Fruits and milk in fridge.
Teas and ground coffee ( for use in French press). Garden from kitchen has a pretty seating area which, I am certain is available in the warm weather for breakfasting.
Lots of books in the home also piano, which the host messaged me to go ahead and play if I wished.
The home has a cat who may ignore you, as she did me for the first night but then decided it liked tickles.
All in all a very good stay.
Thank you, K For some people, the absence of a shower cubicle or curtain could be an issue.

- Lucyna (8/5): wizyta w Kew Gardens - Lokalizacja idealna - blisko do Kew Gardens, spokojna i bezpieczna okolica, blisko metro, autobus oraz restauracje i sklep.
- Susan (9/5): Kew Gardens Visit - This is a perfect house for a visit by a couple to Kew Gardens which is a short walk away. Facilities near to the house include shops and restaurants and it is close to the Tube. We were left to put own devices to prepare breakfast which suited us just fine. The area is very quiet at night Not for us but I imagine parking would be extremely difficult if you brought your own car
- michael (10/5): Great 2 nights, beautiful house - Clean tidy
- mariana (10/5): - El desayuno increíble. La propietaria siempre estuvo a disposición. Todo perfecto.
- David (9/5): Lovely spot for a break - Beautiful house and immaculate. Parking was easy on the weekend, though it's on street and in a residents zone which operates during the week. Whilst there was no shower, there was a lovely big double ended bath which I enjoyed using; again in an beautifully decorated bathroom. My 11yr old very much approved of the cookies and drink in the room on arrival.... Nothing to not like!
- Annabel (10/5): - It is a lovely welcome and very comfortable 😊 Nothing
- Samantha (6/5): Sweet house
Under flight path - A comfortable pretty room. Adorable cat. Mary Ann the owner is welcoming. Unfortunately the old sash windows let in the continual noise of aeroplanes into Heathrow, so i didnt sleep well.
It was also too far out of Richmond for us...that's my fault for not planning properly.
- roberta (10/5): We would recommend very highly! - How wonderful to have lovely treats and refreshments in our room after a long day and journey with our luggage. It is close to the Kew, the Richmond District and trains as well as restaurants. The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious with fresh fruit, quality breakfast cereal and bread choices, as well as coffee, tea, espresso and juice. It was so appreciated!
- Asger (10/5): - I stayed one night and arrived late. The owner was super helpful. My daughter in particular loved the quirky room which had a loft where she slept. Everything was brand new. We decided to come back some other time.
- Mark (9/5): Very good - Great location To visit Kew Gardens
Only a short walk to train station.
- Fiona (10/5): -
- Andrew (8/5): - A fantastic stay. The location was ideal, and the property wonderful.
The communication from the host prior to arrival and welcome on arrival was first class and really appreciated.
- Hannah (8/5): -
- Jane (10/5): Very enjoyable - MaryBeth was very welcoming, the room was well appointed and comfortable and the breakfast choice was amazing. The location was perfect for my purpose, meeting family to enjoy the Christmas lights at Kew Gardens.
- Gill (8/5): Perfect place to stay if you are that side of London. - The room was lovely, very comfy and homely and had everything you could need. Lovely little extra touches like the cookies and drinks! Breakfast was delightful - fresh, choice of things and all laid out!
- Lins Heydon (8/5): Lovely home from home - would recommend. - The home is in a lovely location, within walking distance to the tube & Kew Gardens. It's on a quiet road and parking was easy. The room is very clean, warm and with nice touches such as biscuits/cakes & a few drinks. A place to put your bag and hang your clothes was provided. WiFi was fine. The breakfast was very nice with a good selection provided.
We could hear the airplanes overhead, but not so much as to disturb our sleep.
Bathroom is warm and spacious. Although not ensuite (down a short corridor) it was for our private use. We were able to borrow a dressing gown too. I really enjoyed relaxing in the bath, something I rarely do nowadays.
Mary Beth was very helpful, responsive and friendly. Most of the time it felt like you had the whole house to yourself. We missed not having coffee in the room. There isn't a stand up shower; bath is beautiful but tricky to use the shower attachment to rinse yourself off without accidentally getting the floor wet (no screen/curtain).
- Susan (7/5): Didn't live up to expectations - Well located for our needs, close to Kew Station & Kew gardens. No tea or coffee making in the room. No bathrobes which were mentioned in the listing. Had to hunt for the hair dryer. We were not comfortable with the amount of personal clutter in the bedroom. Unable to have a shower due to lack of any screen or shower curtain. Yes, we probably would have been more suited to the Premier Inn down the road.
- victoria (7/5): -
- Edward (10/5): A real homestay with great comfort. - This is a real home. Perfect for visiting the amazing Kew Gardens and the tube/metro is closeby too. Lovely decorated too. Owner is very helpful and friendly.
- Clare (10/5): Perfect location, lovely house - Great location (we came to watch the rugby at Twickenham) lovely clean and bright room, very comfortable and well equipped. Weekend parking available which was a huge bonus! Nothing!
- Michael (1/5): Terraced house up a dead end road - Nice decor The house was freezing cold
Parking was on a public street. There was no enquire bathroom and the shower was impossible to use.
- William (10/5): -
- Elizabeth (10/5): Perfect - A beautiful house with a homely feel. Impeccable in terms of decor, cleanliness, communication, facilities and location. Parking is quite tight but wasn’t a problem. Had I needed to stay beyond 10, the host would happily have obtained a permit for me.
- Denise (10/5): A home from home. Highly recommended. - Felt like a home from home. Clean as a whistle. Lovely bedding. Lots of plug sockets. Very quiet street. Breakfast was served beautifully. Even though we were in someone’s house, we still had complete privacy. Even the cat, Bowie, was chilled and very friendly and I’m a dog person. Highly recommended. Having to reverse down the street in my car to find a parking space - eek it was narrow! 😂
- Emma (10/5): -
- Paul (10/5): Lovely home with friendly cat and dog, an exceptional experience - A family that opened their house to guests, offering a truly wonderful experience nothing
- Peter (8/5): Comfortable & all communication was timely - fine for my taste
- Claire (10/5): Perfect stay for a perfect weekend - Mary Beth was a great host, right from the time we booked to the time we arrived. Parking at the front of the house was readily available and being a weekend did not have any restrictions. The location was ideal for us as we visited the Old Deer Park on Saturday for a festival and then spent a day at Kew Gardens on Sunday. Both were about a steady 20-25 minute walk from the property. We had nibbles in the room and breakfast was great - meusli, yoghurt, fruit, toast, pancakes and tea cakes plus tea and coffee. Very comfortable and very warm and welcoming. Would have no hesitation in staying again. Parking was a bit tight but that is more an observation than a negative. Everything was just great.
- GRAHAM (8/5): Our first experience of air bnb and we havent been put off - Breakfast was DIY but there was plenty of choice and enjoyable Aircraft noise from Heathrow
- Christian (1/5): - Nada Pior experiência da minha vida. Todo o anúncio era fake.
- joanne (10/5): Wonderful! - There was nothing not to like! Gorgeous house, beautiful room with separate bathroom (for our use only), comfy bed and everything you could possibly want! The host, Mary Beth was an absolute star, lovely, friendly lady! Extras in the room was a special touch, much appreciated. Thank you Mary Beth! X See above haha!
- Jeroen (9/5): -
- Gur (10/5): -
- Mike (10/5): A Beautiful Place to stay - My room was very comfortable and had a beautiful decor. The owner was very friendly and helpful. Next morning there was a delicious breakfast with a wide choice. Nothing
- Britta (8/5): The b&b is good value for money for London and a good location. Air traffic noise from 5:30 am was worse than antici - Bedroom and private bathroom (not en suite)in beautifully decorated terrassed cottage in cul de sac within walking distance to Richmond tube station and the river. Friendly welcome from the host's daughter, dog and cat. Parking restricted for a couple of hours in the morning but visitor's permit available. No kettle in the room but cold drinks were a nice touch on a hot day. Good communication. Single glazed windows don't keep air traffic noise out. Bring ear plugs! Bath tub difficult to get in and out of if you have even mild mobility difficulties. There is no shower curtain and warning signs everywhere not to splash water, so you have to sit in the tub to wash.
- David (10/5): Very clean house and comfortable bed, host was very welcoming - Very good location and street parking was available Nothing
- Mark (10/5): Perfect for our visits to Kew Gardens - Great location for Kew Gardens events/visits. The room was comfortable for a one night stay. The breakfast was simple cereals/fruit/pastries which suited us perfectly. The bathroom is not en-suite. However, we knew this at the time of booking.
- Toni (10/5): Comfortable accommodation and location great for Kew Gardens - Location great for Kew Gardens, a choice of places to eat. The house was tastefully decorated and very clean. There was a garden you could sit in to unwind. The owner supplied a lovely breakfast to start your day consisting of fresh fruit, pancakes cereals and muffins.
- Lorraine (10/5): Kew Getaway - Very warm welcome from our host.
Beautiful room, had everything we needed and more!
Thank you for the nicely chilled cocktails (tins) and homemade cookies waiting for us on our arrival, especially as it was the hottest day of the year.
Breakfast was laid out for us as we were leaving early, there was a great choice of cereals, bread and croissants available plus fruit pot (homemade) and yoghurt.
Parking was easy and we were able to park outside the property.
Loved meeting Billy the dog and little cat Everything was perfect
- Stella (8/5): Clean, comfortable, pleasant stay. - Beautifully laid breakfast table with a nice selection of pastries, toast, yoghurt, granola and juice.
Very clean and organised property.
Loved the option of sitting in the garden under a tree for a morning coffee, with the added bonus of a friendly cat to stroke. N/a
- Sharon (6/5): Pleasant - The comfy bed, clean bathroom with bath though not a proper shower.
Easy walk to Kew Gardens and a few restaurants about.
It was ok for us as going to Kew Gardens was the main reason for us being there.
The nice touch was an ice bucket with cans of drinks and cakes to welcome us. There was a lack of communication and the bedroom was full of furniture with we assume owners stuff, there was a rail for clothes and no empty drawers took ages to find a hairdryer!
Breakfast was always prepared in the kitchen but we never saw anyone to ask questions unless the daughter was about. Communication was via messenger.
- Dean (7/5): Good -
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful decor . Fantastic breakfast . Friendly host
- Colin (9/5): Ideal B&B - Great location
- Nicholas (8/5): Very good - Location; welcome from host; breakfast was very good; communications
- Michael (6/5): Due to the situation, we would not return. - Bed was very comfortable. Location was good. Our room was clean 👌 Room needs decluttering. Very difficult to have a shower and adhere to request not to waste water anywhere, even being very careful. Breakfast very limited, in quantity and choice. Table being laid up night before, only to find a cat sitting on table !!
- Marcus (8/5): Very good -
- Steven (10/5): Amazing bed are comfortable and the breakfast was fantastic - Great location only 3 miles from Twickenham stadium
The lady who owns the property is lovely and welcoming’
The breakfast was set out all ready for when we wanted it home from home property would definitely recommend
- Judith (10/5): Exceptional - The location was excellent. A few minutes walk to Kew station and Kew gardens. Our host was very welcoming, the room was very clean and comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast and we were able to park outside the house. It's a good idea to take ear plugs for the low flying planes.
- Karen (9/5): Superb - The property is in a lovely location within walking distance to the tube & Kew Gardens which was the reason for our stay. The room is lovely, clean with nice touches such as biscuits & a few drinks. The breakfast was fantastic with a lovely selection. given the location you can hear the airplanes overhead but otherwise no complaints at all
- Stephen (4/5): Disappointing -
- Frank (7/5): A clean, well located property near Kew Gardens with free street parking and an excellent breakfast included. Please rea - The bedroom space was very clean and the property was well located with free parking available on the street nearby. The breakfast and additional room snacks provided were excellent. I believe the bathroom arrangements are not suitable for a boarding house / BnB of this nature. The bathroom has no shower facilities only a bath tub which does not have a shower curtain to stop water splashing from a hand held shower device which is provided. The only way to wash yourself was to either have a bath or sit in the bath and use the hand held shower to wash without wetting the bathroom floor. The irony is that the owner has a number of signs in the bathroom warning guests not to splash water around the bathroom as it is not a wet area when the potential problem only arises as she has not provided appropriate facilities. I believe the property advertising should be more clear about the lack of shower facilities as this is a basic expectation for accommodation of this nature in this price range.
- Leigh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrew (9/5): Superb -
- Liz (8/5): Very good - Great host, room lovely and bright and location perfect for Kew and Richmond.
- David (10/5): Amazing place and host. - Fabulous stay with an amazing host. It was vastly superior than what I expected.
- Shen (10/5): Beautiful house, cozy, tidy. We are satisfied with everything here! - Mary prepares everyday healthy breakfast for us. And she makes everything beautiful and tidy and cozy. My daughter can practice piano everyday. And the place is close to bus station and Richmond station. Highly recommended!
- James (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely room, comfortable bed, beautifully furnished, with welcome drinks and biscuits, a wide selection of books on art, gardens and local history, along with maps and guide books for local attractions, pubs and restaurants. Very nice variety of breakfast options in the kitchen downstairs. Helpful and prompt communication from host prior to arrival.
- Ellie (9/5): Friendly and accommodating host, lovely breakfast, clean room with extra treats! - Friendly and accommodating host, lovely breakfast, clean room with extra treats!
- Kiyoko (9/5): Retreat stay - Very stylish room and kind host None
- Christy (7/5): Good - Location was good with street parking and use of nearby tube station into London. Near to Covent Garden is ideal.
Lovely, pretty suburb of London with about a 15 min walk to underground access and 5mins if using bus.
Cosy, bright bedroom with complimentary drinks/snacks.
Essentially a stay in someone's gorgeous, well kept home and we never saw the homeowner but comms were great and helpful. We literally used it as a base for visiting London and the Christmas Ideal home exhibition.
The cost included a self serve continental breakfast in kitchen/diner and was of good quality with delicious and ample choice of cereals, breads, yogurt and fruit hot drinks, juices to start our day off perfectly. With having a large, seperate bathroom down the hallway and not an ensuite or walk in shower could put people off. They provide bathrobes and slippers so a nice touch to cover this and yourselves when using the facilities.
A roll-top freestanding bath with central shower tap had lots of signage to take care using this due to major water spillages and damage previously. As no curtain or screen due to the design of bath. It was as a little cold in the bathroom too, it was clean and looked gorgeous, but didn't make us feel comfortable about using it.
Decided against use of small TV in bedroom too as we were in someone's home and wanted to be mindful of any noise or disturbance we might make during our stay.
- Thomas (10/5): We had a nice turn of the year and felt very comfortable with everything at Windsor Road Retreat - We found the accommodation as shown in the pictures. Everything is very tastefully decorated. There was a delicious, varied breakfast at a beautifully laid table. We felt very comfortable there and were made very welcome at all times. The public transport connection is very good and there are nice restaurants in the neighbourhood, which are recommended by the landlady. A very nice place to combine a London holiday with walks in the countryside. We will be very happy to come back.
- Peter (9/5): Superb -
- Julian (10/5): Great place ideal for Kew Gardens and surrounding areas - Breakfast was great rooms were lovely and our host is lovely too
- Joseph (10/5): Good accommodation with parking - Clean and comfortable Nothing
- Bench (7/5): Good - Lovely room and facilities Sorry Airplane noise from Heathrow woke us very early and we didn't get enough sleep due to this.
We live in a quiet location so we found it very noisy
- Matt (10/5): A delightful stay in a beautiful home. - Beautiful home, lovely breakfast and drinks/wine included in the room. Nothing.
- Peter (9/5): Superb -
- Marla (9/5): Very nice accommodations and close to Kew. - Very close to Kew Gardens! Plus The Richmond area was lovely. Cute area with shops and good pub. Only thing was the bathroom - no real shower - just a bath tub and bathroom not in room - down hallway. Not a biggie as room was lovely and breakfast was amazing!
- Steven (10/5): Perfect stay in a beautiful home, - Beautiful room in a lovely house on a quiet road. Parking was easy, great location.
Interior was gorgeous and everything was very well presented and thought out. Nice touches such as drinks and cakes, amazing breakfast choices.

- Jasani (10/5): Beautiful and relaxing stay. - This was a lovely stay. The bed and room with the welcoming treats were so nice. I loved everything.
- Sam (10/5): Lovely evening away - great host, fab location and loved the personal touches left in our room - Very welcoming, friendly host and a lovely room. Breakfast was delicious - continental style with fruit salad and lovely homemade pastries. Good location - a short walk to both Kew Gardens and Richmond bars and restaurants.
- Claire (8/5): Beautiful property, host delightful. Great base for all that the Richmond area has to offer - The house was beautiful, clean and we felt that roughly spoilt Parking was difficult in the narrow road
- Ann (10/5): Fantastic stay - made to feel very much at home with lovely extra touches of comfort. - Beautifully decorated and very clean and welcoming atmosphere. Nothing
