• Catherine (10/5): Lovely charming and rustic stay - Very charming rustic place. It felt very cozy and spacious. Kids had lots of room to play while adults had lots of places to sit and chat. The area surrounding was very lovely to explore. Also very well lit, so coming back at night wasn't an issue. I would definitely stay again, especially to hike the surrounding areas. Minor item, though there is a bus close by, we often used Uber instead. Reason being going to the parking lot to get an Uber was much easier than taking the huge flights if stairs to the bus.

• Elisa (8/5): - Abbiamo soggiornato nella camera familiare in stile giapponese. La camera molto bella, originale, curata nei dettagli e ben accessoriata. I letti erano molto comodi Nel frigo hanno lasciato degli buonissimi budini per la colazione e del pane e salsicce. E’ stato possibile parcheggiare vicino alle scale che portano alla casa e poi ci si può muovere verso Juifen con i bus. La casa si trova in una collinetta un po’ lontana da Juifen però molto zona tranquilla L’accesso tramite strette scalette può risultare un po’ scomodo per portare i bagagli nel caso di pioggia, ma fa parte delle caratteristiche del luogo. Non abbiamo incontrato nessuno per check in e check out, (anche se era molto ben organizzato); le risposte alla richiesta di informazioni sono state un po’ lente, e questo ci ha comportato un ritardo nell’eseguire il check out: avendo il dubbio di dover pagare in contanti (ne avevamo con noi pochi) siamo andati a cercare un ATM che era molto lontano, e quando hanno chiarito che era stato tutto addebitato sulla carta di credito ormai eravamo già usciti perdendo più di un’ora…

• Frank (8/5): Eine ruhige Unterkunft weg vom Trubel - Die Unterkunft war gut eingerichtet und wir haben nichts vermisst. Nach dem Trubel in Taipei war dies der richtige Ort um ein wenig auszuruhen. Bei Rückfragen haben wir immer prompt Antwort bekommen. Es war sehr sauber und das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis war ok. Wir haben erst aus den Kommentaren erfahren, dass das Frühstück im Kühlschrank ist. Zum Glück haben wir nicht alles gegessen, denn am nächsten Morgen wurde nichts aufgefüllt. Wir hatten ein Auto, ohne wäre es vermutlich ein bisschen weit weg vom Schuss gewesen.

• Edgardo (10/5): Great place, highly recommended, especially for solo travellers. - The owner was very gracious and patient with me. I arrived early and he allowed me to check-in and leave my bags early as well. The breakfast provided was a great way to start each day. The location of the BnB was actually great when it came to going back to Taipei, as it was early on the bus route, so I was able to secure a seat on the bus, before everyone got on from Jiufen Old Street.

• Rochelle (9/5): Lovely place nestled in the mountains. - Really cute place nestled in the mountains. We really settled in and it felt so comfy. Great access to buses to get around the area which was essential because of the lack of parking and at times, huge surges in tourists. The host's son who speaks English was exceptionally gracious the couple of times we got lost. We are older so a thicker mattress would have been very good for us. Better pictures to show where to turnoff from the main road would be very helpful.

It's just a bit too cold during March. The aircon could not heat up the room as much as we thought and we had to stay in longs when we're inside.

• Syed (8/5): A memorable stay. - Very comfortable stay. The room is big. We stayed for 2 nights. Having stayed, we felt that the host has put in a lot of effort and thought to make the guest's stay as comfortable and functional as possible. The room has everything, from a refrigerator, to the cutlery/utensils, gas stove, microwave oven, etc. needed for basic or advanced food preparation, dining table, table to throw loose items, area for drying or airing used clothes/ towels, to the toiletries, lighting, plug points to charge various gadgets. The mattress, pillows were comfortable and so was the blanket. We had a very comfortable stay. and the interior decor of the room has also been thoughtfully and tastefully done - a very rustic feel. And everything is clean. The host also responds very quickly. For instance, one of the family members is a vegetarian. So the host made arrangements to provide vegetarian breakfast when made aware. Reaching the BnB can be a pain - depending on the weather, it can be a big pain and also depending on the physical condition of the guests. A certain number of stairs either need to be descended (public transport route) or ascended (if driving your car). We didn't realise this when booking our stay (if it was mentioned on the booking page then perhaps we overlooked, or it was not very obvious). So, if you have heavy luggage then carrying them could be a problem, like we had. And if it is raining, then that could make the whole experience even worse (it was for us - both when checking in and checking out it was raining). Plus my wife has a knee problem so the stairs were a bit of a struggle. Nevertheless, the room is very comfortable, the area is very quiet, so we quickly forgot about the troubles as we settled into a very comfortable and functional environment of the room.
• Chia (9/5): Superb - The location is excellent, near Gold Museum. The atmosphere of the room is authentic. Breakfast is nice. The bed is a little hard and small.
• Olivia (10/5): Charming room in atmospheric location - The rooms were really charming and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We travelled when it was cold, but there were heaters to keep the rooms warm, and the beds were comfy and shower very powerful and hot water! They gave us fresh dry towels every day. The location was great, nearby the bus stop where you can get to Jiufen by bus in 10 minutes, and the rooms overlooked a mountain.
• Renato (10/5): Nice and quiet - If you stable the two matrazes together it turns out to be very comfortable. Quiet environment. There is a family mart next to the bus station. Wifi is also strong enough.
• Devon (10/5): Perfect location - Super charming room and very spacious suite. The owners were so kind and friendly. Breakfast was provided, along with everything you would need to make your stay perfectly comfortable. I loved the charm of the room: exposed brick walls, gorgeous wooden ceiling. You can see there was love in the labour of the renovation. The location was PERFECT! The first day, we walked 35 mins to Juifen and caught the bus back. The second day, we left on foot from the property to hike up Teapot Mountain and pass through the quaint Qitang (Rainbow Stairs). Note, every bus passes by the Gold Museum, so leaving and returning the hotel is a breeze.

• Colette (10/5): Epic find! - Super spacious room with excellent aircon and comfy beds. Shower was great, filtered water and good breakfast. The owners are so lovely and helpful. You can also get a bus super easy from up the stairs to Old town. An awesome little apartment to stay in, would highly recommend!! Even little power outlets right next to the bed. Great communication through WhatsApp too.

• Burchatz (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful & quiet location and very easy to grab the bus to the busy areas. The rental is rustic in a very cute way. Walking down the first flight of stairs is a bit difficult, I would recommend taking the second set you see when headed down the road.

• Benjamin (10/5): Wonderful stay, great host, would definitely stay again. - Very clean and spacious; the host had thought of everything in the room which was perfect. It is located in a beautiful setting. We liked the pond with fish, frogs and a cheeky crab. Shower had lovely amenities. Bedding clean and comfy. Host even prepared a homemade pudding as part of the breakfast. What a lovely lady. Only slight negative was that it was hard to find the car park area (no signal on our phone) - make sure you download maps in advanced.
• Njchowdrey (8/5): Cute and cosy but in a tricky location - Extremely cute and cosy in a very unique setting. Lots of space with all the amenities you need. Very comfortable Japanese style bed. Be wary if you have a lot of luggage that the place is not easy to get to. Can only be accessed by many steep stairs. Also, if you want to go to Jiufen by public transport, there are many stairs up to the bus stop. The place could be cleaned up a bit.

• Matthew (9/5): Cosy old timey vibe, perfect for a visit to Jiufen - The room has an old time vibe, yet is well furnished and cosy for any visit to Jiufun or the surrounding areas (mts.) Its really close to the Teapot Hiking trail (def recommend hiking around the area if the weather is cooperative) and is only a 6min car ride or 30min walk to the old street and touristy areas. Everything in the room was to my expectations and it has a nice spacious and comfy vibe to it, would recommend for anyone visiting. The road to the parking lot is a bit tight, but that's typical for the villages in this section of Taiwan.
• Laiba (5/5): Would recommend spending a few extra dollars and staying in Jiufen instead. - Towels and bedsheets were clean. 3 night stay for two people and breakfast was only: 2 hotdogs, 2 7/11 sandwiches, 2 7/11 Swiss roll cakes, 1 rotten guava, 1 dragonfruit (but no knife to cut it open), and 2 small homemade puddings. If you are a mosquito magnet, I highly recommend not staying here. There were so many around this property. And doors and windows are not sealed properly, which lets them in during the night. Multiple small staircases in and out of property area. Only one way to enter the property. Was extremely difficult to locate. There was an extremely large spider and spiderweb blocking the pathway which made it even more difficult. Not soundproof, and fans and A/C were really loud.

• Jenae (10/5): Beauty, Comfort and Location! - This was the cutest town and an even cuter home. It is an old Japanese mining village and the home was redone beautifully to highlight the charm of a 100+ old house. We loved having a full kitchen to prepare a couple of meals in. They set you up with tea and coffee and snacks! While it is further from the popular Juifen street, it is just a short bus ride and the bus station is only a short 5 min walk (it is up some steep steps, so be aware that walking will be a big part of staying in this home). And while the busy food street with thousands of options isn't within walking distance, there is still food and options just across from the bus station, including the ever popular and reliable Family Mart with food and snacks including some basic groceries. We did pick up a full run of food for a home cooked dinner when we went to Ruifeng. The space is quaint and quiet and at the edge of of a beautiful mount side that allows for incredible views and plenty to explore. You can get to the famous sand castle beach "Fulong Beach" in about 45 mins by bus. And even the gorgeous Golden Falls are just 10 mins down the road. The bed was comfortable, the space was neat and clean. It is a very open floor plan so everyone sleeps on the same platform just on two separate pads. truly nothing ... it was wonderful! and the host was very responisive and even picked dup a piece of mail that was sent to the home (I had left some articles at another hotel and they sent them to this homestay)

• Amy (9/5): Funky room set among the hills. - Beautiful setting and the room had a lot of character. Very comfortable and roomy. The location is not walking distance to Jiufen Street. Breakfast was not served, but we were left some food for the morning. I am a vegetarian, and part of the breakfast was meat.
• Ross (5/5): Passable - I was charged an extra 50% on arrival for my 1 year old and 3 year old even though I had booked a quadruple (4 person) room. Not fair to do so by the owners.
• Candice (10/5): Beautifully restored traditional house with modern comforts - Traditional house artistically restored and peppered with modern comforts. Loved the use of natural materials and the design of the interior. It is a beautiful and relaxing place to be in, and there is much thought put into the design and details of the room. We were greeted by our lovely host who was very warm and welcoming. It is not a far drive from Jiufen. This was one of the best stays on my trip. The accommodation can be challenging to locate, but is well worth the effort.

• Chris (10/5): Stylish place - Very stylish. It was old building but is very comfy now :) it's like renovated grandma's house Small kitchen. Spacious room. Close to bus stop (3min walk) Be aware you need to walk stairs to reach this street. No problem for me.
• Mvkb (9/5): Very nice stay! - Very cute room, clean and pleasant. Location was great, next to Goldmuseum and a walk to the the Golden Falls. In an old little town. Easy to get on a bus or get uber to go to Jiufen.

I enjoyed the nature around Gold Museum area. - The location might be a little far away from Jiufen Old street but close to many hidden places to explore on the mountain area. Very peaceful and refreshing. The amenities are well prepared so we had a pleasant stay here without any inconvenience. Not really a drawback to me but you need to walk up the hill a bit to reach the house.
• Karen (9/5): A unique and stylish stay in the countryside, easily accessible by bus and has parking - The owner was really warm and caring. She met us on the street so we could have an easier time getting there, and told us about the history of the building. The antique furnishings were really atmospheric and beautiful, very artisanal. We really liked the rustic yet comfortable nature of the decor. The location is good if you want to go the Gold museum, but not very convenient for Jiufen Old Street. There is parking. It was a bit too far from Jiufen Old Street and there are no views like there are for many places in Jiufen. Also we didn't like having hot dogs for breakfast, though the homemade pudding was very good.
