Guest Reviews
- Susanne (7/5): -
- wolfgang (8/5): Kurzaufenthalt mit Unterhaltungswert - Ein sehr freundlicher, hilfsbereiter und aufgeschlossener Gastgeber. Sehr gutes Frühstück in seiner Küche. Es sollte im Haus und ums Haus einiges gemacht werden!
- Karl (1/5): Worrying - Nothing Worst place I have ever stayed. The room was clean but the overall atmosphere was very strange and uncomfortable. The bathroom was shared between my room and the host’s room which felt awkward. The host played loud music until 5am and I felt very unsafe during the stay. The doors and handles covered in cling film were also very unsettling, as mentioned in other reviews. I would not recommend staying here.
- Dennis (7/5): -
- Andreas (4/5): - Nichts besonderes Schwer bzw. gar nicht zu finden.
Frühstück außerst bescheiden.
- Karen (10/5): - Clare View is in an excellent location, on a hill looking down at the fields of the Cliffs of Moher and the town of Ennistymon. The host is very welcoming and knows a lot about the area, and has many interesting stories. Room was spacious and comfortable. Thank you for an enjoyable stay. Everything was good! No problems at all.
- Ramona (3/5): -
- Alessia (7/5): -
- Michael (10/5): A peaceful atmosphere, quite close to the pubs and restaurants of busy Enistimon town. -
- Johan (6/5): Oförutsägbar men riktigt rolig upplevelse! - Eget rum. Uppvärmt golv i badrummet.
- Patricia (10/5): It was our first night in Ireland and this was an excellent way to start! - We LOVED our host! Very knowledgeable and willing to make suggestions such as the town waterfall, the Burrens, and Doolin’s cave. He made us a great breakfast- I loved the croissants and hubby loved the brown bread. The floor in bathroom was heated!!! No complaints-
- Darina (8/5): - A lovely stay in the countryside with an informative and generous host.
- Aidan (2/5): -
- Haas (1/5): -
- MARY (5/5): Not very comfortable anxious to be moving on. Won't be back or recommending b&b. - Breakfast very basic. No teapot. Host making tea in a cup! No cereals offered. Soda bread toasted not nice. I asked for sliced pan bread. Not great. Host in kitchen imposing my space! Kitchen not properly set up for breakfast. Room not ensuite. No privacy. Reams of plastic on the door handled- not hygienic. Property difficult to find. No sign on the road leading to the property or outside the house. By enquiring along the way I finally found the house. No tea biscuits offered on arrival. No front light left on at night for a guest to unlock the door. I had to use my phone light!
- Karen (10/5): - Quiet, clean, friendly overseer.
- maria (8/5): -
- Michael Mary (10/5): - Liked the friendliness of our houst v welcoming good at cooking and Denis was good making the cuppa Liked it all
- Christine (10/5): This was the informative stay I wanted, and more. - Honestly, the greatest perk for me were the historical, political and local cultural lessons that this host, Denis has to offer. We had engaging conversations. AND he went above and beyond to help me get aquainted with what Ennistymon has to offer. His perch above Lahinch has a great view of rolling pastures and livestock.
- Michael (10/5): Atlantic View - Initially, difficult to find. Everything very good.
- Andre (3/5): not recommended - interesting chat with the host host was not ready to receive guests. host imposing on guests, no privacy for guests. We will not recommend.
- Benoit (7/5): Bonne adresse pour une étape, et pour pratiquer son anglais ! - Accueil très sympathique, thé à l'arrivée, longue discussion avec l'hôte. Pas d'eau chaude pour la baignoire.
- Igor (10/5): - I had liked the silencie natural environment of the house and the big dimensión of the room with its natural wood floor and the queen size of the bed. Also the parking place is right in front of the entrance door. The bathroom is out of the room, it is right the next door, but one should come out on the stairs plan to enter in the bathroom.
- Christian (9/5): - Accueil personnalisé par un hôte très intéressant, partages très riches.
- King (7/5): Denis is very knowledgeable of the local area and an interesting host. - The location was close to town and well placed for our onward journey.
Clare View is like stepping back in time and reflects the charm of B&B’s of a past era. Denis is an attentive and amusing host. The room was very large and could possibly use another small table or chair for guests to use?
- Tommaso (10/5): - We stayed very well. Denis is a very kind host, serves you nice tea, has lots of interesting stories to tell and great music knowledge and taste. He really welcomed us in his home. He was accomodating with the check in check out times.
The room was big
and clean. Would happily come back.
- Nancy (10/5): Clare View is a beautiful place to stay with a host who is friendly and eager to please. - The host helped us in many ways.
He provided a fan on an unseasonably warm day.
He gave an excellent recommendation for lunch and taxi service. There was nothing we didn’t like!
- Esther (7/5): - Kamer was ruim en netjes, prima bed.
- Marta (10/5): Wonderful experience.good rest - Great hospitality. King size bed was very comfortable.
- Sylvie (8/5): -
- Françoise (8/5): -
- Buckley (6/5): Pleasant - The bedroom and bathroom were clean The bathroom was outside the bedroom
- Alfredo (10/5): Exceptional - Pretty house with a kind owner, a perfect place of you want to visit the the Cliff of Moher! A very good choice…
- Robert (10/5): Charming Rural Home, Minutes From All The Action - We had a wonderful stay at Clare House. The room was large, very clean, and cozy, with gorgeous views of the surrounding countryside when you're outside. It's a perfect base for exploring the Cliffs of Moher, Ennistymon, and the nearby coastal villages—all just a short, scenic drive away.
Guests should know this is a room in a private home, shared with a kind older gentleman who lives on-site. (He has all the knowledge you need to make your stay in the area absolutely phenomenal.) The bathroom is private and located in the hallway. Breakfast is light—a small, simple offering prepared in the morning, which worked well for us before heading out.
The peaceful setting, the warm welcome, and yes, even the quiet presence of a couple of donkeys (Cindy and Daisy) nearby made it a charming and restful experience. No guarantee they'll be there as he's just boarding them for a friend for a while, but they were so affectionate and cute.
P.S. Be sure to step outside and take in the views—absolutely breathtaking. You can feel the Atlantic winds sweeping the fog across the hills, shifting the landscape by the minute. It’s something you won’t forget. Everything was great.
- Trevor (7/5): Good -
- Gordon (8/5): Good Place to Stay Close to the Cliffs of Moher and Doolin Caves - The house is owned by Denis who rents out a room, Denis is an interesting man, he was born in Sydney which gave us the Aussie link.
The room is big and comfortable and the bathroom has a heated floor which is handy in Ireland.
You get full use of a bathroom and a continental breakfast.
It was a good overnight stay after doing the Cliffs of Moher on our way to Limerick and allowed us to do Doolin Caves before we head off. It would have been nice to have a kettle in the room to make our own tea, although Denis makes it for you if you want it.
- Mary (10/5): Exceptional - Dennis was a lovely gentleman cup of tea on arrival and the chat and great location had the best sleep in the big bed spacious room and beautiful bathroom with underground heating
- Michael (6/5): Pleasant - Good location.
Interesting host
Received good advice/tips regarding local events places to visit etc. Garden unkempt
Door into our room could not be secured. Faulty locks.
Host was reluctant to offer breakfast early ie: 8:00am
Advertised as private bathroom. However bathroom was separate. Located in separate room ie: Had to leave bedroom to go to bathroom. It was sole use though.
- Eilish (9/5): Excellent value for money in a gentleman's home who made us feel very welcome - Location, just over a mile outside the town in the beautiful countryside.
A spacious bedroom and bathroom and comfy bed.
The host Denis, a true gentleman couldn't be more accommodating, ordered taxi and served us a lovely continental breakfast at 10.30am whilst entertaining us with stories of his travels.
Would highly recommend it.
- Rose (6/5): Pleasant -
- Michelle (1/5): Disappointed - Unfortunately we didn't feel comfortable to stay. I'm sure Denis is a nice person but is possibly not set up very well to run a b&b. The room was very basic and there was no way to get a drink without being in his personal space. There were no pillow protectors or a bed protector. The view was great from the front of the property but couldn't be seen from the room. We also saw that all of the door handles were wrapped in plastic, which seemed a little odd. It was difficult to find and they was no sign to say it was Clare View when you got there.
- Krista (5/5): No frills or technology. Interesting host - Location was nice. Dennis was pleasant It didn’t have working WiFi, the bathroom was not en-suite. It was outside the room. Aldi the owners room was right across the hall and the bathroom was between the two rooms. Even though the bathroom was for us only, it didn’t feel private because we had to go out in the hall next to his room to use it. The place is very old fashioned with no TV or any places to plug usb ports into. The bed was a king size and pretty comfortable but the blanket was so heavy and the room was quite warm.
- Roman (9/5): Denis was really nice and he offered us tea/coffee right after we arrived. We also had a nice talk :) - The house was fully equipped and surroundings was amazing.
- David (10/5): Exceptional - The host Denis is courteous, conscientious, chatty and polite . On arrival we had tea in his sitting room having chats while watching a rugby match on TV.
The bedroom itself was very large , with a very large and comfortable bed. Overall very good value for money and thumbs up from me
- Wayne (5/5): Passable - More of a homestay than B&B
- Stephen (10/5): Exceptional - Denis, the owner, is an absolute gentleman with an abundance of information about the area.
We were surprised with the welcome & the lovely chat as nowadays everyone collects a key from a deposit box, we are not used to the personal touch and one to one/face to face communication.
Denis carried my case up to the room.... Other than our wedding i cant remember when that happened.
We could have chatted to Denis all day about Local Area, Nostalgia, Music, Politics... basically anything.
Denis lives in the house and welcomed us into his own kitchen for breakfast while we chatted.
Highly recommended if you are looking for a personal insight into the area!
A lovely man, lovely area & lovely house.
Will be back again in the future.
- Mullarkey (10/5): Exceptional - Denis Vaughan is a very interesting gentleman. The experience of staying in his home was very interesting, full of stories and local history. You cannot find this type of experience in a hotel setting. This is the magic of County Clare as its rustic best, no frills , honest to God hospitality.

- Lahja (8/5): Clean, spacious room with comfortable large bed. - Spacious room, comfortable, warm bathroom. Simple, but plentiful breakfast with brown soda bread, fruit etc. Location is not easy to find, especially in dark.
Table/desk in the room would have been nice.
- Louise (8/5): Warm and hospitable - I really enjoyed our stay at Clare View B&B run by Denis, a very hospitable and informative host. The bedroom was warm and comfortable and I was especially impressed with bathroom underfloor heating. The location is just outside Ennistymon with beautiful scenic views out to Lahinch Beach and Clare coastline. Also found a new scenic back road to Lahinch as a result!
- O'carroll (8/5): Very good -
- Bernadette (1/5): stay in property as I didn feel safe driving the dark road, and was concerned - The property is located off the main road, there is no signage or proper lighting, making it very difficult to locate
- Kovalenko (9/5): When we travel, we think about the attractions, forgetting about the people who leaves there. - The host has a lot of stories to tell! The host invited us to the living room, and we spent a lot of time discussing and debating—interesting stories and points of view. Besides everything else, the bed and pillows were. It was delicious bread for breakfast.
- Darragh (10/5): perfectly situated not too far from Ennistymon with lovely views in the morning . -
- Tauchner (10/5): Exceptional - Most polite host!
- Mckay (9/5): Superb - Very quiet location, owner was very nice and above all very professional...Beautiful house , comfortable and breakfast was great....Would recommend no problem....10/10
- John (9/5): Very reasonable - Good : very quiet house excellent nite sleep Denis very helpful Maybe fruit for breakfast but happy
- Mary (1/5): Not a nice experience - Dirty. Bed broken. Very uncomfortable
Host invasive and unpleasant.
- Alasdair (8/5): Very good - HUGE room in a beautiful location. Host Dennis was a pleasant and amiable person. Breakfast was a bit disappointing consisting of tea, glass of orange juice and 2 slices of soda bread
- Stephen (8/5): Very good - A host who was friendly, who liked to chat and was full of information. A good continental breakfast. Spacious, comfortable room. Very good value for money. Nothing on particular
- Javier (3/5): Poor - The bathroom was big with heated floor. The room was clean and big bed I did not feel comfortable. I missed more privacy. Denis was too invasive. I guess that he intended to be nice ... He arrived late, while it was raining. As breakfast, you were invited to get any food, but the kitchen was a mess. I am sorry to say, but I did not feel confident in the house.
- Liam (1/5): Horrific experience I travelled 200km for the owner to cancel at short notice - The owner cancelled the booking at short notice
I rang at 4pm stating I was near , to clarify directions
430pm
I rang again to state I would be a little delayed - the owner outlined there was a double booking by booking.com - I am requesting a refund and costs incurred as the owner cancelled at short notice Nothing - the owner cancelled booking a short notice - totally unacceptable
I am looking for my refund - and costs incurred
- Steven (1/5): Bad - Nothing Couldn't check in till after 5pm.
Very demanding.
Breakfast was a total disaster.
The owner crept around the house all night keeping us awake.
He even opened our bedroom door at 4am.
Very creepy man.
- Duncan (10/5): Peaceful. Beautiful countryside. - Host was most welcoming and went out of his way to make sure we were at home. Room was spacious and heated floor of bathroom was wonderful. Nothing. It was great.
