- Jacqueline (8/5): - friendly welcome, older style rooms but very clean, easy walk to pub shops cafe etc outside areas need a makeover - don't do the property comfort justice
- Jennifer (8/5): - The bed was comfortable, and the shower was great. There were some maintenance issues, mainly in bathroom.

- Rob (8/5): Perfect stay for a tired adventure bike rider. - Was a comfortable stay, the staff were friendly and accommodating. Plenty of room for all my gear that I use from the motorbike. The TV had trouble connecting to the internet, not a big issue just annoying.
- Madeline (8/5): Excellent accommmodation with very hospitable and kind staff. Thank you! - Lovely property, very spacious and good facilities. There is speedy wifi and good mobile signal. Incredibly helpful owners, very kind and accommodating!!
- Gayle (8/5): - We liked that we could order dinner of fish and chips off the in house menu which was delivered to our room. It was lovely. Which was good because it was a Monday and nothing else seemed to be open in Hawker!
- Stephen (8/5): Enjoyable visit - Location is good. Owner is very helpful. And perhaps most importantly, the accommodation is clean. A little dated.
- James (8/5): Good budget functional room - Good sized room, helpful staff. Close to eating options. Good location for things to do Room and bathroom were very basic, no-frills. This wasn’t a major problem and likely on par with outback motels
- John (8/5): A good place to stay in Hawker. - Good size and comfortable room with all the facilities that we needed.
The proprietors, John & Dee, were very friendly and helpful. TV reception wasn't great and without asking, the TV was replaced by one connected to the Internet. Just need the ABC and SBS to be connected as well.
- Mary (6/5): -
- Robyn (7/5): Clean and comfortable for an overnight stay - The motel was well located within walking distance of the Hawker Hotel/Motel where we were able to obtain dinner. Breakfast was a typical continental breakfast as the chef was unfortunately sent to hospital in Adelaide. Overall a comfortable stay in keeping with the available facilities in Hawker. N/A
- Ailsa (8/5): Perfect halfway stop between Arkaroola and Adelaide - It was a good halfway stop between Arkaroola and Adelaide. It’s a bit dated but very clean and suited our purpose. Nothing to dislike
- Hans Ulrich (9/5): - Chef Nah an der Strasse
- Paine (6/5): Good for the stop over - Good for stop over and the pub round the corner All good
- Kristen (7/5): I've stayed there before and I'll stay there again. Its reasonably priced. Clean and comfortable. - The hotel is centrally located in the town of Hawker. It was easy to find and the staff member we met was friendly and accommodating. The room was clean and quiet. The bed was a bit hard but some people might like that. We didn't really have any complaints.
- Noga (8/5): -
- Anthony (10/5): -
- Keir (8/5): Comfortable, enjoyable and reasonably priced. - Being able to park right outside your room. Room was nice and big, had a microwave and bikkies ! Good water pressure in shower. Toilet bowl was a bit dirty and corroded and spring loaded plug in bathroom sink didn't work properly.
- Maggie (7/5): -
- Sebastian (10/5): -
- Claire (7/5): A good central location for our last memory trip to the Flinders. - Close to the Northern Flinders - the reason we went. The size of the unit was good. Bathroom with excellent water flow in shower. Good view of the hills. Plenty of parking. Wi-Fi worked well. Great linen on the bed. Plenty of electricity outlets. Fridge & microwave worked well. Sofa comfortable and in good condition Toaster only worked when lever held down but owner offered resolution when approached. Outdated tourist information in the folder. No information re TV operation for oldies who are not that computer savvy.
- Steffo (8/5): - Great location. Easy walk to all town venues. Could be updated a little. No food service at present. Hopefully to be offered in future as new owners are still settling in
- Susan (6/5): A handy, clean, basic hotel for an over night stay - It was easy to find and in a handy location re places to eat. The decor was tired. ; the bed cover , curtains were dull and old. A block out blind at the window would be a great addition.
- Shaw (6/5): -
- Emma (8/5): - Customer service was amazing, they were open with communication, let us do a late check in and very friendly. Lots of pamphlets on local attractions and centre of town.
- John (8/5): - Convenient location. Clean & comfortable motel. Efficient check-in.
- Martina (9/5): A gem of an oasis on a hot sweaty day! - We booked very last minute because of unforeseen circumstances while riding the Mawson trail. The owners/hosts were super friendly and couldn’t do enough to help us. The air conditioning was on when we arrived, chilled water in the fridge and they even put a microwave in our room so we could be self sufficient. The room was very clean, and had great facilities that made our stay very comfortable. And we ended up staying 3 days.
- Simon (8/5): Good option in this part of the world without spending a bomb. - This is a remote town so I thought they did a good job given the circumstances. Nice to have a clean room, hot water for a decent shower and air con for those hot nights. Nothing really, you get what you pay for!
- Timothy (7/5): - The shower! No plates to eat off!

- Yihua (8/5): - fresh towels,
good location. no microwave
- Adric (8/5): A clean, comfortable and friendly country stay and an authentic outback feel — a few things could use updating, but over - Great location for exploring Wilpena Pound and the Flinders Ranges — everything is easy to get to.
• Clean, comfortable rooms with all the basics you need for a few nights’ stay.
• Friendly, welcoming staff who make you feel at home.
• The pub has a nice country atmosphere, and the meals are hearty and good value.
• A genuine outback experience — relaxed and down-to-earth. • Some areas and furnishings could use a bit of updating.
• Limited amenities compared to bigger hotels, but that’s expected for a small country town.
- Alison (8/5): - A comfortable room and close to the beautiful Flinders Rangers, our joyflight over Wilpena Pound, as well as walking distance to everything we wanted to do in the town. Staff are very friendly.
- Ian (8/5): -
- Mark (7/5): Comfy motel in central location, friendly helpful staff, happy to visit again and would recommend it to others - Comfortable accommodation in convenient location, just a level stroll from general store, excellent restaurant and the pub.. Decor dated and given the dust that rises on windy days, a thorough clean of all furnishings and window sills would make things more pleasant, particularly for asthma sufferers.
- ELAINE (8/5): -
- Julie (6/5): Overnighter. - Good location to stay for day trips into the Flinders Ranges. The room was large and the bed was adequate. The room was 'tired' and the decor was faded and old. The air con rattled and the plumbing dripped. Hawker has few options for eating out.
- Therese (9/5): Good location, friendly hosts, comfortable bed and pillows. - A large room which was very comfortable
Toaster, microwave and jug.
- Neil (9/5): -
- David (4/5): Disappointing - The location and the towels! Shower recess was poor with jagged edges in the tiles below the shower screen. No soap holder. No power points for devices, without unplugging existing electrical items. Wifi signal was too poor inside the room to connect. Bed was uncomfortable. Lighting was dim, due to inadequately powered florescent globes.
- margret (8/5): -
- Shaun (8/5): -
- Amy (7/5): -
- Xiuhui (8/5): - Clean and comfortable
- Paul (9/5): -
- Roberta (7/5): Worth staying - Friendly staff, close to everything. Big room. It needs a makeover

- Anthony (5/5): -
- David (8/5): -
- Jacinta (8/5): - Convenience
- Marta (9/5): -
- Malcolm (8/5): Was clean and tidy - Easy to find TV only showed pixilated picture
Arrived 4.15pm and room still being serviced
Main window curtain almost covers the space
Old noisey in wall air con unit.
- Melissa (7/5): Good -
- Linda (8/5): Very enjoyable and would be happy to stay again. - Good position and quiet. Comfortable bed and Lovely big room, clean and warm 👍 Nothing.
- Chris (7/5): Comfortable - Convenient Very dated decor
- Tim (9/5): Property not outwardly impressive but rooms spacious, clean and well appointed. - Limited TV reception.
- Gary (9/5): We enjoyed the facilities which were very comfortable. Owners were very obliging -
- Timothy (7/5): Dated property but good for the price, clean with comfy beds - Close to town, easy parking, comfy bed Bit dated, leaking gutter outside door was a bit annoying
- Annemarie (8/5): One night stay on the way to our destination - It was clean The mattress wasn’t the greatest
- Lynettes (8/5): Vert comfortable - Owner very helpful
Room was a little outdated but very well equipped & maintained,& clean
Great hot water in shower The challenge of controlling the water temperature of the shower
- Rebecca (5/5): Passable -
- Leanne (7/5): Average - Convenient Dated no couch
- Megan (7/5): Adequate accommodation in a wonderful location. - The property is very dated but everything works well. The air conditioner is quite noisy, being very old, but it is effective. Hawker is a great location for exploring the Flinders ranges. Dated and dowdy but clean and comfortable.
- Nahir (9/5): Superb -
- Paul (4/5): A very trying stay caused by an electrical fault. A partial refund should be given - Spacious room At 6 am I plugged in two appliances and the fuses for half the motel blew. I went to reception and left three phone messages. There was zero response, so we packed in the dark and left.
- Susan (8/5): Very good -
- Sue (7/5): Basic accommodation with friendly staff. -
- Olwyn (7/5): A roomy unit adequate for a short stay. - We had stayed here before it was called the Outback. It was terrible but it is now under new management and the rooms have been upgraded and were clean and comfortable with some new facilities. The rooms were also large. It still has the appearance of being rundown. The outlet of the heating system dripped water right outside the front door!
- Diane (8/5): Very good -
- Susan (8/5): Very good - You get what you pay for in outback Australia.
Stayed an extra night but no tea/coffee added to room. Asked for it and it was supplied.
Nice owners.
- Elizabeth (7/5): Basic, clean motel room - Clean and the room was spacious. It was quiet. Manager/Owner friendly and helpful. Microwave was provided on request. Nothing
- Robyn (8/5): Very good - Close to the town
- Stokes (7/5): Nicer than we expected. Would go back if in the area. - A comfortable motel with all the facilities you'd expect. The shops were an easy walk away. Driving north to Wilpena Pound was easy. From reading other people's reviews, we didn't expect any television channels apart from ABC, but it was no problem. The wash basin was slow to drain, so we didn't have a shower in case there was a problem. We told them when we left and they were going to see if there was anything to worry about. By now any problem will have been fixed.
- Samantha (7/5): Good - The location was perfect to explore the Flinders region from. The wifi wouldn't work at all unless we were near the reception. The tv was difficult to operate, couldn't use it and I'm technology literate.
A huge packed trailer was also parked directly outside our door - while no other parks were taken, so this was a bit odd. It made getting our suitcases and bags in and out that much more difficult.
I could also hear every word of conversations in the neighbouring room.
- Stafford (4/5): Given the location and other options it seemed the best of a bad lot - The room , although last renovated in the 70’s was clean but well worn nevertheless it was clean and dry In short , very old , worn and basic needs updating
- Stephen (8/5): Very good - Room recently renovated. Manager was friendly and helpful
- Meredith (7/5): Convenient budget motel - Convenient easy to locate.Large room, bed reasonably comfortable. A bit dated could do with a refurbishment. A/C noisy
- Cheeseman (7/5): Good - Spacious room with a comfy bed and good shower. The room was Spartan and did not feel cosy. The air conditioner was very noisy and was due for replacement.
- Peter (10/5): Highly recommend staying at the outback motel - Staff were extremely helpful restaurant was closed but they went out of their way and cooked a meal for me Nothing
- Ian (6/5): Pleasant -
- Kim (4/5): Over priced for the quality of the rooms, but in a handy location. - Close to where we needed to be for our stay, large rooms. Bull ants everywhere in the room, bathroom draws had hair in there, very uncomfortable bed, rooms are very outdated.
Owners entered room and turned the heating off whilst we weren’t there. If they had replaced the towels or made bed I’d understand them coming in but we deemed it very rude especially for the price of the rooms.
Asked a family member to collect our key as we were going to arrive late they were very rude and didn’t want to hand the key over even with our details.
- Lorraine (7/5): Good -
- Steffo (7/5): Good Feeling Place - The owners are really friendly and supportive people. We were warmly welcomed and looked after. Great location with plenty of parking. Nice quiet spot. The dusty courtyard and parking area should be sealed.
