Guest Reviews
- Vanessa (10/5): Fabulous ! - Fabulous location - short walk to the best each on the Barrier. Very well equipped kitchen. Plenty of space. Fab BBQ. Excellent hosts with great communication. We had a fabulous time. Nothing! Though I would recommend packing an eye mask for the main bedroom as some windows don’t have blinds
- Del (4/5): Lovely house but lack of some basic facilities did not meet expectation leaving us disappointed, - Not applicable Firstly, had trouble finding the property as there is no street number or letter box and property is not clearly visible from the road because large dirt mounds block the view.
A lovely spacious, adequately equipped house with high ceilings, many glass doors and beautiful wooden flooring. After making the booking and paying in full (non-refundable) There is limited information on the Booking.com website but the owner subsequently supplied 6 pages of instructions and information.
Included in this list was the fact that we had to bring our own bed linen, towels, kitchen towel. This instruction was not stated on the Booking.com site. When we raised the issue with the owner by text message (as he does not live on the Island)_, he incorrectly claimed this was standard practice on Great Barrier Island. The property managers told us they looked after 60x properties on the island and all provided bed linen, towels, etc. Very disappointing given the high daily tariff.
On arrival, we couldn't use the gas stove (to make a cup of tea) as the outside gas cylinders required turning on. Not stated in the 6 pages on instructions
A small box of long-life milk had not been supplied which is standard in holiday rentals. Unbelievably, we found dirty unwashed teacups in the cupboard.
The WiFi was not working.
BBQ had not been cleaned and was so dirty it was not useable. We phoned the property managers who were able to come over a few hours later. They were extremely helpful and efficient - cleaned BBQ, connected the gas, and tried to get WiFi connected but could not. It was sorted the late the following day.
There was a bottle of liquid soap on bathroom basin, but only a used cake of soap in the shower.
Owner informed us there was no TV because the Island did not have TV. Another incorrect statement as there is TV available on Great Barrier Island.
This accommodation is over- priced. Not recommended as many options with better facilities are available on Great Barrier Island
