Guest Reviews
- Bola (9/5): It was a restful night because l only stayed for a night - I like the accommodation and everything . The location is great but too much for me
- Jeffrey (4/5): Definitely NOT five star. Very disappointing. - Breakfast on the first day, Monday was good also the pizza served on the second evening, Tuesday was excellent, well done Chef. Breakfast on the second day, Tuesday had to be returned as the poached eggs were hard. The second attempt was only slightly better but by then I needed to eat something. This is not a five star venue as described in the booking narrative. The restaurant is really just a bar cafeteria for the golf club, with a menu to match. The accommodation is in a building ten minutes walk from the main building. When we arrived it was not clear where we had to go. Asking at the reception, which is really just the golf shop, I was given directions to the stables only to find nobody there. There is no clear signage. I returned to the main building, asked someone else and was directed to the golf shop. There I saw the same person as before who said" Sorry I thought you were just picking someone up, I didn't realise you wanted to check in!!" The room did not have a fridge, safe or telephone line to reception, despite claiming five star status. The shutters on the window did not stop light coming into the room at 5am, when I woke up - curtains are needed. There were only four hangers in the wardroom. The bar closed at 9pm just as we went in. At 9.01pm I asked if I could have two glasses of wine to take to the room. The response was "Our tills are switched off" Really! One member of staff said " The accommodation is normally used by people at the weddings so we don't need a bar, there's a High Street and a Pub nearby" Some staff need training for five star hospitality if that is what you intend to offer, otherwise stick with what you have which is just accommodation at a golf club for wedding guests.

- jacquelyn (6/5): Bit disappointed, very much a busy golf club with some rooms. - Comfy bed and bedding. Clean and peaceful Room a bit bland,no pictures? Refreshments cheap, toiletries also cheap. Need a bath sheet, bath mat, magnifying mirror somewhere, tissues, small touches but supplied in most places of quality.Shower cap( overhead shower) Shutters let in daylight so summer guests will be woken at 5!
- Andrea (5/5): Bit random but ok overall - Health club facilities on site are excellent & all very clean. Stable block accommodation was cute, comfortable & functional & quiet, I slept well. Most staff were lovely. Finding the accommodation at the stable block was not straightforward but the staff did help by giving me a golf buggy escort.
The restaurant closes at 7pm for dinner, not ideal if like me you are staying for work & don’t arrive till 7. WiFi doesn’t work in the stable block, there is no password on the welcome letter. There is no hotel reception, you have to go to the golf pro shop which is not obvious. You can’t get a coffee or breakfast till 7.30am, not ideal when you’re up at 6 to ne on site at work for 8am, instant in the rooms is a let down for the standard of accommodation, they don’t ask you what you want for breakfast, they just
brung you full English, I’m vegetarian, the lady looked annoyed when I told her this & said I never told her but they never asked which I find odd, to just assume people want pig on their plates. The clubhouse was so packed at breakfast with golfers, like 60 of them, I had 2 sit at my table, I didn’t really get a say in the matter, if I stayed again I would select room only, breakfast was hard work & not peaceful.

- Jane (10/5): Lovely rooms - Bed linen superb. Bed so comfy didn’t want to leave Difficult to find. Lack of instruction through booking.com as to where and how to check in.
- Niki (10/5): Exceptional - Breakfast was lovely Nothing
- Rowena (4/5): Below average, Overpriced. - The bed was comfy and good quality. Nice, quality toiletries in the bathroom and the shower had good water pressure. The staff we did get to speak to were kind and helpful. The old stables are on the site of a clearly very up market golf/health club, which for both the cost and the evident clientele of the club you would expect the same for the accommodation. Though it feels like a second thought/ not properly finished. The rooms themselves were not signposted at all, and not within walking distance of reception/check in.. good luck trying to get anyone to answer the phone. Did read other reviews stating similar things but travelling from 250 miles away for a wedding didn’t leave us with many other options in the area. Breakfast was a decent full English, with an option for one drink only (anything else was an extra charge). Not table service , again misaligned with the cost of the room, and the service that was provided was lacklustre. When at breakfast, you’re looked upon by the golf club guests like aliens.. very odd.
Okay for a one night stay but wouldn’t come again and not sure I’d recommend I’m afraid.
- Phillip (3/5): Nice room and bed but frustrating check in and very frustrated at not receiving the breakfast that was paid for due to a - Nice room and location Difficult to find room as map and directions hard to follow, breakfast service did not start until 0930 making it unfeasible to utilise this part of my stay (that was paid for)
- Maeve (2/5): Very poor -
- Amy (4/5): Disappointing - Location The bathroom flooded
Wasn't advised I would be woken up at 8 am for scaffolding to be erected.
- Rebecca (8/5): Very good -
- Nathan (10/5): Exceptional -
- 74mfox (8/5): Very good -
- Janet (8/5): Enjoyed my stay. Would of been nice to shown around the pool and where to go for breakfast . - Clean and tidy.. need a telephone to reception.. more lighting outside. To far from main reception
- Jason (3/5): Disappointing. There needs to be more focus on this part of the business or just don't offer it. - Breakfast was good quality and served quickly Room had not been cleaned from the prior resident. You feel like the rooms are very much a second thought to the golf. I know they are a small part of the operation but you should not be made to feel this way.
- Georgia (5/5): Beautiful but lots could be better - It was beautifully decorated in a lovely location We were woken up at 3am by drunk people from a wedding party shouting and singing outside, the breakfast option was only full English which gave us no other options (we were charged extra to just have toast instead) it was extremely difficult to find the property and it wasn’t clearly signposted , the disabled sink was loose on the wall which was dangerous
- Stewart (5/5): Disappointing - Breakfast was lovely, as were staff No sign post to say we had arrived at right place so as we started to enter the Golf Club we thought we were at the wrong place so after 45 minutes of asking people on the street and going round in circles we gradually arrived to find just 2 teabags and as we don’t drink coffee we couldn’t even have a drink. We were told dogs couldn’t go in with us for breakfast, luckily weather was good enough to eat outside otherwise we’d have had to eat separate while one stayed in car with dogs the whole experience very disappointing!
- Jacqueline (9/5): Enjoyed our stay in peaceful location we will stay again - Good full English breakfast included . perfect for us travelling with our dog as we usually have problems finding dog friendly accommodation . The room is beautifully converted from the old stables and in a good location with plenty of grounds to walk our dog . Being able to use the swimming pool during our stay was a bonus . Confusing to know where to check in and collect the keys on arrival .
- Peter (10/5): Lovely spacious room! Great stay we had. 😊👍🏻 -
- Jeff (6/5): Could have been better, attention to detail missing - Looked very nice Broken shower, no tv controller, no outside lights
- Jenna (5/5): Nice room but being unable to contact any staff is a problem. - The decor was lovely and it was clean. Completely impossible to get hold of any staff, which became a problem when they gave me the wrong key to the wrong room. I ended up speaking to the staff at the golf club who luckily managed to rectify the issue, although it was close for her as she was leaving shortly. I had to go back and forth to the stables as I couldn’t stay and wait whilst I tried to speak to someone. I was very close to having to find somewhere else to stay as I wouldn’t have been able to use the room they gave me. I also tried contacting the staff earlier in the day and never heard back from them. Not being able to communicate is a huge issue and it would put me off staying there again.
